Elena and Bonnie used her bathroom to get ready, and Eliza used her's making sure that all the doors were locked she didn't want anyone seeing her just yet.

A phone ringing caused Elena to pause getting ready and went to answer it. A minute later Eliza heard Elena yelling at Jeremy causing her to roll her eyes at her antics.

Going into Jeremy's bedroom Elena slapped the headphones off his ears.

"Ah god what now?,"

"The pocket watch where is it?,"

"What watch?,"

"The one you stole from mom's box, look Mrs Lockwood just called me freaking out it was on the list Jeremy and she can't find it and she thinks she's the one who lost it,"

"Maybe she did, maybe Tyler took it,"

"Don't you even play that card Jeremy you took, if i go online will I find it on eBay? Is that how you pay for your pot?,"

"Screw you," Jeremy said getting up and going to his bookshelf where he took the watch from where he hid it.

"I would never sell this ok,"

"Then why did you take it?,"

"Because it's suppose to be mine, dad said it goes to the first born son. His father gave it to him now what?," he said slapping the watch down in Elena's hand.

"And he was going to give it to you,"

"Yeah,"

"Look Jeremy it's still yours ok, mom promised Mrs Lockwood what do you want me to do?,"

"Just take it and get out, no wonder I'm closer to Eliza then you," as he said that Eliza puffed up with pride hearing it through the bathroom door.

She was adding the finishing touches to her make up. After winged black eye liner she added a light shade of blue eye shadow and a top coat of light glitter, and a plum color of lipstick.

She went into the bedroom and slipped into her panties, and her strapless push up bra. Then it came for the stunning piece of it all her dress. Sliding in on she looked at herself in her full length mirror on the back of her closet door and smiled at how amazing she looked.

After making sure the coast was clear Eliza unlocked the bathroom door to Jeremy's room and went in. Tapping him on the shoulder his jaw dropped at what he saw when he turned around.

Knowing that his jaw dropping meant it was good she kissed his cheek and went back in her room she didn't want Elena to see her yet. Tonight was going to be all about her, Elena had everyone's attention the rest of the time she wanted one night.

An hour later Jackie, Bonnie and Eliza were arriving at the party. Eliza had used a bed sheet to hide her dress from them and let Jackie drive her impala.

When they parked Jackie got out first straightening out her short black dress, Bonnie was next shaking out the bottom of her tan dress, and then it was Eliza's turn. Stepping out carefully she pulled the sheet away as she stood hearing gasps from those around her as she was fully revealed.

She stood there in a metallic light blue, one shoulder, body fitting floor length dress.

"Holy shit Eliza you look amazing,"

"Thank you Jackie, I found this when I went on my road trip with Jeremy thought it was perfect,"

"It's awesome Eliza," Bonnie agreed.

Together they made their way up to the Lockwood's house. Every eye was on them and Eliza was loving it. She finally felt seen, not as Elena's big sister, but as herself for one night only.

When they got to the main doors they saw a lineup, guess they were starting to do vampire checks again which meant they knew that they were back.

Up ahead Eliza noticed was Vicki in a yellow sundress, on the steps stood Tyler in a light blue suit, mayor Lockwood was in a purple suit, and Carol was in a cream dress.

The girls had entered and had drinks in their hands when they saw Caroline and Damon arrive, she hoped he would behave tonight.

A few minutes later Stefan and Elena arrived with Stefan giving her a wow look and a smile, and she knew he liked her dress too.

Elena took a few minutes to notice and when she did her jaw dropped and a bit of envy flooded her face.

The party was in full swing by the time night hit. People were mingling and talking, complimenting her dress, and dancing.

Jenna showed up and found Eliza and Jackie heading for the display room. Eliza stopped in the doorway knowing she would see the Gilbert part of the room and feel so many emotions.

Jenna understood and she and Jackie each took one of her hands gently leading her in. Up ahead Elena stood looking at the displays with Stefan. The ladies stopped in front of the Gilbert display and sadly looked at it. Eliza wished her mom was still here the council and all the events were her favorite thing to work on, she on the other hand couldn't do much without thinking of her and being unable to help.

Stefan turned hearing Jackie whisper that Eliza would be ok. He gave her a sympathetic look hoping she would be ok.

Jenna turned to leave the room letting Eliza have a minute as she went to snatch a drink from a passing tray.

"Jenna?,"

"Hello Logan,"

"It's good to see you,"

"I thought I might see you here,"

"You knew it,"

"I dreaded it,"

"But was secretly hoping,"

"And now that I have," she said turning to leave.

"Woah hey not so fast I know you, you have a lot more insults in you I can tell,"

"Your hair line's receding,"

"No it's not want to have lunch?,"

"Nope,"

"You haven't changed a bit,"

"Yes I have in more ways then you can expect I'm meaner now," and with that Jenna finally got to walk away from Logan.

Elena was stood by the original guest list and started to read it out loud catching Eliza's attention as she walked over with Jackie.

"The founding families of Mystic Falls Virginia welcome you to the inaugural founders council celebration on this, the twenty fourth of September in the year of eighteen hundred and sixty four. Wow look it's the original guest registry look at all these familiar names. Sheriff William Forbes, Mayor Benjamin Lockwood, Alexandra Mackenzie, and Ramon Mackenzie, and is that Damon Salvatore and Stefan Salvatore?,"

"The original Salvatore brothers," came Damon's voice from behind them.

"Our ancestors tragic story actually,"

"We don't need to bore them with stories of the past,"

"It's not boring Stefan I would love to hear more about your family," Elena said turning to him curious.

Eliza on the other hand stepped up to Stefan's right side and noticed how Damon's eyes blew open in lust, and how Caroline grew angry in jealously.

"Well I'm bored I wanna dance but Damon won't dance with me can I jsut borrow your date?,"

"Oh,"

"I don't really dance,"

"Sure he does you should see him waltz, jitterbug, moonwalk, he does it all,"

"You wouldn't mind would you Elena?,"

"It's up to Stefan,"

"Sorry but I'm not going to take no for an answer," Caroline said reaching forward grabbing Stefan's hand pulling him out of the room to the dance floor.

Eliza was left in the same room as Damon and Elena but turned to look at the guest list again tracing her parent's names she missed them.

"I want to apologize to you for being such a world class jerk the other night when I tried to kiss you there was no excuse. My therapist says I'm acting out trying to punish Stefan,"

"For what?,"

"It's all in the past I don't even want to bring it up let's just say that the men in the Salvatore have been cursed with sibling rivalry. It all started with the original Salvatore brother's," Damon said pointing at the guest list behind him.

Eliza scoffed at how he was trying to mess with Elena, they couldn't even have one night, but what hurt most was him admitting he tried to kiss Elena in front of her.

"The Salvatore and Mackenzie name was pretty much royalty in this town til the war there was a battle here,"

"The battle of willow creek we talked about it in class, confederate soldiers fired in a church with civilians inside,"

"What the history books left out is that the people that were killed they weren't there by accident, they believed to be union sympathizers. Ramon and Alexandra Mackenzie were in there as well," Damon said knowing it would get Eliza's attention and it did.

Eliza turned her jaw dropped, her eyes wet with unshed tears, hearing how her parent's were killed.

"So some of the founders on the confederate side back then had them rounded up and burned alive. Stefan and Damon had someone they loved very much in that church, and when they went to rescue them they were shot, murdered in cold blood,"

"Who was in the church that they wanted to save?,"

"A woman I guess, doesn't it always come down to the love of a woman,"

"Look I'm sorry that you and Stefan have this thing between you but I can't get in the middle of it Damon. I just hope the two of you can work it out,"

"I hope so too," Damon agreed.

Eliza turned to leave passing by Damon brushing past his arm. He turned his head to talk to her but she was faster with leaving then he was attempting to talk.
