Talia was hanging around the clubhouse with some of the Sons when Gemma pulled into the lot in her Cadillac. The matriarch has been housing Hayleigh for the past few days to ensure the girl was okay after being abducted and that meant that Talia got to see her girlfriend more often than she usually did.
When the pair entered the clubhouse, Talia went to greet them both, but the blonde had tears steaming from her eyes as she hugged Talia.
"Halo, why are you crying?" She questioned.
"I got to talk to my Mom." The girl sobbed. "She's alive, Tal. My Mom and my Dad are alive. And I have a little brother."
"Halo, rewind a little. Start from the beginning."
"Since that day, Charming PD has been trying to find the families of all those girls and one of the officers found mine. I was born in Helena, Montana and that's where they all are. They've been looking for me, Tal. They had posters up and they even paid for a billboard ad. The Chief came to your Mom's place this morning and drove me to the station. I got to talk to my parents on the phone and they told me how I got lost. We went on vacation to L.A. and I got separated at the airport because I wanted to ride the merry-go-round."
"That's why you wanted to go there so much. It was familiar." Talia reasoned. "Maybe you would've remembered something else if I'd taken you-"
"Tal, don't. You didn't know. I didn't even know."
"So what happens now?"
"My parents caught a flight and are gonna be here soon. I'm finally gonna go home!" She beamed. "This is gonna be perfect, lovebug. You'll get to meet my family and they can come to our wedding and we'll be so happy."
"Halo…I can't move to Montana."
There was an entire state separating it from Oregon, but it was still too risky for Talia to be there. Besides that, there was no way Happy would let his daughter move to another State without him and Hell would freeze over four times before Gemma allowed her daughter to live so far away from her. If Talia decided to go anyway, she'd be getting dragged back to Charming before she could even settle into the new place.
Talia didn't know a single thing about Montana anyway. While she and Happy have bounced around the states for work, they never had business there and she was sure there wasn't an SOA charter in the state. How was she supposed to earn a living, by getting a 9-to-5 and living morally after all the years she's spent getting her hands dirty? Yeah, right.
"But…we're supposed to get married, Tal." Hayleigh gave Talia a sad smile. "We can't get married if…we're not together…"
And right there, due to those words and the profound meaning they held, was the moment Talia's heart shattered into a billion pieces.
Hayleigh saw her covered in blood and probably looking like something the goddamn Devil would try his damnedest to avoid a few days ago, but she still wanted to get married. It was clear to Talia now, why Hayleigh was calling her so late after that night, why she showed up at the clubhouse the next morning. She wanted to tell her that she accepted it, the blood and gore and killing. She accepted that Talia was a murderer and that she hurt people, especially when someone hurt anyone she cared for. She still loved her.
"You need to be with your family, Hayleigh." Talia softly, yet sternly told the blonde. "Girlfriends come and go, but family is forever and you haven't seen your family since you were a kid."
"You're not just my girlfriend, you're gonna be my wife." Hayleigh argued. "I don't wanna leave without you…I-I won't."
"You can't do that to them."
"This isn't fair! We had everything planned out and we were gonna be happy together. We got through the hard shit and you told me everything and I told you everything and we're happy again. We're supposed to get our happy ending, we earned it."
"Hayleigh, I love you with everything I've got." Talia earnestly told the blonde. "I wouldn't care if you were moving to Pluto, I'll always love you and you'll always have a place in my heart…but you have to go back to your parents and your brother."
"Talia-"
"They thought you were dead or being hurt for years, Halo. Can you imagine how heartbroken and depressed my Mom and Dad would be if they lost me for years? Juice would've wrung his own neck if he couldn't find his kid sister."
"…we've got a couple hours before I never see you again." Hayleigh mumbled. "Make me remember you, Talia."
"How could you forget me? I'm the most awesome person you've ever met." Talia smirked at the blonde before she cupped Hayleigh's face in her hands, sighing when the girl nuzzled into her touch. "And you...you're the most beautiful, sweetest girl that I never deserved."
