Afterglow
Chapter 36
It had been weeks since Lucas and I reconnected. And it had been the push we needed to get out of that place of pause and fear.
I saw myself through his eyes. His love. The way he guarded me and let me give myself freely. I thought i wouldn't be able to find that part of myself again and i did with him.
I felt it the minute our love making had ended. Something inside of shifted. And came alive.
I hadn't felt the need to use any birth control at all. And we used no kind of protection.
That all consuming green light that there was life growing within me again was something i didn't question. My symptoms were different this time. Once i took a pregnant test. I breathed a sighed of relief.
I raced downstairs to Lucas. He was in his home office.
I handed him a baby makes 5 onesie i had created myself.
He laughed. Smiled. Picked me up as he hugged me tightly and kissed me gently.
"They say good luck comes in threes. I think baby number 3 is a sign that there is bettter peaceful happiness ahead for our family." Brooke said.
Lucas placed his hand on her stomach.
"I cannot wait to see you pregnant and glowing again. Something about you carrying our babies. It does something to me Mrs. Scott." Lucas said.
Brooke sat on his lap. Cupping his face with her hands.
"I think a Scott girl is on the way." Brooke announced.
"Don't tease. My heart would melt." Lucas replied.
"If this baby is a girl. Penelope Karen Scott."
"We can call her Penny for short." Lucas proclaimed.
Brooke decided to get a blood test to find out the gender this time.
She didn't have the patience to wait until further into the pregnancy.
And they had been right. They were having a daughter.
