Happy new year everyone! I hope you all are ready for the continuation of this story because I sure am!
Merendinoemiliano: Thank you. I hope you had a merry christmas and a happy new year! ?
Optimus470: Same to you my friend
Lockdown: You think he will encounter the heir of the Bael and Astaroth families? Lets find out.
Vulcan: Lol.
"Man, I can't believe we fought a real dragon! My blood is still pumping after fighting him!"
"Yes, Vandill, thank you for reminding us for the hundredth time about facing a mother fucking dragon!"
The chattering between Vandill and Issei was amusing for Rias Gremory to hear, they had arrived in the Underworld not long after returning from the Boreal Forest to prepare for the Young Devil Gathering and give her new servants, Issei, Asia, and Vandill, the proper lessons of how to act towards nobles. A task she noticed the Jotun was quick to learn which he had known already since he was around nobility all his life living among the Aesir. That same day they arrived had also been the start of their training for on there way to the Gremory Manson Rias, with Azazel's help, had her servants tested by having a dragon attack them, a dragon they learned was the Dragon King Tannin who chose to become a Devil. After battling Tannin they had all been training in the mountains outside her home, including Rias. The Battle of Boreal was the toughest they ever fought and the catalyst for them all to grow stronger.
"A dragon who is busting his ass off helping you grow stronger and find the catalyst to unlock your Balance Break. I am surprised the Battle of Boreal did not make you unlock it. Especially since you thought master Rias had died."
"Well she didn't!" Issei protested, a hint of anger passing over his face, "Now will you shut up about that already!?"
Vandill blinked then put his hands up in defense, "Alright. Alright. I won't talk about it ever again."
"Be sure you do." Growled Issei before turning his attention away from the Jotun. Issei had been in many battles but that one…that battle against an army of monsters and Dark Elves had been were he took lives and nearly lost the president. Ylva taught him how to cope with killing but nobody, not even the president and her big soft boobs, could make him forget watching her be engulfed in fire…just like Yuma…just like Raynare. Unlike the Fallen Angel the president was lucky enough to survive.
And continue to bury my face in her breasts. Gloominess turned to lewdness at remembering having his face buried into the president's ninety-ninety centimeter bust this morning. Ah, what a great way to wake up.
"You're disgusting." Koneko glared at the pervert's expression.
"Do we know when our friends from Asgard will be arriving?" Kiba asked to break the awkward silence after the Pawn's outburst to the Rook.
"Hmmm. From what my brother told me they should be arriving very soon." Rias answered, glancing at a clock nearby. It was ten till eleven-thirty, the time Sirzechs said Asgard would arrive. Five minutes later the Gremory Peerage rounded a corner to find Sona, Saji, and Tsubaki standing before a set of double doors, "Sona. I assume you were waiting for me?"
The bispectral woman pushed her glasses up into place causing the light to cover her lens, "On the contrary, I do not wish to be in the same room as my sister again yet. I can endure so much of her embarrassing antics and this morning drew that line."
"Do I dare ask?" Issei asked his fellow dragon sacred gear possessor.
Saji sheepishly smiled, "If you wanna experience Ms. Sona's wrath, be my guest."
Despite her amusement Rias had to let out a long sigh, "I wonder if Thor has to deal with this sort of stuff with his older siblings."
"Well one is a pervert with a harem and the other is a gossip guy."
A familiar dark and blonde-haired fallen angel stepped into the room with a big grin and same older suit. Issei's face lit up at the arrival of his self-proclaimed mentor.
"Old man Azazel!"
"Looking good, best pull out your best sides as the biggest big wigs this side of the Underworld and beyond showed up for this reception. That includes your friends from the north."
"Oh? Is Thor here? I thought Asgard was arriving at eleven-thirty?"
"Not yet. Lord Odin and Lady Freyja arrived earlier to discuss important stuff with me, Micheal, and the other Satans."
"Does that mean…Xenovia is here?"
The question by Kiba caught the Fallen Angel's attention and he grinned at the blonde Knight, "Why yes she is and eager to see you again, Mr. Kiba. Now you kiddos have fun and knock 'em dead."
"We intend to." Saji declared, following Tsubaki and Sona through the doors.
"Lady Sona Sitri, sister to Serafall Leviathan along with her Queen Tsubaki Shinra and Pawn Genshirou Saji!" A booming announcer heralded their entrance to the room, the sound of rustling like a quarrel soon following.
"Poor Ms. Sitir. I'd feel the same way if I had an older sibling like that." Issei commented as he sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
"This is it everyone. I expect all of you, especially, you Issei, to be on your best behavior. It is time we show the noble families the strength of the Gremory Peerage!"
Normally a King would choose two of their closest servants but all of Rias Gremory's servants were close to her, they were her family and she would
"Lady Rias Gremory, sister to Sirzechs Lucifer! Accompanying her are Queen Akeno Himejima, and her Peerage!" The applause rose up even through the door signaling the final of the six young prestigious devils.
Issei gasped at how many noble Devils sat within the room on opposite sides on beautifully crafted stone stands. Looking at the many faces he finally caught sight of Rias' parents sitting next to the king and queen of Asgard who he noticed were being given side glares by the other nobles around them. Neither Gods cared for they knew the Gremory family would protect them should any insult be sent their way. After their introduction they were led into the reception hall which was just as extravagant, seemingly far larger than the exterior seemed to allow for. Much of the room leaned towards a mix of black and purple stonework with stain-glass windows bordered in gold of every color in the spectrum. Dozens of people dotted the area already mingling or getting something at the nearby refreshments table.
A large clock at the back read eleven-twenty-five, Five minutes before the others arrive. Hopefully they would not be late.
Suddenly there came a shout followed by a burst of magic and a great explosion that sent smoke everywhere. Following the direction of the noise Issei saw a beautiful woman draped in a blue robe with long light blonde hair and red eyes glaring behind glasses at a sneering man with tattoos dotting his body. His hair was bright blue which, unlike Xenovia's, was a bright and gaudy shade chosen to stand out in a crowd. Similar to the woman, he wore a nobleman's attire though it was pristine; shining in a way that shouted to the room that he had just purchased it, likely for the very event. He wondered what had caused these two to start fighting before the Rating Games even began?
"Zephyrdol, can you not help starting a fight at a place like this? Do you want to die? Do you really want to die? Even if I kill you, I won't be blamed by the people on top." Agares warned, eyes never leaving her opponent.
The male name Zephyrdol laughed like a madman at the girl's threat, "Die? Bitch, I think you've forgotten that my power dwarfs you and your shitty group you call a Peerage! I'll show you in a private room without interference! You, Seekvaira, really don't like being without guards, now do you? Is that why you're still a virgin who hasn't let a man come near till now!? Geez, all the women of families of the Satan's stink of virgins and are unbearable! That's why I said that I'd do a formal opening ceremony for you!" Sensing someone watching he turned his gaze to the new comers, his wicked grin widened, "And speaking of virgins look who showed up, the selfish brat Gremory and her bitches!"
Rias frowned at the foul language the devil sent towards her, "I suggest you watch your tone Glasya-Labolas!"
The green haired Devil scoffed at her words, "What? Do you think a grumpy bitch like you can beat me? You know, I think I realize why you bitches are so stuck-up, cuz you ain't gotten fucked yet! Hahahaha!"
"Hey goblin boy!"
The laughter that echoed through the room died and was replaced with a frown, the heir to the Glasya-Labolas eyes flickered to one who called him out. A large man, probably ten feet tall with long brown hair in a braid stepped in front of Rias. Zephyrdol narrowed his eyes at the stranger, "Who are you?"
"The names Vandill Aurvandillson, Rook of Rias Gremory and I'd tell you to apologize but a foul mouth like yours should be shut forever!"
"Vandill, stand down." Rias ordered.
"Why?"
"That is Zephyrdol, heir to the Glasya-Labolas family and younger brother to Lord Asmodeus." Rias said, her glare still locked on Zephyrdol.
"So? I'm not going to stand around and let him bad mouth you or anyone else in this room."
Zephyrdol glared at the Rook, "Hmmm…weird name…very tall…oh! Aren't you one of those giant people from the North!? Wow, I heard they'd be allowing other mythologies in but never imagined some small dicked giant like you. Just crawl away and let the adults talk here, I am the new heir for-"
"Lord Asmodeus' baby brother. I know, Master Rias already told me who you were and quite frankly I don't give a damn goblin boy. If you're so eager for battle perhaps try facing a Jotun? The Giants of Jotunheim are not to be underestimated. We have the strength to face Gods."
"Speaking of which." Akeno muttered to Rias and nudged her to look at the clock, eleven-thirty…
Behind the doors they just walked through a bright flash of light could be seen followed by the roar of thunder before a dead silence filled the room. A second later the doors were flung open and nine warriors walked in without any announcement, nine warriors each clad in a different outfit from modern day suits to old traditional medieval wear. Leading the company was a tall handsome red haired warrior dressed in a long black tunic accented with Norse rune style trimmings, a dark green cape accented with the same Norse runes, a crimson shirt beneath the black tunic and finishing it was a matching pair of black pants and riding boots. Flanking the red head's right side was a gorgeous silver haired woman in a pristine gray business suit, one could mistake her as a thatcher or secretary and an equally gorgeous violet haired woman wearing an elegant emerald dress under a midnight blue fur lined traveling cloak. Behind the violet haired maiden was a buxom blonde in a white formal dress showing so much cleavage her breasts were expected to spill out if she jumped in it, and behind the silver haired one was a green haired girl with pointy ears wearing a form fitting yellow dress that showed her shapely legs and curvy figure.
Wow! Talk about an entrance! Issei thought, unable to keep his eyes from wandering all over the ladies and their attire.
Zephyrdol's sneer returned at the nine newcomers, "Oh look! More small dicked northerners have come to gloat about how much better they are! What are you pussies called again? Assguard? Is that because the men guard the ass holes of your fuckable maidens? They sure look fuckable to me! Especially the big titty milf and silver hair one!"
Henrietta tutted, "Such foul language. It is a wonder how a brat like him became an heir."
Zephyrdol sneered, "This brat can show you what I'm capable of. In batte and in bed."
Thor exchanged looks with Henrietta who nodded, despite being a bodyguard he still felt the need of a teacher's approval to do what he was about to do. He understood Asgard had fallen on hard times and needed help from Grigori and the Underworld to get where they are but he wouldn't allow his home or friends to be insulted by the remaining families among the seventy-two pillars. Like Alruna said, he would show them why it was not wise to mess with a God.
"I would suggest against it," Boomed a loud voice. From the opposite end of the hall approached a tall brown haired man whose muscles rivaled Vandill's in size and a frame eclipsing all except the Giant; face stoic and focused though held a hint of enjoyment behind it at the prospect of a fight. "That is Thor Odinson. Are you so cocky Glasya-Labolas to face the God of Thunder?"
The cocky youth hesitated for a split second before his bravado returned with that sneer again, "God, huh? I've never tested my skill against one yet."
"Skills that are no match against him." Vandill said, "He beat a Cadre class Fallen Angel and the White Dragon Emperor. Your feeble skills are no match for the Son of Odin."
Zephyrdol scoffed, "I doubt this redhead is the so-called God of Thunder, he looks more like the Gremory bitch. Maybe he-gah!"
The rest of the youthful Pureblood's words were cut short by the Allfather's son grabbing him roughly by the throat. His cold stare silently telling Zephyrdol to stop talking or things will get worse. Unable to say any word, Zephyrdol chose to open his palms and let his most powerful spell. How dare he put his hands on him! He would show this red head idiot the power of the Glasya-Labolas family!
Rossweisse was about to warn the Aesir prince but stopped herself when the Devil noble was thrown towards the other nobles who warned against facing Thor. A twitch of the lip upward by the brown haired man was the last thing Zephyrdol saw before his vision was blocked by a large fist connected with his face sending spinning and smashing through one of the stained glass windows leaving broken glasses to sprinkle to the floor, a patch of moonlight to spill into the reception hall, and a Zephyrdol shaped hole in the window. The silence was broken by Vandill's howl of laughter.
"If you need another demonstration, I am more than willing to fight the rest of you." Thor said, glaring at Glasya-Labolas's Peerage who shrank back in fear, "Go. Attend to your master and be sure he and the rest of you never insult Asgard nor its friends."
He kept his gaze on the Peerage until they were out of sight before turning his attention to the Devil he threw Zephyrdol at, Thor had to raise his head to look at him face to face. The muscles and height reminded the God of Thunder of Hrungnir. Either he wanted to stay in shape or he, like Asgard, was a warrior who liked to solve problems with his fists.
"Your attempt to avoid battle was appreciated but he was asking for it." Said Thor.
The large noble Devil nodded, "Zephyrdol has always been like that. Perhaps that will knock some sense into him. Is it true you defeated a Fallen Angel leader and the White Dragon Emperor?"
"With some help. As I did with the Glasya-Labolas heir just now." He extended his hand, "You know me but I do not know you."
"Sairaorg Bael," he introduced, gripping Thor's hand with a powerful squeeze. It was obvious he was delivering a vice-like shake, the others around able to hear the groaning of bones as they stared each other down. "A pleasure to meet a living legend."
"And to you as well."
Long before coming here Thor took time to read up on the society of Devils and which of the seventy-two pillars still remained after the civil war. Although the Gremory family had its former heir become one of the four Satan's, it was the Bael family who were the real rulers of the Underworld which Sairaorg was the heir to. He expected Rias and Sona to be the only nice Pureblood Devils but today the heir of the Bael family showed he was a Pureblood Devil he could trust.
That makes three Purebloods I've befriended. Hopefully I can make it four with that woman, Thor thought as he was led to Rias peerage who was talking to the glasses wearing noble girl.
"Your new Rook you say? His action to defend me against Zephyrdol was very noble. Ah and now we are graced by the God of Thunder himself." She said turning her attention to Thor when he reached them, "Many thanks, Lord of Thunder. I am the heir to the Agares family, Seekvaira."
"Your welcome, Lady Agares," Said Thor looking at the Devil's gathered around him, "Bael, Agares, Gremory, Sitir, and twenty-eight other families are all that remain after the Civil War."
A shadow passed over Seekvaira's face, "A piece of history I prefer not to talk about please."
"Of course. We are here not to talk about the past but show we can create a future were we may live a peaceful life in unity."
A tiny smile graced the red eye girl's lips, "Well said, Lord Thor. This gathering is the start of that unity between Heaven, Grigori, and Asgard."
"Now that is how to display power." Henreitta commented, leading the rest of Thor's team over, "I was led to believe your people were supposed to be nobles, that boy acted the complete opposite."
"That's because Zephyrdol does not have the sense of duty of his sibling, hoping to ride out his family name without the responsibility. Unfortunately, due to an accident last month involving his brother he was added to the gathering at the last minute. That accident caused him to become the heir to his family."
The blonde Einherjar nodded, "This accident must have caused the original Glasya-Labolas's heir to die since you never mention him recovering in a hospital."
"A regrettable event for the family, one Zephyrdol did not care for. Speaking of Zephyrdol…" Seekvaira's gaze narrowed at the sight of Zephyrdol being carried back into the hall by his Peerage.
"Bastard!" The bloodied devil stepped forward. "When I'm through with you…"
"Ah, good to see everyone has met up, though I believe it is time to begin," The imposing yet calm voice of Sirzechs shattered the tension. Not even Zephyrdor was willing to cause trouble in his presence. Accompanying him were the other three Satans; Serafall Leviathan, Falbium Asmodius and Ajuka Beelzebub. Thor focused on the last of the group having heard the current Beelzebub's accomplishment of inventing the Devil's Evil Piece system through which any similar species could be reincarnated into a Devil. Heaven had reverse engineered the Brave Saint system, a card-based variant in Heaven able to do the same for angels. "It would not do well to look barbaric in front of our guests."
"Especially those who are related to us." Falibum Asmodius added, his gaze focusing on his little brother who glared defiantly at him before looking away with a snort.
"My, my, no manners at all." Tutted Freya as she and Odin joined the Satans, the Allmother sending a wink Thor ways as a sign of acknowledgement for displaying his strength. Behind the rulers of Asgard, standing vigilant as always, was Baraqiel and another man with silver hair dressed in elegant violet robes. The former whispered to the Allfather then stepped forward to meet with his daughter, the pair stared at each other before embracing in a hug.
"Daughter. I hope you are well."
"As always, I am, father."
"And….your boyfriend?"
Akeno let loose a giggle at the question before beckoning the Dwarf over, the little man had combed his hair as best he could and chose a tuxedo.
"Mr. Baraqiel, it's a pleasure to see you again. I assure you your daughter is in good hands."
The tall man nodded, "I know she is. For my daughter chose a good man to love her."
"It's so good to see them reconnect." Sigrun commented to Rias, "The bond between parents and children should never be broken."
"Yes." Said Rias, "Ah, I see Sairaorg is making friends with Thor already. I'm certain they will become quick friends if not rivals."
"Rivals?" The Emerald Valkyrie asked.
"Like the Aesir, my cousin loves to fight."
"And he's your cousin?"
"My mother was part of the Bael family and married my father into the Gremory family."
"Interesting." Sigrun eyed the God of Thunder and Bael heir, "Yes, I believe they will be friends as much as they will be rivals."
"Thank you all for coming," Sirzechs became the center of attention once more with a mighty clap of his hands. "This gathering is more than merely bringing together those we consider our best young powers, but to ensure your growth continues. With our numbers dwindling on all sides, it is in our best interest as a people to ensure that our young grow up strong and the best way to do that is to foster growth in the presence of others of unquestioned strength. You shall contend with each other and your servants in the coming weeks, but throughout all of that never forget this is as much about cooperation as it is about competition. To that end, we have invited our allies to attend and witness the events. The leadership of Asgard are present with Heaven and Olympus' arrival to coincide with the first Rating Games. If each of the prospective young ones will step forward, we wish to hear what drives you towards the future."
Thor listed as Sairaorg, Rias, and Sona all shared their motivations. For Sairaorg he strived to be a Satan to make changes needed for all to thrive, a noble goal indeed. For Rias she would lead her family and win every Rating game, which was much less impressive than her cousin. Lastly was Sona and her dream to open a school to teach young devils how to perform and excel at Rating Games reminded him of Rossweisse's own dream to open schools to allow Norse Magic schools in the lands of Asgard's allies and start a business training new Valkyries out of the females. Out of all the heirs gathered only those three had motivations or they were the brave ones to share them while the others did not want to.
"Sairaorg and Sona have noble goals." Rossweisse whispered to Thor who nodded approvingly. Change was good and that was what the Underworld needed.
"Can't say the same for Rias." Andreas said, "Of course all the heirs will rule their family but to win Rating Games?"
"I think to be a champion is just as important as opening a school or ruling the Underworld."
The Greek Einherjar looked at Henrietta, not surprised she would defend Rias' goal since she was Valhalla's champion. For Andreas Mandrapilias, being a champion was a title to be bestowed upon one for protecting the innocent, not winning games. Sona and Sairaorg were worth supporting but not Rias. Speaking of Rias, she and Sona were to be the first Rating Game match to happen on the 22th, leaving them a week's worth to train before the match began. What an interesting match up, they were both smart with powerful servants but one would be the winner and face whoever else was partaking in the Rating Game. He hoped Sona would win.
"So that's that then?" Sigrun asked, "We get to see Sona and Rias duke it out in a week? I am looking forward to seeing Rias win."
"You mean Sona." Andreas retorted, ignoring whatever else was talked about.
"Andreas Mandrapilias… are you implying Sona is better?"
"Let's discuss it later." Azrael interrupted the couple, he did not want to have everyone hear the discussion on who would win the first match.
"They mentioned Heaven and Olympus but I didn't see them when we arrived." Rossweisse commented.
"They must be arriving before the Rating Game day." Answered Rias, "Until that day comes you are welcome to stay at my family home until then."
Behind them Havarti sent a questioning look at the Monkey King, "Hey, Bikou, why did you still wear your armor?"
Bikou shrugged, "Formality was never my style. Besides, you never know when a battle may happen."
"Thor sure didn't need armor to beat that punk."
"Well he was, as you said, a punk. Who's to say someone else comes attacking like those old Satans?"
One orange eyebrow rose, "You're kidding, right? Who would be stupid enough to attack this place when so many powerful beings are here?"
Outside
Where are you? The buxom woman wondered, her golden eyes scanning the hole in the window before spotting the white haired girl for a split second. There you are, my little Shirone…
"Kuroka." The Nekomata didn't jump at the calm gentlemanly voice suddenly addressing her, "Vali told us not to go wandering off. He wants you back here right now."
"Relax Arther, nobody knows I'm here. Besides you don't need me for whatever plan Vali has cooked up. What I want is my little sister and I intend to get her this time."
"That time will have to wait."
One ear twitched as a devious smile spread upon Kuroka's lips, "I can wait a little longer."
Later at the Gremory home
"She calls it a house but this is a manor." Sigrun said, eyes wide and amazed as the Gremory home came into view.
After the reception had concluded, carriages arrived to take Thor and his team to Rias' childhood home. As she had promised, they were permitted lodging and accommodations for the duration of their stay. Even the massive status around Asgard could not prepare them for Sirzech's former home. Though only two stories high, the building seemed to stretch forever in both directions wrapping back around itself. Every few windows, there was a reinforced wall that almost gave off the idea it was less a manor and more a modernized castle fortress.
"It reminds me of Valhalla. The grounds alone must be immense!" Henrietta commented.
"If so then we definitely will have many areas to train in." Said Thor, excitement to keep training shining in his eyes.
"Training that does not include physical activities. Your mind is just as important as your physical and magical prowess." Rossweisse said
"Yes dear." Thor replied, earning a giggle from Sigrun and Ylva.
"Welcome to the Gemory Manor." The greeting came from a silver-haired woman wearing a maid uniform Thor remembering seeing at the Peace Summit.
"Lady Grayfia, I hope you have been well since the summit," He bowed politely.
"Just Grayfia at this time," She corrected with a tut of her fingers. "I am on duty and thus am currently the head maid of the Gremory household. Please follow me."
The God and his team carried their luggage inside until a veritable army of butlers swooped in, taking each suitcase and absconding with them up the stairs before anyone could blink.
"Lady Rias has already departed for the mountains with Mr. Hyoudou though the rest of her peerage are present participating in their training regimens until joining them.
"In that case I'll find Kiba." Said Andreas with a wide grin on his face, "I want to test my skills against him again."
"You shall be taken to him." Grayfia said silently commanding a butler to lead the Greek Einherjar to where the Gremory Knight was honing his swordsmanship, "If the rest of you wish to train you may follow your friend or greet our Lady."
"No need, Grayfia, the master of the house must always come to greet the guests."
Descending a large staircase was a middle-aged man with red hair and an immaculate suit flanked by servants, a child and an absolutely gorgeous woman who was unmistakably his wife. She had brown hair and based on her resemblance to Rias could only be her mother.
"Lord and Lady Gremory." Thor greeted, offering a gloved hand for the pair to shake, "It is a pleasure to meet you."
"And you're as well, Lord Odinson. To have the God who saved my daughter is always welcome in our home." Lord Gremory replied with a broad smile, "I am Zeoticus and this is my wife Venelana."
"And this," Venelana added gesturing to the red haired boy beside her, "is our adorable grandson, Millicas."
The boy perked up when he was mentioned, "I've heard many stories about you, Lord Thunder! Aunt Rias told me how you defeated a Fallen Angel leader and the White Dragon Emperor!"
Thor knelt to be eye level with the boy and grinned, "But I was aided by Issei and Akeno so my victories did not belong to just me but to your aunt's friends."
"Did you also fight Dark Elves? Are they really back?"
A shadow fell over Ylva at the boy's question, he knew the Elven princess was hell bent on seeking justice for them for what they did to her kingdom.
"Yes. Lots of them."
"I personally never met an elf until now." Venelana said, eyeing the green haired beauty beside Rossweisse, "I hear their beauty is unmatched by all within the Supernatural world."
The dark shadow was replaced by a blush by the Elven princess, "With all due respect, Lady Gremory. It is unjust to name us unmatched in beauty for is your daughter not the fairest maiden to Issei or Rossweisse is to Thor?"
Rossweisse looked as if all the blood in her body had drained, Thor grinned, and Venelana tried to stifle a giggle.
"My, my, such poetic words." The buxom pureblood said cheerfully, "and please call us Venelana and Zeoticus."
"As you wish, Lord Zeoticus, Lady Venelana."
"Did…did you really have to say that?" Rossweisse whispered to Ylva.
"It is true is it not?" Ylva asked back with a smile, "Thor loves you more than any other woman he has met. And even Issei, despite being a pervert wanting a harem, loves Rias dearly, but if they are romantic feelings…only time will tell."
"These Dark Elves." Zeoticus started, "Will you tell us more about battling them over lunch?"
Underworld capital Lilith
"I must say the contestants for the youth Devil Rating game are very low. I half expected at least fifty but only six? The ambitions of today's generation are not as high as ours were." Freya said, looking over the list of Peerages.
"Our ambitions were to kill one another until we made peace." Said Odin enjoying the view of his wife's round butt in her silk nightgown.
Freya giggled sadly, "Such malice thoughts would have been the destruction of Asgard and Vanaheim. If it wasn't for the great Mimir we wouldn't be were we are now."
"A life of peace were I can enjoy looking at all your amazing curves my Frigg."
"Oh Odin you are so naughty." Freya said.
Before Odin could give another flirtatious comment one of his ravens came soring in through the window and perched itself upon his shoulder. The bird crocked into the Allfather's ear and his remaining eye narrowed, a sign Freya did not see as a good.
"What is it?" Freya asked as the raven went flying once more.
"Vidar says people are protesting about our alliance with the Biblical Faction."
Freya frowned, "How can that be? I thought only Loki disagreed about it?"
"Apparently he was only one vocal about it or…he has been stirring up problems while we are away and Vidar cannot handle them."
"Should we go back?"
Odin shook his head, "If Vidar is to be king then he must solve these issues himself. We cannot always be there to hold his hand. I have faith he can calm the masses before they become riots."
"As do I. It will break my heart to see the Dwarves' hard work in rebuilding Asgard be ruined by violent mobs."
"As would I. Especially that one statue of you in the garden surrounded by vines." He was rewarded with a playful slap on the arm. He always knew how to turn that frown upside down.
Gremory Garden
Ylva bent over sighing with delight as she smelt a large rose, the Elf had been given a tour of the manor by Venelana and was currently in the garden which held thousands upon thousands of roses, which was the sigil of house Gremory. Being a Wood Elf, Ylva loved nature from the trees to the flowers and the birds and beasts. Being one of royalty herself the home of Rias was very impressive to Ylva yet she personally felt more trees were needed around the home.
"Is this your first time in the Underworld?" Venelana asked after Ylva finished smelling the rose.
"That's correct. My life was spent on Midgard before moving to Asgard to live as one of Lord Thor's bodyguards."
"Bodyguards?" Repeated Venelana, "I assumed this team he formed was out of friendship and representation to the Norse people."
"That is the second reason. Our primary duty as a team is to ensure the Prince of Asgard is protected from harm. He may be among the top ten but even he one as strong as Thor still needs bodyguards. Especially those he trusts."
"And calls friends and loved ones." Zeoticus' wife said with a kind smile, "I can see his love for Miss Rossweisse is strong. As is the other Valkyrie to the Einherjar from Greece."
"Sigrun and Andreas? Yes, I was a bit surprised they became a couple but I am happy for them nonetheless. I'm sure you've heard about Akeno and Havarti."
"Very much from Akeno. It warms my heart to see that she has found someone as kind and caring as Havarti. Though I must admit," She added with a chuckle, "I was not expecting it to be a Dwarf, which is not a problem. She only told us that Havarti was a sweet boy she was dating who was quite skilled with magic."
"And that he used to be a client of hers."
"Is that so? It seems my daughter needs to start catching up to her queen in the game of love."
"Are you upset she has not found a man yet?"
"Not upset, just surprised. I would have expected my daughter to be with her Pawn."
Ylva blinked, "Pawn? You mean Issei? Why do you assume so?"
The brunette beauty's shoulders slumped, "Well she was engaged to the third eldest son of the Phenex clan until her Pawn crashed the wedding and defeated Riser in a duel that canceled the marriage. Since then neither she nor Mr. Hyoudou has made any move to declare their love for one another. That boy didn't fight tooth and nail just to say he wanted my daughters virginity-"
"...what…"
"-he truly does love her. I could see it in his eyes when he fought Riser. What is holding him back from saying so?"
"That is a question you should ask him yourself, Lady Venelana."
"And what about you, Ylva dear? Have you found love yet?"
If Venelana thought her question would fluster the Elven princess she was wrong. The green haired woman shook her head, "Not yet but maybe someday I will. After I see justice is served upon Morkosvaldr and the other Dark Elves."
Venelana frowned, "You are determined to see that through aren't you?"
Ylva matched the Devil with one of her own, "I am. I am honored to serve Thor Odinson but he vowed if we encounter the Dark Elf remnants then I will be allowed to deliver justice on them."
"Is it justice you truly seek or vengeance for taking your fathers life?"
"Both." Ylva answered without hesitation, "Justice for the Boreal Kingdom. Revenge for taking my father, Thingon, and many other good soldiers who died protecting the innocent."
Venelana hummed, "Then take heart, Ylva Oalfsdottir. Do not let this simple goal drive you to be on Thor's team. There's more to life than hunting down those who took your father's life."
Ylva's shoulders slumped, "I know, Lady Gremory, I am enjoying the time in Asgard and here yet I cannot forget my goal for leaving my kingdom."
"A goal that is very noble." Venelana said, placing a comforting hand upon the young girl's shoulder, "Now come, let us not talk anymore of such gloomy things. Let us turn our thoughts to the rest of this lovely garden and then the hedge maze."
Library
In Thor's opinion, lunch with the Gremory's had been spectacular. The chiefs working in the kitchen made some of the best roast chicken he ever tasted. If he had not been taught proper manners he'd have eaten all the food there like a man who had been starved for years. The discussion about the Dark Elves had been long and serious; neither Zeoticus or Venelana interrupted Thor and his friends when explaining the Battle of Boreal and the Dark Elves led by Morkosvaldr. They were surprised and horrified to hear their daughter had nearly died in the battle, a piece of information Thor suspected Rias had not wanted them to know.
After that grim suspicion it was turned to lighter ones like life in the Nine Realms and the Underworld along with the contestants of the Rating Game, which he noticed Henreitta being the most talkative of it. It was a little underwhelming to know only six Peerages were partaking. Aside from Gremory and Sitir, the other four Peerages were Bael, Agares, Glasya-labolas, and Astaroth. Four of which were related to the current Satans and Thor encountered only three, whether the Astaroth heir had been at the gathering or not was not his concern.
When they had finished eating, Thor was led to the library to, as Rossweisse told him, to train his mind on the tactics of war and magic. He wished Rossweisse would come with him but she had other plans in mind hence leaving the God of Thunder alone in the large room. Now here he sat with piles upon piles of books on history, tactics, and magic stacked neatly around him.
"I see you are taking your studies seriously."
Thor looked up from a book written by a human named Sun Tzu to find Grayfia approached, he still couldn't get over how similar she looked to Rossweisse. Aside from the age gap, eye color, and body measurements, which Thor was certain Issei took notes on, they could be mistaken as sisters. Sister separated from birth to live among different families…an idea that sounded like a good book to ask Bragi to write someday.
"I can't become king of the Aesir if I just focus on brute strength. I need to strengthen my mind."
Grayfia nodded, 'Very wise. That strength of mind may prove helpful in your next battle."
"I hope so." Said Thor, recounting his disastrous defeat against the Dark Elves. He used tactics but It hadn't been enough to allow him to win the battle. Perhaps with these books he could improve. A long silence filled the library leaving an awkward silence that was broken when Thor asked, "I hope too I will be strong enough to use Mjolnir at last."
One gray eyebrow rose slightly, "I assumed your usage of that axe was only because Mjolnir is a super weapon that can only be used as a last resort."
"It is a super weapon if it is used like one. Mjolnir, be it real or replica, is a tool to protect. It is very powerful but against a Longinus-class Sacred Gear it will be equal in strength. At least against physical ones like the Heavenly Dragons or the True Longinus."
"If any one of those is to meet the weapon you are famous for using in battle it will obliterate landscapes if not part of the world."
Thor shuttered, If that is to happen then I hope nobody will be around to be caught in the battle.
"Excuse me, I must check on the others." Grayfia bowed and left.
Three hours later Thor shut the book he was reading and got up, he was done for today and needed to stretch after sitting for so long. Returning the books to the correct shelves he left the library to talk a stroll out on the manor. He sure was lucky for the tour otherwise he'd have gotten lost. It didn't take long for the God of Thunder to find his way outdoors were he gazed upon the great lands the Gremory family owned. Out on these grounds were his friends either relaxing or training but Thor did not wish to do either of those.
For him he wanted to ride.
Calling upon his magic reserve he used a summoning circle to call forth Tanngrisnir who was munching on a bail of hay when appearing. Thor laughed then apologized for taking his friend away from eating before patting the goats head and asking if he wished to run upon the field which Tanngrisnir nodded yes to. Thor mounted the great goat and waited for him to finish his hay before gently kicking him in the side and off he went like a bolt of lightning zooming across the land with speed so great only Slepnir could catch him. Thor howled with joy at the feel of the wind rushing past him and Tanngrisnir's hooves pounding along the grassy plain. Turning left he caught sight of a familiar silver haired maiden flying about and trading spells with someone he could not see.
I wonder who Rose is training with?
After cresting a hill he saw it was Vandill tanking spell after spell from the Valkyrie no doubt training to improve his defense trait for anything Sona's peerage will throw at him. Standing near a clump of trees were three other people watching the spar, who they were he could not see from this distance save the smallest who must either be Gasper, Koneko, or Havarti. Returning his attention to the spar he heard Vandill roar with the fury the Jotuns were known for while charging Rossweisse who simply flew higher to keep her distance. To her surprise the Jotunn-Devil jumped after her while at the same size increasing his size to reach for her. He was just in the process of swinging his hammer when Rossweisse suddenly dived past him slapping him hard on the back and shoulders in the process which caused her signature magic seal to appear.
She sealed him! Well done Rose! Thor thought proudly watching the Giant who idolized him crash to the ground with a loud scream. Seeing the battle won he commanded Tanngrisnir forward but he did not do so. The goat was looking, no, glaring, at the trio beneath the trees, his hooves pawing the dirt before giving a great roar announcing his presence before making a mad dash toward the trees.
"Tanngrisnir, stop! STOP!" Thor yelled at the goat who did not halt in his charge, neither Rossweisse or Vandill, who had been unsealed, could not stop the great goat's charge. Drawing closer to the trees the the smallest one was revealed to be Koneko, Beowulf, and a man in his mid-thirties so large he looked to be about two meters tall with spiky orange hair and hands large enough to fit an average-sized human head in their grips. It was the big man, Thor realized, that Tanngrisnir was charging towards and something about him seemed troublingly familiar. Now he was close enough to see Koneko's eyes were wide with shock at seeing the God of Thunder come charging at her atop Tanngrisnir who he realized never met any of the Gremory Peerage.
"Tanngrisnir! Stop!" He cried again before the big orange haired man stepped between Koneko and Tanngrisnir, his giant hands fully stretched out to stop the goat. Tanngrisnir slammed into the outstretched palms yet the big man did not move one bit save for the ruffling of his hair and black coat caused by the mini-shock wave upon impact. Thor was in awe at the orange haired man's display of strength, he never saw anyone be able to stop Tanngrisnir's charge. To stop Tanngrisnir dead in his tracks was an incredible feat which he did not like one bit. Steam erupted from his nostrils as he tried in vane to push the man off his feet but still he did not budge.
There was a flash of silver and Rossweisse was beside the goat hand atop his head whispering soothing words that quelled the goats blind rage.
"That's it….relax, Tanngrisnir. Relax. He's our friend."
Thor dismounted the goat and glared daggers at him, "Tanngrisnir, I'm very disappointed in you. You disobeyed me and nearly hurt a child!" Thor ignored the glare Koneko sent his way at hearing him call her a child, "I'm sending you back to your stable with no hay bails for a week. Let that be a lesson not to-"
"Lets not be too hasty, Thor." Rossweisse said gently, "He was only acting out of instinct."
"What do you mean?" Thor asked, still glaring at his pet.
"Because he has smelt me before."
Thor turned to see it was the big man who spoke, his voice was deep and his face had a guilty look upon it. Now closer Thor saw he had eerie yellow eyes, like the Fire Giants of Muspelheim. In fact the more Thor looked at him the more he saw the resemblance to the Fire Giants; bulk build, orange hair, yellow eyes.
"Who…are you?" Thor asked, unaware of the growl in his voice or the sparks around his clenching fists.
"I…" The big man said, "...am Surtr Second."
So begins the Underworld arc and ending the first chapter with Thor finally meeting the clone of the man, or rather, Fire Giant, the original Thor gave his live to defeat to protect Asgard, Surtr. Sorry for the first chapter of 2024 being so short but the next one will be longer will more interactions and potential revelations. Anyway I hope you all enjoyed this and be sure to leave your feed back on it. See you all next time.
