A/N:

Alright so I'm dropping in with this story, it was meant to be a quick little thing that has morphed beyond that. I'm mostly throwing it up just to see the response and if it's worth me continuing into something even larger. I'm sure it's not a new or novel idea...but I'm willing to work with it and have some fun.

I will also say that I have not watched any of the Trolls Series, I have only watched the movies and the specials. I do know some of the names of characters from the series and will be using them if I need to...but beyond that I will not be following those timelines etc...

I hope this is alright and I hope you guys enjoy...

Disclaimer: I do not own anything Trolls related all of their content belongs to DreamWorks and I own nothing of the franchise or series.

I will also be using the Sia Song "Rainbow" in later chapters...and I also do not own it!

I do however own my own OC's and would apricate anyone asking before they are used. Thank you!

On with the fun! X;DDD

Chapter 1: The Special One

Evening had settled over Pop Village, long dark shadows being cast by the surrounding forest. Though the village itself is abuzz with life.

From the soft lights that were hung by string that ran across the streets from tree to tree, to the multicolored pods hanging among the branches. Their colors muted in the evening shadows.

Some trolls still bustled along the streets ending their busy nights and saying goodnight to friends and family alike before they retired to their pods.

The gentle sounds of forest critters and night time music flitters across the peaceful evening back drop adding a air off gentle calmness.

One pod stood out from the rest.

Not directly at it's center, but offset enough so that it's occupants could still enjoy some peace away from the direct hub of the village.

It was larger and held an air of being more then the smaller common pods that hung from the other tree branches, a large spiral staircase lead from the ground to the branch it was attached to.

This was the royal home of the current King and Queen of the Pop Trolls.

Poppy sighed as she closed her bright pink eyes, her normal optimistic personality faltering just a hair as she sat in a rocking chair near the window.

The queen of pop's thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a soft coo from her lap bringing her attention back to the small Trolling who was currently looking up at her with bright pink eyes that mirrored her own.

She allowed a soft smile to drift across her lips as she studied the little one who was currently babbling away playing with her hands like they were the most interesting thing in the world.

Her thoughts drifted away as she sat allowing her mind to wonder to the events of the last two months.

It had been a little over three years since she and Branch had reunited the latter with his estranged family. Three years since what felt like whirl wind of family bonding and coming to terms with all that entailed, becoming a family yet again.

Two years since Branch had proposed to her on that overlook on Vacay Island at the year anniversary of BroZone's Reunion. Two years since she had said yes, and a few months afterwards she'd officially been able to call Branch and his brothers family (even if they had been family long before those vows).

So to say that was their last crazy adventure wouldn't be the full truth.

Married life had been something the couple had adapted to with ease. They were meant for each other, soul mates so after a few trials and tribulations they'd merged together as one becoming stronger and deepening their bond all the more.

Branch took to being king in stride, over prepared and cautious stride. Something Poppy loved him deeply for.

But any of those matters paled in comparison to the adventure the two of them were on now.

Something new and scary that neither were sure they were prepared for, but they were willing to meet head on together in stride.

Parenthood...

And as the normal laws of chaos that pertained to Poppy and Branch even parenthood turned out to be a challenge.

It was Branch who discovered he was the one expecting the egg that would expand their already large family. It was the news that it wasn't just one egg but two that had shocked both the royal couple and everyone involved.

The twin eggs arrived after what could be considered a normal developmental period.

When Branch had removed the two eggs from his dark hair after nearly three weeks Poppy hadn't been able to contain her excitement. Her eyes had turned to sparkles as she pressed her fingers against her cheeks a grin that Branch was pretty sure was hurting her face never leaving.

The eggs were perfect, mottled white, teal, and bright pink with white speckles across their shells. The larger of the two had a tuft of deep royal purple hair sat atop it, while the slightly smaller one's hair tuft was a bright cerulean blue (one that Poppy was quick to point out looked much like Branch's hair when his true colors came out).

The eggs were well spoiled by both of the expectant parents as well as their extended family and the other Trolls of Trollstopia.

The arrival of new Pop Royalty spread like wild fire and the hatching was an exciting time for all involved.

After an anxious month of balancing incubating the eggs and their royal duties Poppy and Branch found themselves standing in the nursery of their pod. Eagerly watching the larger of their two eggs wiggle and begin to crack as it began to hatch.

Branch had given Poppy a look of indignation when the first cracks had begun and she'd taken off like a pink blur to quickly decorate the room in varying decorations as a welcome for the babies.

She'd given him a dejected 'humph' when he'd told her absolutely no to the glitter she'd somehow pulled out of her hair and was ready to throw when the first trolling appeared.

He could do with out either of the twins finding out about the wonders of glitter until they were teenagers...or if he had it his way they never would.

His thoughts of the horrors of infants and glitter were cut off by the sound of cracking as the egg began to hatch.

He smiled proudly as Poppy leaned into him as the little Trolling poked it's way out of the cracks in the eggshell and looked around before it's eyes met it's parents.

She was perfect, chubby cheeks and glitter freckles turned into a giant toothless smile as she giggled at seeing her parents.

The little trolling's fur was a bright teal (matching Branch's family's coloring), a pink button nose, dancing pink eyes that mirrored her mothers, and a tuft of fluffy royal purple baby hair on the top of her head.

Both Poppy and Branch felt their hearts melt at the sight of their daughter as she babbled happily flailing pudgy baby arms at them to be picked up.

Poppy was more then happy to oblige her little darling as she scooped her up into her arms, cooing at how perfect she was. Leaning down to nuzzle her nose to her daughter's which elicited more happy giggles from the little girl.

Branch smiled in both wonder and pride as Poppy brought the little Trolling over to him, he was almost afraid to touch her she was so perfect. Afraid he might some how hurt his precious little girl.

Poppy had rolled her eyes affectionately at her husband before placing their daughter into his arms. Branch had clumsily gripped on to her, bringing her up so he could peer into her bright pink eyes that mirrored her mother's.

The little Trolling stared right back meeting her father's gaze, before smiling a wide toothless smile at him as she reached up to gently pat his nose.

Branch chuckled softly at his daughter, already feeling himself being wrapped around her little finger.

Poppy had won the Rock/Paper/Scissors game they'd ended up playing in order to decide who would get to pick what name for their twins.

And as the winner she'd gotten to pick the name for their first hatchling dubbing their daughter 'Piper Rosiepuff' which Branch had to agree seemed to fit the little ball of happy energy rather well.

The excitement of Piper's hatching had caused the new parents great joy, but their joy soon turned to worry as they realized the second egg seemed to have no signs of hatching.

This was worrying, all the information they'd been given or told had said that twin eggs normally hatched one right after the other since the sounds of the first egg hatching was a sign to the second that it was time.

After some time and no change it was Branch who decided to check on the egg trying to keep both his and Poppy's worries at bay.

Thankfully the egg felt fine to the touch, in fact once his hand touched the shell the egg began to wiggle excitedly as if it had been waiting for a signal.

Branch picked up the egg bringing it over to Poppy and Piper as the wiggling continued. Eventually a sharp crack was heard as the eggshell began to crack.

Piper smiled and babbled as she watched her twin begin to hatch from her mother's arms.

Branch marveled as the crack in the shell continued to expand, soon the top of the shell began to move and he noticed a tiny, curious pair of blue eyes peering up at him.

He smiled softly as he brought the egg up closer to his face, the little Trolling studying him intently as it debated leaving it's egg or not.

Finally after a bit of a staring contest the little one's head finally rose out of the egg, the shell still stuck on his head like a hat as it continued to stare at Branch.

Glitter freckles lined this little boy's cheeks like his sisters, though his fur was a soft pink much like his mother's, his nose was a deep lavender color, and his eyes were bright blue like his father's. As the eggshell finally slipped off his head fluffy head of bright sapphire hair was revealed.

He was also tiny compared to his sister, small enough that Branch was able to lift him gently one handed out his remaining eggshell before cradling the little boy against his chest.

Unlike his sister he made no noise as he looked around the room in curiosity, his eyes finally landing on his mother and sister. And it was only at that sight that he let out the softest of coo's as he tilted his head.

Poppy smiled affectionately at that as she approached her husband and son, Piper waving her arms excitedly at finally seeing her twin out of his egg. The new mother's eyes shown with love as she reached out a finger to gently rub it against her little boy's cheek causing him to scrunch up his face at the affection.

She giggled realizing the scowl the newborn possessed resembled his father's a little too well.

It was Branch's turn to announce the name he'd chosen for their son.

He smiled proudly as he looked down at the little boy in his arms.

'Reed Peppy' was what he said causing Poppy to beam happily at his choice.

The new family couldn't be happier as Branch and Poppy snuggled together allowing their children to cuddle between them. It seemed like everything was perfect.

But everyone knows what happens when everything seems too good to be true.

The news of the hatching had spread across the village, and while the new parents wanted to show off their new children they also knew that a bonding period was needed. Plus rest for everyone as well it had been a stressful event and all anyone wanted was peace and quiet.

And that was just what was wrong at the moment, it had been only a few hours since the twins had hatched and already there was a big difference in the personalities of the children.

Piper had come out of her egg already acting like her mother, a never exhausted ball of energy. The little trolling hadn't stopped giggling, wiggling, or smiling since she'd hatched.

Even Poppy seemed fascinated with her energy, something that amused Branch to no end. It reminded him of her first time meeting her sister and realizing what she herself was like to others.

But it wasn't Piper who was concerning her parents, no it was little Reed. At first they thought perhaps he was just tired the excursion of hatching causing him to be fatigued.

But it was quickly becoming apparent that something else was going on with the trolling.

He was quiet, unusually quiet for a new born. Sure Pop Trolls were happy things, even right after hatching. But even as infants it was normal for them to cry, or coo, or giggle.

But the little one had done barely any of the above, he'd just been sitting observing everything around him, even noises seemed to get no reaction from him.

He only really reacted when someone got near him or touched him.

Both Poppy and Branch were rapidly becoming concerned with their little one's behavior, Branch in specific.

He'd started digging through the books on Trolling Development he'd collected over the last two months skimming through the pages to see if he could find anything of use to why his son seemed to be acting this way.

Poppy was just trying to calm him down, as normal trying to ground him and calm the ensuing panic attack she was sure was on the horizon.

As if on que the answer to their problems arrived on their doorstep, a knock at the door signaled the arrival of a guest. Both parents let out relieved sighs as Branch went to answer the door.

A few minutes later he returned with both Dr. Plum in tow as well as Poppy's father.

Poppy's eyes lit up with delight at seeing her father as she ran to him and wrapped him in a hug, they'd known he'd be one of the first and only visitors they'd be taking in these first few hours.

Same with Dr. Plum since it was procedure for any new hatchling to get a full check over soon after hatching.

Peppy and Poppy talked as Branch brought the twins over to Dr. Plum, who smiled brightly at seeing the twins. She gently took Piper from her father's arms to examine her.

The exam was quick, a clean bill of health for the little princess who seemed to love the extra attention. She giggled as Dr. Plum handed her bath to Poppy who was more then eager to introduce her daughter to her father.

Peppy's eyes filled with tears as he took his granddaughter into his arms, her giggles as she reached out her hands towards his mustache causing both he and Poppy to laugh gently at her.

Branch's eyes filled with concern as he looked down at Reed who was quietly watching all that was going on, again making no signs to interact with anyone. He quickly filled in Dr. Plum on he and Poppy's concerns.

The purple doctor's eyebrows furrowed as the king explained what he and his wife had noticed with their son. She looked the little trolling over, he looked healthy but she took could tell something wasn't quite right just by the quiet attitude of the baby.

The exam for Reed took longer, Poppy who'd been happily watching her father and daughter's meeting had seemed to pick up on Dr. Plum's change in attitude as she continued to examine her little boy. She glanced over at Branch who also seemed to be getting nervous as the doctor continued to examine their son.

Finally after several minutes of intense examining Dr. Plum let out a sigh, the look on her face not good as she handed Reed back to his father. She glanced over at Peppy, who'd also caught on to the somber change in the room.

As if getting a silent cue he sighed before looking down at Piper before looking at both Poppy and Branch asking if it was alright that he took the little one out into the living room. To which they agreed.

Once he was out of the room Dr. Plum looked down at little Reed a look of sympathy crossing her face as she sighed.

The next words out of her mouth caused the wind to be knocked out of both of the new parents.

While the little prince's physical exam seemed fine, it was when she'd gone to examine his ears that she'd picked up on the abnormalities.

Without the specialized equipment she had back at her office she couldn't tell the actual severity but just by what she knew she was fairly certain the little trolling was either partially or totally deaf in both ears.

It explained why he'd been so quiet, why he wasn't responding when anyone spoke or called to him, probably even why it had taken Branch's touch to get the little one to hatch. His world was silent.

Poppy felt her extreme optimism vanish as she looked from the doctor to her son. A deaf Pop Troll...what did that mean? Music was their life their very souls...what was he going to do if he could never hear?

Never minding the fact that he was royalty...what was the Prince of the Pop Trolls supposed to do if he'd never be able to hear?

Her thoughts swirled in her head as she felt herself sway slightly her brain overloaded with questions.

But it was the next voice that caused all of her other thoughts to step dead in their tracks.

It was Branch's voice who cracked as he spoke, asking Dr. Plum if this was because of him. If it could have been caused due to him being gray for so long.

And at that Poppy was fairly certain her heart break as she saw the sadness wash over her husband at the thought. His ears drooping and she could see his coloring start to darken more.

And we have chapter one! I know it was very light on dialogue...but I have sat trying to get this typed and every time I tried it the longer way it was super long...could probably be it's own full blown story. Which I might do if this gets enough attention...

Anyways...that's where this is all going...I promise I'll try to get the next chapter out as soon possible. I had intended for this to be a two chaptered story and I actually have the ending typed. But after working on it...I thought dividing it where I did made more sense. So this may end up being 2-3 chapters or possibly longer depending on where I take the next part.

I hope you guys enjoy...and even if this doesn't go anywhere...I'm already in love with the ideas I have for Piper and Reed so I'll probably just end up keeping them around as OC's for other things in the future.

Hope you enjoy! I'd love to hear you're feedback! Knowing anyone gets enjoyment out of my hard work makes my day!

Please read, enjoy, review, and do all the nice things you do for these sorts of things! Thank you so much!
