"I missed that." Natasha smiled as she curled into a fetal position. "Me too." Max said as he gently nuzzled her neck.
"Someone is knocking at the door." Jarvis said.
"Who is it? She asked.
"Alexis."
She looked at Max and smiled, grabbing her clothes from the floor as she got out of bed. Max slid his pants up and opened the door allowing Alexis in. "How are you doing?" He asked hugging her.
"Fine." She pushed Max away and walked toward Natasha.
Max closed the door as Tony walked past. "Are you two finished?" He asked. "You've been in there for 6000 hours!"
"Tony get away from the door." Pepper said.
"Instead of throwing Clint in the wall, it should have been Tony." Max growled turning around.
"Tony wasn't in Budapest." She sat in front of her mirror.
"It's still an amusing thought." He said putting his shirt on.
"The rules from Budapest apply here."
"Yeah." Alexis said.
Max smiled as he grabbed a hairbrush. "That goes for you too, Alexis." Natasha said.
"Yeah." Max mocked her. Putting his hand under Natasha's hair he slid the brush down.
"Don't make fun of me." Alexis laughed.
"Really?"
Natasha chuckled and grabbed Alexis's hand. "I missed you guys."
"I missed you more." Alexis smiled looking at her. "You're wearing the Necklace." she said grabbing her moonstone.
"Yeah." She smiled looking at Max in the mirror causing him to smile back.
"What's for breakfast?" Alexis interrupted.
"Nachos." Natasha responded.
"Is this good?" He slid a ponytail down her chest.
"It's perfect." She kissed him.
Max opened the door and pushed Alexis out, wrapping his arm around Natasha they walked out of the room and toward the kitchen.
"Took you long enough." Tony said.
Max growled and walked forward. "That's not following the rules." Natasha mumbled.
"Sorry."
"Can we start cooking?" Tony asked.
"Yes, you can start cooking." Natasha said.
"Good, Barton start cooking."
"Actually..." He answered his phone. "I need to get going."
Tony turned his head and looked at Max. "Can you cook?"
"No." He lied.
"Good, you're cooking."
"I'm not even a part of your club."
"You're staying with us, aren't you?" He asked walking past him.
"Great." He huffed looking toward the ceiling.
"You'll do fine." She turned on the stovetop and put a pan on it.
"Thanks." He kissed her. "Alexis, I'll need an onion, three cloves of garlic, cayenne pepper, and salt." Max said washing his hands.
Natasha opened the fridge and opened the vegetable drawer. "The onion and garlic are right there; I'll grab the rest." She said Walking toward the seasonings. "Cayenne pepper and salt."
Max grabbed the onion from Alexis and a knife, "Can you grab the meat?" He asked dicing the onion.
"That's what she said." Alexis snorted into laughter.
"You walked into that one," Natasha chuckled and grabbed the beef from the fridge.
Max chuckled. "Now we can start cooking." He squirted olive oil into the pan and dropped in the onion. "Can you sauté that while I get the garlic going?"
"I can do that." She grabbed a wooden spoon and stirred it.
Max cut off the ends of the garlic, pushing it down with a spoon he smashed and cut it as finely as possible. He filled the spoon with water and put it on the garlic before cutting it even more finely and doing it again until it turned into a paste-like substance, he turned around and found Natasha standing on one leg with the other one sitting against her leg, scraping the garlic into the pan he pushed his body up against hers. "We're cooking." She said softly.
"That didn't stop us in Budapest." He smiled.
"I'm going to be sick. You mean… I ate…" Alexis gagged and ran out of the kitchen.
"Don't do that over the food." Tony said walking in with Pepper.
"How are you doing, Max?" Pepper asked holding out her hand.
"I'm doing better." He shook her hand.
"I hope you had a good sleep."
"Yeah… Yes I did, thank you."
"You're welcome, do you need help with anything?"
Max looked at Natasha. "Don't look at me, you're the cook."
"You're sauteing the onions and garlic."
Natasha smiled and shook her head. "We're good." She chuckled.
"Ok." Pepper smiled.
Max turned around and put his head on her shoulder. "Thank you."
"You just need to learn how to talk to people."
"I can talk to people; I just mess up on the right wording. Don't get me started on finishing a conversation." He said grabbing the beef. "Nearly impossible."
"You just need practice."
"I will have to pass but thank you." He smiled.
The door closed and two brown-haired people walked up the stairs. Max turned his head and backed away from Natasha. "With those sautéed..." He unraveled the meat. "We can add in the meat." He placed the meat in the pan and felt the oil splatter against his skin.
"Are you ok?" Natasha asked.
"Yeah..." He nodded. "We can cook it." He crushed it with the spoon and stirred it together.
"You must be Max?" The man asked.
"That's me."
"I'm Bruce Banner." he said holding out his hand.
"Nice to meet you." He shook his hand. "Wait... as in the hulk?"
Bruce smiled. "Yeah..." He nodded his head. "I heard you are a werewolf."
"Yes." He smiled.
"Does it hurt to transform?" A brown-haired, blue-eyed lady appeared behind Bruce.
"The last time it happened..." Max looked at Natasha. "It destroyed my body."
"What, was it during sex?" Tony chuckled.
"I did it to save a child." He glared at him.
"I'm sorry about him." Pepper pushed Tony out of the area.
"What did I say?"
"I hope we're not late." A brown-haired, blue-eyed lady stopped in front of him. "I'm Jane foster."
Max looked at Thor and then at her. "Nice to me you." He shook her hand.
"I should've probably introduced myself, I'm Betty Ross."
Max shook her hand. "Nice to meet you."
"Don't poison us, Wolfie." Thor said looking at the stove.
"Only yours, blondie."
Both stepped forward causing the two women to step in between them.
"It's like WW2 all over again." Steve said.
Max smiled and walked toward him. "At least back than I was able to throw them out the plane." He hugged Steve.
"What ever happened to the trio?"
"Logan and Victor went their separate ways, I met up with Logan about five years ago for about a second before he disappeared again."
"What about you?" Where did you get those tattoos?"
The crowd in the kitchen disappeared as the two talked.
"Max."
"What can I help you with, Tasha?" He turned towards her.
"Tasha?" Tony said in confusion.
"Hey Tony, shut up." Natasha said.
Max growled and closed his eyes. "What do you need, Natasha?"
"Can you help me get the food on the table."
"Yes, I can do that." He walked toward her.
"Don't take anything he says personal."
"I know, I'm stepping on their territory, and they don't trust me yet."
"We'll try to make things easy on you." She smiled.
He chuckled and kissed her.
"Feel better?"
"A hundred times, thank you." He hugged her.
"You're welcome." She rubbed his back.
The group grabbed their food and sat on the couch.
"What did you want to do?" Pepper asked.
Tony walked in holding a box. "Ask any question."
"Is that what we want to do?" Steve asked.
"We can do that." Everybody said.
"Before we start, how did you two meet?" Jane asked looking at Max and Natasha.
The first time we met was at a strip club."
"Strip club?" Tony smirked.
"It was the only place with good tasting Tequila." Max smiled.
"The Tequila wasn't the only good tasting thing you were after."
Natasha rolled her eyes. "Every place I would go I would see a mysterious man following me, I tried to look up his credentials but found nothing. So I decided to follow him, and he led me to a strip club."
Max smiled as they looked in each other's eyes. "I was drinking Tequila when Tasha sat by me, we ended up talking all night." He looked around at the group. "I later found out that the club owner was using me as a recruitment process, the person who could get me to talk was recruited, everybody he sent out failed until Tasha got up from her seat, didn't tell anybody what she was doing, just sat beside me and started talking."
"Afterwards, I followed him into the woods and found his campground, but got ambushed by a hunter, killing him I ran out of the woods. I felt stupid; because I thought he was setting a trap for me, and I walked right into it."
"Were you?" Jane asked.
"No." Max shook his head. "I was sitting in a tree watching her. I thought the Hunter was behind me, so I took the opportunity to get the advantage over him. Anyways, I followed her to her apartment and stood on a rooftop to watch her."
"I got dressed for bed, and as I was taking off my uniform I found him with his back turned away from me and looking at the moon."
"I waited for an hour before I decided the smart thing to do was to go in and check the apartment, I did that for 30 seconds before I got caught."
"I plugged in a night light so his shadow would reflect on the wall, but before I could catch him he jumped out the window and ran back into the woods."
"A week later she walked into her apartment all beaten up, and I helped stitch herself up."
"That's..."
"Boring." Tony interrupted Pepper. "Let's play the game."
"Don't be rude, Tony."
"It's fine Pepper." Max said. "I've heard worse." he said wrapping his arm around Natasha.
"By Natasha?" Tony asked in confusion.
"Are we going to play the game?" He asked in annoyance and tightened his hug.
"Yes we can." Pepper said sternly looking at Tony. "Do you know how to play?" She asked Max.
"No, I do not."
"One person is chosen..." She said opening the box. "Each of us picks a card and reads the question, the person who was chosen has to answer."
"That sounds like fun."
"Good, you're going first." Tony said grabbing a card. "I'll go first."
"Do you believe in having a five-year plan?"
"I guess? I don't know."
"That works, I'll go second." Pepper interrupted Tony before he could say anything stupid.
"What do you hope to achieve by age 50, 60, 70, etc."
"I'm over three hundred years old, but what do I plan on achieving in my life, I want to settle down with the people I love, that's not the question but hopefully it will work."
"That works, Bruce it's your turn."
"If you had unlimited money to start your own business, what would it be?"
"Wow, that's a tricky one... Um, probably a club."
"Come on!" Tony said.
"I don't like being the center of attention."
"Wh..."
"Next question." He interrupted Tony."
"It's my turn." Betty said. "If you had a childhood pet and they passed away, how did you manage that?"
"Burning, isn't it?" Thor smirked.
Max groaned as he wiped his face. "We only did that to whores, which reminds me..." Natasha put her hand on his mouth interrupting him.
"You will not talk to each other, at all." Natasha said looking at Max and Thor.
"I'm fine with that." Max muffled.
"Me too!" Thor growled.
"Jane it's your turn."
"How have your values changed over time?"
"I've learned to give people a chance, and to be more patient."
"My turn." Steve said. "What would you be willing to give up achieving your dreams?"
"Morality."
"Could you live with that?" Bruce asked.
"I live with the memories."
"Alexis it's your turn." Max nudged her shoulder.
"What's your #1 thing on your bucket list?"
"It was checked off when I met back up with Natasha."
"That's good, but what is it now?"
"Live peacefully with Natasha, no fighting, no death, just a normal family."
Natasha looked up at Max. "It's true." He kissed the top of her head. "Oh, and you too Alexis."
"I feel the love." She smiled wiping her eyes.
The team chuckled at the remark.
"It's my turn." Natasha said. "What is your earliest memory?"
"My earliest memory would be playing with my friends. Who is next?"
"You had friends?" Tony joked.
Max furrowed his eyebrows and breathed out heavily.
"You want to know what I want to know?" Tony asked. "You come in here unannounced, have beef with Thor, no one knows why, and break things."
"Do you have a question?" Max rubbed the back of his neck.
"Why are you here?"
"I..."
"Well, look at this." A bald dark-skinned man interrupted him as he stood at the top of the stairs.
"Nick!" Max smiled as he got up. "How have you been?" He asked as they hugged.
"Good, I heard you were in town."
"Yeah..." He chuckled nervously. "I'm having a territory dispute."
"I heard about what happened at the mall. Not an easy task when you must cover up the truth, is it?"
Max huffed in amusement. "No it's not." A dark-haired lady walked toward Fury and whispered something in his ear.
"I have to get going." He breathed out heavily.
"Yeah, I'll talk to you later?"
"We better." The two hugged before Nick walked away. "Bye, Maria!" He smiled.
"Bye, Max!" She said walking out of the tower.
Max's smile faded as he turned his head toward Tony. "It's been a really long day; I'm going to bed." He said kissing Natasha on the head before walking down the hall.
"Okay." She spoke with a little sadness in her voice.
"Goodnight, Max!" Pepper, Jane, and Betty said in unison.
"Night." He raised his hand toward them as he entered Natasha's room.
The Avengers looked at each other in silence. "When we first met we were complete strangers." Natasha interrupted the silence. "Just because we fight a few Chitaurin that makes us trustworthy. Everyone keeps secrets, and you are not questioning them about there's. You have never asked anyone else these questions. You have a God, A monster, a super soldier, super spies, CEO, Nurse, scientist/professor..." She said standing up. "You're a lucky guy who survived shrapnel to the chest and wears a bullet proof jumpsuit. Think, Tony! Think before you speak, you never know when Max will have to save you or someone you care about!" She said firmly.
Grabbing hers and Max's plate she took them to the kitchen. "I'm not hungry anymore, can you two watch Alexis?" She asked Jane and Betty.
"Yeah, come on Alexis." Jane said. "I'll show you the snacks we keep for girls' day."
Alexis smiled and stood up. "I like your smile." Betty said.
"Thanks." She chuckled walking into the kitchen.
Natasha closed the door and found Max holding his hair as he cut it with a knife. "Are you ok?" She asked.
He nodded as he kept cutting his hair. "I can cut your hair?"
"It's okay." He said quietly.
She took his knife away, not accepting the answer. Grabbing a comb and some scissors she started cutting his hair. "I'm sorry about Tony."
"I should be used to it by now, maybe Thor is right?"
"No, you're just having a bad night. Do not worry, I chewed Tony out.
Max smiled and wrapped his arms around her. "I was afraid you were going to throw him out the window."
"Can we not talk about him, please?"
She nodded her head as they slowly swayed from side to side.
Natasha's vision was distorted as she slowly woke up, hearing knocking she turned her head and found herself lying on Max. "Come in." She mumbled.
"Natasha?" Clint asked opening the door. He quickly shut the door when he found both nude. "I heard about last night." He covered them with a blanket.
"I don't want to talk about it." She shook her head.
"Ok." He put a hand on her back. "How's Max?"
Max groaned and rubbed his head into the pillow. "It reminds me of my first few years at SHIELD.
"I know." He said sitting beside her. "I came in here because we have a mission, but I'll tell them you can't make it."
"I'll go."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah." She nodded her head.
"Ok." Clint kissed Natasha on the head before walking out.
Natasha gently patted her hand across Max's chest. "Max?"
"Yeah." He mumbled rubbing his hand up her back.
"I need to go; I have a mission."
"Who's all going?"
"Everybody. Jane, Betty, and Pepper will be staying here."
He nodded as she got off him and headed toward the bathroom. Five minutes later she walked out in her black jumpsuit. "I'm on my way out." She bent down and kissed him. "Are you going to be ok?"
"Yeah, I'll see you when you get back."
Natasha opened the door and walked toward the stairs. "How's Max?" Pepper asked in the kitchen.
Natasha turned her head and found the three women sitting at the table. "He's not doing so good." She said walking toward them. "It's best to leave him alone when he's emotional, but if you need anything ask him and he will help, if you don't want to ask him than call me and I will ask him."
"We can do that." Pepper said.
"Thank you." She headed downstairs toward the briefing room. Walking in she sat in a chair next to Clint. "What's going on?"
Steve handed her a manila folder. "Fury called, two hours ago a ship landed in Philadelphia, this came out of it." He pressed a button on the table as a TV screen appeared showing a light green skinned humanoid beast standing at 7 feet tall destroying the city.
Bruce shook his head and rubbed his eyes.
"Get ready we leave in five minutes."
"Natasha, I wanted to apologize for last night." Tony said across the table.
"I don't want to hear what Pepper told you to say, and you should be apologizing to Max." She walked out.
Tony scoffed and slapped his hands against his legs. "I apologized."
"No, you didn't." Bruce said walking out.
"Thor said stuff to Max."
"He wasn't being a dick." Clint said walking out.
"You weren't even there!"
Steve sighed and shook his head as he walked out the door.
Max yawned and stretched his body, looking up he found Natasha entering the room. "I thought you left?" He asked sitting up.
"I need to get ready." She opened a chest revealing a pair of Glocks and widow bites. "Just to warn you, Tony will probably give you a weak apology."
"I figured." He yawned.
"I also told the ladies that they can call you if they need any help, is that ok?"
"Yeah, "if"."
"They're my friends, which means you have to treat them with respect." She slid her hand through his hair. "Ok?"
"I know." He said gently grabbing her moonstone as it lit up. "I'm going to miss you."
"I'm coming back. It's not that easy to get rid of me."
"Three minutes." Steve called out.
"You should probably…"
"Yeah." The two kissed before she walked out the door. Max tried to fall back asleep after the Quinn jet took off but couldn't. Putting on his shorts, tank top, shoes, and grabbed his phone and earpiece he walked out of the room.
"Morning, Max." Jane said.
"Morning, do you have a gym?"
"Yeah, when you go down the stairs take a left and you will find it. But first, take this keycard." Pepper smiled.
"Thanks." He grabbed the card and walked down the stairs. Opening the gyms doors the lights turned on in rows revealing a 120 foot long, 360 feetx160 feet gym. It contained basketball hoops, weightlifting, fighting rings, and in the back had a door to an inside swimming pool.
A few hours later
"What do you think about Max?" Jane asked putting hashbrowns in cooking oil.
"He seems nice." Pepper said. "Natasha seems pretty happy."
"Yeah, I agree with Pepper." Betty said. "What do you think about him?"
"It's comical that him and Thor have a rivalry, but they don't fight each other, they just throw insults at each other."
Max heard a faint click from Jarvis's wall panel as he threw a basketball into the hoop. "Jarvis?!" he yelled.
A small static sound was heard as it answered. "Jarvis?" He said in a singsong voice. "Jarvis?" He tried to access the keypad, but it would not allow him.
The girls stopped talking when they heard the door open. "Check that room." The leader pointed to another gunmen before pointing to the gym as the light shined through the doors window.
"Hello?" Jane asked.
Four masked men appeared walking up the stairs. "Can we help you?" Pepper asked.
"Yeah you can." The leader raised his rifle causing the others to raise their rifles. Jane stumbled backwards hitting the pan as oil spilled all over her hand. "Ow!" She shrieked holding her hand.
"Shut up! Get over there!"
Pepper instantly sent out a message. "Hands in the air!" Pepper raised her hands causing her phone to fall on the ground.
"Lay your hands on the table, slowly."
"This isn't right man." Another gunmen said.
"Shut up!" The leader smacked him with the butt of his gun. Jane sat down and held her wrist in pain as she laid her head on the table.
"Put your fucking hands on the table!" He growled putting the gun to her head. Kicking something on the floor he looked at a phone. "Call Max! Who's Max?"
Max jumped towards the ceiling as the door opened and the gunmen walked in. Hearing vibration above him he looked up as Max pounced on him, Putting him in a chokehold he answered the phone. "Shh!"
"Help me!" The man wheezed.
"What was that?" Natasha asked.
"It's a nobody." He said tightening the hold crushing his neck.
"Let me check something really quickly?"
"Is something wrong?"
"That nobody has SHIELD level encryption, but...?"
Max put in his Bluetooth earpiece. "What did you find?"
"I'm overriding SHIELD's technology in a jeep on a crappy laptop, It will have to wait until I get better signal."
"Oh-ok. Why did you call? I'm not saying I didn't want you to call I just…"
"Pepper called me to call you."
"Oh... oh."
"Go slow… Don't run in there or they may kill them."
"Okay."
Max walked up the stairs dragging the gunmen by his neck. "I think you forgot something." He dropped the body on the ground, opening a cabinet he grabbed a bottle of tequila. "Can I have a Cuban?" He asked opening the bottle.
"There in the wall safe in the living room."
"One minute." He took a sip of tequila as he walked out of the kitchen. "What's the password?"
"Stark."
"Really?"
"Don't ask me about it?"
Max chuckled as he opened the safe. "Thank you." He closed the door and sat at the table. Looking around he looked at everyone, getting to Jane he found tears in her eyes, she saw him and quickly put her head down.
He growled and bent his head down, a click was heard before a flash of light appeared under the table, he breathed in as silver streaks ran through his body and smoke rose around him as he breathed out. "You bought the good ones."
"I thought you might like them."
"I do, thank you Tasha."
"You're welcome."
The gunmen jumped around when they heard footsteps behind them. "What's with all the noise?" Alexis yawned standing beside Max.
"I'm having a business meeting…" He said taking a sip of tequila. "You want some?"
"Mmm." She shook her head. "I'm going back to bed."
"Goodnight." He hugged her.
"Goodnight." She yawned walking away.
"What's going on?" Natasha asked.
"Alexis woke up…" He sighed. "What's going on?" Max asked holding the bottle in one hand and the cigar in his mouth, his other arm folded across his chest.
The gunmen turned their heads in disbelief and stared at the leader. "What is going on?" one of them asked.
"We're here..."
"I'm not talking to you." Max interrupted the leader.
"They came in and told us to sit down, Jane stumbled backwards and burned her hand with cooking oil." Pepper said.
Max slowly slid his chair back and stood up. Walking toward Jane he stopped in front of the leader. "How tall is this building, Pepper?"
"Ninety-three floors."
"No, that's too painless." He turned around and faced Jane. "Can I see your hand?"
She shook her head as she sniffled. Max sighed and knelt next to her. "You know I had a nightmare that I woke up and Thor was in a speedo."
She laughed as she sniffled. "I told Natasha, and we couldn't have sex for a week, we tried but every time we did the picture would pop in our heads. We called him Thor the god of speedos."
Jane's shoulders bounced up and down as she laughed.
He chuckled and rubbed her back. "Can I see your hand?"
She winced as she slowly moved her hand, Max gently grabbed it with both hands. "You got yourself a pretty burn, the skin is mixed red..." He gently pressed it with his thumb causing it to turn white before going back to red. "But it seems like it just hit the first layer, kay?"
"Yeah." She shook her head.
"I'm going to place it on the table."
"Ok."
Max gently raised it and put it on the table. "Remember cool water not cold."
"Yup." He stood up but was stopped by the leader. "Sit down."
"I'll deal with you later." He pushed the leader away and walked toward the sink, washing his hands he soaked a washcloth with cool water before walking back to Jane and gently wrapped it. "Will wrap it up later, kay?" He put his hand on her back.
"Yes, thank you." She smiled.
"You're welcome." He rubbed her back.
"Jarvis is fully functional." Natasha said.
"How can we punish you?" He rubbed his hands together, looking down he found a skull with six tentacles tattooed on the leader's right hand. "You're HY..." The leader punched Max in the face causing a small explosion sending him over the balcony down to the foyer, a loud crash was heard as he landed on a couch breaking it.
"You're not even an avenger, go back home you fucking wannabe!"
A loud snarl was heard as he jumped back into the living room. "You're going to regret that!" He growled running toward him, another gunmen punched him into the wall, he tried to move causing all of them to fire at him destroying the wall and sending him farther in.
"That should do it." The leader said. "Now!" he yelled. "Where are the Avengers?" He asked grabbing Jane's hand and throwing it off the table. She cried out in pain as she fell out of her chair.
"If they were here you wouldn't have made it up the stairs!" Betty said.
"You know…" He grabbed her by the hair. "I don't like your tone." He smiled as he formed an explosive orb in his other hand.
The lights flickered as a slight haze ran on top of the floor.
"Sir?" The gunmen in front of the wall started too slowly back up as a fur covered hand grabbed onto the side of the wall. Pulling himself forward revealed an eight-foot fur covered beast with black markings on his arms. "You just made things worse for yourself!" He growled.
Max grabbed the nearest gunmen by the head and crushed it covering the area with brain matter. "Jarvis lockdown!"
"Lockdown activated!" The doors and windows were locked as a slab of metal blocked them closed.
The leader growled in anger before throwing the orb at Max, dodging the attack he jumped forward and kneed him in the face. The leader punched toward him, but Max dodged the attack and cut off his hand.
He screamed in pain as blood drained on the floor. "That's for Jane! This is for Pepper!" Grabbing him by the hair he held his head in the oil. His scream rang through the kitchen as he scrambled to stand up.
"Let him go!" A gunmen smacked him in the face with the butt of his gun; Max pushed the leaders body into the man pinning him down. He poured it on the man's face, and down his throat as he screamed.
The last gun men whimpered as he slowly backed away. "I'm not done with you!" He dropped the pan on the floor, Jumping on the man both fell down the stairs.
Max gasped awake with the man on top of him and the sun shining in his face. "Ah..." He groaned moving the guy off him, looking at his arms they were red and burning profusely. He looked to the side of the broken furniture and found his earpiece. "Tasha?' "Damn." He took out the earpiece and walked up the stairs.
"Max!" Pepper yelled.
"We thought you were dead." Betty said.
"Did I hurt any of you?"
"No, we're fine, are you ok?"
"It's nothing, Pepper can you go grab the medical kit?"
"Yeah."
"Thank you." He walked toward the sink and washed his hands.
"How's your hand?" He sat next to Jane.
"It hurts pretty bad," She spoke softly.
"Can I touch it?"
She nodded allowing him to take off the washcloth. "Does this hurt?" He asked gently pressing on her skin.
She nodded as she winced in pain.
"Here you go." Pepper put the medical kit on the table.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
"Now…" He grabbed the aloe burn cream. "You're going to feel a cooling sensation from this, kay?"
"Okay."
Max gently wiped the cream on her burn. "Okay..." He sighed grabbing out a moisture wrap. "Now after we wrap this we need to change it every day until the burn heals, kay?"
"Okay."
Max gently wrapped her hand up. "Don't tighten this, the burn needs to breathe, and don't scratch it you may irritate it, kay?" He put his hand on her arm.
"Yes, thank you."
"You're welcome."
"Now..." He yawned as he grabbed his phone.
"Do you want us to take care of your arms?"
"No, but thanks." He pressed a button and put his phone to his ear.
"Hey Morbius, did I wake you?"
"No, you didn't, what do you need?"
"I have five loads of packages I want to donate to the hospital."
"OK, I'll be right there."
Max hung up his phone and looked around the place. "Where's my cigar?" He looked around. "Right here." He grabbed the cigar from a pool of blood.
"I'll grab you another one." Pepper said walking out and walked back in. "The safe's been destroyed."
"Oh... ok." He put the cigar in his mouth and breathed in closing his eyes. "A-..." He sighed sitting at the table.
"How do we take down the lockdown?"
Pepper walked to Jarvis and typed a code in the keypad causing the metal slabs to raise and the doors and windows to unlock, allowing Morbius to walk through the doors. "I'm here, Max."
"That was fast."
"Did you want me to fix the wall?" Morbius asked looking from the foyer.
"No, I'll tell Tony the wall safe exploded."
"You know he probably has cameras everywhere."
"Even better…" He smiled. "Watch your step, the kitchen is slippery."
"Woah!" Morbius stepped carefully and kneeled next to the two gunmen with fried heads. "I can't take them."
Max kneeled next to him, crunching noises were heard as he moved the man's mouth. "I'm a mutant, Morbius."
Morbius chuckled and shook his head. "As long as you promise to never do that again."
Max laughed and fell backwards. "KFC!"
Morbius huffed in amusement but stopped when he saw Max's arms. "How are you feeling?"
"It's just a small burn."
"I'm going to wrap them, just to be sure."
"I'm okay, now can we pack this up."
"I will, I want you to wash your arms in the sink with cool soapy water."
"I'm fine."
"Do it!" He said sternly.
"Fine!"
"How did you two meet?" Pepper asked.
"We met in Budapest while he was exploring for bats."
"Stop talking!" Morbius finished packing the bodies up and cleaned up the blood in silence. He washed his hands and grabbed the aloe from the medical kit. "This will feel cool to the touch."
"Morbius, I'm fine, I heal fast."
He ignored him and gently rubbed a layer of aloe on both of his arms, grabbing some elastic burn wrap he started wrapping his arm. "Change this daily, rinse it with soap and water, and don't scratch it." He wrapped the arms.
"Thanks." Max shook his hand and hugged him. "Thanks for coming."
"You can thank me by continue training Jack?"
"You would have to ask her." He pointed at Pepper.
She shook her head in confusion. "Why, me?"
"You can talk to Tony."
"I can try."
"You like your answer?"
"Yeah, I'll call you soon." Morbius said patting him on the shoulder before leaving the tower.
"Ladies, I'm going to bed." He yawned throwing his cigar in the sink.
"Goodnight, Max!" They said in Unison.
Forty-eight hours later
Max knocked on a door. Jane answered it and looked at him. "Hi? I was… just going to bed."
"I wanted to change your dressing before you did."
"OK." Jane walked out in black leggings.
Max washed his hands and unwrapped her bandage. "Wash your hands." He walked toward the table and brought out the aloe and a clean wrap.
The elevator dinged and the Avengers silently walked out. "What about yours?" Thor heard Jane talking and headed toward the kitchen.
"I did mine before I got you."
Thor watched as Jane sat in front of Max, whose arms were wrapped in burn wrap. "Can I see your hand?" he asked holding out his hand.
"Are you excited to see Thor?" he asked gently pressing her burn with his thumb.
"Yeah." She smiled. "How about you?"
"That's good to hear, your burn is getting better." He grabbed the Aloe and put some on her hand.
Natasha walked beside Thor and watched the two. "Yeah, I'm glad to see Natasha, but if Thor finds out you got injured because thugs broke in the tower, I will have to watch my back constantly." He gently rubbed the aloe on the burn.
"No, I don't think so, I think you did good; you didn't kill anybody until they attacked you first, but I can't wait to see the look on Tony's face when he sees the hole in the wall." She chuckled bouncing her leg up and down.
"I'm not going to hurt you." He grabbed out the burn wrap.
She stopped bouncing her leg. "I know, I just get nervous waiting for Thor to get home, I don't know if he got injured or worse."
"Remember what I told you, comedy always calms the soul."
"Did you really have a nightmare about that?" She laughed.
"Yeah, the scariest thing I've ever seen." He chuckled. "You're all done."
"Thank you." She smiled.
"You're welcome." He smiled putting his hand on her arm.
Jane continued smiling and walked toward the entrance. She saw Thor and jumped into his arms. "How long have you been standing here?"
"Not that long." Max turned around when he heard him.
"Thank you, Max."
"You're welcome, Thor."
Thor walked down the hall as Natasha entered the kitchen. "Hey beautiful." He turned around and closed the first aid kit.
Tony walked down the stairs and stopped as he heard the two talking.
Natasha smiled and sat on his lap. "You did good."
"Nah..." He tapped her abdomen. "Anybody would've done it."
"No..." She chuckled. "We live in New York."
He laughed and patted her ass. "Let's get you cleaned up."
The two walked into their room and locked the door.
"Tony?" Pepper asked.
"Yeah." He turned around and stared at her.
"Is everything ok?"
He walked up the stairs. "Yeah, Let's go to bed." He kissed her on the forehead.
Max turned on the water and filled the tub with soap. Once it filled he laid against the back, followed by Natasha who leaned up against him. "Tell me what happened." He said cupping her breasts.
"We get there, and Abomination immediately runs off, and so we spend a day and half chasing him down, another taking him to the cube."
"That sounds boring."
"It had its moments." She yawned and leaned her head back.
The two sat in silence as Natasha slowly dozed off to sleep.
