Daughter Of Batman 3 Chapter 2

How ironic that Bruce never wanted Danika to patrol the streets by herself and now she's doing exactly that alone.

Danika is starting to lose hope, fearing the worst.

It's been over two weeks since the confrontation down by the water and there's been no sign of Bruce in the timeframe's duration.

The longer Bruce is gone the more susceptible Danika's risks become to outside influences.

Danika doesn't know how much longer she and Alfred can keep up the charade. Both out on the streets at night and in the day to day running of Wayne Enterprises with Lucius Fox being the only other person in the company they can undoubtedly trust in the loop.

It's gotten very exhausting and leaving them even more tired each day the longer this goes on. This is ultimately going to do Danika no favors health-wise in the long run especially with her being the only one to patrol Gotham City streets with Damian out of the country and Dick otherwise preoccupied with his own territory. Danika is basically running herself ragged trying to keep everything together and not give the criminal element in Gotham City a hint of Batman's prolonged absence. Nothing Alfred says can dissuade her from the mission. Danika's anxious nerves created an inability to sit still for too long. Despite her best efforts the criminal underworld is starting to catch up and activity from them is picking up exponentially as they boldly grow in ruthless confidence in response to the inaction.

Danika's been so busy keeping the Gotham City safe in Bruce's absence that she doesn't have time to even search for him. The stress has reached such a dangerous level that Danika is even contemplating using methods above reproach to get things done.

The Moonstone.

The moral compass Bruce has set for Danika is seriously being tested.

No joke.

Soon Danika shall be unable to cope.

Bruce's powerful and strong authority and constant presence Danika made the decision easier, but with him gone and her being required to handle all this by herself is making her self-control reach its limits.

Danika acknowledges those closest to her would be disappointed, but she can't possibly fathom anything else left to do.

Maintaining a semblance of normalcy outside Wayne Manor and out of costume is beyond difficult. It's downright impossible.

Eventually something is going to finally give and not in a good way.

Acknowledging that things are getting unconscionably out of hand and before they have the chance to spin even more out of control Alfred takes it into his own hands to contact Dick. Using the emergency Bat alert to call him in.

Danika is taking some time to relax in brushing her hair before going out on another of those hazardous and tiring patrols and Alfred, at present, is currently on a scheduled call with the Wayne Enterprises board following their demands to see Bruce instead of Lucius Fox. Thanks to a specific gadget Lucius had invented the entire room of board executives believe they're talking to Bruce and not Alfred. Something he's resorted to using in the past countless other times to cover for him. It's imperative that they don't get suspicious of his careful precautions to maintain the stoic personage.

Doesn't make dealing with them any less annoying.

By the end of the call, Danika can tell she isn't the only one at her wit's end. The strain taking its toll on both of them.

"Oh dear," sighed Alfred, rubbing his eyelid tiredly and removing the modified headset, a dejected expression across his facial features.

Speaking in a British accent, Dick teased "I'd watch those 'bloody hells', Governor. Don't want to be giving yourself away."

Danika's head snaps upward, locating Dick on an upper level. Turns out he'd snuck in, the noise from the conference call covering his entrance.

Exasperatedly reproachful, Alfred said "Master Dick. It's bad manners to sneak up on a person like that."

Shrugging, Danika grinned "I don't know about that, Alfred. Sneaking up on people is what we do around here, Alfred."

Alfred aims a glare in her direction.

"She's joking, Alfred," said Dick, smiling.

Stonily, Alfred said "We are not amused."

Not intimidated in the slightest Danika just laughs. Ao chitters, forepaws crossed over his nose as he joins in.

Smile slowly fading from his face as he turns serious, Dick said "I'm not exactly in a festive mood either. How long has he been gone?"

Solemnly, Alfred reports "Two weeks, one day, 15 hours."

Crossing his arms, leaning against the rail, Dick said "Wouldn't be the first time."

"But he's never been gone this long without notifying me in some way. Last night, the signal was up for an hour. Third time this week. And if the police are aware of his absence, then you can be certain the criminal class is as well. By all accounts of what Danika has told me each time she goes out more and more criminals are becoming emboldened each time she faces them without him there beside her," said Alfred, worriedly.

That catches Dick's attention.

Concerned, talking directly to Danika, Dick said "You've been going out at night alone?"

Deciding it wiser to hold her tongue, ducking her head sheepishly, Danika simply nods.

"I'd rather she not go out at all, but there's little to no other choice. It's bad enough that no one responds to the signal. It'll be worse if it's officially confirmed he's missing," said Alfred. "There's already been a sharp uptick in underworld activities, but she can't do it alone for much longer. I've suggested contacting Master Damian, but Danika is insisting not to. She'd prefer not to interfere in her brother's training. If Batman doesn't return soon…"

"I know. All bloody hell's going to break loose," said Dick, standing in front of a display case containing one of the older Batman suits. "Even when you've disappeared, I can't get away from you." An internal battle is fought within Dick until he reaches a decision. One Dick once thought he'd never have to take up. His sullen attitude is proof of that for sure. He then turns toward Danika. "When you go out tonight…you won't be patrolling alone."

Authors Note:

For those of you on fanfiction I'm sure you've been facing the many unwanted ads when you're reading a story. Well, yesterday, I finally had enough, and I got an adblocker app. It worked! No more ads on any level! The one I got is Adblock Pro: Safari Ad Blocker. It really works. Just follow the instruction video that it attached to it.

Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of months ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.

When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in some way. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.

Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.

Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads if it is sent to you. But when it does you should definitely pressing the report abuse button and send it to the email that leads to the support staff that is available.

Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.

I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D

For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.

Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.

So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.

I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
