Yu-gi-oh/RWBY Chapter 22
The Freed Dragon
Blake hit her hand against the ground, unable to hold back her anger. "I'm gonna kill them. I'm gonna kill every last Dark Signer I can find!" "Blake, I feel the same way, but you're not thinking clearly right now." Yang said. "You shut up! You weren't here, you don't get to tell me how to feel about my home!" Blake got up and ran towards her duel runner. "Just try and stop me." She rode off like lightning, leaving Ruby and Yang in the dust.
...
Whitley looked at his hand, then at his opponent. Nothing seemed good. Nonetheless, he had to press on for Weiss. "I draw! I summon White Pawn in defense position." (Level 1/100). "I set one card and end my turn." My set card is White Pawn's Passing. If he destroys my White Pawn, not only will I get a second one, but his monster will be destroyed.
"I draw!" Tyrian gives a strange, sadistic look at Whitley. "Time to play. I summon Mind-Number Scorpion!" A giant purple scorpion with a spiral pattern on its stinger crawls out of the ground (Level 4/800). "Once per turn, by discarding a card, I can take control of your monster, but its battle position can't be changed." The scorpion crawls over and stings the White Pawn, causing the pawn to glow with a purple aura and float over to Tyrian's side of the field. Damn it, Whitley thought. Now my spell is useless.
"Mind-Number Scorpion, attack him directly!" The scorpion stings Whitley this time (Whitley 4000-3200). A strange feeling overtook Whitley, making him feel nauseous. "Oh, did I forget to tell you? This is a shadow duel. You'll really feel the sting of your defeat!" Tyrian taunted with a giggle.
...
Weiss was floating in a black void, the only source of light the large white gate in front of her. Several chains barred the handles, and the door was constantly being banged on by something inside. "Okay, so I just have to say your name, and you'll be free to help us, right?" Weiss said as though that made it easier. She floated closer to the gate. "Could you do me a favor and tell me your name?"
Silence followed. "Right. Of course not. It can't be that easy." Weiss paced in the air, trying to think of something. "Maybe I can just give you a new name and use that to set you free. Come on out, Steve!" She pointed dramatically at the gate, and nothing happened. "Yeah, that sounded stupid when I said it out loud too." Weiss sat down, trying to hide her embarrassment. "I hope my brother is having a better time than I am."
...
Whitley drew his card with some effort. He was having a hard time standing up. "I summon White Knight!" (Level 3/1700). "White Knight, destroy Mind-Number Scorpion!" The knight-statue floated forward and crushed the scorpion. Tyrian didn't flinch from the attack (Tyrian 4000-3100). "How do you like that? I end my turn."
"I draw! I'll tribute your pawn to bring out my Mother Scorpion!" The pawn fades away, and a larger scorpion appears (Level 5/1900). "Mother Scorpion, attack White Knight!" The scorpion wraps its tail around the statue and crushes it (Whitley 3200-3000). "When Mother Scorpion destroys your monster, I can summon a scorpion token!" The scorpion lays an egg, which hatches into a smaller spider (Level 1/200). Whitley acts fast. "I activate my face-down, White Pawn's Passing! When my White Pawn or a monster that mentions it is destroyed, I can summon another pawn that will destroy your monster!" Another pawn appears (Level 1/100) and crushes the bigger scorpion. "I'll then use the effect of my Dark-Tuner, Poison Scorpion! When either of our monsters is destroyed, I can summon it from my hand by paying 500 life points!" (Tyrian 3100-2600) A large, spindly scorpion with a sickly green liquid dripping from its claws, tail, and pincers appears (Level 8/0).
Oh no! Whitley worries. "Time for the darkness to appear! I Dark-tune my level 8 Poison Scorpion into my level 1 Scorpion token! Ruler of poison and fear, descend now and make your enemies rot and decay! Dark-synchro Summon! Appear, Zeman the Scorpion King!" A huge man-scorpion hybrid appears, holding a spear in one of his claws (Level -7/2500). "I end my turn. Go ahead, try and stop my monster with your little game pieces." Tyrian laughed again as Whitley looked at Zeman with fear.
...
Weiss tried to get a look through the cracks of the gate as the dragon banged on it, but there was some light on the other side that prevented her from seeing any details. "Ugh, nothing's working." She turned away, needing to rest her eyes. "I get it. I'm just supposed to remember your name. Well, that's not as easy as she made it sound! I've tried so hard to forget that time, because everyone convinced me it was just my imagination running away with me. 'That's not how a lady acts.' 'It's time you grew up and faced reality.' 'Think of how your actions reflect on the family name.'" Weiss imitated her father's gruff voice, remembering all the times he shut her down.
"It wasn't easy, having everyone either dismissing you or calling you crazy for something beyond your control. So, I convinced myself that I really did just dream that visit up. Who wouldn't?" Weiss turned back to the gate. "It's thanks to you I had to see 7 different therapists and be bullied at school! Where were you then?" She kicks the gate out of frustration. "The visit itself was nice, I guess. I saw all the spirits there, made more friends in a day than I ever had in years of school. I can even remember what you looked like, but not your name." Weiss groaned, hating herself for remembering everything but that. "Why can't I remember?"
...
Whitley didn't like the look of Tyrian's new monster at all. "Unfortunately, since it's my second main phase, I can't have any fun with Zeman just yet, so I'll set two cards and end my turn." Tyrian explained. Whitley drew his next card. I better stay on the defensive for now until I can make a comeback. "I set one card and end my turn."
"I draw! I activate the field spell Scorpion's Den!" A large cave appears around the two of them. "Now, if my insect-type monster inflicts damage to you, you'll take 100 damage for every insect in my graveyard. I then equip my Zeman with Scorpion's Whip!" Zeman gains a whip which he tests out. "Now Zeman deals piercing battle damage if it attacks a defense position monster. Zeman, attack his pawn with Cursed Flare!" Zeman pulls his whip back and throws it at the pawn. "And when Zeman attacks, you can't activate any spells or traps." The pawn is shattered, and the whip hits Whitley (Whitley 3000-600).
"It gets worse. Now you take 100 damage for every insect in my graveyard!" Scorpions crawl out of the ground and sting Whitley's feet, leaving him to cry out in pain (Whitley 600-200). "I'll leave you to wallow in your misery for now. I end my turn." Whitley fell to the ground, unable to handle the stings. "Oh? Are you finally realizing that you're in over your head? Tell you what, if you give up now, I'll finish you off quickly and painlessly. Maybe." The look on Tyrian's face suggested that was a lie. Whitley attempted to get up, but the pain hurt too much. Weiss, I'm sorry. I failed. He falls unconscious.
...
Weiss felt a stinging in her heart. "Whitley!" She gets up in a hurry and paces. "He's in danger, I just know it. I need to think fast." Weiss searches through her memories as best she can, trying to find when she first heard the name of her dragon. After a few seconds, however, still nothing. "Argh, Whitley's life is on the line! Give me something!" The banging on the door increases in frequency, and Weiss realizes the gaps when the door is open are getting bigger. She flies closer and tries to get her hands on the door ends so she can get a look in. The light starts to burn her, but she ignores the pain to look in. What she sees inside is beautiful.
...
Tyrian snaps his fingers and the shadows start to close in on Whitley. Whitley tries to get out of the way, but he can't even stand up. Just as they are about to reach him, a bright flash of light casts the shadows away. Weiss stands there, her duel disk at the ready. "Finally, the signer is actually here. Now the real fun can begin." Tyrian says.
Weiss readies her duel disk before looking at Whitley. "Focus on regaining your strength. I'll stop him." She then lets a smile onto her face. "And, thank you for getting this far." Whitley returns the smile. "I draw!" I have to be careful. I only have 200 life points. Luckily, my old friend is free. "If I control no monsters, I can summon White Glass Cloud in defense position!" A stained glass window of the sun bursting through the clouds appears before shattering, with the shards floating in place (Level 1/0).
"I then summon White Glass Pixie!" Another window appears, with a small faerie flying through a field of flowers. The faerie flies out with a smile (Level 1/100). "When Pixie is normal summoned, I can make one other monster I control become one level lower than that of a White Glass synchro monster in my extra deck. I choose White Glass Marauder!" The pixie flies over White Glass Cloud, dropping pixie dust on it (White Glass Cloud 1-7). "I tune my level 7 White Glass Cloud with my level 1 White Glass Pixie! O knight of great strength and valor, remember your oath and slay my foes. Synchro Summon! Come forth, White Glass Marauder!" (Level 8/3000).
Tyrian smirks, confident that if that lumbering knight attacks, he can just discard a monster to negate the attack. "I activate White Glass Marauder's effect! By forgoing its attack, Marauder can destroy all monsters you control with less attack! White Crusade!" The knight swings his axe, and a white energy beam releases, destroying Zeman. Tyrian's eyes widen in disbelief. "How did you know about his effect?" "A friend told me."
"I activate my face-down, Dark Matter! When my dark-synchro monster is destroyed, I can draw two cards and set them as monsters." Tyrian places two cards from the top of his deck, that become green energy clouds with dark cores. He's getting ready to summon an Earthbound Immortal. I need to get ready. "I set one card face-down and end my turn."
Tyrian draws his card and laughs. "It's time to crush you, little signer! I tribute my two Dark Matter monsters to summon the greatest monster in the world!" Blue flames start racing around them, creating the sign of the monkey, which is reflected into the sky. Ruby, Yang, and Blake all see it and look at their glowing marks, realizing that Weiss' battle has begun. "The ground trembles at his mighty power! Fall before him! Break free, Earthbound Immortal Cusillu!" The large monkey climbs out of the flames and lets out a primal roar (Level 10/2800). Weiss's mark glows, forming a red shield over Whitley.
"Let me give you two a little course on just how powerful the Earthbound Immortals are! First, they can attack directly, and can't be attacked in turn! Also, none of your spells and traps work on him, so don't bother trying!" "I already knew that." Weiss states, which earns a surprised gasp from Tyrian and Whitley. "I told you, a friend told me all about you and your deck." She holds her arm up, revealing her mark. "It can't be! I was told it was gone forever!" Tyrian objects. "That was before, learn to keep up. I activate my face-down, Tuning Downgrade! I tribute a synchro monster to synchro summon another synchro monster one level lower!" Weiss' mark glows brighter, as she readies the card that has waited for 5000 years.
"Your perfect scales capture the light of hope. Now, descend and defend us all! Synchro summon! Appear, White Glass Dragon!" A white, serpentine dragon appears with crystalline scales and golden hair running along its spine (Level 7/0). Tyrian glares at the dragon, unable to accept what's right in front of him. "It doesn't matter. You can't stop Cusillu. Attack her directly, and send her screaming to the underworld!" The lumbering monkey stretches its hand forward, ready to claim Weiss's soul. "I activate White Glass Dragon's effect! When your monster attacks or targets one of my cards for an effect, I can negate that effect and give White Glass Dragon your monster's attack. Shimmer Scale Flash!" The scales on White Glass Dragon shine, and a copy of Cusillu appears and blocks the original's attack. (White Glass Dragon 0-2800).
Tyrian grits his teeth with rage. "I activate my face-down, Undeniable Power! If my monster's attack is negated, not only will Undeniable Power summon itself as a monster in defense position, but it will give Cusillu an attack on one of your monsters!" A small totem of a warrior appears (Level 4/2000). "Now, attack White Glass Dragon!" "Why?" Whitley asks. "Their attacks are equal. You'll just be destroying both of them!" "Cusillu has its own effect. When it would be destroyed, I can tribute another monster instead and that will halve your life points." The monkey readies a fist to strike its copy, but a third copy appears and intercepts the attack. "What?"
"I activate the effect of my White Glass Window in my hand. It special summons itself with defense equal to your monster's attack and switches the attack to it." Weiss explains. Tyrian groans in frustration. Since Cusillu attacked a defense position monster, it won't be destroyed, so he can't use its effect. "It doesn't matter. Thanks to Undeniable Power, if you attack, you'll take 500 damage. I end my turn."
"You think you're really something else, don't you, Tyrian Callows? A great warrior of the darkness, ready to kill anyone who stands in your way. But the truth is, you're nothing but a bully, picking on the weak and defenseless. I vow to protect the weak and defenseless from now on!" As Weiss says this, her mark glows even brighter. The marks from Ruby, Blake, Yang, and another's arm disappear. Whitley looks on in amazement as the full mark of the dragon appears on Weiss's back. "I draw! I summon Majestic Dragon!" A small, red dragon appears (Level 1/0). "I tune my level 7 White Glass Dragon and my level 1 White Glass Window with my level 1 Majestic Dragon! The hope of all the world solidifies into beautiful glass. Descend, and wipe away all tears! Synchro Summon! Appear, Majestic Glass Dragon!"
A large dragon appears, like White Glass Dragon, but taller, with shards growing out of odd parts of its body (Level 9/3000). A light shines out from the dragon, and Whitley feels new strength. He is able to stand back up, better than ever. "What is this?" Tyrian asks. "The will of the Crimson Dragon itself?" "When Majestic Glass Dragon is synchro summoned, I can negate the effect of one of your cards. I negate the effect of Undeniable Power!" The dragon shoots out a light from its mouth that drains the totem of its color. "I then use Majestic Glass's second effect. It can make a monster you control unable to prevent my monsters from attacking directly." A light starts connecting between the shards on Majestic Glass's body, before releasing and forming a net that covers the totem.
"Heh. Too bad. I still have a monster, in case you didn't notice." Tyrian waves towards Cusillu. "I did notice. But, you see, you said that I can't attack Cusillu. So, that means that there's only one target left." As Weiss explains this, she points her finger right at Tyrian. He gulps, realizing what she means. "Go, Majestic Glass Dragon! Hope Cascade!" The dragon unfolds its wings, revealing a dazzling array of sparkling colors on its wings. Stars shoot out of the pattern and burn Tyrian's body away. "This isn't over, do you hear me? I'LL BE BACK!" (Tyrian 2600-0).
