Afterglow

Chapter 32

It had been six months exactly since Blaine and Blake were born. During this time. We've had a front row seat to witnessing their personalities shine through and they reached milestones at different times yet it has been so incredible and humbling to watch and be apart of.

Blake is the first one up. While Blaine likes to sleep later.

They were starting to talk now and move around.

I've had to baby proof various areas of the house.

They want their mom once their up for good but the three of us get some play time in and we read together. Do tummy time.

Going back to work is something i've been looking forward too. Lucas thought to himself.

Brooke wiped her eyes. As she looked to her boys. Who were happily playing in the living room. Toys everywhere. A playpen big enough for two. Along with two baby swings. Close by.

She simply threw on her outfit for work. How she was feeling now. She didn't care about the structure and routine of her job like she once had.

"My grandsons are going to get the best possible spoiling and care from their grandma Karen. I assure you that." Karen reassured the new mom.

"I'll check in with you. At my lunch break." Brooke replied.

"Be good for grandma Karen boys." Lucas said. Kissing their foreheads.

"Da Da." They replied. Laughing.

"The schedule is laid out very simple. If you have questions or they need anything just call me." Brooke said.

"That won't be needed. But i have you're numbers memorized." Karen replied.

"Mom knows what she's doing. You have no reason to worry." Lucas said.

"I guess." Brooke said. Swallowing hard. As she made her way towards the front door.

"Being back to work will be an adjustment for her."

"We truly love and appreciate you for changing you're schedule with the cafe in order to make this work." Lucas stated matter of fact.

"It's the highlight of my day being able to bond and spend time with the grandsons i thought i would never have." Karen replied.

When Lucas got back to the office. He had expected to see Jimmy there. So they could go over Lucas's newest rough draft for a new novel yet. He was only left with a message from his receptionist that explained that Jimmy had dropped him as a client.

Lucas knew Jimmy hadn't been supportive of him extending his time off but this wasn't what he saw coming at all.

He spend the next couple hours making calls and no one wanted to work with only that but his books were going down in rank.

Clothes over bros

"Blaine. Blake. Momma misses you so much." Brooke said. Looking into her video chat camera.

"Ma. Ma!" They exclaimed. Touching the camera with their hands.

It had been weighing on Brooke for months now. The idea of being back at her store. More time here then at home.

And she was feeling the sadness and guilt of missing things with the boys and she had just gotten back.

The joy she felt for her career was starting to lessen.

She was beginning to wonder if where she belonged now was at home full time with her sons?
