Chapter 4:
Janeway's Journey
Admirals, admirals...and more Admirals. And Harry Kim? Finally, a Captain, a Fleet Captain at that.
Geordi, Picard, and their crew venture into the corridors of the USS Voyager. First stop: the Mess Hall.
Almost no AI's here. Seven of Nine joins the men of the Titan on her old ship. "It's been a long time since I've seen my old pals on this ship."
On the Bridge, a young Miral Paris makes a report, "Excuse me, sirs, but the shuttle from the Titan is approaching, reading 3 life-signs, one of them registering as Human with Borg implants."
Janeway looks at her XO, "She's back! Mr. Kim, you have the Bridge." "Yes, ma'am!" Harry responds.
The doors to the Mess Hall open. "Bless my whiskers, it's been ages." Seven hugs Neelix. "Seven, it is so good to see you. And in a Starfleet uniform, finally." "Yes, a long time waiting."
"Well, well. If it isn't our prodigal daughter coming home." "Admiral Janeway!" The two officers embrace. "Jean-Luc, welcome aboard Voyager." Jean-Luc nodded, "This is the first ship in the Fleet with no A.I.s" "Correct, we plan to keep it that way." Janeway announced. "Now, let's see who else Seven's been missing." Janeway meets the rest of the old Enterprise crew, as do others.
Sickbay
"Computer, initiate EMH!" "Please state the nature of the medical emergency!" "Intruder Alert, Doctor. A long-lost child has returned home." Janeway puts her hand on Seven's shoulder. "Hello, Doctor." "Seven! It's wonderful to see you again. It's been ages since you've left for the Fenris Rangers."
"Yes, indeed. And we've lost a friend during my time there." "Who?" Janeway asks. "We lost Icheb to the criminal Bjayzl and her cohorts on Freecloud. She has since been dealt with." "I'm sorry for your loss, and the loss of Hugh as well." "Admittedly, I didn't know Hugh as well as Admiral Picard and his crew."
Astrometrics
As they reminisce, they reach Astrometrics. "You've kept my old station," Seven said just outside the door. "Yes, but it's who's inside that's the surprise," Janeway said. A young woman turned and stood at attention." "Lt. Commander Wildman, at your service." Cupping her hands, with tears of joy, Seven embraced and laughed, "Naomi, you have grown so much. I'm sure your mother is proud." "She is. She's retired from Starfleet." "I heard about that, congratulations to her." Seven and Naomi talked a little more before Seven saying, "As you were!"
Bridge
Finally, the Bridge. Seven and crew approach the captain's chair. "Captains on deck!" "At ease," a voice sounded. The XO approached. "It's good to see you, Seven!"
"Captain Harry Kim. It's about damn time you became a Captain!" Seven looked at Janeway, accusatory. "Wasn't my decision to keep him as an ensign for 7 years. We were in the Delta Quadrant, remember?" "That's not a good excuse, Kathryn." Janeway asked, "You've had a few setbacks, haven't you, Mr. Kim?" Harry responds, "A few; but none to warrant retaining the ensign insignia for so long, Admiral." Picard interjects, "Some of the officers on the Enterprise waited years before they were junior grade lieutenants, and some ever longer before they become full Lts. Don't blame Janeway for your late promotions, Mr. Kim."
Seven looks around, "We're missing several crew members." Janeway said, "Well, Tuvok is an Admiral, who gave you the rank of Captain, as requested by Captain Liam Shaw. Chakotay is a Captain of his own ship; but he couldn't be hear today. Tom and B'Lana are working on the DS9 space station, taking over somebody's post." "That would be Chief O'Brien." "Thank you, Jean-Luc."
Jean Luc interjects once again, "Pardon us, but Mr. LaForge still has many other ships to explore. Captain Hansen, will you be staying here?" "I'd like to stay for a while. You go on ahead." "Thank you, Admiral Janeway for welcoming us." "Wouldn't miss it for the galaxy, Admiral Picard." "As you were!"
HMS Bounty (Klingon Ship)
The crew visit the old Klingon ship from the time of Kirk and crew when they lost the original 1701 Enterprise. No A Is installed; just some maintenance crews.
