Episode 65: The Date
December 10th 9:00 a.m.
*BEEP! BEEP!*
At the sound of her alarm Lapis' eyes shot open while a gasp exited her mouth. Quickly raising herself up she turned to her phone and grabbed it before shutting her alarm off.
Looking at her phone's screen her lips stretched into a smile as she placed it down and got out of bed. Once her feet touched the soft grass she let out a yawn while stretching her arms out. Putting her arms down she rubbed her eyes and turned her head to a large mirror not too far from her bed. Walking up to it her eyes were locked onto her reflection. Her hair was ruffled and her eyes were still sleepy, yet her smile remained.
Today is the day... It's finally here...
Her cheeks started to blush as she planted her hands on them. The thoughts of what today would bring her... This...weird sensation swarming in her mind... In all her years of being alive Lapis has never felt something like this before...yet it felt...good. Really, really good.
Patting her cheeks she narrowed her eyes and nodded at her reflection. Though she didn't have to do it, she sucked in some air and exhaled it out her nose.
"Okay. Time to get ready." She said to herself.
December 10th 9:30 a.m.
Shutting off the water Kameron let out a long sigh right as he opened up the shower curtains. Carefully stepping out of the tub he grabbed a towel and began drying himself off.
Today's the day. - Z said.
Kameron chuckled as he dried his hair. "Yeah, it is." He added as he started getting ready. "Aside from catching up at school and trying to find another job, I'm really looking forward to this."
Same. What are we gonna do with our Water Angel? - Z said.
"I've decided to not think too much about it. Let's just see where the day takes us." Kameron replied.
Z hummed at this. It wasn't such a bad idea. Just enjoying time with Lapis was enough for the both of them. Why should they think hard about what they'll do with her?
As Kameron finished getting himself ready he took a good at his reflection. Normally...he'd looked at himself with a neutral expression, but today he was happy and felt a surge of positive energy flowing inside of himself.
Turning his head to the bathroom door he walked up to it and grabbed onto the doorknob and twisted it before opening it up.
Heading downstairs Kameron turned his head to see his mother and Azurite in the dining room drinking tea. But as he turned his head to the living room he spotted Lapis sitting on the couch. She immediately stood up at the sight of him, giving him a better look at her outfit. She wore a dark-blue sweater with light-blue jeans, a brown scarf, and dark-brown boots.
As Kameron and Lapis locked eyes they slowly walked up to each other.
"Wow... You look...great." Kameron said.
Lapis blushed as she adverted her eyes and held one of her arms. "Lepidolite gave me some fashion tips... I'm...glad you like it."
Kameron smiled at her while his cheeks blushed. "You look nice in anything you wear. As long as you're yourself, you'll look great in it."
Lapis slowly turned her head back to Kameron as her blush started to deepen while she smiled.
"Aw, aren't you two adorable."
Unfortunately for Kameron and Lapis, they remembered that there were still people in the area and turned to Christie and Azurite while their cheeks blushed even further.
"Mom..." Kameron groaned.
Christie placed her cup down as she approached the two. "I'm being honest. You both are so adorable together." She added while softly pinching their cheeks.
Lapis started groaning as Christie stopped pinching them.
Azurite soon approached them while intertwining her fingers together, "I hope you both have a fun day today."
Turning to her friend Lapis smiled at her and nodded, "Thanks." However, her smiled was slowly fading as a thought came to her mind, "It doesn't bother you that I'm dating your brother, right?"
Azurite shook her head. "Of course not. I do not decide who you should be in a relationship with, Lapis. I love my brother very much, and you loving him this way is okay with me."
Lapis let out a small sigh, feeling glad that small thought was dealt with.
"You ready to go?" Kameron asked.
Lapis turned to him and nodded. With that confirmation they both turned around and head out the door.
December 10th 10:30 a.m.
To start the date between Kameron Evans and Lapis Lazuli, their first stop was Glacier Peak.
Glacier Peak was very, very popular around this time of year. Not to mention a very fun hangout for anybody who wanted to chill or show off a little if they wanted. With Winter just starting out, this was your go-to place for any kind of fun activities.
Arriving in the parking lot Kameron took quick glances from left to right and luckily found a spot near the entrance. Parking the car he turned off the engine right before him and Lapis got out. Shutting their doors the duo soon walked toward the massive building in front of them before heading inside.
As they got inside Lapis' eyes slowly widened at the environment. Just several feet ahead of her was a large area of ice with several humans gliding on it. Her wonders were then mixed with curiosity.
"How are people doing that?" Lapis asked.
Kameron turned his head and grinned, "You're about to find out. But first we're gonna need some ice skates."
Lapis tilted her head a little as she looked at him with confusion. Though she shrugged, deciding to wait until they were prepared to fully understand what they were going to do here.
Walking up to the nearest counter the duo approached an elderly woman. As her gaze was placed on Lapis her lips slowly grew into a smile.
"Well...It's been some time since I've seen a Gem come here. How are you, dear?" The elderly woman asked.
"Umm...I'm doing well. It's my first time coming here." Lapis replied.
The elderly woman hummed as her eyes were then placed on Kameron, "And I see you've got such a handsome boyfriend to help you, sweetie."
Kameron's cheeks started to burn at the word "boyfriend", though he took it well as he grinned. "I'll be sure to help her as much as I can." He added while looking at Lapis.
The elderly woman hummed at the duo while giving off a small clap for them. "What are your sizes?"
"I'm a size 11-12." Kameron answered as he pulled out his wallet.
"And you dear?" The elderly woman asked, looking at Lapis.
"Oh... I...don't really have a size. I'll just look at the skates and mimic their appearance on me." Lapis replied.
The elderly woman tilted her head, but nodded as Kameron gave her the required amount of money before turning around to the racks. Taking her time the elderly woman scanned her eyes up and down until she found the correct pair. Pulling them out she turned and walked up to the counter before giving them to Kameron.
Thanking the elderly woman the duo soon made their way to the rink. Coming up to a good spot they both sat down on a bench right as Kameron took his shoes off and placed them on a open rack. Once that was done he picked up his ice skates and showed them to Lapis. Taking a good long look at them Lapis shifted her eyes from the ice skates to her boots. With the imagery in her mind her feet glowed blue right until they turned into the ice skates.
Kameron soon put on his own skates and made sure they were on tight to avoid any form of looseness. With the ice skates firmly on he raised himself up off the bench and slowly walked up to the rink before grabbing onto the safety bars and slowly placing himself onto the ice. Turning his head to Lapis she carefully got up and slowly approached him while putting her hand into his. Watching Kameron slowly move along she stretched her leg out and made contact with the ice.
Right as she did her weight immediately shifted, propelling her forward right as she quickly embraced Kameron.
"You okay?" Kameron asked while holding her with one arm.
Lapis held onto him for a moment as she lifted her head up, having her eyes lock onto his. "Y-Yeah. I just...wasn't expecting how slippery the ice was."
Kameron continued to hold her without glancing at the onlookers as he helped her stand with his holding arm.
"Don't worry. It takes a while, but with practice it'll be worth it." Kameron assured. "Although it's been a while for me too, but let's focus more on you, okay?"
Lapis nodded as Kameron slightly distanced himself from her while keeping his grip on the safety bar.
"Okay. Our first lesson is balance. Hold onto my hand and watch me sway my legs on the ice. We're gonna go a bit slow and pick it up a little as we go around. Okay?" Kameron instructed.
"Okay." Lapis replied.
Letting go of Lapis' hand Kameron quickly turned around and planted his other hand onto the safety bar while is other other hand took Lapis'. Taking a breath he pushed his body forward, making both him and Lapis move.
Directing her eyes onto Kameron's legs Lapis carefully watched them sway from left to right as they moved. Little by little her legs started to mimic his movements as their speed was increasing, but not too much. The more they moved the more she was getting the hang of it. Her grip on Kameron's hand increased as did their speed. It felt...almost like she was flying, only...her wings weren't out and she wasn't airborne. She was on a large layer of ice with her legs moving and her hand was in the hand of her...boyfriend.
Boyfriend... That concept was still new to her. Kameron was a boy and has become a very, very close friend to her. But the word itself had a completely different meaning than what it is intending to be. She was told by her friends that a "boyfriend" was a male who was very important to a female. And Kameron was very important in her life. And so...he is her boyfriend just like how she is his girlfriend.
"You doing okay, Lapis?" Kameron asked.
Her train of thought was interrupted by his voice as she looked at the back of his head.
"Y-Yeah. I'm doing okay." Lapis replied.
"Okay. We're gonna slow down and I'm gonna let go. I'm gonna watch you and if something happens I'll help, okay?" Kameron addressed.
Lapis blinked at him as his speed decreased, making her go ahead of him right as their hands separated from each others. Now being on her own Lapis' pupils started to dilate while her legs resumed. Closing her eyes for a brief moment she slow composed herself as her legs were swaying. Kameron was behind her. He was right behind her in case something happened. It's fine. Everything was going to be fine.
Watching Lapis Kameron carefully watched her without trying to make himself look like a creep. Back and forth. Back and forth he saw her legs swayed as she made her way on the ice. The more he watched the more he smiled. Getting out and just...living life. Living... That word brought a warm sensation through his body. A sensation he hadn't felt in some time. A feeling...like...you're experience something incredible and you can't even begin to describe it in words.
Kameron soon smirked as he caught up to Lapis and released his hand from the safety bar. Moving himself up to her left side she turned her head to see him next to her.
"You said you were gonna stay behind me." Lapis said.
"I changed my mind." Kameron replied. "I'd thought it be best to skate next to you instead."
Lapis' cheeks blushed, but his words also made her smile.
"Do you got the hang of it?" Kameron asked.
Lapis nodded as they continued gliding through the ice.
December 10th 11;30 a.m.
For over an hour the duo skated. It was just them, the ice, and how they traverse on it. They couldn't go any faster due to other people on the ice, but that was just fine. There was no reason for them to go over their limits anyway since all that mattered was being with each other.
With their interests in skating slowly depleting they got off the ice and exited the building.
"So...what should we do now?" Lapis asked as they walked to the car.
"What do you want to do?" Kameron replied as he stopped in front of her while his hands in his pockets.
Lapis looked at him with slight confusion, "You're asking me?"
Kameron nodded. "The world is ours, Lapis. While there are limits, we can do whatever we want. That's how dates are."
Lapis hummed at him as she turned her attention to the open skies. Right then and there an idea hit her.
"Can we leave you're car here?" She asked.
Kameron cocked an eyebrow at her while turning his head to his car and back to Lapis. It didn't take him long to understand what she was implying. Giving her a nod he then lifted his hand and snapped his fingers. From the snap small clusters of crystals erupted from the ground near the car and began to wrap themselves around the wheels.
"Just in-case some jackers get stupid." Kameron explained.
Lapis nodded as Kameron put his arm down as Lapis went behind him and embraced his backside. Tightening her grip on him Kameron reached for the top of his head and pulled his goggles over his eyes.
"Hold on tight." She whispered in his ear.
That was Kameron's only warning as Lapis summoned her wings, and with a single flap they ascended into the air.
Flapping her wings to gain speed Lapis held onto her boyfriend tightly. Kameron placed his goggles over his eyes while holding onto Lapis' arms. Being high in the skies wasn't anything new to Kameron, but...being in the sky with his new girlfriend sent a warm sensation through his chest. His lips smiled as the cold gales hit them.
Pushing themselves higher and higher Lapis soon shifted her direction and pushed herself forward. Up ahead she took notice of buildings coming up and swiftly passed them. Turning her head she saw several people in the buildings whom looked at her with confusion or awe. She paid no mind to them as she kept going.
Passing more and more buildings the couple soon went further airborne and exited the city. Where they were going? It didn't matter as they had the whole skies to themselves.
Kameron tilted his head down, seeing a large orchard of trees in the distance.
"Hey, Lapis. Can we fly toward those trees?" Kameron asked.
Looking down at the trees below Lapis responded by descending herself and her boyfriend toward the trees. Picking up some speed Lapis soon curved herself up right as they traversed through the groups of trees.
"How come these trees don't have leaves?" She asked.
"Because it's Winter. During this time of the year all of the trees lose their leaves from Autumn and will get them back once Spring comes back." Kameron answered. "To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of this season since most animals start their hibernation cycles." He added.
"Hibernation cycles?" Lapis questioned.
"Some animals get themselves ready to take a very long nap. They rest through the entirety of Winter and don't wake up until Spring comes in." Kameron explained. "I get a little bummed at that since I like to add some animals into my drawings whenever I'm at my usual spot."
Lapis giggled a little.
Soon enough the couple left the group of trees and continued onward.
December 10th 12:00 p.m.
In the skies the couple looked on and saw another collection of buildings in the distance.
"What's that?" Lapis asked.
"Empire City." Kameron answered. Looking down at Central Square he saw how much of the city's been repaired. Pair of him was glad to see it, but another pair of him felt a surge of guilt from what happened to it.
"What kind of things happen in Empire City?" Lapis asked.
"Lots of things." Kameron answered. "There's a saying to it: It's known as the city that never sleeps."
"How come?" Lapis asked.
"Mainly from how busy the city gets from time to time. Like an ordinary girl challenging the city. Getting a job at a coffee shop, coming home to a roommate who drives her crazy, and doing her best to survive the day the best she can." Kameron answered.
Lapis hummed at his answer and gave it some thought. Honestly...she didn't fully understood what her boyfriend had told her, but...doing the best you can to survive the day was something she could totally relate to. And that's speaking from experience.
"Do you want to explore the city?" Kameron asked.
Lapis shook her head. "Nah. Maybe another time."
Passing by Empire City Lapis noticed another city nearby. "What's that place over there?" She asked.
Looking at her direction Kameron saw the place she was referring to. Just giving it a glance was enough to make his eyes narrow. "Oh, that's Jersey. I wouldn't want to come here at all. The air is always clouded with smog, the people here are always in a bad mood, and once I found some kid messing with some Gem-Tech." He answered.
Lapis' eyes widened once she heard that. She's seen and used technology before, but the thought of humans using her kinds tech would cause a plethora of problems for everyone.
"Umm...what happened to the kid?" Lapis asked curiously.
Kameron hummed before answering, "Well...one only wanted to get a girl to notice him, which was the reason he used a device that'll control the minds of others. I managed to stop him and warned him of the dangers that came into using technology like that. As for the girl... She freaked out and wanted nothing to do with him anymore."
Lapis groaned a little at that. Seriously? A kid did all that just to have a girl talk to him. If that was the amount of damage a kid is able to do, then the amount an adult can do would be devastating.
"Hey!"
Hearing that voice Lapis stopped in the middle of the air, making her and Kameron look down at a guy in a white tank-top glaring at them.
"Get out of our skies, ya freaks!" The guy yelled while throwing a shoe at them.
His throw was very weak, barely hitting Kameron or Lapis at all.
"Up yours, old man." Kameron called out.
"Go jump in a river." Lapis added as they took off.
Some giggles left the couple as they took off, getting far away from Jersey.
December 10th 12:30 p.m.
Out in the skies the couple found themselves above a large body of water. No more buildings, no more smog, no more people, just each other.
Up ahead Lapis suddenly locked her eyes at the one place she never thought she would ever seen again: The Galaxy Warp. The moment she laid eyes on it her mind began to...become...blank. More than that, the memories from this location started to come in at a rapid pace. All that she could do right now was just...look, silently.
Kameron turned his head and noticed the expression on his girlfriend's face. A wave of concern came into his mind. Right as he attempted to ask her what was wrong he started to feel her grip on him decrease.
"Lapis, are you okay?" He asked.
She gave no response as her grip strength decreased even further, causing him to grab her hands.
"Lapis, please talk to me! I'm slipping here!" Kameron called out.
His grip on her was starting to lessen further and further right until his grip weakened...making him let go of her.
"LAPIS!" Kameron yelled.
A gasp exited Lapis' mouth right as she looked down...to see her boyfriend fall through the air and heading straight into the open waters below. Her eyes immediately expanded right as she gave her wings a huge flap and burst toward him. Flapping her wings more and more Lapis stretched her arms out and caught Kameron in them right before he touched the water. With her boyfriend in her arms she quickly ascended into the skies.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" She apologized quickly as her grip increased on him.
"It's okay, It's okay. It's not your fault!" He replied while hugging her. Turning his head he saw what caused her to let him go. Closing his eyes he opened his mouth, "You probably don't want to, but...can we land there?"
Looking down at the Galaxy Warp Lapis nodded as they descended.
At the moment they made contact with the ground Lapis fell onto her knees while Kameron continued to hold her. It took a moment, but she gathered the strength to get up while separating herself from him. As she did she walked over to the main Warp Pad at the center and saw how damaged it had gotten. Turning her head from left to right she saw nearly all of the Warp Pad in the area were destroyed, except for one near a pillar behind her.
"This... This is where I was abandoned." She said, her voice filled with sorrow. Her joy from earlier was now gone.
Kameron picked himself up as he walked up to her, stopping at her side. "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." He said softly.
Lapis shook her head. Raising her hands up water from below began to crawl it's way up, covering the ground and the Warp Pads in it. Her eyes began to glow blue as the Central Warp Pad began showing images of herself.
"A thousand years ago...I was sent here to help colonize the Earth for Pink Diamond. I was suppose to only be here for a short time, then I'd be able to go back and be with Zuli and Cobalt again. But...that never came to pass." Lapis said softly as the imagery showed her doing what Lapis Lazulis were born to do.
Kameron quietly watched as the imagery began to change, showing him several Gems and humans fighting each other.
"That was when the War began. When it started I tried to run but..." Lapis said as the imagery showed her getting away, but she instead got poofed.
The imagery then showed her Gemstone getting placed on the mirror and showing a myriad of Gems and Humans in the reflection. "I was then trapped and when I was looked at by either Gems or Humans they kept asking me, "Where is your base?" "Who's in charge?" "How do we stop them?" I wasn't sure what to say. The Home-World Gems mistaken me as a Crystal Gem and...I had no other choice but to comply."
The imagery then showed various Gems escaping and the mirror getting dropped before getting stepped on, cracking Lapis' Gemstone. "I wasn't too sure how much time had passed, but I saw the Home-World Gems leaving. I was damaged." She said right as the imagery showed a bright flash of light and...an image of Rose Quartz. "Freedom was in my sight, but out of reach. Until I was found by...Rose Quartz..."
The imagery soon disappeared as the water started to vanish. Lapis' eyes started to dim right as she fell onto her knees again.
Kameron got down on one knee and wrapped an arm around her. "You okay?"
Lapis looked at her boyfriend and then turned her attention at the skies above.
"Even though I have a life of my own now, I still think about the day Home-World will be coming back." She answered. "It's still lingering in my mind. And...I have so much to lose now." She added.
Helping Lapis up Kameron turned his attention onto the skies as well. There was truth in her words. He acknowledged that. It would come and go, but wasn't forgotten.
"I'm not gonna lie and say things will be okay. But...we'll get through this." Kameron said sincerely.
Lapis soon turned to her boyfriend, seeing his solemn expression.
"And...between dealing with G.A.F, Home-World returning, and the rest of the Diamonds, we're gonna win." Kameron said as he turned to Lapis. "This is our home. No-one should decide that for us. We decide what futures we can have. And...with everything I've been through...I'm not gonna face it alone. I have my family, my friends, and...you, Lapis Lazuli. Let's face the future together." He added, holding onto Lapis' hand.
The look in his eyes... The sound of his voice... Having this...new desire in her mind... Lapis was completely unsure on how to even answer him. So...she instead pushed her head forward, pressing her lips onto his.
Kameron was taken back by her actions, but accepted them as he pushed his lips onto hers.
They soon separated from each other and embraced one another.
"I want you in my life, Kameron." Lapis said softly.
"Me too." Kameron replied. "I remembered what you told me before and...along with my own desires, I'll live for you too. You are never alone, Lapis. And neither am I. I'm sorry it took me this long to see it."
Lapis increased her embrace on Kameron. Despite everything she went through, her new life was one she was going to protect. Though hee opinions on Earth varies, she has gained a lot of good things from it. Her friends. New friends. A boyfriend. And a home.
Unbeknownst to both Kameron and Lapis, the more they hugged each other, the more their Gemstones began to glow. The light of their Gemstones grew more right as they were engulfed in it.
Interview#2
Within the white room a light-blue chair stood.
Walking on screen Lapis approached the chair and took a seat in it. Her eyes were then placed onto the Author and the audience in front of her.
Author: Welcome, Lapis. I'm glad you could.
Lapis: Well I wasn't doing anything at the moment, so I thought I would give this a chance.
The Author nodded.
Author: Good. Now, I just want to ask some questions, if you're comfortable with that.
Lapis crossed her arms and crossed a leg over her other.
Lapis: I guess.
Author: Good. Now, first question: How are you ever since you've established the Earth as your home?
Lapis gave his question some thought.
Lapis: I'm doing a lot better than I did before. I still have mixed feelings about this planet, but...there are good benefits from it. Going to school is still weird to me, but...I've learned to manage it. Making new friends was nice. And I'm glad I have a home where I can choose what I want to do.
The Author nodded while writing on a notebook.
Author: Good. Second question: Is there anything on Earth that annoys you?
Lapis narrowed her eyes at the Author.
Lapis: That's a very stupid question to ask, considering what you had me encounter.
The Author realized what she meant.
Author: Right... Last question: Do you love Kameron Evans very much?
Lapis blushed as she uncrossed her arms and leg before standing up and walking toward the Author.
Author: Wait! Wait! I'm sorry! That was a personal-
The Author wasn't given time to explain themselves as Lapis brought out a huge chunk of water and threw it at them.
