Three agents burst into the abandoned lair, guns blazing. They stood in place for a couple of seconds before lowering their weapons and pulling down their masks with a sigh.

The one on the right, a leopard, shook his head. "All that's here are dust bunnies. I don't understand what the Commander was so worried about."

"There was an influx of energy coming from this base. It's better to be safe than sorry," the hyena in the middle replied.

The otter agent on the left threw up his hands. "Come on, Leah. There are small readings of energy coming from this dank place every day. So what if this reading was a little higher? There's nothing here. Shadow's just being paranoid."

"Commander Shadow is just looking out for everyone, Carmen," Leah retorted. "The old commander wouldn't have raised one finger to help, right, Spot?"

Spot scratched his chin. "He also wouldn't have wasted our time when it's so obvious that this base is abandoned." He shook his head again. "Let's just go."

Just when the three turned to leave, the door they came in through slammed shut. Carmen ran to it and started hammering on it with his fists.

"What in Mobius is going on?!" he shouted. He was met with silence. He turned around. "Leah? Spot?"

He then saw what they were staring at. A flash of red light overwhelmed them before they had time to even scream.

To be continued…
