I do not own RWBY, the DC Universe, or the Ben Ten franchise. At this point I don't actually know who owns which for sure. I also do not own the cover image, that's just off the internet. Respective rights to their respective creators.
Note: Jaune Arc unlocked his semblance early in this. Before the Fall.
Have fun reading.
Title: Prologue
Lie Ren never considered himself as anything too special. He liked helping people and doing the right thing, but he mostly became a Huntsman, along with Nora Valkyrie, because of the skills he had acquired while homeless and trekking the landscapes of Remnant. The profession didn't require anything else of him than his combat skills, gave him the opportunity to save other villages like his own from suffering the same fate, and offered an income where he and Nora would no longer have to worry about basic amenities and shelter if they were good enough. Plus Nora was a hyperactive ball of destructive energy and it was best to channel that towards the Grimm.
Though it wasn't like their entire life post-Kuroyuri was just hiding from Grimm in forests trails and exploring the vast wilderness as homeless children. They had found places that would take them in and teach them. This was how Ren learned the Mistralian Aura Arts his signature martial arts, and how he and Nora managed to scrounge up enough to make their weapons. But they never truly settled down in one place for long, Nora's behavior often getting them in trouble or their lack of family often leading to scrutinization from most people. Many ignored them, many feared their negativity would draw the grimm (which was an ironic cycle), but many still, shed a hope for humanity and helped them where they could.
They were 17 when they entered Beacon Academy, a training grounds for future Huntsmen and Huntresses, and where he and Nora met their second family in their friends.
They were also 17 when Beacon was attacked and traumas resurfaced as everything fell.
He was pulled out of his traumatized state by his leader, Jaune. He said something about following Pyrrha.
After that, a lot of what happened was a blur. Fighting through swathes of Grimm with Storm-Flower he matched his leader's pace as they ran - towards the headmaster's office?
When they got there, there was a comatose patient in some strange machine pod. Next to the machine and talking to Pyrrha was Headmaster Ozpin.
Ren didn't know what was going on, but it seemed like Pyrrha got into the pod next to the comatose girl, the two pods seemed connected for some reason. Maybe the same air filtration system?
What he does know is that Jaune said something to Pyrrha, then Ozpin had asked the two of them to stand guard.
They did. The machine whirred to life.
Pyrrha screamed and Jaune broke his guard to run to her.
Ren wanted to too, but he activated his semblance for any hint of aid it could give him and kept guarding whatever was going on. If Pyrrha was in danger/trouble he would trust his leader to take care of it.
With Jaune's semblance, he would be able to pull Pyrrha from the brink of death if need be.
It was because he kept his guard and rationale that he was able to react to an arrow being shot from the dark.
His speeds may not have been on par with Ruby, but agility and reflexes were his fighting style. He struck at the flying arrow with Storm Flower's blade and got into a prepared fighting stance expecting more.
He used his semblance to help him keep his cool as the screaming behind him got louder.
That arrow was aiming for the pod with the comatose girl.
Ren doesn't have a clue of who she is, or what's going on, but he wasn't about to let whoever just shot from the dark take her life.
Then he heard the sounds of heels approaching from the dark, lit up by a golden fiery glow.
Out from the dark came the Haven transfer student, Cinder Fall. A bow and arrow in hand.
He doesn't know why she was sashaying like that while holding a weapon or why she didn't continue to take shots form the dark, but this worked more to his advantage anyways. Something he learned a long time ago with Nora, sometimes people just had quirks that didn't need to be understood.
He would assume hers is a need to be dramatic or something.
She notched her arrow and fired. Again. Again, and again.
Ren wasn't nearly a skilled enough marksmen to shoot all of those down midair.
But Ren wasn't originally a marksman. No he was an Aura Martial Artist.
He coated the two blades of Storm Flower with his pink aura and swiped, letting loose two aura blades.
Two of the arrows were knocked away, and he deflected the third physically.
He didn't like the look on Cinder's face or especially in her eyes.
She notched another arrow while stalking forward. This one coated in flames.
He fired at her before she could release it, but his bullets melted as they reached her. Those were Dust bullets, just how hot was her flame? He prepared to deflect again.
Then Jaune stood next to him and a little in front, form crouched and shield up. They nodded at each other and that was all that needed be said.
Ren poured his Aura into his gun-blades again, and Jaune did the same with his shield - amplified aura of course.
The woman in front of them's smirk disappeared. She was getting serious. Her right eye lit on fire.
He thought he heard his leader gulp.
The battle was long, endurance draining, and way too hot. The heat kind. Or at least it felt that way, in reality it was all probably only a couple minutes at best rather than the hours it felt like.
He silently vowed to train his stamina, endurance, and aura more after all this was done. Maybe his reaction speeds too considering he was beginning to just barely keep up with the arrows now.
But alas, the fight came to an end when Pyrrha came out of the pod.
A flame over her left eye, staring Cinder down and barely giving even a glance in their direction.
That didn't feel like Pyrrha.
His gut dropped.
He really hoped he was mistaken.
He had seen the aura flow through the tubes earlier but purposely ignored it to remain on guard.
He hadn't known what he was guarding, but he sincerely hoped he didn't just help forever change his friend in some fundamental way.
Ozpin stood next to them as well, with his cane ready.
Well, whatever was going on, there was no chance for Cinder Fall here. Not against all of them.
But instead of retreating like he was somewhat hoping, something he would have had trouble believing had he not seen it before his very eyes started happening instead.
Pyrrha and her charged at each other. Pyrrha started summoning a localized hail storm on her opponent and throwing around lightning strikes. She absolutely could not do that before! He thinks. He hopes at least he knew his friend better than that, and that said friend would tell him if she could do THIS.
He decided to use one more of his martial arts while his opponent was distracted, he had Jaune super charge him and pushed his aura into a non-dust bullet. He typically wouldn't have nearly enough aura to do this, only being able to in theory before, but thanks to Jaune he may finally be able to pull this off.
He took aim, and fired.
A comet like streak of pink and white light burst forth through the scene and hit Cinder Fall dead on.
Her Aura shattered and she was launched back.
There. That should deal with her.
Or apparently not. Because whatever was going on with that fire, it seems like it didn't need her Aura to use. Which was driving him crazy, or would be more so if he hadn't had his semblance active.
Well it still took away her biggest defense, and who might've been Pyrrha went in for the kill.
He winced. That was gruesome. But she wasn't dead yet.
Seeming to have formed an armour out of ice in the instant before an attack could connect.
She ran away then. He dropped his Semblance.
"What was that? What's going on?!"
Which may have been the second most frantic his team's ever seen him. The first being after learning Nora got ahold of the coffee instead of ho chocolate. Which she had also dumped half a ton of sugar into (not really but the point still stands), because that's what she would do with her hot chocolates, as if they weren't sweet enough already.
It was Ozpin who answered, "There is much to explain later Mr Lie, but for now it is imperative to protect the Academy and Vale from this attack."
The three members of of JNPR sans Nora steeled their eyes, nodded to each other, and went to exit the apparently secret basement under the Headmaster's office.
They decided to group up with Nora first, by tracking her scroll. It didn't take long to find the cackling girl going crazy on the Grimm and breaking the legs of the White Fang. Since they were here too apparently.
Lots of "apparently"s today.
With the Team plus Ozpin back together they quickly mowed down countless Grimm. Even managing to save Team CRDL who were protecting some civilians from being mauled to death. They gathered the group and led as best an evacuation as they could, with Jaune and Ren doing their part of quelling the gathered crowd's negative emotions, and Team CRDL helping defend everyone.
"Pyrrha"'s voice had a strange echoing quality to it and one of her eyes looked to almost be glowing an amber color, urging that she had to go after the mastermind. Ozpin stated he would go with her.
Jaune veto-ed that.
It took all of them together to fight off that woman after all, and while the Headmaster didn't fight her himself, he obviously looked determined to die. Ren recognizes those eyes unfortunately.
He said they would deal with her together once all the civilians were safe.
Something told Ren it was less about prioritizing and more about keeping Pyrrha from going there alone. He may have been ignoring the Headmaster going with her.
On their way to Bullheads while protecting the civilians, they came across the burning cafeteria with Yang and Blake inside facing off against a red headed bull horned faunus.
White Fang, he recognized. This would do wonders for their image. Surely.
Jaune instructed Nora to help them. "Break his legs." \
While they kept the crowd calm and safe.
The red haired man seemed to be overpowering Blake and Yang, but the addition of Nora to the mix gave them a more even footing evidently.
Then his eyes widened as a powerful Aura slash came from his blade towards Nora.
Next thing he knew Ozpin was suddenly standing in front of the blast with a green shield of sorts blocking the attack.
He and Jaune were both immensely grateful to the Headmaster then and there.
Jaune looked almost panicked, even through his amplified semblance, at almost getting Nora killed due to a misjudgment.
Ren wouldn't hold it against him. He was just glad that Nora was safe now.
Well, at least not the target anymore.
It didn't take long for Ozpin to overpower and knock out the red haired man at all.
Yang looked shell shocked. Which of course she would, Nora intervened and hit the man back just as he was about to dismember her.
Their timing really cut it close.
For some reason Blake looked almost just as shocked.
The two joined their growing party as they collected more civilians on their way to the bullheads.
Once they finally got everyone to safety, Jaune was considering his next order as leader. Not just Beacon, Vale was under attack as well, but he could tell that Pyrhha was going to head towards the mad woman if they got on that bullhead. He deeply sighed and steeled himself.
"By show of hands, who here is confident they can protect the bullhead from the airborne Grimm?"
A couple of students raised their hands, "Okay, 2 of your teams will go with the civilians. Protect them, and protect Vale. The other 3 should stay here to fight off the Grimm and escort other civilians to the remaining Bullheads. Teams JNPR plus Yang, Blake, and Professor Ozpin will go after the mastermind of this attack and handle any White Fang within Academy Grounds. Any objections?"
There were none.
"Okay. Good. Decide amongst yourselves, we'll get going now. And remember keep everyone calm. Use breathing exercises or something."
"Yang, Blake, contact Ruby and Weiss, see if they need help or are good to come help us."
The two girls nodded.
Ruby carried Weiss with her in a way that made Jaune sick just looking at them as they made their entrance.
Turns out they had cleared out the Grimm in their area. Impressive.
Ozpin somehow knew where Cinder Fall, if that was her real name, was and led their sizeable force of two teams and presumably one of the best huntsmen in the world towards her.
They were heading back towards Beacon Tower, the Headmaster's office.
That's when they heard it. The screech of the giant Grimm that instilled fear in everyone.
A Giant monstrous Grimm Wyvern a little over half the size of Beacon Tower itself, if not the same size.
Everyone slowed in their tracks. Then Ozpin looked towards Ruby, turned resolute, and asked them to continue.
Everyone looked at him like he was crazy, which Ren was really starting to consider. And he's lived with his fair share of crazy.
Okay, not everyone, Pyrrha looked contemplative, and Nora looked excited. Too excited. Yeah... he has to question her sanity too sometimes.
Ozpin could evidently see not everyone was so willing to follow him to their deaths, so he sighed and dropped a bomb on them.
"Okay, you are about to learn some of Remnant's biggest secrets."
"Magic is real. There is a queen of the Grimm, and Cinder Fall is her underling. That Grimm Wyvern is very likely under her control right now."
"Wha-"
"It's true."
Attention turned to "Pyrrha" when she spoke.
"I have another voice in my head right now, her name is Amber, and she was one of the people who had Magic. Now I have that. Well half of it, Cinder has the other half. The story of the Four Maidens is true. Amber was one of them."
"...Okay then. Why not. We'll unpack THAT later. But, SO what? We can't fight that thing! The thing's as big as the school tower!"
Jaune spoke first, just beating Ruby to the punch.
Ozpin answered, "Ruby Rose. Do you remember what I said when we first met?"
"Uhhhhhhhhh, yeaaaaah?"
"Silver Eyes have Magic properties as well. You should be able to Petrify that Grimm with them. The rest of us would be able to put up a fight against the half-maiden Cinder."
""WHAAAAAT?""
Apparently all of Team RWBY shared that sentiment. Though Blake only showed so with widened eyes instead of screaming out like the others.
"I HAVE SUPER COOL MAGIC POWERS?!"
"Indeed."
"WOAH. HOW?! HOW DO I USE THEM?!"
Well she was obviously excited about this.
"Feelings of protection, or preventing a loss. Strong emotions. If you feel a stinging behind your eyes, don't resist it."
Ruby's mouth was held agape.
Yang looked like she was getting angry.
Ren used his Semblance, "Getting angry won't solve anything right now."
Yang huffed and pulled her arm away from Ren, her rising emotions quelled.
Jaune, ever the reliable, asked an important question, even if a harsh one, "What if she can't tap into it? She's probably never done something like that before. Is there a more surefire way to activate this super special petrifying eyes magic?"
Ruby leveled a stare at Jaune he pointedly ignored. "Hey!"
"There may be one. Magic is separate from Aura and Semblances, but they can still interact with one another. If you amplify her enough, she may be able to tap into the ability easier than otherwise, short of using an illusion to jump start her fears that's the best I can think of right now."
"Alright." Jaune looks at Ruby, "I can do that. Ruby, you up for it? Want to give it a shot?"
She gave Jaune a cocky grin and replied with, "Let's go be heroes, Jaune."
Jaune matched her grin and nodded.
They then looked to the rest of their respective teams.
"I'll always be there with you Jaune."
"You can count me in, you dolt."
"Let's break some witch and dragon legs Fearless Leader!"
"I'm not leaving my little sis to go there alone. Not when it's so dangerous."
"I'll follow."
That left Blake looking the most hesitant. She looked like she just wanted to run away.
"Hey, we'll understand if you don't want to go up against That, Blakey."
She deeply sighed and gathered her resolve, "No, no. I'll- I'll go with you. Let's kick some butt."
""Whoo!""
They all steeled their attention towards a fondly smiling Ozpin, "Let's go."
Atop was a red witch waiting for whoever would come fight her, as she knew at least the headmaster Ozpin would have to. If not, then she was simply waiting, like a Queen in her throne room for the dust to settle so that she can sweep up what is rightfully hers.
Enjoying the power and view as she watched those running around like ants from the Headmaster's office. Her aura recovering from her earlier bout.
Then the elevator doors opened and the flaming shield of one Pyrrha Nikos flew at her. She would claim that power which is rightfully hers.
She caught the shield with one hand. Of course. Had to show everyone that gathered just how much better she was than all of them.
That overconfident arrogance would become her downfall.
Everyone else but Ruby and Jaune joined in on the fight. Coordinating as best as they could within the comparatively small office space.
But their teamwork was solid. Especially Team WBY's. Managing to get attacks in whenever Pyrrha/Amber wasn't on the fore barrage.
{Insert Epic Fight Scene Here}
They were whittling down the half-maiden villain who was the cause of so much strife and destruction.
The office was half destroyed by the giant Grimm Wyvern who's part of their eyes were staring inside, specifically at the beacon of red and white aura building like a pillar.
Ruby Rose focused on the feeling of wanting to protect her friends, to protect everyone. Jaune had been amping her since they all got into the elevator.
She could feel something building up in her, but she was pretty sure most of that was her aura. Or Jaune's aura? It felt nice.
She shook that thought away and tried to focus on the feelings of making sure everyone didn't die. But she was somewhat struggling.
Ozpin saw this and apologized quietly as he motioned a hand towards her, out of everyone else's notice.
Next thing Ruby saw was a vision of all her friends laying defeated in front of her in pools of their blood collecting together into one major pool.
She screamed. "NOOOOOOoOOOoooooOOOOOooo!"
Silver flooded the world as every Grimm in Beacon and some in Vale nearest to Beacon, turned to stone.
"AGHHHHHHHH!" And Cinder Fall Screamed in pain.
But before she fell the flash of silver light that burned her being, she shot one last arrow while everyone was distracted. Right at The Invincible Girl herself.
Only she got lucky, and stumbled to the side just out of shot.
The arrow instead struck Ozpin.
"NO!" Jaune shouted with wide eyes as he noticed and rushed over to Ozpin.
Half his aura was gone with amplifying Ruby. Ruby who was now watching the world move in slow motion as she collapsed from the drain and pain of her Silver Eyes first use.
"Weiss catch Ruby!"
She used her glyph to do so.
"It's going to be okay, Professor Ozpin. I'm going to heal you, alright?"
The spot where the arrow hit and disintegrated was constantly burning and trying to spread the burn outward, with Jaune's and Ozpin's amplified aura fighting against its spread. Only managing to slow it down.
Gave Ozpin enough time for some words, "I am proud to have you all as my students. Do not worry too much about Miss Roe, she will be alright. The first time is just taxing. *Cough cough* And worry not about me, I am immortal, for better or worse. I'll be back. I always do. In fact this is for the best. But until then, keep up the good work Teams RWBY and JNPR, you're doing great."
Then in a flash of very bright green light they disappeared.
But so did everyone else.
AN: Alright. The prologue. This chapter will be the same across each of these stories, and there will be multiple. For the different viewpoints. Everyone will be separated by this Isekai. In case that wasn't obvious, this is an isekai. No it is not like the JL Crossover movies.
This specific story will follow the perspective of Lie Ren.
The next story will follow Jaune Arc and Ozpin.
Then other pairs or singles. All Isekai'd to the DC universe.
The connected stories will all have the "Superhero:" pretext in the title.
The way I'm doing it, is when people travel through dimensions they attract "Dimensional Energy" (which is basically Pure Chaos) and change in some way to fit the new dimension they ended up in.
However, in the case of Teams RWBY and JNPR, they're trip across dimensions will actually act like a Magnet pulling in either "Items"/"Powers" across other dimensions to their person.
In case the title wasn't obvious, Ren here will wake up with a fancy new watch on his wrist.
I'm still deciding the others. Though possibly will give Ruby a Zanpakuto.
Feel free to leave suggestions.
