"We're half an hour into the trip. Are you okay Naomi? Is something on your mind? You've been looking troubled since we entered." Nova commented.
"Do you think they'll take me back? After all I've done?" Naomi worried as she turned to look at Nova from the view at the start of her second question.
"As long as you have no further intentions of disrupting the company." Nova assured.
Naomi nodded, looked back down and sighed.
'Then I'm really a wolf in sheeps clothing. Well, more like a team sheeps member in a wolf black shirt I wore while working for the Sumeragi. And, on top of that, I'm a Primal Dragon with an Adept appearance.' Naomi supposed.
"You'll be sent back to S-FIT on occasion to obtain new Septimas. You can go home if you like, but you'll have to be chipped. That way the Sumeragi can track you at all times." Nova stated.
"Great, not even a full twenty four hours back and I'm already being treated like a caged animal." Naomi rambled to herself.
Back with Gunvolt, he couldn't process what happened. Joule was frozen in shock and Lumen had a hurt expression on her face.
"Naomi, she did this, for us?" Lumen wondered.
"She didn't want you and Joule to suffer. That and she knows I'd try to rescue you again. What she doesn't know though is that Zeno or I is going to help her escape when the mission is over. Gunvolt informed.
"We wanna help too! right Lumen?" Joule added.
"She's helped us so much, it's the least we can do." Lumen areed.
"Oh yeah, that reminds me, Copen stormed into the office recently and interrogated Zeno about where Naomi was." Gunvolt remembered.
"I wonder why he and Naomi don't really see eye to eye." Lumen pondered.
"It's like how you and I have different opinions about dorayaki." Gunvolt explained.
"I was curious if you wanted to have some mizo soup and umeboshi for lunch one day." Joule offered.
"That'll be really quick to make. It wouldn't be a problem." Gunvolt confirmed.
Joule huffed because she meant that she wanted to take a turn in the kitchen for a change. At the sanatorium, Mytyl began to worry about her sister while Copen and Lola were in the basement formulatig a plan to sprin Naomi from the Sumeragi's clutches.
"GV, what was it like when you went to Firmament?" Joule asked.
"Um, well, it's kinda hard to explain. I don't really remember what the scenery was like. I was too focused on saving you to memorize any of the little details." Gunvolt answered.
'GV, if I could only repay you for all the kindness you showed me.' Joule smiled.
"What do you think became of Asimov?" Lumen questioned.
"He's probably back at HQ with Moniqa and Zeno trying to check on Naomi right now." Gunvolt supposed.
But, back at QUILL headquarters, everyone was working doubletime to find Naomi.
"It's getting late, we'll work on finding Naomi tomorrow." Asimov notified.
"B-but we can't just give up looking now! Not when we're so close!" Moniqa portested.
"Being tired will decrease your efficiency." Asimov denied.
"We gotta find her boss! The sooner we find Naomi, the sooner we can all get some rest! Including her!" Zeno refused.
"We all got the text from her saying she was at Firmament. All we have to do is get her." Moniqa reminded.
"I'll do it, you two need to get some sleep." Asimov stated.
"Like heck we are!" Zeno protested.
"If you're doing this, the least we can do is assist you." Moniqa spoke.
Asimov nodded.
"We'll get some sleep first, knowing Naomi she'll be able to hold her own." Asimov added.
So, they all returned home.
"GV, will Naomi come back okay?" Joule worried.
"I can track her through her Muse Septima and check on her if you'd like." Lumen suggested.
"Just don't get caught." Gunvolt warned.
Lumen teleported to the orbital elevator instead. Naomi saw something appear out of the corner of her eye. She was surprised to see Lumen.
"What a relief! We were so worried something worse happened to you already! Are you alright!?" Lumen cheered.
Naomi knew that luckily, Nova couldn't see Lumen. But the problem was that Naomi didn't know how to signal to Lumen that she was alright without Nova knowing Lumen was present. She thought of doing a thumbs up, but Nova would definitely think Naomi lost her mind. Telling Lumen she was doing okay would most likely bring about the same result.
That's when it hit her.
'Smile, all I have to do is smile! Not only will it show Lumen that I'm alright, but it'll make Nova think I'm enjoying my return to the Sumeragi!' Naomi theorized.
So, she smiled.
"I'm supposed to tell you that GV and the others are going to try and free you tomorrow. I don't know what time exactly. But you have to hold out until then." Lumen announced.
Naomi kept smiling, even though she was worried their attempt to free her would only make things worse. Lumen returned to report her findings to Gunvolt and Joule.
"Naomi's okay for now. She's still in the orbital elevator with Nova waiting to reach Firmament." Lumen informed.
"Do you think we could halt the elevator?" Gunvolt pondered.
"It's impossible. Nova would definitely be informed. Something could happen to Naomi since they'd know something would be up. the possibilities of something going wrong are endless." Lumen notified.
"We'd better get some sleep, we'll be able to put up a better resistance against Sumeragi's forces if so." Gunvolt advised.
"Can I just activate the tracker on my watch, teleport home, sleep, do everything I need to do and meet you back here?" Naomi asked.
"I suppose it would be alright, as long as you return." Nova agreed.
Naomi teleported home, took a shower, changed into her pajamas and went to bed.
