Total Drama Act II: The Second Sonatine

Episode 19: Basically

*Opening Theme*

Dear mom and dad, I'm doing fine

The camera zooms into the dance practice room where Lyle was practicing his ballet. May and Sami were watching him and applauded as he landed on his plié successfully, while Arabelle on the other hand, watched with disgust.

You're always on my mind

The camera leaves the room and heads to the auditorium where we can see Beatrice masterfully playing the piano until Antoinette sits on the keys smirking, causing several off-key notes being played. Ryder sees this and pushes Antoinette off the piano, causing her to land face first to the floor and Ryder and Beatrice high-fived.

You asked me what I wanted to be

The camera zooms under the high-five and next thing we see is that we are in the bedroom of one of the teams' houses, where Janice was writing in her diary. Toxa was standing right behind her, rubbing her hands as if she had a plan. Toxa then turns back, only to find Misha crossing her arms. On the window however, we can see Pierre trying to get a peek of the girls.

And now I think the answer is plain to see

The camera warps to the other house's living room, where we can see Rival and Therion doing their handshake. Mara is then seen in the window waving at them causing Therion to blush but then scowls when he sees Mara taken away by Ulysses. Both boys however, ignored Alec, who served them a plate of cookies, with a shocked expression on his face.

I wanna be famous

The camera zooms into the cookies and warps to the backstage where we can see Carter and Mag arguing, with Nash trying to break them up, by throwing his lasso at them. Lee on the other hand, freaks out as he sees this, and runs away from them instead of telling them something important.

I wanna live close to the sun

We then get a view of the storage room, where Gordon and Vanessa were looking for something. Colin opens the door, scaring the two, but leaves after that with a downed expression.

Go pack your bags, I've already gone far

The camera then warps again to the dressing room, where we see Adala and Zack comforting Sybil, who looked as if she were crying. It then pans onto ELV on the other side of the room, who happens to pass by and (unintentionally) begins to eavesdrop.

Everything to prove, what can you say?

We now go to the cafeteria where we can see Holly, Evan, and Leticia chatting. Arreis and Kimmie have plates of food in their hand but Kimmie accidentally drops the food on Holly, making her mad. Mairead was on the other table, laughing, while Gabe didn't look too pleased.

I'll be there one day

The camera quickly zooms into a small library where Dustin, Oli, and Robert were playing cards. However Maya comes in and slams the table, causing all cards to fall off, getting glares from the three boys.

'Cause I wanna be famous

The scene then swaps to a camera room, where we can see Brea, Blaineley, Chris, and Chef arguing. Don then arrives and stops everyone but is stopped when Enrique starts scolding them.

Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na!

The scene switches to the office room where we can see Chris holding a bunch of papers, then leaves his office with a note that says "NO TRESPASSING" in big red letters.

I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous

The first "I wanna be" shows the Sopranos (Janice, Sami, Toxa, Beatrice, Kimmie) against the Tenors (Alec, Colin, Zack, Lyle, Oli). The second "I wanna be" shows the Mezzo-Sopranos (Vanessa, Misha, Adala, May, Mairead) and the Mezzo-Tenors (Gordon, Pierre, Therion, Nash, Robert) shaking hands. The "I wanna be famous" shows the Altos (Arabelle, Antoinette, Mag, Sybil, Arreis) and Basses (Rival, Ryder, Carter, ELV, Gabe) sharing a group hug.

I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous

The fourth "I wanna be" shows the four interns standing there with mixed expressions. The fifth "I wanna be" shows the five judges with different reactions from different performances. In the second "I wanna be famous" shows the five hosts crossing their arms with smirks on their faces.

*whistling in tune*

The whole cast can now be seen on the stage, bowing as the audience applauds them loudly. Flowers were being thrown to the stage as the curtain closed, revealing the season's title, "Total Drama Act II" in gold letters. The episode title can be seen written below, in silver letters.

*End opening theme*

Day 30, 1:00 PM

Fresh Ent. Building - Lobby

It had now been a full month ever since the whole competition started. No one would assume that it would last this long, let alone a whole month but with everything going on, the case was different.

As everyone had finished eating lunch in the building, it was time for them to gather in the lobby for the next challenge. Everything had been really quiet ever since the previous challenge ended. Now that since the issues were being put aside, everything seemed eerily silent.

Antoinette, Beatrice, Carter, Colin, Gordon, Lyle, May, Misha, Pierre, Ryder, and Sami all made their way back down the lobby, occupying all the seats and couches that were present. Antoinette, Beatrice, May, Misha, and Sami all occupied the left most couches while Carter, Colin, Gordon, Lyle, Pierre, and Ryder all sat by the right side.

Misha gave everyone a good five second stare each. "You know I can't believe I'm about to say this but I'm starting to get tired of y'all bitches' faces." She commented which was immediately followed by a laugh at the end.

Beatrice rolls her eyes. Though she wasn't the type of person to actually do that, she do seemed slightly annoyed, but found it a bit funny as well. "I feel you are going to regret saying that."

Both pink haired girls looked at each other for what seemed like forever until Misha finally spoke up. "Yeah, you're right future teller, I did kinda regret."

May was looking at the both of them with a serious look.

May: "Why do I still feel bad about Beatrice? That whole disagreement just happened like a few days ago. Should I really feel bad about it?"

"That sounded so fake but okay." Carter lightly commented, though his focus clearly was at some of the other boys.

Pierre only hung his head low for the time being. "You know what's funny? The fact that I'm still here. I thought you all hated me. I really do. So why am I not voted out, that's probably some miracle happening right now."

Colin clicked his tongue and teeth together as he emitted a brief tsk sound. "Enough of the pep talk, I don't think we need it."

Ryder: "Honestly, I don't even want to win. I don't care about the prize. I just kind of want to help Colin stand on his own two feet."

Antoinette: "I just wish we can get this out of the way already. I feel tired."

Gordon: He didn't utter a single word almost throughout the whole time he was in the confessional. He let out a deep sigh and finally muttered, "I miss you, Vanessa."

Lyle still looked confused after all that had happened. It also looked as if he never got the chance to catch up. Well Antoinette too, but she was unbothered. "So…" Lyle simply cleared his throat in an attempt to get attention. "Has anything… big happened while I was gone?"

"Well…" Sami rubbed behind her neck, unable to come up with a way to summarize everything to him. "It's a long story."

After what seemed like forever, Chris finally came back in the lobby. The only strange thing was that it was just Chris who came back.

"Wow, where are the others?" Carter widened his eyes at the thought of having only Chris host this time, especially since his contract was previously terminated. "I have to say that I don't think I'm gonna get used to having only one host here instead of four."

"They're in the hospital." Chris plainly stated, planning to not dive into more detail. "Let's just say that there were things that needed to be done."

"I see…"

"So, since I'm hosting and you're supposed to be doing a music challenge today…" the host continued as he got out a rather wrinkled sheet of paper. "You guys will just have to sing one song together."

…Everyone was quiet.

"What?" Chris asked, confused.

"There's… no catch or anything?" May asked, even more weirded out. "Like… no judges whatsoever?"

"We won't be having the Total Drama Island cast judge you like last year." Chris elaborated. "To be frank, there isn't going to be anyone judging today. Just me."

The others were still not really buying it.

"...That's fucking it?" asked Misha.

"Yes." Chris nodded. "That's fucking it." he reiterated. CNow think of what song you'll sing and practice. You only have…" he checks his watch. "Forty-five minutes."

"Forty-five minutes?" Ryder gawked. "You can barely even practice a whole stanza."

"You're just going to do a simple song. Not a freaking chorale. Forty-five minutes. No more no less." Chris dismissed and left the cast in the lobby. "I will come back here once it's time."

Lyle: "I don't think any of us are capable in leading the whole group…"

Sami raised her hand. "I'll lead our practice. I have experience."

"Like what?" Antoinette sneered.

"Um…" the fandom girl began jutting her chin. "Well… I'll think of something."

Antoinette rolled her eyes. "Ugh. See, this is why I—"

Her sentence was interrupted as she could feel a sharp burst of pain in her head. It felt like some sort of massive headache and she was starting to get extremely dizzy.

"Whoa… hey, Antoinette!" Pierre gasped and caught her. "Guys, call Chris, and quick!"

"On it." Gordon nodded and immediately rushed up to the staircase where Chris went up earlier.

Moments later, a very unconscious Antoinette was taken into a stretcher and into an ambulance. Chris had sent an unnamed intern to go and accompany her to the nearest hospital, with the ambulance speeding away.

"Looks like that head injury didn't wore off after all." Chris sighed. "Maybe a whole month wasn't enough for a hiatus…"

"What's gonna happen to her?" Misha asked. She felt some sort of attachment towards her during the incident since she was with her all along but her pulling off that ridiculous stunt last challenge… yeah, that was a different story.

Chris thought about it for a quick moment and just nodded. "We have no choice but to eliminate her." He answered. "For good. She already returned and judging by everything that happened, yup, not worth it. Let's face it, she probably wouldn't want to return either."

Carter: "Well she probably would, she pulled off a 180 last time."

Chris cleared his throat to gain their attention. "I will have Sami lead you all guys. Remember, forty-five minutes." He said as if nothing happened.

Once the host left (again), Sami proceeded to head towards the front of the remaining contestants. "So guys, I have a song that we could easily do. Plus we can easily harmonize the chorus in like, under ten minutes."

She wrote down the song's lyrics onto a sheet of paper as fast as she could, and passed it towards the rest of the members.

"Bitch you have gotta be kidding me. This song? Surely there's gotta be something a bit better—"

"This'll do." Pierre dismissed Misha's ongoing rambling.

Sami took the lead and distributed the parts to each remaining member. Since they pretty much knew how each and every one of them sounded by now, it was easy to assign the different verses to them.

It was now time to practice. They all gathered up in a straight line facing towards the other exit, pretending that Chris was standing there listening to them. When the chorus came, that was when things were starting to get a bit clunky.

"How on earth are we gonna harmonize in the chorus?" Colin sighed. "This is actually way harder than going solo."

"I'm actually gonna agree with you there." Carter nodded, viewing a copy of the song, complete with notes. Looks like they all managed to photocopy the song earlier with notes.

Sami stared at the notes for nearly the entire minute. She tried to remember the voice range of her fellow castmates. "Beatrice and I can get the Soprano part."

"Yeah I can do that." Beatrice acknowledged.

"May and Misha, you guys can get the Alto part. I think it's easier for you guys since you two are Mezzo-Sopranos."

"Uh-huh." Misha just nodded along. May gave a thumbs up despite not saying anything.

The red-haired girl looked at the remaining boys in the cast. Maybe she could have three of them be Tenors and the other three be Basses? Problem is there are only two Basses in the group… Can one of the Tenors even go that low?

Then she had an idea.

"All the Tenors can get the melody part." She declared. "However, I think Pierre was also a Mezzo-Tenor… can you reach Bass?"

"I don't think so…" Pierre shook his head, looking at the even lower notes in the sheet.

Sami nodded. "That's fine. The Tenors have to be the clearest part anyway since they're getting the melody part. You can join them in."

After a bit of reviewing each of the notes per voice, it was time to test the blending.

"Alright guys, let's see if we can blend these notes together. Just the shine part." Sami got into her position next to Beatrice. "In three, two, one…"

"Sh—"

Chris had barged into the scene. "Performers, time's up!"

Ryder: "What!? We were just getting into the hard part—"

The remaining ten all looked at each other. The verses were easy enough for them, but the chorus…

Chris noticed their uneasy looks. "You can start playing the song now." He checked his watch and the clock behind him. "I don't think we have that much time left."

They got into their positions. Sami and Beatrice in the far left followed by Misha and May, then Colin, Lyle, Gordon, and Pierre, and finally Ryder and Carter.

A beautiful piano melody started playing from the music player and onto the speakers. The camera focuses on the final ten as they all had their microphones, ready to sing their hearts out (unprepared) for the first time after the tragic incident.

"It was just two lovers" Beatrice began, lightly rapping the first line of the verse. "Sittin' in the car, listening to Blonde, fallin' for each other"

"Pink and orange skies, feelin' super childish, no Donald Glover" Ryder inmediately followed, imitating the same rap flow Beatrice had. "Missed call from my mother,"

"Like, Where you at tonight?" Gordon continued rapping, before eventually fading out to show off his vocal colour. "Got no alibi, I was all alone with the love of my life"

Colin continued the verse and sang. "She's got glitter for skin, my radiant beam in the night." Everyone got ready for the chorus. "I don't need no light to see you"

"Shiiiiiiiiiiine" Everyone chorused together in an almost perfect harmony. "It's your golden hoooouuuur"

Chris was almost amazed at how they were able to pull this off under an hour of practice.

"You slow down tiiiiime, in your golden hoooouuuur" They sang as one before May began the second verse.

"We were just two lovers" she rapped at her best shot. "Feet up on the dash, drivin' nowhere fast, burnin' through the summer"

Carter in the mean time had little to no problem with his lines. "Radio on blast, make the moment last, she got solar power, minutes feel like hours,"

It was now Misha's turn to rap and sing. "She knew she was the baddest. Can you even imagine fallin' like I did? For the love of my life,"

"She's got glow on her face a glorious look in her eyes" Lyle continued, putting his vocal color on every syllable. "My angel of light"

"I was all alone with the love of my life. She's got glitter for skin, my radiant beam in the night" Pierre had sung his own part, forgetting when did he ever sang in the entire season.

It was finally Sami's turn to sing her short line as she had made way for the others. "I don't need no light to see you"

"Shiiiiiiiiiiine" Everyone chorused together once more, though someone was already starting to fall apart on the harmony. "It's your golden hoooouuuur"

Chris was starting to look at them intently as they sang. "You slow down tiiiiime, in your golden hoooouuuur"

They all joined hands together before coming into a bow. It felt good to perform again after the entire tragedy, even at least once.

The host was still looking at them, thinking about whoever it was that was falling apart in that last chorus a few seconds ago.

"Actually, someone filmed the whole thing. I'll go see that clip to choose who to get rid of." Chris suggested to himself before dashing out of the room.

Beatrice: "Sometimes I feel like Chris got weirder." She twirled a strand of her pink hair. "I feel like someone who I care the most is getting eliminated here…"

Carter: "I know who hit the wrong note." Carter sighed. "He was standing near me."

Colin: "Me." He looks down in shame. "I think…"

Gordon: "Wait, so Chris really is picking who will be eliminated? Oh god… let's hope he doesn't pick two. But that just means we're getting closer to the finale then."

Lyle: "I did not hit the wrong note. No siree." He shook his head.

May: She was turning into a nervous wreck. "I hit the wrong note… oh my gosh…"

Misha: "This bitch just said he needed to finish the episode early so he can lie back down on his pajamas."

Pierre: "Bro I don't think I can even hear myself sing when we did that chorus."

Ryder: "I'm not sure if I hit that correctly or am I just being delusional."

Sami: "We didn't get to practice much of the chorus part… just the verses…" She sighed. "I think I may be going home tonight."

Chris had came back into the room with a cameraman who seemed to be replaying the clip over and over again. "So I found out that two of you didn't sing the song as well as everyone else. That was weird, I thought I only found one but this cameraman said there were two."

Mixed reactions were seen among the cast members.

"So this afternoon, we will be saying goodbyes to…"

"...Ryder and May."

Ryder nodded in understanding, but May looks slightly shocked.

"I get that I was eliminated… but you?" She asked him.

"Well, I guess I wasn't being delusional at all." Ryder laughed.

May looked at him in the eyes. "Did you… lose on purpose?"

The social introvert had thought about it. "Well, not really. I thought winning would be good but losing actually didn't hurt. Sometimes I think I'm just getting tired of this."

The gamer nodded at him in response. "Yeah… I agree with you there…"

"So I can… ask you out now?"

May was more than happy. "Yes!"

"Hey guys!" Beatrice gave May a hug, as well as to Ryder. "I'm gonna miss you two. You guys have been my closest friends this season."

May hugged her back. "I know, Beatrice. And… I want to apologize to you for being harsh on you these past few days."

"It's okay." She smiled. "I'm happy for you and Ryder." She looked at him. "Take care of her, okay?"

"You bet!" He gave her a high five. "Win this for us, Bea."

"You got it!"

The rest of the cast had also given them hugs and high fives as their goodbyes.

"Say hi to the others for us." Lyle said.

"Oh, we will." May smiled. "Also why are you guys acting so sappy and dramatic? We'll be just a few floors away!"

"I suddenly forgot we're in the same building as the others." Carter laughed.

Chris stepped into the moment. "Goodbyes are up! You guys must like extending your time a lot. Now head on over to the Red Door of… never mind." He said as he realized the Red Door of Shame was not in the building. "I forgot we weren't in the theater anymore. So uh… just go on the… uh… stairs."

"Yes. The stairs. Right." Ryder plainly nodded with a chuckle. He took May's small hand in his. "See you guys."

Ryder and May already left the lobby. Later on, the rest of the cast were given time to themselves for the day.

"Well that was a quick breather episode." Chris laughed. "Though I wouldn't really say breather because of Antoinette, but that was… three less contestants now. There were supposed to be only two if that didn't happen. So what will happen to our final 8? Will the drama mellow down or will there still be answers left unsolved? Will my other hosts come back? Find out next time on!"

He strikes a pose. "Total Drama!"

He strikes another pose. "Act II!"

He strikes a final pose that would probably give him nightmares in the days to come. "The Second Sonatine!"

The camera fades to black.

"God I shouldn't have posed for the camera. Now I look like a—"

End of episode.

FINAL 8: Beatrice, Carter, Colin, Gordon, Lyle, Misha, Pierre, Sami

god i hate this episode so much tbh. this was literally stuck for 2 years because the episode itself gave me major writers block lmao, not to mention the hiatus. i'm glad this episode is over lol. this really reminds me of that one Act 1 episode where the (filler) challenge was to just sing altogether lmao. anyway, glad that's done because we can now finally move on to the more latter episodes now. tho hey, at least we get to see them test their skills in harmonizing lmao. i don't think we've done that before.

thanks for being patient with me for this story tho

So now that we've reached the end of the reupload, here are my reasons of eliminating the three contestants:

Antoinette - I feel like her whole arc is done by now. I'm pretty sure some people already got tired of her since the beginning but she was actually a fun character to write. Thank you Runami for sending her!

Ryder - Since he is a veteran in Act III, I never actually planned to have him make it to the endgame just to be fair. I don't think his arc ended satisyfingly though so that's why he's still in Act III lmao. Thank you JG243!

May - Now this one was a bummer, she was one of the finalist contenders for this season but after her arc with Beatrice has resolved, I'm not sure how to keep her in. Thank you gamergirl101 for her!

See you all next update! Thanks to everyone who has been sticking with me since the start of this season in 2019/2020!
