"Hello?" Naomi spoke as she clicked answer and started drinking her glass of blueberry juice.
"Nori told me you left without eating, is that true?" Dr. Kamizono interrogated.
"Yeah, but I took my dinner with me so I could eat with my friends." Naomi responded.
"I called to inform you of another recent issue. Sometime this month there was a clanking sound coming from the vents above me. And there was no scheduled maintenance. I was curious to see if you know of the incident." Dr. Kamizono stated.
"Well, maybe Mr. Yamato might know something. I mean, since he's with you so much at work." Naomi stuttered nervously.
"Aren't you going to admit that you were the one in the ven-" But Naomi cut Odd off before he could get her into -anymore- trouble.
"What I was trying to say before someone rudely interrupted me was that I was, wait, wait, wait wait. You're worried about where I WAS? Why are you working at S-FIT with Mr. Yamato again?" Naomi seethed.
"They believe I created the explosion and used it as a means to escape my lifetime contract. They don't want to sue since I'm working for them again and they believe the matter is purely unintentional since the test subjects limiter was removed." Dr. Kamizono elaborated.
"I'll finish eating and come straight home." Naomi confirmed before ending the call.
"You didn't get found out about the Glaive did you?" Yumi wondered.
"That's not what he called about. But now I'm worried I'll wind up bein' asked 'bout it." Naomi answered.
"Thanks for coming to hang out with us. Good luck with the talk." Aelita thanked.
"Ay, ay, ay! I ain't goin' just yet! I still gotta eat. Though it feels like I'm eatin' my last meal on death row right about now." Naomi rebuked.
Naomi ate her dinner within five minutes and teleported back home. She handed the tray to Nori and tried stealthily walking to her room. She began walking with her back against the wall on the second floor to get to her room. But right as she was directly to the right of her bedroom door, Naomi knew she was spotted. She turned invisible and mentally chanted, hoping she was overreacting.
"I know you're there Naomi, I saw you turn invisible." Dr. Kamizono stated.
Naomi puffed her cheeks with a mad expression, glared at her father, turned her head and closed her eyes while tilting her head up, letting out a 'humph' as well. Knowing she was spotted and didn't have a choice, Naomi went downstairs, stopped walking, put her left hand in her back left pants pocket, pulled out an orange orb, tossed it onto the round, and used the smokescreen it provided as a distraction and teleported. Naomi teleported in front of Jeremy's dorm door. So, she turned around, opend the door, ran in, slammed it shut, put her back and spread her arms to guard the door.
"Ya gotta hide me!" Naomi pleaded.
"Did the Sumeragi find you?" Ulrich guessed.
"It's hard ta tell if that'd be a worse reason ta flee than the reason I got righ' now." Naomi panted.
"Well why did you run then"?" Yumi asked.
"I'm worried the reason for that call wasn't told so I'd go home, only ta find out I was in trouble for returning my sword from bein' a Glaive." Naomi explained.
"How much trouble would you be in?" Aelita queried.
"Then I REALLY would be grounded in the house for a week, with no way outta it either." Naomi sighed.
"What was the call for anyways?" Odd asked.
"He said it was for ta see if I was the reason him and Mr. Yamato heard creaking in the vents." Naomi added.
"Were you?" Jeremy interrogated.
"Bullseye." Naomi confirmed.
"You're worried it was a coverup reason for you to go home. And that you'd find out you were in trouble for the Glaive when you got home." Aelita noticed.
Naomi nodded solemnly. The others began talking with Naomi about playing chess. Jeremy was jealous he didn't get the chance to play against her.
"I'm really good in battle, anyone got some cards?" Naomi stated.
"How does cards have anything to do with fighting?" Ulrich wondered.
"One, it's a game with playin' cards. An two, don't play it while you're on a mission. I once played a round a go fish on a roof with Zeno while waitin' for Asimov ta give the green light so I could bust in a research lab. The spade in the middle a my ace card got shot so a hole was in its place. I could hardly hear him when he said it was go time since Zeno an I were laughin' so hard 'bout how I said I had an ace up my sleeve." Naomi cackled.
"Kiwi, give, me, those, cards!" Odd huffed as he played tug of war with Kiwi to get the box of cards out of the dogs mouth. Odd won, but Kiwi punctured the box with his teeth and the cards scattered on the floor.
"Quinn was the one who taught me. She said she played a round that lasted three days with GV." Naomi stated as she began helping Odd pick up the cards.
"What's the weirdest time you had a mission go sideways?" Odd questioned as he dealt 26 cards for himself and another 26 for Naomi.
"One time Zeno got beat up real bad on a late night call so GV an I had ta replace him. Our enemy turned the whole of Sinner's Row upside down! I feel like I shouldn'ta been listenin' ta upside down by the DNC then." Naomi remembered.
"How did the Muse Septima get split? Into four different people I mean." Aelita asked.
"The Muse Septima was originally mine. But when Mytyl was less than a year old my Septima was implanted into her to help with an operation she had on her brain. But, the Septima caused her to lose her voice and the use of her legs. Her body didn't know how to take the Septima.
So, her immune system attacked the part of her brain dealing with bodily functions. That's where the Septima was stored. Only part of it was put in Joule, a itty bitty entsy teensy tinsy part of it. That was only a fraction of my power.
The A/B drive Lola has, was something my dad grabbed from the tech department at work. Since not much of my Septima was needed, the rest of it went in there. Somehow he found it was compatible. However, I built Lola with the drive, not even knowing.
So, I recently heard of a Septima that can mimic other Septimas. Anyways, I absorbed Joule's fraction. Lumen still exists because there's a mirror shard pendant with a blue butterfly. One of the mirror shards from one of Zonda's attacks.
It allows Joule's subconscious to gain a form similar to that of Zonda's mirror clones. Copen's got a weird Doppler Desire attack and the clones are the same in structure. It also allows Joule to mirror the Septima she had before Xiao did that. Zonda's from China so they have a lot of info on them.
I store my Muse Septima in my body and the Septima is still able to work with the A/B Drive. But since it's in my body I can use my Psychokinesis to manipulate the drive to run off my Muse Septima. If I tried to explain the logistics of it we'd be here a while so that's long story short." Naomi elaborated.
"I'm glad I'm not taking a class on Septimas or else I'd fail for sure." Odd joked.
"I think a lot of people would." Naomi laughed.
"Hey Naomi." Yumi called.
"Hm?" Naomi spoke.
"Did your dad have to study Septimas ahead of time, get a degree or a special form of education to become a Sumeragi scientist?" Yumi queried.
"I can't tell ya ta be honest." Naomi answered.
"I don't think you can stay in the factory, Xana would probably agree." Jeremy doubted.
"I wouldn't mind, it'd be nice to have some company." Xana assured.
"I'll bring my sleeping bag." Yumi offered.
"I can't thank ya'll enough." Naomi smiled.
The others went home, Yumi returned with the sleeping bag and left again.
