Thank you for the kind reviews i was unsure at first about making this story since it's a beloved series with a huge fan base but the support I've received has meant so much to me.
School was finally over when Eliza and Jackie made their way out of the building, she knew Elena played hooky to spend time at Stefan's despite last night. Jeremy waved to Eliza letting her know not to wait for him he wasn't coming home right away.
She unlocked her Impala throwing her bag while Jackie tossed hers into the back seat. Climbing in Eliza smiled at Jackie as they headed home to get ready for her party.
When she got home Bonnie was already pulling up to the sidewalk.
"What did you do fly out of class to get the stuff for tonight?,"
"Nope just skipped last period and told Caroline I had plans, now let's get this place set up," she said grabbing multiple bags from the back seat. Jackie grabbed a handful from her causing Bonnie to gasp as their hands touched.
"You too?,"
"I had no choice was literally dying didn't want to,"
"I understand, I'm happy you chose to live," Bonnie didn't judge as they headed inside.
It took an hour but soon enough the dining room was covered in silver and blue ribbons, a silver Happy Birthday sign, and a nice silver and blue runner on the table.
"How did you manage this?,"
"Silver and blue have always been your favorite colors I knew no other would be good enough," Bonnie gave her one of her classic I know better smiles.
"So who's getting the cake?,"
"That would be me," came Jenna's voice as she entered the house juggling her bag and books in one hand and the box in the other.
Jackie flashed over grabbing the box so it wouldn't fall and headed into the kitchen with it.
"So guests?,"
"Wait and see," Bonnie said as the doorbell rang for the first guest.
When Jenna opened the door she raised her eyebrow in shock at seeing Tyler.
"I was invited, I come in peace," he joked awkwardly.
"Hey Tyler thanks for coming to my birthday party," Eliza sincerely said as she gave him a surprise hug.
"Here I knew you wouldn't want anything flashy so I went hunting through my families things," he said handing her the bag in his hand.
Eliza was intrigued and opened the bag gasping at the item in the bag. Pulling it out she was stunned to see a black beautiful musical jewelry box. Opening it it brought tears to her eyes cause inside on the lid was the engraving of ELM. Tracing her fingers over the initials she felt tears in her eyes with being reunited with her jewelry box.
"Sweetie you ok?,"
"Aunt Jenna it's mine, from 1864 the Lockwood's must have been the ones to clean out my house and kept this,"
"That was sweet of Tyler to return it to you without knowing," Eliza nodded closing the box and hugging it to her chest.
She took a few minutes to compose herself as she re-entered the dining room. Placing the box on the table she walked over to Tyler and wrapped her arms around him hugging him tightly.
He was stunned at first but hugged her back, he didn't ask why he just felt like this moment needed no words.
When she pulled away she smiled at him and took a deep breath as the bell rang again.
When the door was opened again in came Caroline, Matt, Jeremy, Greta, and Sheila all carrying gift bags, though Greta carried a bag and a box so she knew one gift had to be from Nik.
The party started picking up they ordered Chinese food for dinner and Jenna had brought home a bottle of champagne for the celebration.
Everyone was having a good time when the door opened again to reveal Elena and Damon but no Stefan.
"Happy birthday baby girl," Damon greeted kissing her forehead.
"Where is he?,"
"He chose to stay with the newbie to make sure she doesn't escape and terrorize the town,"
"Oh, I'm happy you're here Damon this is all I wanted a small close knit event,"
"I know you were never one for flashy events," Damon kept an arm around her waist as they mingled together.
The night went on Eliza was starting to get tired but kept smiling even though she knew at least 3 people in the room could tell.
"Let's open the gifts Eliza," Jenna suggested giving her a knowing look.
"Sure sounds like a great idea," she agreed as they all gathered around to watch her open the gifts.
First up was Matt, he went with a safer choice and chose to get her a really beautiful pair of blue ballet flat shoes.
"Oh Mattie you didn't have to,"
"I wanted to, you always been my little sister it's the least I can do is spoil you once a year," she giggled knowing he was right.
Greta stepped up next placing the bag down first then the box.
"Bag is from me, box from him,"
"Figured," she snorted as she leaned in to open them.
Greta had found her a really beautiful silver/blueish jacket that she explained was from New Orleans and filled with charms and gifts from her family there.
She was stunned that was a high honor from New Orleans witches. What surprised her even more was the letter that was nestled in the bag, but it wasn't from the witches.
On the front was one name Marcel, a name she long thought was dead. She would read it later in private.
She turned to the box and unwound the ribbon that tied it close. Lifting the lid she gasped at what was inside. She hadn't seen this dress in a thousand years, how did it survive, why did he still have it she had been in his life so many times on and off.
She looked at Greta who gave her a knowing smile and laid a hand on her shoulder. She knew Nik's gift was largely sentimental to her. Reaching in she pulled out the dress to look at it fully after so long. It was a beautiful viking style gown that was a light blue with different symbols sewn in the collar line each one to represent a Mikaelson.
Hugging it close she smiled happily before placing it back in the box.
Next was Damon's gift. He had already given her the news of her family's belongings in the storage unit what else could he have found her.
Inside the bag he handed her was a box, and she opened the black jewelry box from a high end jeweler she gasped. Inside wasn't anything flashy it was a blue heart on a silver chain, a Lapis Luzuli stone, he had made her a day light necklace he knew she would wear when the time came. He would find a way to turn her, or this Nik guy could. Either way she wasn't leaving them ever again.
Elena had been keeping quiet so Eliza could have her night, She wasn't blind she knew she was focused on a lot by people and she didn't want it this time this was about her sister.
When it came time for gifts she stepped up behind her and handed her a rectangle box. Opening it inside laid a photo. It was the last photo taken of their family. Elena must have had the film developed and had chosen to give her this for her birthday.
Caroline who had strangely behaved herself that night had handed Eliza a small box that when opened held a silver scarf. She was grateful for it and sincerely thanked her.
Slowly everyone started to leave. Tyler and Matt hugged her and left together cause Tyler was going to drive Matt home and pick up his truck the next day. Caroline and Bonnie left together too having made plans to do Halloween shopping the next day so she would stay at Caroline's.
Greta was gonna stay the next few nights and head out Saturday morning. Eliza liked that plan. Damon picked up all of Eliza's gifts and walked with her up to her bedroom.
"I could stay the night if you would like?,"
"Damon, I think that would be the greatest gift of all," she agreed.
When they got into her room she grabbed her pajamas entering her bathroom to get ready for bed.
When she came out Damon was laying on her bed shoes off, shirt off, and on top of the covers.
"Always a gentleman huh,"
"For you always," Damon smiled as Eliza climbed into bed and laid her head on his chest. Jenna had set Jackie and Greta up in the living room explaining that she needed the night with Damon to reconnect her bond with him.
They understood and it's not like Jackie couldn't hear if anything did happen.
Eliza yawned as she cuddled closer to Damon who wrapped an arm around her shoulders. He got comfy and together they fell to sleep together, a faint blue bond falling over them mending their broken friendship.
Slowly things were working out for Eliza, her belongings were being returned and so were long lost friends she couldn't wait to see what was next for them all.
