Marinette Dupain-Cheng was feeling lonely. She had broken up with Adrien Agreste a few months ago, after realizing that he didn't love her as much as she loved him. He had been distant, distracted, and dishonest with her, and she couldn't take it anymore. She had hoped to find comfort in her alter ego, Ladybug, but even that was becoming harder.
Her partner, Chat Noir, had been acting strange lately, avoiding her, rejecting her, and even flirting with other girls. She felt betrayed, and wondered if he had a secret crush on someone else. She had tried to move on, to focus on her friends, her family, and her passion for fashion.
But she couldn't help feeling empty, especially during the holiday season. She missed having someone to share her joy, her dreams, and her secrets with. She missed having someone to hold her, to kiss her, and to tell her that everything would be alright. She wished she had someone like Luka Couffaine.
Luka Couffaine was feeling hopeful. He had fallen in love with Marinette Dupain-Cheng a long time ago, ever since he had met her at the music festival. He had been drawn to her by her kindness, her courage, and her creativity. He had seen her smile, her laugh, and her blush, and he had wanted to make her happy. He had played his guitar for her, written songs for her, and given her his heart.
He had waited for her, patiently and faithfully, even when she had been dating Adrien Agreste. He had respected her choice and supported her as a friend. He had never given up on her, and hoped that one day, she would see him as more than that.
He wished he had a chance with Marinette Dupain-Cheng. On Christmas Eve, fate decided to give them both what they wished for. Marinette was walking home from the bakery, where she had helped her parents with the last-minute orders. She was carrying a bag of cookies, a gift for her best friend Alya, who was hosting a Christmas party later that night.
She was looking forward to seeing her friends and having some fun. Maybe that would cheer her up. She was crossing the street, when she heard a familiar voice.
"Hey, Marinette."
She turned and saw Luka. He was wearing a leather jacket, a scarf, and a beanie. He had a guitar case on his back, and a smile on his face. He looked handsome, warm, and sweet. She felt her heart skip a beat.
"Hi, Luka," she said, smiling back. "What are you doing here?" he asked.
"I was just heading home. I have to get ready for Alya's party. Are you going?"
"Yeah, I am. I was actually on my way to your place. I have something for you."
He reached into his jacket, and pulled out a small, wrapped box. He handed it to her.
"Merry Christmas, Marinette." She took the box, feeling its weight. She looked at Luka, who was looking at her with a gentle expression.
"A present? For me?"
He nodded. "Yeah, for you. Open it.
She hesitated, then tore the paper. She opened the box, and gasped. Inside was a beautiful silver necklace, with a pendant shaped like a ladybug. She recognized it as a replica of the one that belonged to her grandmother, who had passed away a few years ago. She had told Luka about her, and how much she had meant to her. She looked at Luka, speechless.
He smiled and said. "I know how much you love ladybugs, and how much you miss your grandmother. I thought this would be a nice way to remember her, and to show you how much I care about you."
He took the necklace and moved behind her. He gently clasped it around her neck and whispered in her ear.
"It suits you, Marinette. You're beautiful, and brave, and miraculous."
She felt a warmth in her chest, something she hadn't felt in a long time. She felt happy. She turned around and hugged him. He hugged her back and rested his chin on her head. They stayed like that for a while, feeling each other's heartbeat. They pulled away and looked into each other's eyes. They felt a pull, something they had felt before, but never acted on. They felt the urge to kiss. They leaned in, and their lips met. They kissed, softly at first, then more passionately, as they wrapped their arms around each other. They felt a connection, something they had been waiting for. They felt complete. They broke the kiss and smiled at each other.
Luka stroked Marinette's cheek and said. "I love you, Marinette."
Marinette smiled back and said. "I love you too, Luka." They kissed again and decided to skip the party.
They had found their own Christmas miracle...
