A young man of Chinese descent wearing a murky blue shirt, brown jeans and black boots with a cap, black hair and dark brown eyes walked through the corridor of the Oscorp building. A box of tools in hand. "Work at Oscorp they said, you're bioengineering degree would get you a solid spot, they said.", he pinched the bridge of his nose as he shook his head.
"Yeah, try saying that when you get shoved into the position of a repairman when you don't have the qualifications.", the spiteful young man thinks to himself with an annoyed expression on his face.
He took out an ID card reading his name Jackson Arashi, he waved it against a card reader that let out a beep, a heavy clunking sound was heard as he opened the door leading to a room with a giant tank in the center. The contents of it were a sort of sludge along with a few dozen eels generating electricity.
"They stole my fucking idea too. My life is so fucking great.", Jackson muttered as he could imagine grabbing the person who stole his idea by the throat and strangling him to death for it. He pushed those thoughts aside as he looked up to the ceiling, which was composed of a metal grate that allowed him to see a power cable that was hanging loosely.
"After all the shit I did to get here, all the nights I spent working on that fucking assignments. The jobs I had to take to pay off the copious amount of debt.", he grits his teeth as he climbed up a latter and walked along the metal grate. Thankfully, the cable wasn't that far off the ground, allowing him to grab it.
Jackson searched through his bag, digging through the other compartments and hissed. "Fuck I forgot to get the rubber gloves.", he sighs before looking at the cables. He pulled out his radio and activated it. "Hey can someone shut the power down in Sector C for a bit?"
Seconds passed and no one would answer, annoyed by this he simply grabbed both ends and slowly slice them back together, with a surprised look, Jackson smiled. "Phew, and here I thought I was gonna-"
The moment he hooked the cable back on, a powerful jolt of electricity surged through it, causing him to let out a scream of pain as he fell back. The metal grate gave in and crumbled, causing him to fall through and land into the tank.
He let out a scream drowned out by the strange liquid as it only got worse, the eels began to tear through his flesh. They bit and gnawed at his throat, his abdomen, his arms, his ankles, his face and every other part they could get their mouths around as electricity surged his body, traveling through his veins. The thrashing in the tank and the incredible amount of electricity was enough to cause it to completely burst open, flooding the room in the strange liquid with the eels flopping around.
Jackson laid on the bed of the tank, however, he didn't move. His entire body wasn't even scarred, it was covered in some sort of shell that gave off steam as it laid there lifelessly, yellow and blue electricity crackling around it periodically
Jonah walked up the pathway to a front door with black pizza delivery bag in hand, placing down the two boxes onto the welcome mat before knocking hard twice. Then just turned and went back to the company handed delivery car and drove off.
"Y'know with webbing this shit could be way faster.", Jonah says as he attempted the same hand gesture he tried several days prior to no avail. "Guess I pulled the short end of the stick, cuz having fangs is so worth it.", he mumbled angrily as he pulled out and drove off.
His phone began buzzing, he went to the passenger seat and accidentally got a flip phone before placing it back down and quickly answering his actual phone. "Alright, wassup?"
["Hey, J. I'm not bothering you right now am I?", Jonah was relieved to hear that it wasn't his boss, he didn't really have the time to check on the road.
"Nah, I just got done with another delivery.", Jonah casually says as he slowed his car down to a halt once he saw a red light.
["Okay good. I was wondering if you'd wanna go out and head to that new cafe down in Manhattan."]
"Yeah sure. How about tonight?", Jonah asked. "I'm done after this one."
["Yeah that sounds good, alright! See you then!", Jonah sighed as the call ended.
His eyes drifted to the rear view mirror, adjusting it to see the suit all folded up and left in the middle before adjusting it to face the rode behind him. "Still hurts.", Jonah mutters as he rubbed the spot where a bullet went through his body, then rubbing around his arm where another was shot at.
"Alright, so I got the vest, kneepads and those combat boots. Now what?I don't think waiting for the train would be very useful.", Jonah ponders as he waited in traffic, honking the horn as he tapped the wheel. "A rope would be nice... not sure if they're optimal for swinging somewhere else that doesn't have a light pole."
After bringing the inventory back to the stores, his alter ego known as Bullet Spider was talked about. Some had praised his actions for helping them such as podcasts and streamers while official News Outlets either tried to spin what he did into a conspiracy or simply tried to dispel the idea that someone with super powers could exist.
But that's not what he cared for, every single day the memory of that man became clearer and clearer. He could see the disgusting scars around his face, his disgustingly small teeth. The more he thought about it, the more his teeth began to grow into fangs once again.
Jonah sighed as he continued to drive, the traffic finally moving forward. As he drove, he turned his head to see a group of men outside a building in an alleyway, attempting to break in. "Hmm... would you look at that?"
It took hours, long, grueling and intense hours for the Manhattan General Hospital when the body of Jackson Arashi was wheeled in. They tried their best, every single doctor in that building tried to do something, gain a small indication that he was still alive...
But there was nothing, not an ounce of life was left. Because of this, they pronounced him dead, any friends and family that visited couldn't believe it. He was dead...
Well... that's what it looked like anyways.
A plump mortician nodded to the music playing in his headphones as he activated the incinerator. The man looked around as the lights began to flicker before shrugging as he was going to take off the cover... until he was blasted back with electricity
For the three seconds he was still alive, the man could feel the electrical energy burning straight though his fingers, through his muscles and veins as he died upon coming in contact with the wall.
The lights flickered before exploding as the body began writhing in shock, it fell onto the floor with pieces of the dark carapace began cracking off and onto the floor.
The rapid breathing of Jackson echoed though the room as he looked at his now exposed hand. His skin was completely translucent, not just that but every ounce of tissue was translucent, leaving only a black skeletal hand surrounded by energy encased by some force to mold it into a limb.
Jackson heard the buzzing of a saw as it came falling onto him, instinctively he held his hand up... but it actually stopped the electrical saw with a sort of aura of blue and yellow electrical energy before tossing it away.
Jackson began tearing the rest of the shell off, groaning in pain as his throat had been burned, he pulled himself up onto his feet as he limped his way towards a trash bin. "It hurts... it hurts...", those were the words that repeated his head as he slowly slipped on the black and yellow hoodie, sweat pants and gloves.
Stealing the shoes of the mortician, he limped his way out of the hospital. Lights flickering as he did so, they stopped the moment he went through the back exit. "Need to go, need to hide... can't feel my legs... it hurts so much... how can I stop... the agony inside of me... my pulse is shaky..."
Jackson felt like he was dragging himself with every step, but with every step it felt like he was walking on shards of glass covered in salt. He didn't even notice it when he suddenly got to a sidewalk, people walking by him confused, some concerned, but some looked offended, almost as if his pain and suffering was an inconvenience.
He hated it. He hated them.
Their looks of pity and disdain disgusted him, Jackson felt as if he'd seen those looks before. Every single day of his existence. It felt like needles being stabbed into his skin then wiggled about by a magnet.
In a strange twist of fate, the Silver Spoon Cafe was the same exact location that Jonah and Maya had decided to visit that night. Two cups of coffee laid on the table as the two conversed. "Okay so I took my drivers test again, right?"
Jonah nodded.
"I got the written exam done, I studied all night, again, I highlighted the things I KNEW I needed and-", Maya paused before taking a sip of her coffee. "Guess what? I was two questions short of getting a passing score!"
"Again? This is the third time you tried this." Jonah looked at her completely baffled as she shook her head.
"Dude, I almost bursted in tears right fucking there I swear to god.", Maya says as she rubbed her temples. "I got so fucking frustrated."
"Sounds like a fucking nightmare-", Jonah's eyes met those of a masked figure using some sort of cloth to hide his face. "You gonna try again?"
"Yeah, I'll have to wait another thirty days but I'll be fine.", she says with a smile.
Jackson attempted to control his own breathing as he entered the cafe, more accurately stumbling in with the amount of pain that was still clawing through his body. He stood at the back of the line and everyone looked at him, most took their phones out, some in the line actually stepped out.
That's when the whispering started. "They know. They know! They know! Stop staring at me! Stop staring!", the lights began to flicker as Jackson's breathing became labored again. The whispers only got louder and louder from there, he covered his ears as electricity surged around his body.
"STOP WHISPERING!!!!!", he screamed in rage, af the same time the light bulbs bursted. It was just then the electrocuted man realized what he just did. "Sorry. I'm so sorry-", Jackson hissed as he began to run out as best as he could. Pushing people aside as he wheezed.
Jonah noticed this of course, he pulled out his phone and groaned. "Ugh, I'd hate to ditch but my mom needs me back at home.", he states as he got up and took his backpack.
"Oh no you're fine, but you're paying next time.", Maya says with an unbothered look as Jonah nodded and walked off.
The moment Jonah got out of eyesight he decided to take a left to the alleyway, leaping up with all his strength to land on the building as he quickly got changed.
Jackson was still limping his way through the crowd, he grits his teeth as he could only catch glances at their looks. He hated the way they stared at him, that was when he tripped and fell, he stumbled up only to gain a crowd surrounding him. "Please... leave me alone..."
It was just then he was met with a drop kick to the back, in a split second he was grabbed by his head and then tossed into a nearby car meter. Jonah stood in his slightly modified Bullet Spider Suit, he wore a red and grey hoodie, along with a grey cloth around his neck, a pair of fingerless combat gloves, a Kevlar vest with a white spider insignia located on his chest, wearing a dark red mask and wearing the same black goggles.
Jackson snapped his face towards him, revealing his black skull with two blue eyes, electricity crackled off his face giving it an almost star like shape around his brow. "You shouldn't... have done that!", he exclaims enraged, standing up as yellow and blue electricity began to burn his stolen clothing. "You really shouldn't have done that!"
"Womp womp."
Glass exploded, lights erupted, electricity surged around him as he stumbled closer. As he did this, the civilians ran off to a safe distance while some attempted to record the encounter. "Why did you attack me?!"
The electrified Jackson hissed as he swiped at Bullet Spider, who effortlessly backflips over him and round house kicked him. "Man I don't know, maybe it's because of the exposed skull or something."
"Go away!", Jackson unleashed a bolt of electricity at Bullet Spider who simply cart wheeled out of the last and ran up a wall, sliding another blast by propelling himself off. "LEAVE ME ALONE!", Jackson hissed as he unleashed multiple blasts at him.
Bullet Spider hissed as he spun his body around to dodge only to be blasted by a sudden bolt, sending him into the side of a delivery truck. "Why... why didn't you leave me alone?! That's all you had to do!"
"Gee I wonder why, it's totally not the fact you caused a public disturbance like that.", Bullet Spider stated flatly, which annoyed the skeletal man even further as he blasted him again. Bullet Spider rolled out the way and leapt into the air, sticking onto a billboard of Oscorp and crawling onto the back as Jackson kept firing at him.
"Rubber gloves would be real useful right about now.", Bullet Spider sighs as his phone suddenly rang, he lets out a groan as the sound of lightening colliding against the bill board kept reminding him of his situation. He answered it and lifted up his mask. "Hey Hobie."
["Hey J, alright so, I'm gonna be out of town for a few days. My aunt got into an accident and she needs someone to help around while she recovers, think you can cover for me for the classes we have together?"]
"Yeah sure, I don't see why not.", Jonah says as he heard Hobie let out a relived sigh.
["Cant thank you enough man. Anyways, I'll see you soon."]
The moment the call ended, Jonah pulled down his mask and kept onto the top of the billboard. "Alright, sparkles! Let's dance-"; Bullet Spider stopped just short as he notice that Jackson had vanished. "Never mind I guess."
Jonah slowly crawled his way through his window, taking his mask off and slowly setting himself down onto his bed. He looked through his phone that was actually fully charged somehow. "Oh... well at least he saved me some time."
The first notification was from a News App, with a very... interesting title. Oscorp Technician found dead in lab. Jonah shrugged and decided to take a look for detailed every single event captured off of a security camera. A young man if Asian heritage fell into a vat of bio-engineered electric eels and was found dead with some strange layer over him.
"Wait... it happened today?", Jonah sat up as he began to realize something. The man who he fought looked injured in some way, not just that but his clothing looked dirty along with being a size too big for him. "Could it be the same guy?... fucking hell, my first supervillain and I actually feel bad for the guy. C'mon..."
Then something popped into his head, Jonah remembered that the electrified skeleton had been blasting at the bill board but couldn't understand why it never went through. "Unless... shit, his next stop is at Oscorp."
Jackson found himself walking at a steady pace once again, the pain he felt had finally left his body and it was replaced with a boiling rage. "Oscorp... did this to me!"
The dark streets were now illuminated by flashing red and blue lights as a police siren was heard. Two police cars stopped behind him and another pulled up in front of him. Multiple cops stepped out and aimed their guns at him. "Put your hands on your head and come quietly so we can transport you to a faculty that can treat you
"No... I just wanna be left alone.", Jackson says as he trembled, attempting to walk by.
"After the little stunt you caused earlier, it's either a jail cell or hospital room. Your call!", a female officer says as Jackson turned his head to look at her, his blue eyes becoming sharp.
"My call? When has any of this been MY CALL?!", Jackson exclaimed with rage as his electricity burned of his hoodie, leaving him in nothing but pants and fingerless gloves.
"Listen, we don't know what's going on but only wanna help you!", another officer says as Jackson just laughed.
"Help me?! How could you help me when you don't know what's wrong? What kind of logic is that?!", as his anger grew, his electricity became more and more intense until he let out a scream, the police cars being sent flying back along with the officers barely managing to dodge the doors slamming shut on them. "There's only one person that can help, and I'm gonna pay her a little visit!"
Jackson seemed to smirk as he began to walk down the street, lightbulbs exploding and car alarms going off as he did.
A blond haired woman wearing a lab coat over a black turtle neck, green jeans and black shoes looked through a microscope at... something. It was a object much smaller than even a penny, it was completely black and seemed to move.
"Doctor Elsa Brock.", he middle aged woman jumped in her chair startled as she looked up to see Bullet Spider crawling out of a vent. "Heard a lot of great things about you, though some of it was your... equipment, but I'm not here for that."
Elsa looked at him in confusion. "What are you here for then?"
"Who was leading the research on those genetically modified eels?", Bullet Spider asks as he dropped down.
"I believe it was Doctor Alister Smythe.", the blond scientist says tapping her chin. "Why would you want to know that?"
"I believe he's in danger.", with these words, Bullet Spider had caught her attention. "You know that technician who fell into one of those vats and died, almost yesterday at this point?"
"Yeah, it was Mr. Arashi right? He had potential honestly.", Elsa remembered encountering him once or twice, it was obvious he disliked most of them but was cordial enough.
"Yeah.", Bullet Spider pulled out his phone and showed her an image captured and sent online by someone, the image was himself and what was once Jackson. "He's become a living lightening rod now."
"Hmm, strange.", Elsa says looking at his new form. "It's like his body had mutated. Possibly due to the mixture in the liquid combined with the eels biting him."
"I don't have time for a science lesson.", Bullet Spider grabbed her by the shoulders as an idea came to mind. "Hey... you guys made that bio cable right? Mind I borrow it?"
Elsewhere in the building, a lanky dark haired man wearing a sharp business suit had entered a room that was lined with technicians and electricians of all shapes and sizing. They were working on various technologies, ranging from a glider to some sort of helmet. "SMYTHE!"
An explosion erupted from a window, a bolt of blue and yellow electricity landed in the center startling and even electrocuting others. Alistair Smythe had fell onto his back and began inching away. "Wh-Who are you??"
"You fucking did this to me! You turned me into this- this FREAK!", Jackson exclaimed angrily as the man backed away.
"Y-You're that kid, the one that died!", Smythe says in awe at this new... creature, this specimen. "Just, calm down."
"Calm? HOW CAN ANYONE BE CALM LIKE THIS?!", as he yelled, his electricity caused a fire in each of the electronic devices. "You caused this! You fix it!"
"I understand, Mr. Arashi.", Alistair slowly stood up as the electricity dangerously crackled around Jackson. "But we're gonna need time."
"I DONT HAVE TIME! FIX ME NOW!", Jackson exclaimed as he blasted a scientist that attempted to flee, immediately falling limp onto the ground lifelessly. "I know you can do it, Smythe. All you need is proper motivation."
"How about you calm the fuck down first and then we talk about curing you.", Bullet Spider says as he crawled along the wall and onto the ceiling. He now looked like he was wearing... metal bracers around his wrists.
"YOU!", Jackson screeched as he blasted at Bullet Spider, who quickly dodged and landed on the ground.
"Yeah, me.", Bullet Spider said casually. "Look, if you want a cure then you're gonna have to take the time and wait. I'm sure they can give you something to compensate.", instead of any other response, he was sent hurdling back into one of the many work benches by a bolt of lightening.
"Haven't you been listening? Without a cure, I'm not Jackson Arashi!", Jackson exclaims as his electrical energy grew more intense. "I'm... I'm a freak!"
"I mean the skeletal look is pretty cool though.", Bullet Spider says as his hood was down. "Now like I said-", he did his hand gesture once again, however, a thin, almost web like rope ejected out of a nozzle and grabbed onto one of the devices. "Calm down!", he exclaims before throwing it at Jackson, sending him stumbling back.
"DIE!", the creature that was once Jackson exclaimed as he whipped his arm around, sending a wave of electricity at Bullet Spider who ducked under this before shooting a web rope to the ceiling and hoisting himself onto the ceiling as he attempted this again.
Bullet Spider swung off from this as he dodged another blast, landing on his hands and propelling himself off the ground and onto the wall in order to dodge another. Once he planted his feet down, he shot another web rope at Jackson's chest to which he grabbed and sent electricity through it.
If he had any facial muscles, they would shift into a surprised expression as the webs seemed to be ineffective. Jackson was met with a flying drop kick to his chest that sent him hurdling back before Bullet Spider attempted a reverse elbow drop.
Jackson looked over as his eyes widened, the scientist had escaped, barley catching a glimpse at one of their shoes. "Gone... my only chance at being cured!", he looked over only to be kicked in the face. Quickly grabbing his boot and throwing him across the room. "That's it, I'm done playing!"
A window washer was slowly ascending to the next floor as he finished. He quickly covered his head as glass was sent flying the moment two figures charged right through it.
With the rubber knuckles of his new combat gloves, he began punching Jackson in the face repeatedly. Grabbing him by the throat as he kicked him down faster, Jackson hissed as he fired at Bullet Spider once again. He narrowly grabbed a flying kick before throwing him down onto the street below, propelling himself after him.
"No more playing huh? Well let's see about that.", Bullet Spider grinned as he shot a web rope at a building to catch himself, he swung from there and shot another web rope. Climbing it up as he swung, dodging the blasts from the electrical creature that was once a human.
With one corner turned, Jackson had suddenly lost track of him. He levitated in the air looking around. "Where the hell did you go?! You wall crawling-!", he was suddenly met with a sensation of something on his back before being throw into one of the water towers.
Jackson let out a scream of pain as the water quickly turned to steam before it could even burn out. Bullet Spider peered into the water tower, he saw Jackson, laying there in his original form. Albeit with markings around his eyes.
"Sorry Jack, but you gave me no choice.", Bullet Spider says as he picked him up and used a web rope to lower himself onto the street as police cars and ambulances arrived.
As he gently placed Jackson down onto the ground, police began to tape off the area as medics placed Jackson onto a stretcher. "Welp, looks like my work here is done."
Using his new web shooters, he shot a web rope and hoisted himself off the ground to swing from that building. All while a Japanese-American woman with short black hair, a leather jacket over a red shirt, denim jeans and black shoes looked at him.
"Want us to go after him, Captain Watanabe?", a police officer says as he gestured to his gun.
"No, just let him go... for now anyways.", Yuri says with a nod as she looked at Jackson before the ambulances door was slammed shut.
Jackson opened his eyes which were now blue with a yellow pupil, he looked around as orchestrated music played in this dark concrete box of a cell. He looked at himself, or at least attempted to, he was happy to see his skin back but noticed he was in a sort of contraption.
"You've been in a terrible accident.", a dark haired woman with a lab coat says as she looks at him. "My name is Doctor Kafka, I'm assigned for studying you and seeing how we can reverse it. To understand what you are... how you are.", she says before pressing a button, shocking him.
Jackson thrashed for a few seconds, reminded of the death. The burning, the drowning and helplessness he felt when he was dying. The moment it stopped, his eyes turned completely black. "You know you trapped me in a prison... that runs on electricity, right?"
"We know, and you're not getting out yet until Oscorp finishes that suit.", Doctor Kafka says as she looked at a clipboard. "We don't know how or why, but somehow you managed to short yourself out, which resulted in your current appearance."
"Is that why you're using high intensity compactors and bio-stim electrodes? To help me?", Jackson says narrowing his eyes with burnt markings around them.
"Yes... we're trying to study you, trying to fix what happened to you. Or at least attempt.", Kafka says with a sincere tone, but it only increased Jackson's anger.
"It doesn't matter what you have, you can't contain me.", Jackson says with a hiss, his veins beginning to glow with blue sparkling energy. "I'm dying to know just how strong I am, so you better make damn sure you just kill me. Because if you don't... I'm going to kill the light!"
Kafka looked around as the lights began to sputter as Jackson began to have crackles of electricity surged around him for a split second. "Then everyone will know how it feels to live in my world, a world without power, a world without mercy, a world without justice.", as Jackson continued, his blue energy turned a bright red as he grits his teeth. "Everyone will be able to see me for who I truly am."
"And... who are you?", Kafka asked slowly backing away and giving a sort of hand gesture behind her back.
"Don't you know?", for a brief second his skin became slightly translucent to show his black and cracked skull.
"I'm Electro."
