I swear I'm not dead. I've just had so much stuff happen and have been so busy that I haven't really been able to write.
I don't know if I am gonna be able to speed back up since I am taking some harder classes this semester but I promise I will keep updating this story.
That's all for now, enjoy.
God I hate paws.
I've tried to grab stuff with them but they just don't have enough dexterity. I've been trying to use my physic abilities to do stuff but I still don't have a good enough grasp on it yet.
I can do basic stuff like open doors and brush my teeth but I still have issues doing more "complex" stuff.
Right now I'm trying to take a shower. I managed to get the water running but I'm having issues getting the soap to spread. I sigh as I'm probably going to have to get Owen to help me again.
"Hey Owen!" I yell across the house. I would get up and go get him myself but I'm dripping wet and don't want to get the floor wet. "Can you come help me with this!"
There's no response from him but I can hear him watching something on his phone in the living room.
"HEY OWEN GET OVER HERE!" I yell louder than I did the first time.
"What, you need something?" I hear Owen say.
"Get in here!" I yell not really care to give context of what I want him to do since he won't understand me anyways
"Give me a second, I'm coming," He says from the other side of the house. My ears instinctually turn towards the living room as Owen gets up from the couch and starts walking towards the bathroom. 'It's so weird being able to hear that far. It's like the walls are made of paper.'
Owen makes his way to the bathroom before getting to the bathroom. He opens the door and asks "Do you need something?"
"Yea, can you help me bathe?" I say from the shower.
Of course he can't understand me but he is able to put the context clues of me being soaked and miscellaneous spots of soap being on my body together, "oh, do you need help showering?"
I nod towards him and he proceeds to move by the shower, turn on the water, and grab the shampoo. He puts some of the soap on his hands and starts to rub it in on me.
'This is so demeaning. I feel like I'm 5 again. Can't even clean myself without someone's help.
Although this does feel weirdly relaxing. Oh yea that feels really relaxing. Oh right by my ear that feels goood. Yeaaa… Why'd it stop?'
I look up towards Owen and see that he has an amused look on his face. "Ah you little shit, you were petting me." Owen just starts laughing uncontrollably.
"I did not know my fur could be this fluffy." I said to myself as I lay on the couch.
After Owen dried me off with a towel my fur fluffed up. It's not like I'm bothered by it or anything, I'm just extra floofy.
I hover my phone over to me, very wobbly, before setting it down in front of me. I open up my text messages and scroll down to mom's. I'm going to try to convince mom to let me hang out with my friends. I'm hoping it'll be easier over text since she'll actually understand over text unlike just speaking.
Josh: Hey, cna you please let me hang out with my friends. We were just gonna go out in to the woods where we used to hang out a few years ago. We would be away from everyone and wouldn't be in any danger
So we used to hang out in the woods together when we were around ages 10-14. Well more accurately we used to hang out in a huge clearing that was in the woods. We used to spend hours on end just doing whatever in that clearing. That was until they started finding bodies in the woods.
Apparently there was some serial killer that was hiding bodies in those woods. They ended up catching the dude but all of our parents got spooked and didn't let us go in those woods anymore, even after they caught the dude.
It's a few minutes before my mom checks her phone and sees the message on her phone.
Mom: My answer is still no
Mom: I don't want you to get hurt.
Josh: common there is almost no one in those woods
Mom: no I don't want you to get hurt especially now
Mom: hospitals aren't accepting many pokemon right now
Josh: that seems discriminatory
Mom: well it because pokemon can take a lot more punishment than humans can
Josh: thats all the more reason to let me go
Josh: common I'm gonna be 18 in a few months
Josh: please
Mom: even so it's still gonna be dangerous getting to the woods
Josh: well the news said the most of the chaos has died down
Josh: most it was from people freaking out and accidentally blowing a hole in the wall
Mom doesn't respond for a minute or two
Mom: you promise that your gonna only be in that clearing
Josh: well apart from passing through a few neighborhoods and walking through the woods to get there yes
Mom: …
Mom: you can go
Mom: just be safe
Josh: thank you mom
Mom: your welcome
Josh: Love you too the moon and back
Mom: Love you too the moon and back too
'Ok, I managed to convince mom. I was kinda surprised she let me go though. Well a win is a win'
'Uhh well we still need Shade to convince his parents before we go. I'm gonna text them to see if he has had any progress with that'
Josh: Hey guys I managed to convince my mom
Josh: how are you doing with that yourself Shde
Josh: *Shade
Shade: well, I ended up causing my parents to argue but it came out to a yes
Josh: oh, well sorry about that
Shade: Dw, they have both been tense since this whole thing started
Josh: yea, I can imagine that
Shade: anyways what time do you want to meet up
Josh: probably sometime after lunch
Josh: does 2 work
Shade: that works for me
(Daniel would later send a thumbs up emoji to confirm he can come)
So, berries taste unbelievably good now. I was getting stuff out for lunch, well my brother was getting stuff out for me, and I decided to eat some strawberries. I swear when I bit into it it was like they were grown in heaven or something. Ok maybe that is an overreaction but it still tasted really good.
When I finished eating I ended up searching up if anyone else has had the same berry experience as me. It turns out that yes, pretty much every pokemon has had this experience. I ended up going down a rabbit hole of articles that explained how berries taste better for pokemon and how some of them might have the same effects as the ones in the games.
This rabbit hole ended when I realized that I needed to leave to meet up with Daniel and Shade.
I go over to Owen and tell him that I'm leaving. He gives me a thumbs up and I head out the door.
I look over to the house across the street to look at the damages from the other day. Most of the house is a char black or a smoky color from the fire. The left side of the house has the most damage with the entire living room collapsed. The damages then move like a gradient with the right side being the least damaged having its walls entirely intact and not entirely scorched.
I feel bad for the person that turned into a charmeleon and am glad that wasn't me.
I turn away from the burnt building and start walking down the street.
As I'm walking through the neighborhoods I notice all the damage that has yet to be cleaned up. Most of the houses look completely fine but a few of them have noticeable damage like a hole in the wall or a broken window. A few of them have tarps draped over parts of their roofs or walls covering up what I assume are holes.
Every once in a while I can see tire marks in the road. There drivers probably lost control when they started changing. Luckily they were driving through neighborhoods so they weren't going too fast. There is one car though that is sitting in someone's yard.
'Hm, well I guess the tow truck companies are still busy. There were probably a lot of people that changed while they were driving.'
As I'm walking I notice that there isn't a lot of people outside right now, both just on the sidewalks and in their cars. 'I guess most people are still in shock about what is going on.' I thought to myself.
I kept walking down the road, taking a turn here and there before I eventually hit the forest.
There is a small dirt path that heads down into the forest. I head down the path for a few hundred feet as it slowly decreases in width before eventually whittling out.
I keep heading into the forest anyways, not afraid of getting lost. I've gone this way so many times that I don't think I could get lost if I wanted to.
When we first started hanging out in the clearing I would follow a path of "landmarks" to get there. A weirdly shaped tree here, a big rock there, but most of them I either can't find or don't recognize due to the passage of time. Out of the ones I do recognize the huge dead oak tree has got to be the most recognizable. I'm honestly surprised that it is still here since it has been dead for at least 7 years.
As I'm passing by it I take a second to admire the fact that it is still here before continuing on.
The forest also seems to be a lot noisier than it used to be. I can hear a lot further and just more in general than I used to. I can hear a rabbit running through the brush on my right and there's a few birds chirping somewhere off to my right. Now I can't see any of these animals but I can definitely hear them.
As I've been walking I've been occasionally picking up a pebble with my telekinesis and throwing it at a tree. I'm missing most of my shots but the more I do it I seem to get more accurate the more I practice.
I keep walking for a little while before eventually reaching the edge of the clearing.
There is a small decline for about a few hundred feet before it flattens out. The clearing itself is about 20 acres.
I can see both Shade and Daniel about 100 or so yards away from the edge of the forest. As I start walking down the hill towards them Shade notices me and turns his head towards me.
"Oh, hey Josh!" Shade yells towards my direction as Daniel is also turning his head towards me.
I yell back as I'm walking down the hill, "Hey guys, it's been a while!"
Daniel's face turns to one of confusion before he yells back "What do you mean it's been a while! It's only been a week!"
Both Daniel and Shade start walking towards me in order to close the distance quicker
I roll my eyes and yell back "I meant it has been a while since we have been to this place!"
I can see realization spread across Daniel's face before he replies "Oh, my bad."
"Well even though it's only been a week it feels like it has been so long due to all the stuff that has happened these last few days." Shade says as we all stop in front of each other.
"Yea," I respond, "it's just been so chaotic, especially that first day."
"Yea, having 30 percent of the world's population turn into pokemon will tend to have that effect." Daniel jokes.
"This just all feals so surreal" shade says, "I mean we are now pokemon. I would have never even had the thought that someone like this could or would happen."
"Well at least it's not something like a zombie apocalypse or something" I jokingly respond
"Ha, I would've expected to have a zombie apocalypse before this." Daniel responds
"I wonder how Nintendo is doing right now, I mean they have got to be getting a lot of flack for this?" Shade says
"Well I saw that they released a statement that went something along the lines of "We swear this wasn't us."" Daniel says
"Not that I'm saying that they did this but saying we didn't do this doesn't mean that they didn't do it" I respond
"Well they really don't have a motive to turn 30 percent of the world into pokemon." Shade says.
"Maybe it was a mad scientist. One that was really into pokemon." Daniel says
"Well the fact that everyone that did transform transformed all at the same time makes me feel like it was either something extraterrestrial or magic." I say
Shade's head rises a little higher before he says "Well magic is just a label we use for things we don't know much about."
I can see Daniels face physically groan before he says, "Let's not have this conversation again please."
Shade gives a small smirk before replying "You know I'm right tho."
Daniel rolls his eyes while saying "Uh huh, anyways Josh you can make stuff float right?"
I hold back a snicker at Daniel's subject change attempt and says "Well not anything too heavy. At least not yet." (Small pause) "And I can't do anything.. complicated."
"Complicated? Complicated how?" Shade asks with a puzzled look on his face.
"Like… this morning I was trying to take a shower but I couldn't get the soap to spread." I respond
"So no floating spheres of water yet." Daniel jokes.
I chuckle before responding "No, sadly not yet."
"Well would you mind making something float. I've gotta say I'm also curious." Shade says.
"Yea I can. Uh" I look around the ground for a second before finding a rock about the size of a tennis ball off to my right. "Here we go"
I focus on pushing up from the bottom of the rock, eventually causing it to rise. I bring the rock up a few feet in the air and hold it there for a few seconds. Eventually I let go of the rock and it falls to the ground hitting it with a soft thump.
I turn back to Daniel and Shade to see that they both have an amazed look on their faces.
They stand there for about a second before Daniel says "Hey, did you know that your eyes were glowing when you did that."
"Uuuhh no I did not" I respond
"Well they were." Daniel responds. "I'm pretty sure they did that in the anime. Like whenever a pokemon used any psychic type move their eyes would glow."
I think for about a second before remembering that they did do that in the anime and respond "Oh yea, they did do that."
We are quiet for a few seconds before Daniel breaks the silence. "Well what about you Shade. I know zorua are supposed to have illusion powers."
I manage to see Shade shrink ever so slightly "Oh… well... I haven't figured them out yet."
"Well, did your powers not spasm out when you transformed?" Daniel asks.
Shade turns his head to the side a little before responding "Uh no I didn't"
"Yea nether did I" I respond after shade.
"Oh well I almost torched my brother when my back changed and erupted into flames. Then I set the couch on fire when flames came out of my mouth." Daniel says.
"Oh" shade says surprised
"Yea my parents aren't too happy that we need to buy a new couch though." Daniel jokes.
I can tell that he is not joking though since… well… his parents aren't really "good parents".They tend to be controlling, they give his younger brother a lot more attention, blatant favoritism toward said younger brother, they tend to blame him for most things, the list goes on.
Shade realizes that we should probably change the subject and says "Well,.. did any of y'all's families change. My dad changed into a zoroark but that's about it."
Daniel is the first to respond saying "Not in my immediate family by both my aunt and uncle from my moms side both changed. My 7 year old cousin didn't, so they are trying to deal with that."
"Wow really" I say " that must be hard not being able to talk to your child."
"Yea that's what I thought too but they are managing so far." Daniel responds.
"Ok, well for me on my moms side my aunt changed into a flareon, on my dads side my grandma turned into a espeon too ,and my cousin is a umbreon now." I say.
"Honestly I'm just glad no one in my family got hurt." Shade says.
"Yea same here." I respond
