Back with Naomi, she was talking to Gunvolt who seemed pretty chill at the moment.
"And you're sure, completely sure, that you weren't fazed by any of this, at all?" Naomi wondered.
"Of course not. I've mastered keeping my emotions in check." Gunvolt responded.
Naomi rolled her eyes.
"Okay, whatever you say. Now let's lock and load for that mission. There's a mission for some Subaquatic Base and I surely don't want to have Arson up my tail for it all." Naomi snarled.
As soon as the two stepped out of the building, Naomi received a call from Franz.
"Yes sir?" Naomi greeted.
"The Sumeragi is forcing me to work with them again for Project Muse." Franz informed.
"Is there anything we can do to help?" Naomi offered.
"I'm afraid there isn't anything you can do but keep yourself and your sister hidden." Franz commented.
"Wait a minute! Joule wasn't kidnapped! She was murdered!" Naomi remembered.
Naomi then looked down and realized she was still on call.
"I promise I'll talk as soon as I can get back to you Mr. Schaeffer." Naomi finished curtly before turning off her watch.
Naomi then turned and looked at Gunvolt.
"Do you know where her body last was?" Naomi asked.
"She was just sleeping in her room. When I came back she was dead." Gunvolt explained.
"Okay, I'll go see what I can do." Naomi notified before going into Joule's room.
Naomi instantly noticed after looking at Joule's limp and lifeless body that her face was so pale it almost looked like she saw a ghost in the afterlife.
"Now, let's see what I can do." Naomi muttered to herself while cracking her fingers.
(Fun Fact: The sound of your bones cracking isn't actually from the bones themselves, but the cartilage in between.)
'I hope that Lumen won't mind me borrowing Reincarnation. I know the last time I sang I revived a human. But I'm not sure that song could revive an Adept.' Naomi thought.
Luckily, Joule came back.
"Huh? What happened?" Joule queried.
"Welcome back to the world of the living!" Naomi teased before walking out of the room.
Naomi then walked back into the kitchen.
"Guess who's alive and well?" Naomi smiled.
Gunvolt then walked into Joule's room and talked with her for a bit.
"What happened to me?" Joule wondered.
"You died somehow." Gunvolt explained.
Joule suddenly winced in pain and grabbed the right side of her neck.
"Are you alright Joule?" Gunvolt worried.
"The right side of my neck hurts. It feels like something bit me." Joule elucidated.
Gunvolt checked the right side of Joule's neck to see what was bothering her. Turns out there was a needle tip an inch long stuck in Joule's neck. Gunvolt then went and talked with Naomi about her possibly removing it via her Metallion Septima.
"I can't believe it! I thought they were all destroyed! They must've made a backup or something!" Naomi fumed.
"Who did what?" Gunvolt questioned.
"The other day I was in the Sumeragi headquarters building after Xana told me about a machine for the group's science class being missing. It could make nanobots, but the Sumeragi took it so they could replicate the machine.
Then they started making shots for practically everything. The bots would identify whether someone was human or Adept. If the person was an Adept, the bots would release melatonin and fall unconscious so the Sumeragi 'Hunters' could take them to the nearest experimentation facility.
If they were human however, the nanobots would die and their immune system would take care of the rest. It appears that there was one shot left and they used it on Joule. How they found us I have no idea other than Nova and or Jota probably gave away your locale." Naomi elucidated.
"Do you think they're making more?" Gunvolt pondered.
"I don't know. All I know is that you and I have to go underwater to the Subaquatic Base. I hear they're doing more shady Septima experiments down there." Naomi remarked.
"Let's get going then." Gunvolt added.
"Wait, we have to monitor Joule at all times. The best thing I recommend you two do is move." Naomi commented.
