Naomi woke up at 9:30 at night at her house due to the 7 hour timezone difference. Attempting to go to bed without getting spotted seemed easy to Naomi at first. Until she heard the flick of a light switch behind her.
"Frick." Naomi whispered while wincing at the fact that she'd been found.
"We need to talk." Dr. Kamizono demanded.
"I love you too dad, goodnight." Naomi spoke rather fast before trying to make a run for the upper floor stairs.
She was certain that smart aleck remark was only going to get her in more trouble. Though Naomi felt that what would be discussed was certain to get her in even more trouble.
All that hard work, for nothing, he'd never forgive me. Naomi mentally pouted, still frozen in place and on the verge of tears.
"Is that why you're trying to go to bed right now?" Dr. Kamizono guessed.
Naomi turned around and kept her head down.
"I won't bother you anymore. I can leave permanently if that'd suit your interests." Naomi suggested.
"What makes you think that you leaving would make things any easier or better? Nori told me earlier you used to have an apartment next door to one of your coworkers." Dr. Kamizono spoke.
"I'll go back to staying there if that's what you want. I'll just have to either cloak my location or pray Nova and Jota don't find me again." Naomi supposed.
"Naomi, no matter where you go, how much you run or fight, the Sumeragi will always find you. All you can do is fight the evil in this world. Not physically but mentally, thinking good and doing good." Dr. Kamizono explained.
"Did killing those Adepts do you any good? Or was it all just a reckless shooting conviction?" Naomi interrogated.
Dr. Kamizono was a little surprised by the question.
"There are some times when you can only do what you feel is right." Dr. Kamizono debated.
"Do you follow what you believe or trust someone who knows what's right?" Naomi questioned.
"It depends on the situation. For example, if you're up against an Adept you don't know about and someone says they know about the Adept so they share some information with you. Then you use the information." Dr. Kamizono replied.
"What if they're clinically insane? Or the information is for another topic? And what happened to talking what someone says with a grain of salt?" Naomi supposed.
Again, quiet.
"I rest my case, and myself. I'm going to bed. If you so desire, I am willing to further continue the discussion tomorrow." Naomi added as she walked upstairs and slammed the door.
Maybe I could stay with my aunt. Naomi thought.
But, Naomi knew her aunt well enough to know that as soon as she knew her niece was a runaway, she'd deport Naomi on a swift, one-way trip back home. The only exception she'd make is if Naomi's mom (her sister) told her ahead of time and both agreed it was alright. It was eleven twenty seven when the conversation ended. Though in Naomi's mind it was more of an interrogation rather than a discussion. It was eleven forty five when Naomi looked at the clock so she grabbed Lola out of her charger and had Lola in the crook of her left arm as she slept. Naomi's alarm startled her awake. She blew a strand of hair from in front of her left eye.
"I'm certain today's not Christmas cause I sure as HECK ain't feelin' merry or jolly." Naomi grumbled.
Naomi took a look at her watch and noticed it read eight thirty seven in the morning.
"I'm gonna call Zeno an see if I've still gotta stay home." Naomi supposed as she dialed Zeno on her watch.
"Ay man, why are ya not here? Didn't ya see the time?" Zeno wondered.
"The boss said after that last mission that I'd need a week at home ta cool off. So was just wonderin' if I could go ta work or somethin'." Naomi explained.
Naomi heard a voice in the background.
"Sorry man, no dice." Zeno apologized.
"It's aight, but just let him know that if I go back ta work worse than I left, he'll know who's fault it was." Naomi sighed.
Zeno laughed.
"Nice talkin' to ya man. I'll see ya when you get back." Zeno smiled as he ended the call.
Naomi noticed her tray of pancakes and glass of milk on her desk so she ate. then, Naomi remembered she said she was WILLING to continue the discussion last night. She only said that to end the conversation quicker. Deep in regret realizing what she did, Naomi covered her head with her blanket and believed no amount of showering in the world could wash off the bad vibes she was getting. As Naomi was looking in her closet for something to wear, a shirt in the very back of her closet on the far right caught her eye. It was a black long sleeve shirt made of the type of thin fabric commonly used as see through material for costumes.
What the heck? This is the shirt I had when I was working for the Sumeragi. I wonder what this is doing here. Naomi pondered.
Naomi shrugged her shoulders as she grabbed the shirt, some black pants and her black boots. She put on a black choker and black rose earrings for the finishing touch. Going downstairs made her want to swap out her bed for a casket. Copen was surprised to see Naomi home, especially at that time of day.
"Is there a reason behind why you aren't at work? Are you sick?" Copen wondered.
Naomi shook her head.
"That last mission did me in. So now I've got no choice but to spend a week at home, try to go on a mission and get myself either suspended or fired." Naomi elucidated.
"What happened that made Asimov decide you needed a vacation?" Copen asked.
"Elise. The one Lola informed me told you said she'd hurt someone you cared about most. I was tossed in the Stratacombs since the higher ups decided on a remedial for me after I transformed for the first time. I met her while I was there. I got along with all three of her personalities. Her second one got me out of some messy moments. Having to eliminate her, it was just too much for me. And as if that wasn't enough, I got kicked off the job for being emotional. Maybe next time I'll send you. Because my problems at home are far worse than anything out on the field could ever be." Naomi droned.
"I think you forgot something. Dad said you had to finish that talk today." Copen reminded.
"I can't, I promised Mytyl I'd give her some help taking pictures of animals in the park today." Naomi fibbed.
"Mytyl didn't tell me anything of the sort." Copen stated.
"Well she told me." Naomi lied.
"I haven't even seen you step outside of your room today other than just now." Copen remarked.
"While you were downstairs in the basement I talked to her." Naomi huffed.
"I'm going talk to Mytyl and see." Copen announced before leaving to see if Naomi was in fact telling the truth (or lying like she was). Knowing she'd be in trouble when her brother got back, Naomi walked to the doors that led outside. Not running or speed walking so nobody would begin to think anything was wrong. But, as soon as she went to open one of the doors, Naomi heard talking behind her.
"She said you didn't tell her anything of the sort." Copen informed.
"Oh yeah! That's because I left the note for me to remind myself to tell her in my room." Naomi giggled nerbously. Naomi and Copen walked to Naomi's room as she worried about getting caught up in the lie. Copen stopped Naomi who's back was to the right of the hall.
"Why were you at the door without Mytyl just now if you were going to take her to the park to take pictures?" Copen noticed.
"I texted her tablet and left her a message to meet me in the park. I forgot about it because I've been in such a rush this morning." naomi responded.
"I get it now, this has nothing to do with Mytyl. You're just trying to avoid the conversation." Copen realized.
Naomi flinched.
"Looks like I hit a nerve." Copen noted.
Naomi heard a cough behind her.
"Um, you want a cough drop? Throat lozenge? Whatever you call it." Naomi offered.
"That wasn't me." Copen stated.
