However, Naomi woke up at midnight to a call from Zeno.
"Hey man, you up?" Zeno asked.
"I am now." Naomi mumbled.
"Aight, we've got a problem. There's an unknown Adept on a rampage. We dunno who they are but they're leaving bone shards and blood as a trail." Zeno informed.
"Well how do you know it's an Adept?" Naomi interrogated.
"There's reports of a gunshot sound before blood and bones start flying but the target's reported to have no weapons on them." Zeno elucidated.
"Why are we going around them then? Can't they get a SWAT team or somethin' ta do it?" Naomi yawned as she sheated her sword.
"Ya said you were itchin' for a fight right? And now you're givin' up on the chance? I thought ya were hyped. By the way, why didn't ya come back after eatin'?" Zeno queried.
Naomi cut the call short since she didn't want to tell him what happened.
After messaging Moniqa for the coordinates, she realized they were near S-FIT. To learn more about her target, Naomi researched and listened to every news report about the mysterious individual available. Even using her login info to log into the Sumeragi's website with her Azure Striker. Ever since the S-FIT building blew up, the Sumeragi took down their website; hoping to cover up any evidence of the incident.
Even though the Sumeragi was basically the Japanese government, they still decided to use .com on the web address. Naomi knew she was most likely if not definitely going to be tracked, hacked or found by the Sumeragi for that login and those searches but decided the benefits outweighed the consequences. But then Naomi realized there was worse and far more consequences to her actions than she previously knew. She used a QUILL server so the Sumeragi might see the IP address and track its location. Which means the locale of QUILL's main office building could be exposed. It coul've already been exposed. Deciding that it couldn't wait any longer, Naomi called Moniqa as she stood atop abuildings roof across the street from S-FIT while literally looking down at Raptor.
"Are you okay Naomi? did you manage to take Raptor down already?" Moniqa wondered.
"No, but I'm worried the Sumeragi may take us down soon enough." Naomi worried.
"Is it an ambush!? I'll send Zeno and GV as backup!" Moniqa panicked.
"It's aight! It's just, Asimov ain't listenin' is he?" Naomi answered.
"Not at all, what did yo do?" Moniqa muttered.
"I, um, so, hehe. You promise not ta kill me if I tell ya?" Naomi hoped.
'No, what happened." Moniqa responded.
"I thought I could hack into the Sumeragi's website an-"
"You didn't! That means the Sumeragi can track the IP address of the server back to us!" Moniqa exclaimed as she began to type rapidly, which caught Asimov's attention.
"Is something wrong?" Asimov queried.
"Naomi researched the rupturing Septima on the Sumeragi's website with her login info. I'm worried they'll be able to track us and find a way to infiltrate the building." Moniqa explained.
"That could be a problem. Delete the search and make sure it's on both ends." Asimov ordered.
"We have to delete the search from both ends." Moniqa notified.
So, Naomi and Moniqa deleted the search. Unfortunately, Merak caught wind of it. He was stressing out during a battle with the Major Ursa bear android on Realms of Robocraft. Just as the bear slashed his avatar, a notification popped up on the right side of the screen. It read "unauthorized breach of website." It showed .com along with Naomi's username and password.
"That's odd, never seen anything like that before. Maybe Nova has, better send it before I get in trouble." Merak supposed as he emailed Nova a picture of the notification along with a short message.
"If I'm not mistaken that's Naomi's login info. This could prove very useful in getting her to recontinue working as part of the Muse Project. Not to mention allowing us to further her Primal Dragon experimentation. I'll have to forward this." Nova droned as he sent the message to his contacts. Not forgetting to thank Merak when he did so.
"Phew, crisis averted." Moniqa sighed happily.
"Sorry, I just got carried away with the research so much that I didn't care about the consequences. It's an inherited flaw I guess. Wait a second, what about the data we hacked from them? They had ta know where the hack originated from. An' I think they had backup data cause they had the info I was lookin' for. What are we gonna do when they update?" Naomi added.
"We'll have to do something about that. A lot of QUILL's data comes from them after all." Asimov stated.
"I can get Lola ta hack the data an' they won't know where the hack came from. An' they won't be able ta track it back to her. All we have ta do now is figure out how ta schedule hackin' them. I say once a month an' we randomize it. Even better, we compare the data we have against theirs and take any we don't have." Naomi suggested.
"Then it's settled, our next hack will be on the twenty eighth." Asimov announced.
Naomi thought about calling Jeremy but realized it wasn't necessary. Naomi returned home for lunch and told Copen of the plan.
"Are you sure it's a good idea to use Lola? They won't be able to trace the hack back to her sure. But her A/B drive may not be able to handle that much information." Copen rebuked.
"Come on, ya don't know an I don't know till we try. An we only need any new data they get so we can sift through it." Naomi stated.
Copen just took a bite of his Caesar salad and said nothing. Naomi's had mozzarella pearls with cherry tomatoes and Caesar vinagrette as extra.
"Ya know, this type a salad had nothin' ta do with the roman emperor right?" Naomi informed.
"Woah! Really!? Who made it then?" Mytyl gasped.
"It was invented by an Italian man by the name of Caesar Cardini who moved from California to Tiujana in Mexico to escape the effects of prohibition during the nineteen twenties. While running his restaurant there he made the salad." Naomi elucidated.
Mytyl looked with shock and fascination at the salad as she realized the amazing story behind the simple side dish before her.
"Uh, while you're lookin' at that salad your blueberries are lookin' a l'il, never mind that I'll deal with it." Naomi muttered as she grabbed Mytyl's blueberries and replaced them with some cherry tomatoes from her bowl.
"Huh? Where did my blueberries go? Did they grow legs and walk off?" Mytyl pondered.
"It's possible since they're living things that they've evolved so the seeds inside the blueberries can grow in the proper conditions. Or they germinated already and the seeds sprouted and the sprouts move to act like legs, thus allowing it to run." Naomi lied.
"Did I just eat a tadpole!?" Mytyl worried.
"She's lying Mytyl." Lola stated.
"See, this is what a tadpole looks like." Copen showed as he pointed to the tadpoles legs, eyes, tail and tiny webbed feet in a picture online.
"Yeah, but what if it was trying to hatch and only got its feet out!?" Mytyl panicked.
Copen showed Mytyl a video of a tadpole hatching. So Mytyl would finally come to know that tadpoles don't have legs upon hatching.
"So she really was lying. But that still doesn't explain what happened to my blueberries." Mytyl added.
"Only one of us has cherry tomatoes..." Copen informed as he and Mytyl eyed Naomi's bowl of blueberries which was more full that before.
Mytyl took back her blueberries and gave Naomi back her cherry tomatoes.
"So, do tadpoles creep you out too or is it just me?" Naomi wondered.
"What creeped me out was how you did that so quietly." Copen notified.
"Are you a ninja!?" Mytyl hoped.
"No, but part of my job does include sneaking up on people." Naomi assured with a grin on her face.
"Did Moniqa say anything about you logging into the Sumera-" but Naomi cut Copen off by grabbing his gun off Myty's bedside table, placed it next to her on Mytyl's bed, opened the window and proceeded to dangle the gun out the window.
Copen was glaring daggers at Naomi. Mytyl and Lola watched with curiosity and dread at the events unfolding before them. Similar to spectators during a gladiator fight in the Roman Colosseum. All noise was noexistent as there was a silent battle waging between the two siblings.
Finally deciding enough was enough, Copen went into his room to retrieve his old shield. Naomi dropped the act along with the gun and placed it on the bed. Copen returned with his shield, ready to attack Naomi with Blazing Ballista. Naomi threw the gun at Copen, aiming for his forehead and hoping for substantial brain damage.
However, Copen grabbed it with his left hand while still holding his shield. Destorying any hope Naomi had of merely having a sister.
"I'm going back to my room." Naomi huffed.
She decided to talk with Jeremy so she could check on the others.
"Hey, how's your day been?" Naomi greeted.
"Mine just started. Odd just finished eight slices of toast and three bananas." Jeremy replied.
"And here I thought Mytyl could inhale tapioca pudding like a vacuum." Naomi joked.
"I've heard about it, is it any good?" Jeremy queried.
"I ate some once and thought it was expired, but that's just me." Naomi answered.
"Yumi and Aelita still can't stop talking about the sleepovers. But they started talking about some weird event." Jeremy added.
"Huh? What was it?" Naomi wondered.
"Something about you went to an arcade and Aelita got some slime. Then you went and watched a movie." Jeremy explained.
"No, woulda been nice if I thought or heard 'bout that earlier." Naomi rambled.
"They're showing a sci-fi movie called Pacific Rim at the movies at five this afternoon." Jeremy remembered.
Naomi's eyes went wide with excitement.
"The original? I'm gonna be extremely ticked. So much so in fact that I'll make Viper at his meanest will look like his best day ever if you're lyin' ta me." Naomi threatened.
"Nope, that's today. It starts at five. Maybe we can all watch it." Jeremy confirmed.
"Sounds awesome. I'll see if Mytyl an Copen will come too. This is gonna be epic!" Naomi cheered as she waved at Jeremy while ending the call.
After she could contain her excitement, Naomi went to Mytyl's room where she found Copen and Lola aswell.
"I know what I'm 'bout ta say is gonna sound like an alien took my skin an' is currently wearin' it. But, I was thinkin' ya'll could meet my friends an' we could watch Pacific Rim." Naomi suggested.
"Pacific what?" Copen asked.
"You're so behind the times boss! Pacific Rim is one of the greatest sci-fi movies ever! It's about this guy that-" But Naomi put her hand over Lola's speaker.
Naomi shook her head and muttered 'Maybe I shoulda installed a mute button.' Naomi then decided to make a group call with the others over video.
"Einstein just gave me the best and craziest idea. Why don't we go see a movie? I'll bring Copen, Mytyl an' Lola too. We can all watch Pacific Rim. If Lola doesn't try ta spoil it again she can come." Naomi commented as she eyed Lola.
"So, according to Jeremy, the movie starts at five an ends at six. Since the theater has an arcade I thought we could kill time there before the movie starts." Naomi elucidated.
"That sounds great! We'll be there!" Yumi agreed.
"Mytyl, you already have youroutfit on so where are you? Oh, your shoes and purse. Hopefully this won't end up like the last time we went out." Naomi spoke.
"What happened last time you went out?" Copen wondered.
"Nothin! Nothin' at all. Nothin' ya need ta worry 'bout." Naomi assured.
"Copen eyed Naomi suspiciously. Naomi then teleported herself, Copen, Mytyl and Lola to the movie theater. They met up with the others at the arcade.
