Twilight Sparkle fights to obtain the numbers containing Starswirl's memory. But someone new will enter the story. Recommended you read both seasons of Yugioh/RWBY first.

Battle of the Chaos Numbers

Twilight looked over the cards she had chosen for her deck. Starswirl gave them his own examination. They both agreed on one simple thing: they were as ready as they'd ever be to face Sunset and Discord.

"ONLY TWO DUELS LEFT BEFORE THE FINAL MATCH! WHO WILL ADVANCE TO THE FINAL ROUND? TWILIGHT SPARKLE OR SUNSET SHIMMER?"

As Twilight drove up to the starting line, she expected Sunset to be even more manic and unhinged. But as Sunset met with Twilight, her expression was calm, neutral. "Perhaps she has simply run out of the energy to be manic anymore." Starswirl suggested. "Now there is only the hatred." Twilight hoped that wasn't true, but still mentally prepared herself as they both activated Speed World Heart.

"RIDING DUEL, ACCELERATION!"

The two were off, as usual, but again, much to Twilight's surprise, Sunset slowed down, letting Twilight take the first turn. She cautiously drew her card. "I suspect she wishes to go second so that she can unleash a deadly assault." Starswirl guessed. "You had better shore up your defenses." "I set a monster and a card. I end my turn." Sunset grinned. It was time to shine. "I draw!" (Sunset 0-1, Twilight 0-1)

Tron, who was watching from the television in his house, poured a glass of wine in giddy anticipation. He couldn't wait for his project of so many years to finally pay off. "Now all that stands in my way is Night Light and Twilight Velvet's daughter." A part of him wondered if this was fate, coincidence, or just some god's bad sense of humor. Either way, nothing would stop his revenge. Least of all some stupid little girl who thinks she's some big hero.

"I summon Solar Marauder!" (Level 3/1700) "Solar Marauder, attack her face-down!" The fiery knight charges forward towards Twilight's face-down monster. She's already on the offensive, Twilight noted. Her face-down monster is revealed to be Magician's Valkyria. (1800) The witch counterattacks with a magical beam, knocking Solar Marauder back. (Sunset 4000-3900)

"Don't think you've won." Sunset spits out. "I set two cards and end my turn." "I draw!" (Sunset 1-2, Twilight 1-2) "I switch Magician's Valkyria to attack mode!" (1600) "I then summon War Mage!" A wizard with several war medals and carrying a sword appears. (Level 4/1800) "War Mage, attack Solar Marauder!"

War Mage attacks the knight by firing several shots of energy that Solar Marauder attempts to dodge, but ultimately fails to do so. (Sunset 3900-3800) "When any of my spellcasters destroys your monster in battle, War Mage lets me draw a card." War Mage pulls off one of his medals and infuses a glow into it, letting Twilight draw.

"Magician's Valkyria, attack directly!" The witch charges up her wand and fires, but Sunset is quick to act. "I activate my face-down Solar Rebirth! I negate your attack by banishing Solar Marauder from my graveyard!" Solar Marauder reappears only to explode in a fiery burst, blocking Valkyria's attack. "Then, if I control no monsters, I can special summon any number of pyro-type monsters from my deck with a combined level equal to Solar Marauder's. I summon three Red Dwarves!"

Three dwarves bathed in a red glow appear, riding small red stars. (Level 1/500) "I end my turn." Twilight braced as she knew what was coming next. "I draw!" (Sunset 2-3, Twilight 2-3) "I summon Solar Champion!" A fiery man with no shirt and wearing a battle dress appears. (Level 3/1400) "With Solar Champion's effect, all my pyro-type monsters gain 500 attack!" The man raises his fist to the sky, and the dwarves all do the same. (Red Dwarf 500-1000) (Solar Champion 1400-1900)

"I then activate the speed spell Double Attack. By removing 3 speed counters," (Sunset 3-0) "Sunset Champion can attack twice this turn. Now, attack Magician's Valkyria!" The man conjures a sword made of fire and rushes towards Valkyria. "I activate my face-down Shaman's Curse!" A small doll version of Sunset appears.

"Once per turn, when your monster declares an attack, you can make a choice. Either the battle damage I would take is negated and you take effect damage equal to the amount negated, or the attack is negated." "Aw," Sunset mocks. "Are you trying to be merciful? 'Oh, Sunset, please stop! This isn't you!' It damn well is me! I choose to take the damage anyway! Continue the attack!" Solar Champion resumes his attack and destroys Valkyria, the flames being pulled into the doll. (Sunset 3800-3600)

"Next, attack War Mage!" The champion unleashes his assault on the soldier, destroying him as well. (Twilight 4000-3900) "My three Red Dwarves attack you directly!" The three dwarves kick their stars at Twilight, each hitting her duel runner before floating back to their owner. (Twilight 3900-2900-1900-900) "I set a card and end my turn."

"OUCH! SUNSET HAS ALREADY PUSHED TWILIGHT TO THE BRINK! ANOTHER ASSAULT LIKE THAT AND TWILIGHT CAN KISS THIS TOURNAMENT GOODBYE!"

"I draw!" (Sunset 0-1, Twilight 3-4) "I summon Aberrant Stitcher!" A man in a white lab coat and goggles appears. (Level 4/1000) "When Aberrant Stitcher is summoned, I can equip it with a monster from my graveyard, gaining its attack!" Aberrant Stitcher drinks a potion, and laughs maniacally as the spirit of War Mage appears behind him. (Aberrant Stitcher 1000-2800)

I'd love to attack one of the Red Dwarves, preventing her from summoning Discord, Twilight laments, but Solar Champion's effect prevents me from attacking any other pyro-types. "Aberrant Stitcher, attack Solar Champion!" The mad scientist points towards Solar Champion and the ghost of War Mage flies towards it, and fires a shot of energy that obliterates the target. (Sunset 3600-2700) "I set a card and end my turn."

Sunset draws her card with a grin. (Sunset 1-2, Twilight 4-5) "I summon Bright Light!" A tall, thin being appears made of pure light. (Level 4/1000) "I can tribute Bright Light to increase the level of all Light monsters I control by one!" The being releases a blinding display that Twilight has to shield her eyes from. (Red Dwarf Level 1-2) "I then overlay my three level 2 Red Dwarves! Appear, Number 96: Discord!" (Rank 2/0) (Sunset 2-5)

"Hello there, Twilight, Starswirl. How have you been?" The number introduces himself. "I've gotten a brand new friend, after you so rudely cast me away." "You attempted to kill me and enslave Twilight!" Starswirl objects. "Still can't let that go?" Discord replies. "How petty of you. Of course, who am I to talk? I want my revenge against you two. Can't get any more petty than that."

"Are you two done?" Sunset interrupts. "I end my turn." With Shaman's Curse, I should be safe from Discord's effect, Twilight thinks. But something makes me think that Sunset won't take that lying down. "I draw!" (Sunset 5-6, Twilight 5-6) "I switch Aberrant Stitcher to defense mode." (1000) "I then summon Flare Magician!" (Level 3/500) "I activate Flare Magician's effect, banishing a spell from my hand to deal 500 damage to you." Flare Magician flings a ball of fire at Sunset, knocking her back a little. (Sunset 2700-2200) Sunset glares at Flare Magician, remembering how it helped Twilight beat her all that time ago, when the numbers first appeared.

"That will get you nowhere." Sunset responds. "I activate my face-down Rage Plague!" Twilight's monsters adopt an angry expression. "At the start of our combat phases, our monsters are switched to attack position and must attack." Twilight realized the trouble: if either monster attacked into Discord, he can then use his effect and she'll lose.

"I activate my speed spell Peace Treaty! If I have four or more speed counters, I can skip my battle phase in order to gain life points equal to the total defense points of all monsters I control." A white flag appears over the field, pacifying Twilight's monsters. (Twilight 900-2400) "I end my turn."

Sunset growls. "You're stalling. But you can't escape forever. I draw!" (Sunset 6-7, Twilight 6-7) "I attack your Aberrant Stitcher with Discord. Rampage of Madness!" Discord flies towards the mad scientist and, to Twilight's surprise, doesn't use his World of Chaos effect. As a result, Aberrant Stitcher pushes him away using the ghost of War Mage. (Sunset 2200-1200)

"She is attempting to hasten the summoning of Discord's chaos form." Starswirl realizes. "I activate my face-down Overlay Supply Line! Once per turn, when Discord battles, I can attach a monster from my graveyard to him as an overlay unit." Discord reaches into a purple portal, and pulls out Solar Marauder, who then becomes an overlay unit orbiting Discord. "I end my turn."

"I draw!" (Sunset 7-8, Twilight 7-8) Twilight looks at the card she just drew, and can't believe her luck. "I summon Poison Brewer!" (Level 2/1000) "Due to the effect of Rage Plague, my monsters are forced to attack." Both Aberrant Stitcher and Flare Magician enter an aggressive stance. (Aberrant Stitcher 2800) (Flare Magician 1500) Twilight gulps; she only has two speed spells in her hand, so either way, she's taking some damage.

"Aberrant Stitcher attacks Discord!" Aberrant Stitcher points to Discord and War Mage readies an energy shot. "I then activate the effect of Poison Brewer, discarding a card so that Aberrant Stitcher's attack becomes equal to Discord's plus 100." Poison Brewer pours a green liquid on War Mage's bolt so that it becomes sickly green. (Aberrant Stitcher 2800-100) War Mage then fires at Discord.

Sunset laughs. "Clever. I choose not to waste the effect of Discord." The poison energy bolt hits Discord, but he simply takes it and swallows it whole as a show of force. (Sunset 1200-1100) (Aberrant Stitcher 100-2800) "I then attack with Flare Magician, and use Poison Brewer's effect on him as well." Flare Magician readies a ball of fire, and Poison Brewer applies poison to it, causing it to take on a sickly green color. (Flare Magician 1500-100) Flare Magician then flings it at Discord, who catches it in his mouth and swallows. (Sunset 1100-1000) (Flare Magician 100-1500)

"Now Poison Brewer attacks Discord." Poison Brewer waves her ladle, and a ball of green poison levitates into the air and is flung towards Discord. "Run out of tricks?" Sunset taunts. "I activate the effect of Discord to redirect the damage to you. World of Chaos!" Discord picks up an overlay unit and chucks it at the hurtling ball. The ball's color inverts, and it changes course to Poison Brewer, smacking her in the face. (Twilight 2400-1400) "I then activate the effect of Overlay Supply Line, replacing the overlay unit Discord just lost." The overlay unit reappears and returns to Discord.

"I end my turn." Sunset laughs, starting out soft before growing in volume. "You think you're something else, don't you, Twilight? The perfect little hero, always trying to save everyone. Well, I think it's time I did you a favor and showed you the real world, where being a hero gets you killed! I draw!" (Sunset 8-9, Twilight 8-9)

"I activate the speed spell Pain Bullet! By removing 5 speed counters," (Sunset 9-4) "and paying 500 life points," (Sunset 1000-500) "I can destroy one card you control. I choose that stupid doll!" Red lightning gathers around Sunset's duel runner before arcing off and destroying Shaman's Curse. Sunset lets out a primal yell that causes the glass of the railings around the stadium to shatter, panicking the audience. Tron bounces up and down on his seat in excitement. The show was nearing its thrilling conclusion.

"I use Discord in order to rebuild the overlay network!" Discord flies into the overlay network with glee, ready to transform again. "You're going to pay for standing in my way, Twilight! Chaos Xyz Evolution! I xyz summon Chaos Number 96: Discordant Pandemonium!" Discord's new form emerges from the overlay network, reveling in the pain and anger of his host. (Rank 3/0) (Sunset 4-7)

"Twilight, now!" Starswirl commands. "I activate my face-down Magical Ambush!" Twilight replies. "By tributing any number of monsters, I can reduce the attack of your monster by their combined attack points until the end of the turn." All of her monsters rush to tackle Discord, who laughs them off. "Now Discord has no targets for his effect."

Sunset growls in frustration. "I activate the effect of Speed World Heart, removing 6 speed counters," (Sunset 7-1) "In order to summon a level 4 or lower monster from my hand, deck, or graveyard. I choose Solar Champion from my graveyard." The fiery man reappears from the graveyard. (Solar Champion 1400-1900)

"Solar Champion, attack her directly!" Solar Champion conjures a spear of flame and hurls it towards Twilight. "I activate the effect of Divide Mage in my hand! When you attack directly, I can discard it to halve the attacking monster's attack!" A child in a suit covered in the divide by symbol appears and fires a shot at Solar Champion, causing the left half of his body to disappear. (Solar Champion 1900-950)

The bisected monster resumes his attack, and the spear hits Twilight's duel runner. (Twilight 1400-450) "I set two cards and end my turn." Solar Champion's other half returns. (Solar Champion 950-1900) Sunset glares at Twilight, wishing her enemy would die already. "I draw!" (Sunset 1-2, Twilight 9-10) "I activate my face-down Monster Gift!" Sunset impatiently chimes in. "You gain control of Solar Champion, and I get to draw two cards." Solar Champion hovers over to Twilight's side, and Sunset draws her cards.

"You've lost, Twilight!" Sunset cries out. "You have no choice but to attack into Discord, who will redirect the damage back to you, and then I'll win! Do you hear me? I WIN!" Twilight looked at Sunset with a sense of pity. She had five different numbers affecting her, and even without that, she had gone through so much trouble already. It made what Twilight was going to do hurt even more.

"I summon Necromancer." (Level 4/0) "When Necromancer is summoned, I can summon a level 4 or lower monster from my graveyard. I choose Magician's Valkyria." The shaman performs a mad dance, and Valkyria arises from the ground. (Level 4/1600) "I use my level 4 Necromancer and Magician's Valkyria in order to build the overlay network! I xyz summon Number 39: Star Sparkle!" (Rank 4/2500) (Twilight 10-12)

Sunset looked on the monster with a sense of satisfaction. Her victory would be even sweeter if she beat the number that beat her the first time. She also had the trap Anti-Magic Cannon, which would deal 500 damage to Twilight if she activated a spell. There was no way out for her. Sunset was sure of it.

"Sunset," Twilight begins. "I'm sorry for what's happened to you. But you're letting yourself be consumed by pain and anger, and it will only hurt you in the long run." "Oh, whatever." Sunset replies. "Spare me your pity, and lose already! Your precious Star Sparkle has to attack, and it has no one to target except Discord. So do it already!" Twilight looked away. "I activate the effect of Speed World Heart, removing 12 speed counters," (Twilight 12-0) "in order to deal 2000 damage to you." Sunset blinked. How did she forget that effect? A shot fired from Twilight's duel runner, knocking Sunset off of hers. (Sunset 500-0)

"TWILIGHT SPARKLE WINS! SHE WILL MOVE ON TO THE FINAL ROUND! BUT WHO WILL BE HER CHALLENGER?"

Twilight stopped her duel runner in front of Sunset, and Starswirl flew in front of Discord. "It is apparent that I cannot leave you to your own devices. Fortunately, I have prepared a special way of dealing with you. You will never manipulate anyone again!" Discord let out a primal scream as he charged towards Starswirl, but Starswirl let out a bright light that vaporized Discord, sealing him within his card, which had glowing ethereal chains placed over it.

Starswirl then absorbed the remaining number cards as Twilight walked over to Sunset. "Please, is there any way we can reconcile?" She offers her hand to help Sunset up. "Why can't we be friends?" Sunset looks over to Twilight, and wonders to herself why she was even doing all of this. Discord was the one with beef with her, not Sunset. She tries to get up and accept Twilight's hand, but collapses from exhaustion. A medical team rushes in to help her, and Twilight leaves, conflicted over the whole thing.

Tron finishes his drink before putting his glass of wine down, then reaches over to the remote and turns the television off. He gets off the chair and lets out a scream, his crest conveying his frustration by throwing the furniture around the room. All those years wasted! But no matter. I'll get to take her down myself. Twilight Sparkle, you will not stop my plans!

He recomposed himself as his powers stopped. Besides, I have a duel before that. It's time I took care of Rainbow Dash. Tron giggled to himself at the prospect. What special way would he cause pain to Doctor Faker through his own daughter? The possibilities were endless.
