Tohru and Akito walked to the main house. She stopped when she saw Kyo standing there. He turned and gasped, running toward her. He hugged her tightly. "Thank god you're safe." he whispered in her hair. Tohru smiled as she hugged him back. He looked behind Tohru at Akito and glared at the woman.

They separated. Kyo focused back on Tohru. His eyes rested on her torn shirt. She had dried and caked blood on her arm. His nostrils flared and he walked past Tohru. "You did this." he seethed. He grabbed Akito by the shirt and pinned her to the wall. "Kyo, stop!" begged Tohru.

"No, she did this. She hurt you AGAIN. And I am so tired of living in fear of this monster!" He seethed. Akito didn't fight back. She just stood there in silence. "Please, Kyo. Let her go." pleaded Tohru. "She's a friend." she said. Kyo's head whipped around and looked at her. "What the hell did you just say!? After all of the disgusting shit that she's done!? You're going to call her a FRIEND!?" he screamed.

"Kyo, let her go." They turned to Kureno standing there. "And what the hell are you going to do if I don't!?" Tohru gently put her hand on Kyo's shoulder. He snapped his head over to her. "Please, let her go." Kyo seethed as he stood there. He turned and looked at Akito. He let her go and Akito dropped to the ground.

Kyo turned and looked at Tohru. He took her hand and they walked away in silence. Kyo stopped at the front door. He looked at Akito with hatred and anger. "I never want to see you again, Akito. You are nothing but a monster. You are cruel. You are ugly. You are resentful. Just a pure monster."

They all stood there in silence. "You may have convinced Tohru to forgive you and accept you. But you won't get the same thing from me. You will always remain the monster that almost killed the girl I loved. I hate you, Akito." he said. He walked silently out the door. Tohru turned and looked at Kureno and Akito.

She looked at the ground and followed close behind Kyo. She caught up to him and she took his hand. He took his hand from hers and put his arm around her and pulled her closer. Tohru leaned more in his side and she walked with him in silence.

"How injured are you?" he asked, as they walked. Tohru looked up at him. "It's just a scratch. I'm okay." she said. They stopped. Kyo turned and hugged her so fast that it knocked the air a bit out of her. He buried his face in the side of her neck and tangled his fingers in her hair.

"Never do that again. Never put yourself in danger like that. I can't bear to lose you too. I won't do it Tohru.'' They separated and Tohru looked up at Kyo. She nodded. "I promise. No more." She caressed his cheek.

"But we are free, Kyo. We are free to love who we want. We are free to be together. We are free to love each other." Kyo leaned into her hand. He kissed her palm. He leaned in and kissed the top of her head. They separated.

"Not yet." Tohru looked at him. "There is one more thing that I need to do before I can finally be free of the Soma name." Tohru nodded. She took his hand. "Whatever you need." Kyo smiled and kissed her head again.

"I want you to come with me." Tohru nodded. "I will go if you want me to. Whatever you need." Kyo smiled and nodded. He sighed heavily and he took her hand. "Where are we going?" asked Tohru.

Kyo took a deep breath and looked at her. "To go talk to my father." Tohru's eyes widened. Kyo looked back at her. "And it won't be an easy visit. It will be very hard to go. But I want to be able to move on and have a future with you."

Tohru's heart swelled. "Are you sure you want me there? I won't make it worse?" Kyo smiled and shook his head. "Selfishly, it will make it better and easier for me." Tohru smiled. She took his hand. "Then let's go." She said with a loving smile. Kyo nodded.

They continued to walk and they stopped at a big house. He walked to the front door and knocked. The maid answered. "Master Kyo. What are you doing here?" Kyo sighed. "I'm here to see my father." She nodded and opened the door wider and allowed them in. The maid looked at Tohru.

"Would you like me to keep her here?" Kyo shook his head. "She comes with me." She nodded. She walked in front of them and led them to a room. They stopped. She poked her head in the doorway. "Sir, there is someone to see you."

A black-haired skinny man was sitting in a chair in the room. Tohru could smell the stench of booze laying in the room. He shot up. "Who said that you could let him in here!?" he screamed. Tohru flinched slightly at the harshness of his tone. She decided to stay in the doorway as Kyo walked in.

The man focused on Kyo. "What the hell are you doing here? What do you want? You dare to set foot into this house without so much as a hint of guilt on your face!?" he screamed. Kyo looked beyond his father.

"Drinking? Isn't it a little early in the day to be doing that? I mean how can you work if you're-"
"Shut up! What do you know!? I work plenty! Plenty! It's just that right now I'm on vacation because I haven't been feeling well and who's fault is that?"

Kyo looked at his father. "I'm sure according to you it's my fault?" His father scoffed. "You're damn right it is! Just like her death, that was your fault too! Admit you killed her! You won't get away with this just because you didn't physically hurt her!" He screamed. Tohru covered her mouth with her hand. She couldn't believe how horrible and cruel his father was being to him. She was so grateful for Kazuma.

"You're guilty! You made her feel nothing but misery and shame! You don't understand what your mother meant to me! If it weren't for you she'd-" Kyo's shoulders dropped. "You're right." Torhu gasped quietly.

Kyo looked up at his father. "You're right. It's my fault." His father started to hysterically laugh. "He admitted it! He finally admitted it! He admitted he killed his mother!" He looked at the maid. "You heard right!? He laughed.

She nodded. "Call the main family. Tell them to come get him immediately. You'll be locked up for the rest of your life! And it is nothing short of what you deserve!"

Kyo stayed quiet. His father continued to cackle and laugh. "I refuse." His father stopped laughing. He looked at Kyo angrily. "I won't go in there, not ever. I'll live my life on the outside. I'll choose. That's why I've come here. To make that clear to you. There's someone I want to be with. Someone good."

He turned and he held out and Tohru took his hand. "This is Tohru Honda, my girlfriend." His father looked from Tohru and glared at Kyo. He scoffed. "How could someone love a monster that killed his own mother." His eyes rested on Tohru's ripped sleeve and bloodied arm.

He scoffed. "That happens when you love a monster. I'm guessing that this monster did that to you? Be careful he might kill you too." Tohru glared at his father. "Kyo didn't do this. And he is NOT a monster. He's the most compassionate and protective person that I have ever known. He isn't this horrible person that you make him out to be."

"And I don't believe that he killed his mother. I'm sure his mother loved him very much. And as tragic as her death must have been, it wasn't his fault. I'm sure of it." his father cackled. "What does a stupid outsider know about my pathetic excuse for a son."

Kyo gritted his teeth. "Don't talk to her like that." He scoffed. "Does she even know how disgusting you really are? Has she seen your true cat form?" Tohru glared at his father. "Yes, I have. Seeing his true cat form helped me realize that I was already in love with him." Kyo looked at her with surprise. She smiled when she looked at him.

Kyo's father glared at the couple. "I don't understand." They turned to look at his father. "You're unforgivable. Everyone knows that. Somebody like you living a normal life? I won't let you. Monster! Filth! Accept your fate and spend the rest of your life in a cage like an animal!" he screamed, throwing a glass. Tohru flinched into his arm, hearing the glass shattering against the wall.

"Atone for your crime! Do you understand the shame I've been forced to suffer? What a complete and utter wreck my life has become. It never would have happened if not for you! If not for her giving birth to a freak!" Fear coursed through him and filled his eyes.

Tohru glared at his father. "Kyo is not a freak! He's a member of the zodiac! His being the cat doesn't make him any less of a person. Whether he's the cat or any other member of the zodiac! They are still people! And Kyo being born wasn't shameful. Kyo is an amazing guy and you should be proud to call someone as amazing as Kyo to be your son."

Kyo stood there in fear. His father's voice echoed in his head. 'You're the one that bore this disgusting child!'

"He's a monster! I'll never forgive you! Dammit, never!" His father screamed. 'Get out of my sight failures!' He walked closer to Kyo and got in his face. Torhu went to push him away from Kyo but Kyo grabbed her hand, holding her in place.

"Do you two enjoy disgracing me, is that it!? I never want to see you again. EITHER of you!" Kyo continued to stand there with fear in his eyes. His father's words echoed in his head. "Those words, you said them before." Tohru and his father both looked at him.

"To mom." His father grabs him by the shirt. Kyo quickly pushed Tohru behind him, his hand on her torso. "Are you trying to pin your crime on me!? It ain't my fault! It ain't my fault!" Little Kyo flashed through Kyo's mind. 'It's not my fault!' he cried.

"YOU drove her to depression! You! You're the reason she's dead; it wasn't me! I didn't do anything wrong! I didn't ask for a creature like you!" Flashes of the day his mom died went through his mind.

'Were you lonely? Was it hard to bear it all on your own like that? I was too young to understand what you felt. I won't claim I would have realized it as I got older. Maybe I will. Maybe not. And we will never know because….you died. I wanted you to live so badly. I wish you hadn't died. I wish you wouldn't have thrown yourself away when you were alive mom.'

Kyo put his hand on his father's chest. He pushes him away gently. "I won't throw myself away. No. I'll try. While I'm still alive." He turned and took Tohru's hand. "I'll try to really live." he said, looking at Tohru. Tohru smiled lovingly and she reached up and kissed him.

His father clenched his fist. "I won't allow this!" His father grabbed Kyo by the shirt. "Kyo!" yelled Tohru. "Let go." he said, grabbing his father's arm. "Ah! He's going to kill me! Someone help! He's going to kill me!"

"Enough." came an icy voice. They all turned and there stood Akito. Kyo's father looked at Akito. "Here, you can take him. Lock him up like the monster he is!" He yells hysterically. Akito rolled her eyes. "I want you to be the first one to know Kyo."

Kyo turned and looked at Akito. "The cottage that has housed them for the last few years is going to be destroyed." They all looked at her with shock. "It's time for a new chapter. And this chapter does not lock up anyone." Akito turns to look at Kyo. "You are free, Kyo."

Kyo's eyes widened. Akito turned to leave. "Akito." said Kyo. Akito turned to look at him. "Don't think that I forgive you for the things you did." Akitio nodded. "Understood." Akito left. Kyo looked back at his father.

"No. You were supposed to be locked up for the rest of your life. That was supposed to be your punishment." he said in shock. Kyo walked closer to his father. "I won't come back." His father looked at him in shock.

"I just came here to get closure. I'm not going to be haunted by you anymore. I'm going to move on and live the life that I deserve. I have someone I love and who loves me." he said, looking lovingly at Tohru. Tohru smiled.

"Come on Tohru, let's go." Tohru nodded. She stopped and looked at his father. "I'm very grateful that Kyo has a REAL dad that loves him. And he is no longer haunted by you." They turned to leave.

"I will never accept that you are free Kyo! I will get you locked up if it's the last thing I do!" He screamed at Kyo and Torhu left the house. They walked to the street. Tohru stopped and looked at Kyo. "Are you okay?"

Kyo kissed her sweetly. "I'm free, Tohru." They kissed again.
