"Okay, so, about the documents." Zeno spoke.
"They were stolen weren't they?" Naomi guessed.
Zeno nervously rubbed his neck while Naomi facepalmed herself.
"Those are physical manila folders! Not digital binary ones! How in they name of Pluto did they get stolen!?" Naomi exclaimed before taking a sip of her coffee.
"Well, I don't wanna point fingers, but, I think it was your brother." Zeno answered.
"He what!?" Naomi wondered.
"I saw some guy with red eyes look at me before jumping from a window." Zeno explained.
There was a brief silence as Naomi let the information sink in.
"Naomi? Hey, Naomi. Can ya hear me?" Zeno spoke.
"I'll call ya back." Naomi muttered angrily before turning off her com.
Naomi then went back to the sanatorium and took a trip to the lab. Naomi slammed the door against the wall.
"Copen! What in the name of the Manilla Galleon have you done!?" Naomi shouted.
"Hey sis I found some folders with some really interesting contents." Copen greeted while waving a manila colored folder around with his right hand.
"What the hell!?" Naomi shrieked.
Copen was rather surprised, Naomi only swore when she was really mad.
'Crap she's pissed. She's going to be even more ticked when she finds out I looked through all of the files, then she'll hate me for life.' Copen worried.
"It's files from the Datastore." Copen lied.
Naomi shook her head after rolling her eyes.
"You're a horrible liar you know that? Zeno told me he saw you stealing the files. And everything in the Datastore is digital!" Naomi refuted.
"But-" Naomi however cut Copen off.
"Don't you conjunction me! You took them! I have evidence AND a key witness!" Naomi protested.
Copen sighed before sitting in a chair, head in his hands as he looked down at the files on the desk as Naomi stormed out of the room. Meanwhile, Xana was on Lyoko throwing a 'hissy fit'.
"I almost had her! Almost! I was so close! I could've had an army of supernatural warriors on Earth to keep guard and do my bidding when I reign! But no! Naomi and those accursed Lyoko warriors always foil my plans!" Xana hollered angrily.
Suddenly, Xana got an idea. A very evil, maniacal, and twisted idea.
'I'll lure those accursed warriors and Naomi here by kidnapping Naomi's siblings. All I have to do is find data on them. And I know just where to find that data.' Xana thought.
Meanwhile, Naomi had finished unpacking. So, she decided she would call Aelita. Naomi had used her watch to call Aelita. After the phone rung a few times, Aelita picked it up.
"Hello? Jeremy?" Aelita moaned.
"Ha! You wish!" Naomi laughed.
Aelita slightly jumped but calmed down when she realized it was just Naomi.
"That's the kind of behavior I would expect from Odd." Aelita giggled.
"I'm not scrawny or short!" Naomi protested.
"It's not that! Usually Odd's the one to tease everyone." Aelita laughed.
Naomi facepalmed herself.
"So, what did you call about anyways?" Aelita asked.
"I just found out my brother is a thief. So, when he's asleep tonight, I'm going to take those files back to work. Followed by me publicly shaming him. I'll do that by making a sign that says, 'I am guilty for theft and confess to my crime.'" Naomi fumed.
"He stole files from your workplace?" Aelita pondered.
"Yeah, he stole private, top secret case files and info files on everyone that works at the QUILL office in Japan. Personally though, I kinda wanna look at some of those files before giving them back." Naomi spoke.
"Wait, there's more than one office?" Aelita wondered.
Naomi nodded.
"Yeah, there's one QUILL office in every country." Naomi answered.
Just then, Naomi remembered something.
"Oh carp! The press conference is tomorrow! Thank goodness Copen took those mission files! I really need to look over them! I'm gonna have to end the call and review these files! I'll talk to ya tomorrow!" Naomi exclaimed before ending the call.
Naomi then took some markers and a piece of poster board before leaving the room.
Naomi thought that she would go shame her brother first. So, Naomi wrote what she told Aelita. Followed by her putting the poster board in front of Copen who was sleeping on his side. Naomi then took a photo before posting it online.
Since this was the first time she had to create an account. She labeled it TechnoDrone2798. After she did that, she turned off her watch and entered the lab. She creaked the door open slowly and turned on the light.
Naomi then took all of the files before going back to her room. Naomi then decided she would study the files at work. So Naomi took the files and her coffee before heading out the door. When she got to the tenth floor she saw Zeno pacing.
"Hey! It's okay Zeno! I've got the files!" Naomi exclaimed.
Zeno turned and sighed after seeing Naomi.
"Thank goodness. We really need to go over those files before tomorrow's conference." Zeno explained.
Naomi nodded.
"Do you want me to put them on your desk Zeno?" Naomi offered.
"I think it's best to put them in the filing cabinets where they belong." Zeno suggested.
So Naomi put her coffee on her desk before taking the files and putting them all in their respective locations. Naomi left one of the files out and placed it on her desk. Naomi then sat at her desk and took a sip of her coffee before opening the folder.
Naomi looked at the top of the file to see an area that said 'name'. Naomi didn't think to much of it at first. Until she saw a certain someone's name. When Naomi saw the person's name, (Or need I say code name) she snorted her drink out of her nose.
Luckily, none of the macchiato got onto the file. Zeno noticed this and got Naomi a napkin from the break room. Zeno then walked over to Naomi's desk and gave her the napkin. Naomi noticed the napkin and picked it up.
"Thanks Zeno." Naomi thanked while wiping the desk before wiping her nose.
Naomi then balled the napkin up in her left hand.
"Hey." Naomi spoke.
Zeno looked at Naomi.
"Wanna see a magic trick?" Naomi offered.
Zeno nodded. Naomi covered the napkin with both of her hands. After a few seconds, Naomi opened her hands to reveal a pile of ashes in her hands before using her Gravity Well Septima to lift the ashes to the trash can in the break room.
"I grabbed the wrong file earlier. When I looked, I saw an area that said 'name' on top. I thought it was for the code name for the mission." Naomi explained.
Zeno nodded in understanding.
"Well, I think I'd better get myself a coffee from the break room." Zeno thought aloud.
"Why?" Naomi wondered.
"I'm on watch duty. Tonight's my night to stay here and watch the building." Zeno responded.
Suddenly, Naomi got an idea.
"I can watch the building tonight. I mean, if you want." Naomi suggested.
Zeno turned around, surprised.
"You sure about that Naomi?" Zeno asked.
"Absolutely. I already have a coffee and I need to look over those files." Naomi affirmed.
"Alright, if you insist." Zeno agreed.
Naomi smiled as Zeno left the building. Naomi checked the security cameras before spinning in her chair and happily shouting 'here alone!'. Naomi then took out all of the files about missions after picking up the other one.
However, not even drinking all of her coffee stopped Naomi from falling asleep. On her fourth case file, Naomi conked out. When Naomi woke up, she heard someone's voice.
"This oughta wake her up. I know she likes AViVA." Zeno spoke.
Zeno then turned on Naomi's computer before loading AViVA's new song, Wicked on YouTube. Naomi immediately woke up.
"I said the Pharma Lab did none of you hear me!?" Naomi shouted.
However, when Naomi got her bearings straight, she was really embarrassed.
"Oh my gosh! Did the meeting start!? Are we late!?" Naomi exclaimed worriedly.
"The meeting isn't until 4 this afternoon. It's only 10 in the morning." Zeno explained.
Naomi got up and looked down at her clothes.
"Look at me I'm a mess!" Naomi complained.
"You look fine to me Naomi." Zeno spoke.
"I don't see a problem here either." Moniqa agreed as she looked around the room.
"Well, I'm going home and change just in case." Naomi notified.
Naomi then went back to the sanatorium. When she got there, she walked past Mytyl's room to get to hers. However, Naomi walked a few steps backwards to see Mytyl sick and pink in the face. Naomi then walked in the room and sat on Mytyl's bed. Naomi then sang a song she remembered hearing her mom sing as a nighttime lullaby.
"Fading away, into the light of day. Morning is cold, lonely and gray. Can't ever let go, of this memory's glow. Happiness lost, sends me deeper into sorrow." Naomi sang.
When she was done, Naomi removed her hand to see the pink tint was gone as well. Naomi suddenly heard footsteps approaching.
"Mytyl, I have your-" however, when Nori entered the room, she was very surprised. So surprised in fact that she dropped the tray which held Mytyl's medicine and a glass of water. Naomi, startled, at the sound, whipped her head around worriedly. Naomi breathed a sigh of relief after realizing it was just Nori.
"Back so soon?" Nori quipped.
"I'm really sorry about last night. Turns out I'm still learning about the job. They have some night watch thing where someone stays on the tenth floor all night and guards the place." Naomi spoke.
Nori nodded.
"Well, I hate to change and run. But I'll see you guys later. Promise!" Naomi finished before running to her room to change.
Naomi then changed into a black and blue plaid shirt, blue faded bootcut jeans, black boots, a black with blue hairbow on her ponytail before finishing the look off with her new silver necklace that had the QUILL logo as a blue charm.
Naomi then ran as fast as she could out of the sanatorium. Well, before Nori stopped her in the hallway that was.
"Have you eaten anything yet?" Nori questioned.
"Does an iced macchiato with caramel drizzle count?" Naomi squeaked nervously.
Nori disapprovingly shook her head.
"Wait here." Nori ordered.
Naomi nodded before Nori closed the door. However, the sound of someone walking past stopped Nori in her tracks. Naomi put her right ear to the door.
"She's back?" a woman asked.
Nori nodded.
"She hasn't eaten anything though." Nori informed.
"Children nowadays, when I was a kid, you weren't excused until you ate." The other woman grumbled.
'Oh no! Ms. Francine's probably gonna make me eat an entire salad for this!' Naomi worried.
After hearing what Ms. Francine said, Naomi hurriedly opened the door.
"I'll eat something!" Naomi surrendered.
Ms. Francine and Nori looked down at Naomi. Both rather surprised at what the 14 year old just said. Ms. Francine looked down before walking away. Nori rolled her eyes as soon as Ms. Francine turned her back. Naomi let out a barely stifled giggle.
When Ms. Francine came back, Naomi noticed she had a tray of maple oatmeal with cinnamon topped apple slices, a yogurt parfait with strawberries and a glass of milk. Ms. Francine handed Naomi the tray which she hesitantly grabbed.
Naomi then closed the room door before walking over to Mytyl and sat down next to her bed. Naomi leaned over before sneakily whispered in Mytyl's right ear.
"Did you eat anything yet?" Naomi whispered.
Mytyl shook her head in response. Naomi then grabbed her tray and put it on Mytyl's lap.
"Enjoy." Naomi smiled before turning herself invisible.
Nori then opened the door. She was shocked to see Naomi had just vanished. Ms. Francine noticed this and had her mouth agate in surprise. Little did Nori and Ms. Francine know, Naomi had been working on 'gecko gloves' that would allow the wearer to climb any type of wall.
Even those made of glass. Naomi however thought she'd only be scaling the QUILL building later as a test run. Considering the walls of the building were completely glass.
'I didn't think I'd be crawling on the ceiling.' Naomi thought.
When Naomi was outside of the sanatorium, she made herself visible again. Just as Naomi was halfway to the building, she saw a little girl with her friend eating ice cream. The little girl had blond hair in pigtails. The left one had a pink ribbon while the right one had a green ribbon.
Her shirt was a mix of pink, orange and green. She also had black sleeveless hand warmers, orange jeans, she also had pink Nikes with a hint of green on them. The other girl next to her had reminded Naomi of Yumi.
She had a black long sleeve shirt with holes for the thumbs, black jeans with no pockets, black hi-tops and a black cat hair clip with pink in it's ears. Suddenly, the blond haired girl tripped. Naomi didn't know why. However, upon further inspection, Naomi noticed Viper was standing in the alleyway.
The blond haired girl looked up at her ice cream, which was splattered on the dim sidewalk.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!" Viper snarled.
"I'm sorry." The blond haired girl apologized.
The black haired girl got on her knees to help her friend. When she wasn't looking, Viper kicked over her ice cream. When the black haired girl noticed this, she got angry.
"Hey! What happened to my ice cream!?" the girl wondered.
Viper snickered before stepping on the blond girl's left hand. When Naomi saw this, she was absolutely outraged.
'The bastard. I never though he'd resort to such tactics.' Naomi thought.
"You're a mean mean person!" the black haired girl fumed.
"Oh yeah? Watcha gonna do about it?" Viper teased.
"Sit back and enjoy the show." Naomi spoke.
Viper turned, not expecting to see Naomi.
"What are ya doing here freak?" Viper growled.
"I came so you could join the freak show." Naomi mocked.
The black haired girl sat her friend against the left wall in the alley to help fix her hand. Viper turned his head, and glared down at the girls before growling at them. Viper then looked at Naomi before looking at the cement and muttering something incoherent.
"What's the matter? You so scared of me you can't say anything to my face?" Naomi teased.
Viper looked up before scoffing. And then he smiled.
"Nah, just thinking how I'm gonna bring ya to the boss and telling him how I took ya down single handedly. Man, I can't wait for that promotion." Viper grinned.
"And I can't wait to teach you a lesson." Naomi joked.
Naomi turned and looked at the girls.
"You two might wanna get somewhere safe. Because things are about to get heated. Figuratively and quite literally." Naomi spoke.
The girls nodded before hiding behind some crates. Viper then transformed into his Grimiored form while Naomi transformed into her red gear. The girls were in absolute awe at the scene unraveling before them. Naomi kicked Viper in the face before Viper tried to slide his left foot under Naomi's feet.
However, Naomi used Prevasion to prevent the attack from having any effect on her. Viper then used Feint Assault to attack Naomi. However, when Viper jumped at Naomi, he was shocked by Naomi's Flashfield. After Viper regained his balance, he got an idea.
He created three explosive fire orbs before firing them at the girls. Naomi then pulled the girls close who hugged Naomi in fear. Viper proceeded to use Volcanic Axe. Viper then disappeared into the left wall before dropping down and kicking Naomi in the back of her head.
Suddenly, Naomi felt a warm liquid falling down her back. Naomi wiped the area with her left index finger before viewing the clear liquid on her finger.
'That's!' Naomi thought before passing out.
