Everyone was gathering in the duel arena as Chazz was preparing to duel first-year Obelisk Blue student Reginald Van Howell III. "Look who it is, the guy who got booted from the blues last year. You're going down," Reginald commented, but Chazz just laughed.

"Look kid, you're an obnoxious little punk, and I can respect that, but no snot-nosed freshman can stand up to the Chazz," the former obelisk assured. Meanwhile, Jaden, Syrus, and Alexis were running to get to the arena before the duel started. "Come on, we're gonna be late for the first official duel of the year!" Jaden said.

Syrus asked why he never runs this fast when he's late for class, Alexis pointed out that Jaden saves his energy to run out of class just before they made it into the arena as Bonaparte announced the duel. "In this corner, former Obelisk Blue student Chazz Princeton. If he wins, he gets to return to the blue dorm. Standing in his way is the top freshman duelist, Reginald Van Howell the Third!" he shouted.

Jaden said it was impressive Chazz was getting a chance to go back to Obelisk Blue, but Syrus argued that Jaden should've gotten the chance, especially since he beat Zane in the grad match last school year. The three were interrupted by Crowler, who said he had a reason for selecting Chazz.

He asked the trio if they had heard the rumors about Aster joining the school this year, and they confirmed they had heard them, Jaden asking why they hadn't seen him. "I don't know. He never showed up. We were hoping Aster enrolling would give the school some good publicity, but after he's left, once word gets out, the academy will be a laughingstock, which is why I put this duel together," Crowler informed.

Alexis asked why Chazz was dueling instead of Jaden, and Crowler admitted that while Jaden had impressive dueling skills, Chazz was also a skilled duelist, and that combined with his family's status would make him an ideal celebrity duelist. Jaden asked why he was dueling, and Crowler told him that he felt Chazz being in Slifer Red would reflect poorly on the school, which is why if he beat Reginald, the top student among the Obelisk freshmen, Chazz would be allowed back into the Obelisk dorm.

"Alright, you know the drill: no direct attacks below the belt, but trash talk is encouraged," Bonaparte said as he left the stage, Reginald started the insults, saying that Chazz was nothing but a stuck-up snob and that no one liked him. "I'm waiting for the insult, kid. Maybe you haven't picked up on this little Reggie, but I do things my way, and I didn't come here to win any popularity contests," Chazz declared before saying to get on with the duel.

Reginald: 4000 LP

Chazz: 4000 LP

"I'll start this duel, and I summon Marauding Captain in attack mode," Reginald declared.

Level 3/Earth/Warrior

ATK 1200/DEF 400

"And due to his special ability, I can summon a level four or lower monster from my hand to join him, so I summon Warrior Lady of the Wasteland in attack mode!"

Level 4/Earth/Warrior

ATK 1100/DEF 1200

"I follow that up by playing the equip spells Jewel Sword and Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade, giving both my monsters an extra 300 attack points."

Captain: 1200-1500 ATK

Warrior Lady: 1100-1400 ATK

"I'll place one card face-down and end my turn. Looks like you're up Chazz-ball, think you have what it takes? Rumor has it you have the best deck money can buy, now let's see if it was worth it," Reginald challenged, but Chazz just asked if he ever stopped talking before starting his turn and summoning his X-Head Cannon in attack mode.

Level 4/Light/Machine

ATK 1800/DEF 1500

"Next, I play the spell Graceful Charity, so now I can draw three new cards as long as I ditch two, and the cards I'm discarding are Chthonian Polymer and Ojamagic, and due to Ojamagic's effect, when it's sent from my hand or field to the graveyard, I can add one copy each of Ojama Yellow, Green, and Black from my deck to my hand," Chazz explained.

Reginald asked why Chazz would put weak cards like the Ojamas in his deck, and Chazz said he would show him as he pulled another card from his hand. "I play the spell Ojama Ride! By sending the Ojama brothers from my hand to the graveyard, I can summon up to three level four or lower union monsters from my deck in defense mode, so I summon Y-Dragon Head and Z-Metal Tank," he explained.

ATK 1500/DEF 1300

"And now my banishing my three monsters, I can summon XYZ-Dragon Cannon!"

Level 8/Light/Machine

ATK 2800/DEF 2600

Reginald said it was bad for him, and Chazz sarcastically called him perceptive before activating XYZ-Dragon Cannon's effect, discarding two cards from his hand before his monster fired twin beams from its cannons at Reginald's monsters, destroying both at once.

Reginald explained that since his Jewel Sword was also sent to his graveyard, he could draw a card, but Chazz said it wouldn't help him much before ordering his monster to attack directly, Dragon Cannon firing an energy blast from its dragon mouth at Reginald, pushing him back.

Reginald: 1200 LP

"I end my turn. Still think you've got a shot?" Chazz asked. "This obnoxious rich kid isn't half bad," Bonaparte commented, but Crowler said Bonaparte should have more faith in him, as he was the one Sheppard left him in charge, but Bonaparte cracked that it was because no one else wanted the job.

"My move. And I play a personal favorite of mine, Pot of Greed, so I draw two more cards. Next, I play Call of the Haunted to bring back my Warrior Lady in attack mode. With her on the field, I can equip her with the Great Sword spell card, giving her an additional 300 attack points," Reginald explained.

Warrior Lady: 1100-1400 ATK

"Congratulations, you have a monster that's half as strong as mine," Chazz mocked, but Reginald said his Warrior Lady was just a stepping stone. "You see, a monster equipped with Great Sword counts as two when you sacrifice it to summon a warrior monster, so I sacrifice Warrior Lady of the Wasteland to summon Gilford the Legend!" Reginald declared.

Level 8/Earth/Warrior

ATK 2600/DEF 2000

Jaden said it was a good move, Alexis commenting that between Reginald's skills and his bad attitude, he was like a mini Chazz. Syrus said that was a scary thought, but that Reginald's monster was still weaker than Chazz's Dragon Cannon. "I activate Gilford's special ability. When he's normal summoned, I can equip any number of equip spells in my graveyard to any warrior-type monsters I have on the field, so I equip Gilford with Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade, Jewel Sword, and Great Sword!" Reginald declared.

Gilford: 2600-3500 ATK

"And now by sending a card from my hand to the graveyard, I can equip Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou to Gilford, giving him 500 more attack points."

Gilford: 3500-4000 ATK

Reginald ordered his monster to attack and Gilford raised his sword, cutting XYZ-Dragon Cannon right down the middle.

Chazz: 2800 LP

Reginald ended his turn, and Chazz actually complimented him, saying the duel wouldn't be enjoyable if he didn't have any skill. "I draw! And I play my own Pot of Greed. And next, I'm gonna play the spell Ojamandala. By giving up 1000 life points, I can summon the three Ojama brothers from my graveyard," Chazz explained.

Chazz: 1800 LP

Level 2/Light/Beast

ATK 0/DEF 1000

"These three misfits might not look like much, but they're about to take you down. I play the spell Ojama Delta Hurricane, which will destroy all the cards on your field. Show him how boys," Chazz ordered, and the three Ojamas joined hands before spinning around Gilford rapidly, destroying him.

"I don't believe it, the strongest monster in my deck was destroyed by dweebs. And in their underwear," Reginald lamented. "They may seem like a bunch of wimps, but these three mutants can be pretty vicious if used right," Chazz informed, and Reginald reminded him that since his Jewel Sword was sent to his graveyard, he could draw one card.

Chazz then placed a card face-down and ended his turn, but not before Reginald asked if it was another Ojama card. Chazz asked him why he'd asked, and Reginald responded "Oh, I don't know, maybe because you seem to have built your entire deck around the three stooges. Well, I've had it. Those freaks have made a fool out of me for the last time."

"You're right, kid. Why let them make a fool out of you when you do such a great job of making a fool out of yourself?" Chazz asked condescendingly, and Reginald got steamed. "I draw! And I play the equip spell Premature Burial, which will let me pay 800 life points to bring back a monster from my graveyard and equip it with this card, and I choose my Armed Samurai Ben Kei!" he shouted.

Reginald: 400 LP

Level 4/Dark/Warrior

ATK 500/DEF 800

"Next, I use the effect of Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade in my graveyard. By banishing two warrior monsters from my graveyard, I can add this card to my hand. And now I'm gonna equip it and Lightning Blade onto my Samurai, giving him 1100 more attack points."

Ben Kei: 500-1600 ATK

"Now attack and destroy that yellow pipsqueak!" Reginald shouted as Ben Kei rushed at Ojama Yellow and cut him right in two. Syrus pointed out that since Ojama Yellow was in defense mode, Chazz's life points were safe. "I'm not done yet Chazz. My monster gets an extra attack for every card he's equipped with," Reginald informed.

Alexis pointed out that Ben Kei had three equip cards, and Jaden said that since Chazz only had two more monsters on the field, he'd take a direct attack. Reginald ordered Ben Kei to attack again, and his monster crushed the remaining Ojamas and set his sights on Chazz.

"Decision time. If I play my face-down right now, I can summon back all three of the Ojamas and use one of them to protect me. Well, as the man says, no pain, no gain," Chazz thought to himself as Ben Kei landed in front of him and struck him with the flat of one of his blades.

Chazz: 200 LP

"How's that? You miss your little friends?" Reginald asked mockingly, but Chazz just smiled before revealing his face-down. "I play the trap Ojama Delta Wear! This card will bring back all the Ojamas that were destroyed this turn," he explained as the Ojama Brothers returned, overjoyed that Chazz took a hit to keep them all together.

"So, team pathetic is reunited, and guess who the biggest loser of them all is? It's you, and you'll never be a blue again," Reginald informed. "You know kid, you may look down on the Red Dorm, and sure it's nothing like the Obelisk Dorm, and most of the duelists there are slackers, but they did teach me something," Chazz said.

"If you lower your point of view to their level, you see things you don't see from your high horse," he continued as he started his turn, seeing he drew Polymerization. "I play Polymerization to fuse the three Ojama brothers to summon Ojama King."

Level 6/Light/Beast

ATK 0/DEF 3000

"Next, I play the equip spell Shield Attack, which will switch Ojama King's attack and defense points."

King: 0-3000 ATK/3000-0 DEF

"Now Ojama King, attack Armed Samurai Ben Kei with Flying Belly Flop Drop!" Chazz shouted as Ojama King leaped into the air before dropping onto Ben Kei, flattening him.

Reginald: 0 LP

Winner: Chazz

"Looks like slumming it with the Slifers hasn't hurt my game. Maybe now you'll see that the color of your coat doesn't mean squat, 'cause an Obelisk Blue, who's supposed to be the best of the best, just got schooled by a Slifer Red. Face it kid, whether we're wearing blue, yellow, red, or polka-dot, you'll always be the same loser, and I'll always be The Chazz," Chazz declared before everyone started cheering for him.

"Way to win one for the reds. I always knew you were one of us," Jaden said as he and the other Slifer Reds ran down to the arena, throwing Chazz on their shoulders. "Put me down you dorks, I'm not one of you!" Chazz shouted angrily. "Didn't see this coming. But if he wants to stay in the red dorm, who am I to stop him? Attention please, there's been a change of plan. Chazz Princeton shall remain in Slifer Red," Crowler announced.

Chazz tried to argue, but Crowler cut him off, saying there was no need to thank him. Later on, Syrus was walking past the Chancellor's office when he overheard Bonaparte and Crowler talking inside. "But this makes an even better story for the press," Crowler argued. "Forget the press. If you want this school to rise to greatness, there needs to be some changes made," Bonaparte countered.

Crowler asked what he meant, and Bonaparte reminded him of his idea to get rid of the Slifer dorm, but once again, Crowler wouldn't agree to it. "Why not? It's simple. We tear down the red dorm and the whole school looks better," Bonaparte reasoned. Syrus couldn't believe what he heard and immediately ran to his dorm to tell Jaden.

"What?! Did you just say, 'tear down the red dorm'?" Jaden asked, not sure he heard Syrus right, and Syrus confirmed that's what Bonaparte said. Suddenly, the ground began to shake, and they both ran outside, fearing the worst, however, their fears were unfounded as Chazz was talking with a construction crew outside.

Jaden asked what was happening, and Chazz told him that if he was going to keep living in the Red Dorm, he was going to improve his room and make it worthy of him. Jaden and Syrus breathed out a sigh of relief, but Jaden was still worried about what Syrus told him.

He was pulled from his thoughts when Professor Drake came outside, shouting Chazz's name. Chazz asked if something was wrong, and when Drake asked him to explain what the construction crew was doing at the Red Dorm, Chazz explained they were building him a private room.

"One small problem: You never filled out the proper paperwork to alter your room. In order to renovate your room, you have to submit a request form to the academy and wait for permission," Drake informed, and Chazz offered to just pay him and say he did, but Drake said that wouldn't work and that he was going to be filling out paperwork for the rest of the week because of this.

Chazz suggested he just get someone to help him, and Drake said that was a good idea before informing Chazz he would be sitting in detention to help until it was finished. Chazz said he couldn't do that, but Drake assured him he could before advising him to come with him to get started.
