Cupid seethed for the hundredth millionth time that day after another day of work at the fairy godparents' complaint department, having had to listen to fairies whine about their problems and drink the mediocre sludge that passed for coffee.
Cupid missed his old job as the fairy of love, so what if he messed with the love lives of a hundred million fairy godkids or sent the brats and their fairy godparents on his errands that he disguised as a scavenger hunt at his parties?
Honestly, Jorgen was throwing the whole thing out of proportion.
It was ridiculously unfair that Cupid of all fairies was doing minimum wage, Cupid thought while flying into his new 'home' a dingy one-room shack that Jorgen forced him to live in after giving his job to Binky
Really, Binky Mr. Caused the black plague Binky got his job. Cupid seethed as he threw a dart at a picture of Danny Phantom and Penny Proud hanging off his dartboard.
This was all their fault, and now they would get married and have their happily ever after.
It wasn't fair that they got to be happy while Cupid had to suffer
If only someone could ruin their big day.
"Wait for a second; I could be that someone," Cupid said with an evil grin, vowing revenge as he got an evil idea proofing down to earth.
Danny was standing outside the Nasty Burger looking at the statue of the Steel Spector, aka his best friend Tucker Foley, reading the inscription
"On this spot, the Steel Spector saved the customers of the Nasty Burger from Cree Lincoln nearly at the cost of his own."
Danny smiled before heading into the Nasty Burger. He headed towards the usual booth that Sam and Tucker used to sit at throughout high school and some time in college.
The restaurant was empty save for him, Sam Tuc,ker, and one employee since Tucker rented the whole restaurant for the night. "Took you long enough."
"Sorry, I got distracted looking at the statue outside of a Boba Fett cosplayer who decided to become a superhero," Danny quipped with a grin
"I still wonder how they never tried to sue you for copyright infringement," Sam said across from the booth
"Me neither, honestly," Tucker admitted. "Probably thought they'd look bad suing a superhero." Before he Sam and Danny, all laughed and ate some food
It almost felt like the old days back in high school, but they weren't. They were grown up. Sam was an environmental consultant; instead of protesting or conning football players into supporting her ideas, she got paid by companies to tell them how to decrease their carbon footprints."
Tucker worked at Stark Industries as Tony Stark's partner and eventual successor.
"So, a toast to Danny, the last member of Team Phantom to finally tie the knot," Sam joked. "Officially, you and Penny have acted like a married couple since senior year."
"I know, I know, I've heard the better late than never jokes enough from my family," Danny replied with a grin. "Tomorrow night, Penny and I are finally getting married."
"Married life's great, man," Tucker said, looking at his wedding ring and thinking of his wife Velma, who worked for the FBI in their New York office.
"Agreed," Sam added smiling, probably thinking of her husband, Tommy Pickles, whom she'd met while studying in Drusselstein and whom Danny met on his blind date with Angelica
Danny smiled, thinking about Penny. He looked around nostalgically, thinking back on all the things that were the same and what was different since he walked into the ghost portal
He had his dream job working at NASA. His parent's company had changed from ghost hunting to ghost security since they knew not all ghosts were evil.
He had thirty new cousins thanks to his old cheesehead arch-enemy. He was an uncle who had made some amazing friends from all over the world.
Monsters and aliens weren't hiding anymore and were living in mostly harmony with people
But the biggest difference was that he'd fallen in love with an amazing woman who he was going to marry tomorrow
"I want to thank you, guys," Danny said, holding up his cup, "for everything, all the times you've saved my butt or stuck by me even when I was a j*** I couldn't ask for two better best friends or best men to stand by my side tomorrow."
"You've done the same for us," Tucker pointed out at their weddings. Danny had been Tucker's best man and Sam's man of honor
"Because we're friends, and we're going to stay your friends," Sam agreed, "to tomorrow."
"To tomorrow," they all said, tapping their cups together before drinking.
Tomorrow was going to be great.
Finally, the big day was here. Humans, monsters, and aliens were gathering at Wizard Kelly's hotel and casino for what was going to be the wedding of the century, the day Danny married his girlfriend of ten years, Penny Proud.
One of the wedding guests, Kara Kent-Hawkins, was walking to her seat on her husband's arm, Virgil Hawkins. The two were looking around at all the people gathered and socializing. "I didn't know Danny and Penny knew this many people,"
"Yeah," Virgil agreed, spotting Kim Tennyson talking with Barbara Young, née Gordan, her husband Sam standing by. "Wonder how many people are in the life."
Kara couldn't honestly answer that there were so many people, and unlike Danny, Ben, and Kim, most superheroes in their generation had a higher success rate in keeping their secret identities secret
"Kara, is that you?" Kara heard a familiar voice, turning to see Spectra Parker, top reporter for the Daily Bugle, float over to her
"Spectra, this is a surprise," Kara said, hugging the ghost woman before shaking hands with her husband, Peter Parker 'one person whom Danny's jealous of was able to keep his secret identity a secret' Kara said, shaking hands with Spiderman
"So, are you here for business or pleasure?" Spectra asked
"Pleasure, I'm a friend of the groom," Kara answered. "I briefly interviewed the bride and groom before the ceremony. What about you, Spectra?"
"Same today. I'm just here to celebrate Danny and Penny's hauntingly sweet love," Spectra said
"If everyone could take their seats, " an usher said, "the ceremony will begin shortly."
Kara and Virgil nodded, saying their goodbyes to Spectra and Peter before taking their seats. Kara was briefly surprised to find herself sitting next to a tiger, even more surprised when he turned out to be telepathic. "Hello, lovely day for a wedding, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is," Kara agreed as the music began.
Danny came walking down the aisle flanked by his best friends Sam and Tucker. The groom gave them a brief hug before he stood up and walked to the dais.
Next came the bridesmaids and the bridal march. Everyone turned to see the bride as she entered the room on her father's arm, wearing a strapless wedding gown, a bodice lined with dark red crystals, a flared skirt, and a long train.
'Oh Rau, she's gorgeous,' Kara thought, having learned from her interview with Penny that the gown was a wedding gift from French designer Marinette Dupain Cheng. She and her husband, Adrien Dupain Cheng, were Danny's work friends and were at the wedding.
Finally, Penny made it to the end of the aisle. Her father lifted her veil, kissing her on the cheek before he went to sit with his wife. The man looked ready to cry tears in the corners of his eyes, ready to fall.
"Please be seated," the minister said as everyone sat back down.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony. If anyone has a reason why these two should not be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace."
A blue portal opened in the middle of the aisle at that moment. Danny held back a groan. 'Seriously, multiverse stuff now,' he thought, ready to go ghost and be ready to kick the butt of whoever decided to cause trouble now.
Stepping out of the portal was
A kitten
Danny blinked. It wasn't a ghost kitten, it wasn't an alien kitten, it wasn't a mutated kitten that wanted to take over the world. Nope, it was just a kitten playing with a Chronosapian compass.
"Okay, I didn't see that coming," Tucker said, surprised by the adorable sight
A sight that became more adorable when a little girl, she couldn't be more than four with blonde hair and Danny's green eyes, came out of the portal after the kitten. "Chester, silly kitty, you can't play with that," the little girl said, grabbing the compass from the kitten.
The kitten mewled adorably before looking at the little girl with big eyes. "No, Chester, Daddy says no playing with the chrobosopien combos,"
"I think you mean Chronosapian compass," Buzz corrected before his wife, Gwen, elbowed him.
"She's four years old. Cut her some slack," she told her husband.
Before anyone could talk to the little girl and help her go home, a Siberian tiger hound ran out of the portal, knocked the girl over, and began licking her face.
"No Harold, no kisses," she laughed adorably as another version of Danny came out of the portal. He looked around, embarrassed. "uh, hi, sorry to cut in," he said to Danny. "I forgot to lock the compass up the last time we visited family," he said sheepishly before picking up the girl.
"Cynthia Joan Fenton, you know you're not allowed to leave our universe without me or Mom."
"But daddy, I had to get Chester before he got lost in the maltiverb," she said, looking at the kitten
"It was the kitten who came through first," Penny said, looking at the kitten. Danny's doppelgänger looked at the kitten and nodded the kitten; Chester, meanwhile, wasn't paying attention, cleaning himself with his tongue. Danny grabbed the kitten, handing it to his daughter, still in his arms.
Before again looking apologetic, "Again, really sorry, my wife's going to have a good time laughing about this when I tell her," he said, "Come on, Harold."
The dog barked, heading for the portal.
"So she's a Bunnicula fan?" Danny asked his doppelgänger who nodded
"Yeah, she loves the books. Says was sad when I told her she couldn't have a vampire bunny because they weren't real," he said before he, the little girl, the puppy, and the kitten went back through the portal to their universe.
"As I was saying before the adorable interruption, if anyone has an objection to this couple marrying, speak now or forever hold your peace," the minister said, not expecting anyone actually to object.
"I object," a familiar voice shouted from the end of the aisle
"You've got to be kidding me," the groom Sam and Tucker grumbled when they turned to see Paulina Sanchez wearing an exact copy of Penny's wedding dress, though it was tighter on her body
"Don't worry, my love, I'm here to save you from the witch's spell. I have the god of love on my side," Paulina declared arrogantly
"What the heck is she talking about?" Sam asked
"I have no idea."
"Save it, witch," Paulina said, marching arrogantly down the aisle as if she owned the place before getting up in Sam's face. "I know you used your goth witch powers to make my true love fall in love with her instead of me," she accused, pointing a finger in Sam's face. "after all, you couldn't use your magic on yourself because your evil mutie powers" she continued ignoring the gasps from the guests at the anti-mutant slur being used.
On the one hand, Danny wanted to call security and have them deal with Paulina for violating the restraining order, but why waste the time when Sam was going to deal with the once most popular girl in school?
"Okay, one, I'm not a mutant. That's just something Donovan Loadman made up when I wouldn't just stand there and let him hit me until I said yes to marrying him," Sam retorted, making Danny angry again, being reminded of the creep who tried to hit his friend.
"Two, I'm not a witch," Sam pointed out.
"Of course you are. Why else would you and your loser goth kind of dress like that?" Paulina said dismissively. "it's so the normal people can know you're witches."
"Should we call the hospital or the morgue?" Tucker whispered to Danny, "Cause Sam looks ready to let loose the eternal flame on Paulina."
"Three, if I did put a love spell on Danny, which I didn't because of how creepy and immoral that is, why would I make him love Penny instead of me?"
"Obviously, you can't use your freaky goth magic to do something for yourself. I mean, look at how you dress," Paulina said. "I know because the god of love came to me and told me all about it; he gave me this magic arrow to break your curse so I can be with my one true love."
Danny recognized that arrow, and he knew exactly where it came from. Going ghost, he snapped the arrow in half before he destroyed it, turning it to ashes. He grabbed Paulina by the elbow, speeding her over to waiting police officers.
"Officers, this woman is violating my restraining order against her. Take her away," Danny ordered coldly.
"She can also expect a call from my lawyer for copyright theft," Marinette added. "that's my design, and I did not sell it to you."
"But ghost boy, we're true loves. This is supposed to be our wedding day," Paulina pleaded. "the god of love told me so,"
"No, it isn't Paulina. I haven't thought of you once since you got kicked out of Casper High by trying to become Juliet in the play and having someone legally ordained so he can marry us," Danny answered her coldly, "as for your god, of love."
Danny zipped off. Everyone in the wedding hall could hear the sounds of someone getting knocked around senseless before Danny zipped back in, leaving a frozen Cupid by Wulf. "he's a creep who's going to be stuck in the South Pole,"
Wulf nodded, making a portal to the South Pole and kicking the frozen Cupid into it. " bona liberiĝo."
"It's been ten years, Paulina, and you're still acting like you're in high school," Danny said, wanting to kick himself in the rear for ever liking her in freshman year. "I'd say grow up, but I don't think you know how to at this point."
"But ghost boy, we're meant to be."
"My name is Danny," he said, turning back to Penny, standing beside her.
They could hear Paulina wailing at how unfair this was and how they couldn't do this to her because she was beautiful and popular and was supposed to be Mrs. Phantom.
She couldn't even remember Danny's last name, and she expected her to marry him unbelievable,
"Please start over," Danny said to the minister.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join these two in holy matrimony. Are there any objections?"
As if to answer everyone with ghost powers, ghost sense went off
"I am the box ghost," the box ghost said, "and I have come to." the box ghost stopped when he saw everyone pointing ghost weapons at him had transformed into their ghost form or were looking ready to rip someone to shreds
"SIT DOWN!" everyone yelled.
"The box ghost will sit down now, and he will be quiet," the box ghost said in fear before quietly sitting down.
"Maybe skip that line," Penny asked, "or we'll be here all day."
"Good idea. Do you, Danny Fenton, take this woman as your lawfully wedded wife."
Danny nodded. "I do"
"And do you, Penny, take this man as your lawfully wedded husband?"
Penny nodded. "I do"
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride."
"Finally," Danny said, lifting Penny's veil. He brought her into his arms and kissed her. Penny wrapped his arms around his wife's waist and new husband's shoulders, holding each other close.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please introduce Mr. and Mrs. Danny Fento.
The reception was in full swing as everyone ate, danced, and happily celebrated. One guest was Josephine 'Josie' Fenton, who had been invited along with the rest of the Legends.
There were probably so many time travel rules being broken by her being here at her parent's wedding years before she and her brother would even be born while calling herself Jo so that her dad wouldn't know who she was from the future.
"I thought all these years, Mom and Dad were exaggerating how crazy their wedding was," she muttered, sipping her drink. At the same time, her many aunts and uncles, various superheroes in their civilian identities, walked around much younger than Josie was used to seeing them.
And in some cases, they weren't around as her great-grandmother watched her
Jo curiously walked over to her. "hi," she said nervously
"Hello," Suga mama said. "Are you having a good time?"
"I have thought it's pretty strange to be here. Everything is, uh, very retro," Jo said, trying to come up with what sounded like a passable excuse,
Suga's mama laughed. "seeing your parents getting married in person must be strange," she said. Jos's eyes widened in shock. "how'd you know?"
"My grandson-in-law might not have connected the dots, but I know a Proud when I see one," she said. "Don't worry, your secrets are safe with me."
Jo laughed. "the stories don't do you justice, Suga Mama," she said, hugging her great grandma for the first time in her laugh.
Meanwhile, on the dance floor, Danny and Penny were happily slow dancing in circles, standing close together. They were about to kiss when they bumped into another couple. "oh, sorry." Danny looked away from Penny, seeing Dani dancing with a guy who was looking at him nervously
He looked to be Dani's age, about a couple of inches taller than her, with dark skin, curly black hair, and brown eyes in a nice suit.
"Uh, hi."
"Hi," Danny said, "you must be Dani's secret boyfriend."
"Uh no, yes I am, but we're not trying to keep it secret, just uh trying to avoid the publicity, I mean," the poor guy nervously stammered. Penny elbowed Danny. "you're scaring him," she whispered
"I'm not trying to," Danny said
Dani sighed, kissing the guy on the cheek, which stopped him from acting nervous. "Danny Penny, this is my boyfriend, Donny Renton."
Danny's eyes widened. "Donny Renton," he said, trying not to laugh at the irony.
The whole time they were dating, Penny's dad had called him Donny Renton, thinking that was his name, no matter how many times Penny corrected him and said they weren't dating.
Who knew there was someone with that name, and he ironically was dating Dani?
Danny coughed, holding out his hand. "it's nice to meet you, Donny,"
"You too, sir," Donny said. "congratulations on your wedding, though not the parts with the crazy stalker. I mean the wedding part."
Dani rolled her eyes before she kissed him. "he gets what you mean, babe. Come on, let's go before you run into another member of my family."
"Kind of easy to do since we're all here," Danny said, looking around at his various cousins and their significant others, some people from Amity Park and some from other places.
Some had gotten the Fenton luck and met their perfect match on some crazy adventure like Nick, who'd spent months fighting in the hundred-year war before he rescued his wife, Joan Fenton, more famously known in the history books as Joan of Arc.
Or Jack Fenton, the second, who, on his first day with the NYPD, ended up helping his wife, Alexis Fenton née Castle, catch a dangerous criminal
Then there was Andros, who'd met his wife Skiara Tal when he spent a month on Thanagar for his first mission as a green lantern, or Brutus, who met his wife Emira in another dimension called the Demon Realm.
Either way, no matter what, every one of his cousins had found someone who loved them for who they were, not because of Danny or his sometimes annoying fan 'or very annoying in Paulina's case.'
"Yeah, I know we saw Stuart and Cassie making out earlier, and I gotta say yuck," Dani said, pretending to be grossed out, "though now I know how they do it."
"I mean, it was kinda obvious she's the daughter of an Antman. She has shrinking technology," Penny pointed out.
"Really, I just figured he used his powers to grow," Danny thought aloud, knowing his cousin had that power, though he said it tired him out, and he couldn't do it very long.
"Either way, we're going to leave you two lovebirds alone," Dani said
"Right, it was nice to meet you," Donny said, though he was busy looking at Dani as they walked off instead of making eye contact with him
"He was really nervous," Danny said.
"I know Dani mentioned how shy he was and how nervous he was to meet you. He probably was worried he'd be getting a shovel talk from you and the rest of Dani's brothers."
Okay, when you put it like that, Danny would be nervous too, though right now he wanted to focus on something other than Dani's boyfriend, like his beautiful bride standing next to him.
"Have I told you how beautiful you look in that dress?"
"Many times, my love," Penny said, "as many as I told you how wonderful you look in that suit."
Danny nodded, the two sharing a quick kiss.
After cutting the cake and Penny tossing the bouquet, it landed with Zoey, who was blushing as she looked at her date, whose name Danny had forgotten the two were getting ready for their honeymoon.
Thankfully, they didn't have to go far since Wizard Kelly also included the honeymoon sweet free of charge at the door. Danny picked up Penny bridal style, carrying her across the threshold. "I love you, Penny."
"I love you too, Danny," Penny said. In his arms, Danny leaned down, kissing his wife.
Danny didn't know what the future would bring, but he could handle it as long as Penny would be by his side.
Deadpool and PFN watch on the viewing globe, wiping tears from their eyes. "This was so beautiful…" they both said.
"Oh my god, this is the best wedding I have ever seen in my life. Include the one with Kim and Danny. Chester a Bum said.
"It could have used a little bit more action…" A figure appeared beside them, wearing a black robe and holding a scythe.
"Grim! How are you doing, buddy?" Deadpool said with a grin.
"I'm doing fantastic after you save me from those two little brats that almost had me for eternity…" Grim answered.
"Wait, how do you say Grim from Billy and Mandie?" PFN asked.
"I won his freedom in the high state poker game…" Deadpool answered. "You should have seen Mandy, and she was not happy…"
"How did you keep those two to force you back into servitude?" PFN asked.
"I banished into the shadow realm…" Deadpool said.
"You played a shadow game?!" PFN was shocked to hear that.
"Yep! Those two brats will never bother anyone ever again. Plus, I made a deal with Grim to never kill me from the universes where I don't have my powers…" Deadpool explained.
"Okay , what is he doing here?" PFN asked
"Well, I'm going to show up in the next chapter because it's the end of the line for the grandmother of the Prouds…" Grim answered.
"Oh right," PFN said sadly.
"I understand that you don't like that this will happen, but it will happen. I'm sorry about your loss of your mother and grandmother in real life…" Grim told him.
"Thanks Grim…" PFN said.
"Also, because of my freedom from those brats, Deadpool upgraded my scythe to travel the multiverse. I ended up a guy with a big nose that will put Billy to shame, a crazy supervillain that was trying to bring his wife back to life, and a horse with human hands that drowned in the pool…" Grim said.
"You to Gaberel Agreste from Miraculous Ladybug and Chat Noir, Scratch aka Todd from The Ghost and Molly McGee, and Bojack Horseman…" PFN said.
I thought Bojack survived and was doing his sentence in prison?" Deadpool needed clarification as to why Bojack was included.
Well, in that universe, he died and never went to prison…" Grim explained.
"Oh, that's a bummer. I mean, Bojack wasn't a good horse person, but it sucked that his life ended by drowning…" PFN said.
"Yeah, anyway, I have to be in the next chapter. See you later, Deadpool and PFN. Hahahaha!" Grim laughed as he left.
"Alright, I'll see you guys next time. PFN Signing out
