Prologue - a dream:
"Is anyone there?" The blue haired girl called out into the darkness.
Hilda had just woken up and all she could see was pitch blackness engulfing the room. It reminded her of…of…but when she tried to remember this feeling she was feeling right now it was impossible to name. Whatever it was, she didn't like it.
"I've been waiting for you," a voice rang out in the darkness.
"Show yourself!"She yelled out.
A bright, reddish, pinkish orb of light appeared in front of her.
"Is this [she paused here, for she wondered whether or not it would sound stupid to ask] you?" Hilda questioned, reaching her hand out to touch the floating orb, but then speedily bringing it back to her side as she felt a painful burning sensation as she lay her finger on it.
"Yes. And it will be you too soon!"
Hilda gasped. What did this thing mean?
"Ha!" Whoever this was, she sounded extremely amused by Hilda. "You should see your face! Nah, this isn't me. But it's the only way I can get into your dreams. Follow me!"
The orb sped up flying away at high speeds.
"Wait for me!" Hilda called out, without hesitation. She ran forward, excited to have adventure knocking at her door (again), even if it was hard to keep up as the orb kept turning and even doing the odd loopty-loop.
"It's a … tree?"
Hilda stared up at this completely ordinary oak tree in front of her.
"Um, no offence, but are you sure this is what you wanted to show me? Seems boring" Hilda rolled her eyes in frustration.
"Touch it!"
Hilda pressed her palm against the rough bark of the tree as instructed and looked at the tree, at the trunk and the roots and the leaves. The leaves. They were -
"Wow. It's…beautiful"
They were glowing in a multitude of different colours.
"Pretty metal, huh?"
But as soon as Hilda spun round to look at the orb again, she suddenly found herself falling into the darkness.
"See you later" The voice called out before disintegrating into flecks of fiery-looking dust.
Questions were rushing through Hilda's head as she fell, crying out for help.
She hit the floor with a THUMP and felt a hand nudging her.
"Hilda, wake up!"
