Hey! RGQC back with another chapter, and I can say that things are going to get interesting in this chapter. But it's better for me to show it to you all, yeah? Well then, we only have one review for the last chapter. Aw… Oh well.

Fenrir's Fang96: I thought of doing something new and the plan is to introduce a quote that foreshadows what's to come in the future in a way. Oh man. I can tell you that Adam's and Jade's relations with one another will be tense when they meet. As for when the prologue ends? I prefer calling it the Childhood Arc, but I can say that we're close to finishing it before moving on to something more…

Serious.

Well, anyway. I'm done talking, as are all my other stories. I do not own RWBY. Only my OCs in this story belong to me. RWBY belongs to Rooster Teeth.

It has been a month, and, uh, things have been busy. Blake and I have continued our studying and training sessions with Daddy and uh. Mummy went into labour. At Daddy's request, he insisted I sleep over at Aunt Kali and Uncle Ghira's home for now. With that, I was assigned to share a room with Blake in her room since the guest rooms were under renovation at the time.

It was awkward…

When my best friend and I heard about the arrangement when Aunt Kali told us, we were… uh… um… we were surprised about it. Whenever I do a sleepover with my best friend, I usually sleep in the guest room. But a part of me suspects that this was Kali's idea to get us closer or something.

I feel mixed about her choice.

Anyway, I was in Blake's room and never realised how soft and bouncy her bed was! It's so comfortable to lie on, and she has an entire queen-sized bed all to herself! Wow! How did I not visit her room before? I'm kinda jealous that she gets all the good stuff, but I know I shouldn't. Besides, her room is pretty and pleasant to stay in.

Another thing is that her scent is everywhere, which makes sense, and I'll never admit it. Blake smells nice… She is my best friend after all. I wonder if… Oh no. I can feel my cheeks getting warm. "Bad Jade! Bad!" I slapped my cheek as my best friend got up from her bed and looked at me weirdly.

"Jade?" I glance away and out the window. It's now the evening, and Blake and I were resting on her bed when I slapped my cheek.

"Nothing… Just worried about Mummy and the baby." I admit. Though, I could tell that she didn't fully believe me.

"Then why did you slap yourself?" She asks next while I feel ever more awkward. I can't just say that she smells nice! I mean, yeah, sure. Blake smells sweet and earthy, but I can't say without her thinking I'm weird!

"I thought of something stupid," I muttered before getting up from her bed. "Wanna continue studying or play something? Perhaps buy something at the markets?" I offer some ideas with full intent for the topic to change. I could see my best friend contemplating before she nodded at me with a smile, her ears twitching excitedly.

"Sure! I don't want to study more, but going out sounds nice." Blake says as she gets off the bed. "Lemmi tell mummy about this first!" She says before running out the door as I giggle. I enjoy her enthusiasm. It's catchy.

"Then I'll see you at the big door!" I yelled back before I got a reply.

"Okay!"

So cute.

Ugh… I'm starting to think this is what Mummy and Aunt Kali meant about us being closer than before. It's so gross and icky that I think my best friend is cute! I swear those two just want us to be together because we look adorable. With nothing else to do here, I left Blake's room.

Much later…

Blake and I got ice cream since today was unusually warmer than usual, and we were out by the beach! And there were many others also there! Some were swimming, resting on the chairs like us, or even on boats in the distance fishing! Is Kou Kanna a simple place to call home? Yes. Do I want to see what lies beyond the sea and onto the other kingdoms?

Yes.

But perhaps once I'm older, then I can go out and explore them. Sure, Mummy and Daddy warned me of the dangers of the outside world beyond Menagerie, our home. The monsters of darkness called Grimm, which my Daddy fought against. I remember the tales my best friend told me. Big towns are built out of stone, not wooden huts like most are here. Towns with sloped roofs like her mansion and different cultures to see!

And while I'll never say it out loud. Perhaps. Just perhaps… I can find a reason for these memories… And that red-haired bull boy… I've been seeing him here more often alongside that Sienna Khan lady. They've been getting more active in recruiting volunteers ever since both were here last month. And as my father hates to admit, their plans to get more recruits are working, as several have volunteered not too long ago.

Even some of the people in the Menagerie Guard have willingly resigned to join the White Fang. And that means they will be more effective thanks to the reforms they have undergone throughout the years, thanks to me. Daddy had expressed his worry that if Ghira didn't control the Fang more tightly, he could lose control of the organisation he had founded.

But as he says, 'Only time will tell what path the Fang will take. I only pray they can restrain themselves.'

But… that memory I got a month ago.

Every time I see Adam's face, that same memory appears again, and I can't help but wonder. Is this a warning of the future? Or is something else at play here? I honestly do not know… I'm glad I don't become a mess whenever I see him around. Though… He had talked to us before, short conversations as they are, but I couldn't help but keep a close eye on him whenever he was not looking at me.

"Ah! Nothing like ice cream on a hot day!" My best friend lets out a satisfied groan as we quietly enjoy the scenery. But I still wonder how mummy is doing with the baby. It's been almost the whole day since she went through labour in the morning. Does it take that long for a baby to come out?

Now I feel gross.

Even then, I hid it behind a smile. "Yeah!" I said before licking my Choco-chip ice cream while Blake had strawberries. "It's nice to have that on a hot summer day."

"Which is pretty much every day." Blake quipped as I chuckled in response.

"Yep. It is either this or it rains nonstop." Blake giggled as we continued the quiet moment between the both of us. This is nice, and I wouldn't mind if we stayed here longer, but the sun is starting to set. That and I, uhh… I have to sleep in the same bed as Blake…

God, it makes me feel flustered after Daddy told me about the birds and bees… I swore a shiver crawled down my spine, and thankfully, both of us had finished our ice cream and washed our hands in the nearby basin. "Mummy would complain if she knew we had ice cream before dinner." Blake mumbled with a cheeky grin as I gave my own in return.

"Then why don't we keep quiet about it?" I suggest. "She doesn't have to know that we had ice cream if no one tells her, yeah?" We both grinned and swore silence before returning to my best friend's mansion, and Aunt Kali made fish porridge for dinner! Though Uncle Ghira wasn't in the house, Kali also departed soon after to my house to check on mummy and daddy.

Thankfully, there are still Menagerie Guards in the house, so security over two children wasn't an issue to worry about for Aunt Kali and Ghira. Of course, we didn't leave the plates aside once we were done. Aunt Kali would scold us till the shattered moon came above, and both our parents did their best to make us independent. And that includes doing house chores and cleaning up after ourselves.

Trust me. Blake and I hated that our parents forced us to do that, but I eventually saw the reasoning behind why they were doing it and even managed to encourage my best friend to accept it. She was still peeved about it and reluctantly did her chorus, though. But now I think she has grown used to it.

And who would have known time passes quickly when you have someone with you because sooner did we realise we washed and cleaned up all the plates and bowls and the sun had begun to set outside the windows. Even more so were the Menagerie Guards lighting up candles around the house since Blake's house mainly uses the sun to light up the house.

Which is quite smart and safer than using candles, if I may add. Those things can be safety hazards if someone is not careful with them. After all, there have been several cases of fires breaking out in Kuo Kuana since every single house here is made of wood. Thankfully, we have a full-on dedicated firefighter squad that works all day and night to stop fires.

Though part of it was due to my suggestion. Before that, Kuo Kuana mainly relied on the Menagerie Guards for any problems and was the only major organisation. I didn't really do much, but I just suggest that perhaps we could have other organisations like the Menagerie Guards in Kuo Kuana to help it deal with its problems.

Therefore, in a way, thanks to me and the memories I appear to have, We ended up creating another organisation whose main purpose is to do all the firefighting as well as rescue and emergency medical services for the people called the Menagerie Civil Defence Initiative.

Or MCDI for short.

Big words, I know.

In addition, they regularly worked closely with the Menagerie Guards on other local affairs, and others have suggested to Uncle Ghira that both organisations should merge under a single Civil Defence branch. But he shot it down due to administrative issues of combining the two into one bigger organisation.

Okay, back to what's happening instead of getting distracted.

After finishing washing the dishes, we took turns using the bathroom to clean ourselves, and it wasn't long till we decided to go to the balcony and sit on the couch. I can never get tired of this view. It's so pretty. The stars above, including the shattered moon. Its moonlight casts all over the town as torch lamps litter the area with the ever-present breeze of the sea washing all over Kuo Kanna.

It's a paradise to me.

And it's home.

"Can I just say that your house has the best view?" I said while leaning against the wooden railings that prevented us from falling.

"Why not? It's a nice view of the entire town from here." Blake said as she stood next to me. My ears twitched as I felt the sea breeze brushing against them, and we could hear it howling. Yet, despite the unnerving feeling I get whenever I hear the winds howling.

At this moment, it just feels soothing to me.

However, I suppose moments like this can't last forever because I did not take long to pick up my friend doing her best to stifle a yawn from her lips while I chuckled at her. "Someone's tired," I say with a grin before Blake jokingly hits me on the shoulder. "Now, why would you do that? I thought I meant something to you?" I couldn't help myself. It's just too funny to tease my best friend.

"You do." Blake pouts with her cheeks red and ears twitching. "But stop teasing me! You're younger than me!" She cried out while I burst into laughter.

"By only four months." I quipped with a smug smile as I was rewarded with my best friend pouting even harder before a smirk broke out. She began to giggle before we decided to leave the balcony. And then we were reminded that I was supposed to share a bed with her. Yes, while the queen-sized bed is large enough for us, that isn't the problem. It is a fact that this will be the first time she and I will share one.

Sure, we did share a drink that one time and that other when I was ill, but… This is new to me and Blake. At this point, we both were in her room, with my best friend wearing her violet pyjamas while I had my green. Now that I think about it, it kind of becomes our signature colours…

It still doesn't help that we're sharing a bed.

Sure, Aunt Kali was helpful enough to provide us with additional pillows and bolsters for our use, but we're still sharing a bed. Something which I'm unsure if we should even be sleeping in the same bed in the first place because mummy told me that only married couples do that. And neither of us are married nor a couple. It didn't help that a part of me was screaming at me not to do this and to instead sleep on the floor or something.

But fluffy bed… It's so soft and comfy.

How can I say no to that?

"Uhm… It's getting late." Blake nervously scratched the back of her neck while I glanced at the bed and back at her with her cheeks red and eyes glowing amber. Right. We had night vision to see the room in the dark, which apparently made our eyes shiny.

"Yeah. After you?" An awkward smile grew on my face, and I could feel the heat on my face growing by the second. My best friend could only nod as she slowly got onto the bed, and I did the same. And wow… I feel like I'm sinking into it. But I couldn't enjoy the comfort of the bed with my every thought that my best friend was next to me the whole time.

"Good night, Blake?" I ask while looking at my best friend. She quickly reptiles as our glowing eyes are on each other.

"Mm… Good night, Jade." With a final good night, we both turned our bodies away from each other so our backs were the ones facing one another. But no matter how much I tried to sleep, my mind constantly worried about my best friend sleeping beside me. However, as I soon learned in the coming days, my best friend was in the same predicament as I was in.

The following day, Kali happily hums as she walks through the mansion of her home. News has reached her early in the morning. Amranth has successfully given birth to a baby girl around three in the morning. But much of the details were vague except for the request for her, Ghira, Jade, and Blake to come over to her house as soon as they could. And while it's seven in the morning, Kali simply wants to check up on her adorable kitten and her best friend.

After all, it was her devious plan to put both children together since it became evident to many people that Jade and Blake were developing a close bond. And if things go well, she might get new teasing material on both of them. Kali stifled a giggle upon reaching the daughter's door and gently opened the door upon witnessing the sight before her, her hands shooting up and over her mouth in stunned surprise.

On her bed was her daughter nestling herself next to Jade with her back against him, and while the blanket covered most of their body, Jade had his arm around her as if he didn't wish Blake to leave his hug. Even more so, his chin gently rested on Blake's head and both had content smiles while Kali's lips pulled upwards.

For a moment, she swore she heard soft purring coming from both of them, and Kali had the urge to coo at the adorable sight. But the Belladonna matriarch had to restrain herself before reaching into her pocket and pulling out her scroll. Oh, this would be the perfect teasing material of all time!

She's never going to let this go.

With her scroll in hand, Kali stalks into her daughter's room like a cat hunting for prey with the smuggest grin she could give. Moving slowly at a pace to not alert any of them to her presence, Kali got into several positions in her daughter's room and took photos of the sleeping children before making her leave. Of course, once she was in the clear, Kali started to coo at the adorable images she had taken before sending them to everyone she trusted.

Though, it was suddenly interrupted by horrified screaming behind her, and Kali couldn't hold it and burst out laughing. It appears that both of them are now awake and have found themselves in quite a situation. Well. With her plans reaching their fulfilment, Kali resumes and makes her way to the kitchen.

Since she's in a way better mood, she might as well make them something extraordinary as thanks for playing their part.

Much later, Kali was in the dining room with a full meal of scrambled eggs, bacon, and plenty of fruits to snack on in a wooden bowl. And during that time, she gently hums with a grin while waiting patiently for her daughter and best friend to arrive. And they did. Kali had to stop a giggle when she saw the both of them entirely red in the face and utterly refusing to look at each other.

Though they were still by each other's side.

"There you are! I was getting quite worried about the both of you. Is everything alright?" Kali asks with her hand out towards the food on the dining table. Yet. Neither of them spoke or gave an actual answer but instead chose to silently sit down and eat with their eyes away from each other.

Kali hid a smirk behind her cup of tea at how her daughter and best friend acted. It's so adorable to see them react this way. But perhaps she has been a bit too hasty and would be better to divert their attention away from their situation for now. Of course, she's not letting that go for now, but there's always a place and time for it.

"I got some good news to share with you," Kali said as both children's ears perked up as she gazed over at Jade. "Your mother has given birth to a baby girl. Congratulations Jade. You're a big brother now." Jade's eyes lit up like a torch as the little car Faunus smiled.

"Really? Yes!" He cheered with his arms up while Blake began clapping her hands. Though Blake cannot lie, to this day, she has wondered why her mother refuses to give her another sibling to be with. Sure, she had asked numerous times, but most of the responses were along the lines of 'I am happy with one.' So, seeing Jade this happy over becoming an older brother had her a bit envious of him.

Nevertheless, Blake was happy for her ecstatic friend as he chomped down on his breakfast hastily. "Slow down Jade. There's no need to rush." Kali smiled while shaking her head. As for Jade, he sheepishly chuckled as he slowed down as all three ate their breakfast.

Much later, back at his house, Jade was tense. Frankly, every one of them standing outside his house were anxious as well. Kali explained after breakfast that the message his mother sent to her was unusually vague. Even for his liking, it was as if his mother and father were hiding something from them, and Jade could only wonder why secrecy was needed in the first place.

Unless it's a surprise or something gone wrong, those were what Jade could only conclude as to why it was needed. Even so, Ghira, Kali, Blake and himself were silently waiting outside the door before it opened to reveal Melo looking exhausted with bags underneath his eyes.

"Ah. Ghira, Kali, glad you come as soon as you are available and thank you for watching over Jade for us." He greets with a smile before bending down and gently brushing his hand over his son's head. "Sorry about the vagueness of the message. We didn't want to cause concern to any of you. Nor to my kitten here."

"What happened, Daddy?" Jade asks as Blake glances at him nervously. "Is mummy and the baby alright?" Melo slowly nods his head as he continues patting his son's head.

"Yes. Both are alright, and your mother's been resting since she gave birth to your little sister."

"Then, what's the problem then?" Jade asks next as his ears twitch. Something's not right, and he knows it. There's no need to be vague with something this important unless it concerns him. Melo sighs, knowing that it's impossible to hide things from his son, and so he stands back up and beckons them to come with him.

"Come. It's better you see for yourself." And so Melo walks back in with everyone following after him until they end up in Amranth and Melo's room to see the Grayson Matriarch holding a baby wrapped in a bundle of cloth, and from looks of it, she had just breastfed the baby girl.

"Jade!" The cat Faunus's mother calls out to him before encouraging him to come over with her hand. "Please come here and say hello to your little sister.

"Mom. Are you okay? Is there something wrong with her?" Jade asked as he walked over towards his mother. Yet, Amranth looked uncertain, as if she didn't know how to explain.

"It's not that dear…" She mumbled as she moved the cloth aside to show her kitten his new sibling. And in the white bundle of cloth is a baby with white hair and closed eyes. The fact her hair is white, unlike his father's or mother's hair, that alone earned Jade's curiosity. "Say hello to Bianca. Your little sister. She was born with albinism. Her condition is quite rare amongst our people and…"

Amranth could not finish her sentence, which worried everyone in the room. Especially Melo and Jade. Though the former is fully aware of why, the latter is unaware of why his mother stopped speaking. Amranth's eyes began to glisten with tears and worry before Melo stepped in.

"Jade, your sister… She's a bird Faunus… but was born with only half her wings."

"Oh dear…" With her hands covering her mouth, Kali murmured while Ghira closed his eyes in contemplation. Blake was rendered stunned silent, and she found herself unable to react. As for Jade, he was shocked at the revelation.

His sister was born not with one condition but two. And since she is a bird Faunus with only a single wing. That means…

Means…

"She cannot fly?"

"No. She cannot fly once she grows up." Amranth confirms his worry as Jade finds himself staring at his little sister, who slept calmly in his mother's arms. A single tear dripped down Amranth's cheek as Melo did his best to reassure her. Even so, what was supposed to be a celebration of a new life born turns tragic. Despite being a bird Faunus, Bianca can never learn the joys of flight thanks to her disability.

The whole time, Jade doesn't know how to feel now. All his embarrassment in the morning he had with his best friend, the anticipation of seeing his little sister for the first time, and the terror and suspicion from encountering Adam for the first time. All of it doesn't compare to what he felt right now for the first time in a long time.

Jade does not know how he should feel.

Nor how he should react to what has been revealed.

He's confused. Disbelief even.

"Jade?" The little cat Faunus's ears perked upon hearing his mother calling him.

"Yeah?"

"I… I must tell you that we'll visit my mother in a month. We're going on an overseas trip soon."

"Oh… Wait, what?"

And cut!

Now I can officially say we're slowly leaving what I will call the childhood Arc of this story! Man, it has been a ride developing Jade and the others as characters! So, What do you guys think of this chapter? Kali's manipulations to get her daughter and Jade closer together are quite adorable, yeah?

And we cannot forget how awkward it must be for both kids to sleep in the same bed. I know I was that one time I had to share a bed with my sis when we were kids… And I kind of use her as a hugging pillow, too. Oh, she was not happy about it the next morning.

Anyways, let us officially introduce Bianca Grayson to the family! An albino bird Faunus born with only a single wing! Yeah, I figured that I wanted to make Bianca a bird Faunus but that's too normal. So I just thought, why not make her a single-winged bird Faunus? Though I have to admit, I was partially inspired by Sephiroth from Final Fantasy. Except she's a bird Faunus with albinism. Probably dove since her soon-to-be-developed feathers would be all white, yeah?
