Piper was on the phone with her father who was updating her on Phoebe's progress. She was glad that Phoebe was slowly getting better, but she still had a way to go. Her sisters weren't home, Prue was on a date with Gadreel, a man she met at work.
They met when a man walked in claiming he had a rare statue made by the artist Donatello. Prue, seeing his clothes, tried not to judge him when he passed the statue to be appraised.
"The aging of this is well preserved. Hmm." When Prue examined it, she found herself getting excited. "Where did you get this?!" If she was correct, this was an authentic Donatello.
"It was made by me. I mean his student. It was in the family for generations."
"This is incredible." The statue was small, but Prue knew it was priceless. "I have to call my boss as well as some experts, but your family may be sitting on a fortune!" A real Donatello. Prue felt faint.
Once her boss walked in, he was not impressed with the find. He was looking over it with scrutiny.
"It's a nice copy. Hmm. It is dated to be from the late 1300s, but the work is different. See this?" He points to a small detail. This is signed with a language that I don't understand, Donatello wouldn't write anything like that."
"Of course you don't understand. It's written in Enochian."
Roger stopped examining the statue.
"Who?"
"The language is too complicated for you to understand." The bartender takes the statue away. "I changed my mind. I don't want this appraised. This, this was a gift from my last vessel. Donatello, he always believed in a higher power."
Roger scoffed.
"You can get a few hundred bucks I suppose. Prue, please tell this man to leave."
Once Roger left, an embarrassed Prue apologized.
"I'm so sorry. May I see that statue again?" Once Gadreel handed the statue back to her, she looked it over. "Hmm. The book in its arm carries a signature. I don't recognize the language. You said Enochian?"
"It's the language of angels." Once his eyes glowed. Prue demanded a explanation.
"You heard the news right? About my Father?"
"Who hasn't." Prue and her sisters were still stuck. "What do you want with me?"
"No angel wants to work with me. I cannot work with either hunters or witches. The Charmed Ones are the only ones that I can trust."
"Why me?"
"Because your whitelighter can't help you."
"Hmm." Prue looked at the name. "If this isn't you, what is your name? Your real name?''
"Gadreel."
"Gadreel huh. Never heard of you." His vessel was cute, Prue forced herself to be professional. "Can I ask you a question. That statue. Is that really a Donatello?"
"It was mine actually. Donatello wasn't just my vessel, he was also my teacher."
"Hmm." Even if it wasn't a Donatello, this statue was worth a fortune. "You want to sell? There's a lot of charities that could use the money." Their conversations was interrupted by Roger.
"You're still here? I thought I asked you to leave."
"He did nothing wrong. Roger, this statue. I think we should put it up for auction."
"You know Bucklands doesn't sell fake art. Call security, or I have you both escorted out.''
Before Prue could say anything, Gadreel walked up to Roger and looks in his eyes.
"You claim to be a expert, who cares about this company. But all I see a fraud."
"EXCUSE ME?!" Roger sputtered. "Never mind. I'll call security myself." Before Roger could pick up the phone, Gadreel interrupts him.
"I would tell the truth. About the missing financials these last few years. Your bank account. The IRS would love to know about those off shore accounts."
Prue couldn't help hiding her smile. Roger's face was bright red.
"It's time for lunch. Gadreel. Would you like to join me?" She smirked as Roger slunk out.
That was the start of their friendship. Before they left for lunch, he gave Prue his statue.
"I can't accept this." Prue was tempted. Really tempted.
"I have no use for material things. This thing, if you don't want it, sell it and give the money for charity."
"That's really generous of you." Prue had a few favorites, but the amount of money this would yield help for many charities. "Thank you."
What started off as a friendship slowly turned into something more. Gadreel and Prue started having feelings for one another, and agreed to go on a proper date. Prue went to Piper who has some experience with a whitelighter, asked what the protocol was for dating angels.
As for Gadreel, who was only on Earth for a short time, wasn't sure what a date was. The last time he was on Earth was when the first humans were walking around, plus his small excursions during the middle ages. So he asked Gabriel for advice.
Gabriel tried to explain to Gadreel about the Birds and the Bees.
"So I have to mate bees and birds together? And this is how humans mate. Times changed."
Gabriel couldn't help himself, he started laughing.
"Bad example." He then gave him a few books about courtship and sex. After he was done reading, Gabriel sat him down and watched modern movies. Nothing too pornographic, Gadreel needed to be introduced slowly to romance. So they watched Casablanca, A Love Story, and even watched a few soap operas.
After awhile, he seemed to get a idea on what human relationships were like. Gabriel had offered to double date, but Gadreel declined wanting to learn it first hand for himself. Gabriel did give Gadreel some flowers, he said women liked them.
Prue seemed to like the orchids Gadreel gave her, and both left for their first date. Prue wasn't back yet, Piper had assumed they were having a good time since it was after eleven.
Paige wasn't home either. She was on a school trip with her students, they had gone to Los Angeles to see where the future Olympics were going being held. She had volunteered to be a escort to get out of the house and pretend things were normal. Piper was sorta glad, she knew Paige could orb home anytime she wanted if the sisters needed her. But she hoped Paige didn't need to use her powers, her students and coworkers may miss her.
Paige had called earlier, one of her more problematic students, a male fifth grader, had attempted to prank the toilets with a cherry bomb that he seen in a movie about a problem child. He claimed that he was his role model. Paige was trying to show him a different hero, like a gold medallist.
Piper had laughed at the story. It was a long time since they were talking about something other than Phoebe's illness, Heaven, fighting, or the Apocalypse. They had a good chat before Paige had to hang up to check on her students. Sam had also called, he was checking in.
He and Dean were at Castiel's and Hannah's place, apparently they found something that could give them a edge. They had talked for hours before they were interrupted by Victor who was checking in and both had said their goodbyes and kisses over the phone. They didn't video chat this time, their friend's internet was down. They could have used their phones, but knew they would have used all of their phone's data.
After she said goodnight to Victor, she got up to make herself some tea. It's been a long time since she had the house all to herself; normally she would be relishing the peace and quiet, but she was too worried about Phoebe.
She had visited her earlier today, and was happy to see Phoebe was drawing. The staff member that was with her was a new volunteer. She introduced herself as Anna Milton and mentioned this was her first week.
Both Prue and Piper liked Anna right away. Neither knew why, something about her was so peaceful. She cared deeply about every patient there, and never once lost her smile, even to more problem patients.
So far Phoebe was doing way better; maybe because of Anna's presence. Anna had a calming presence to the patients there, most were smiling and cheerful. Even the staff and visitors.
Piper was glad about Phoebe's progress, but there was a niggling feeling about the new volunteer. Piper didn't know why, there was something about her that she couldn't put her finger on. But she brushed it off. It was her first week after all.
After her tea was done, she took her cup and went to her room. She wasn't sleepy at all yet, so she figured she'll stay up and wait for Prue. She didn't feel like reading a book or checking out her social medias, so she sat down on her chair and daydreamed.
She remembered when she saw Phoebe after she came home from college. Her and Prue hadn't spoken in months. She and Prue were at odds after Prue had accused Phoebe of sleeping with her then fiancé Roger.
It was a year after Penny died, a short time before their lives changed forever. Piper sips her tea lost in the memories.
Phoebe had vehemently denied the claims, accusing Roger of trying to kiss her without her consent. Prue, knowing how boy crazy Phoebe was growing up, never believed her and asked her to leave her and Roger alone. Telling her to grow up. Phoebe teared up at Prue's accusations and said, "whatever." She packed up her bags and returned to New York that very afternoon.
Phoebe wasn't supposed to leave for another three weeks, she was home for Spring Break. She never bothered saying goodbye to Piper, instead she left a note saying she was heading home and was never coming back until Prue was far away from the Manor.
Prue stubbornly refused to answer Piper's questions, only saying Phoebe was being Phoebe as usual. Wouldn't be her first time running away.
It wasn't until later that year that Prue caught him in bed in their apartment with their new secretary. She was understandably angry and almost strangled him with the sheets with her powers by accident. She moved out that night and came back to live with Piper again.
"Prue!" Piper was holding on to a baseball bat. "Why didn't you call!" Piper was very jumpy, her last roommate moved out two weeks ago. She was desperately trying to pay the bills by interviewing new potential tenants.
"Roger slept with his new secretary. Can I come in?" She was standing in the foyer, surrounded by her suitcases.
"Of course." Prue locked the front door once Prue and her suitcases came inside. "Wait. Roger slept with his new secretary?!" Piper couldn't believe it.
"Tale as old as time." Prue refused to cry, she didn't want to waste tears on that jerk. "Is my old room still available?"
Piper was glad that Prue came home. Piper's two roommates moved out and she was scrambling to pay the bills.
Prue was happy to be home and ignored all of Roger's calls and emails. She coldly ignored him when he showed up with a big bouquet of flowers and jewelry later that week. She told him to leave. She also gave back her ring.
"It meant nothing to me. It was one time!"
"In our bed?!" Prue spent a small fortune on those sheets, but knew she'll never use them ever again.
"I know! I was a idiot." Roger teared up. "Prue, baby. Please. Give me another chance." He gets down on one knee and holds up the red roses and diamond necklace. "I promise things will be better. I swear."
Prue admitted, she was getting weak in the knees with his romantic gesture. But seeing the small lipstick stain on his collar, hardened her heart.
"What about Phoebe?" When she saw the panic in her eyes, Prue saw the cold truth. "Go to hell." She slammed the door in his face.
Roger rang the doorbell, calling Prue's name. When Prue didn't answer the door, he left her gifts behind.
Prue refused to go outside, she was afraid to run into Roger.
Piper was startled to see red roses and a wrapped box. Picking up the box and flowers, she walked inside.
"Prue? Are these yours?"
"Toss 'em."
Seeing the name on the card, Piper dropped the flowers on the floor.
"And the necklace?" It was lovely. Looking at it, Piper guessed cost a small fortune.
"I'm sending it back."
Prue had a headache cancelling all the deposits for the wedding. She knew Roger twisted the tale of their demise, claiming he dumped Prue for being a gold digger. Prue wanted to kill him, but refused to stoop to his level. Instead kept her mouth shut, only saying she wasn't ready to get married.
Unfortunately they were stuck working together at Bucklands. Roger was her direct supervisor, and Prue was forced to work with him everyday.
"Prue. Did you do those reports?"
"Right here." Bucklands had accountants, but Roger insisted that Prue handle the books as well as appraise.
"And the inventory?"
"The red folder." Prue refused to play his game.
"Good." Roger takes the folders. "By the way, that bracelet that went missing, I told the Rex and Hannah that you sent it to be cleaned." The charm bracelet, Prue and Piper found it belonged to a missing girl. Phoebe claimed she saw a car crash in one of her 'visions' and said the bracelet was meant to reunite a kidnapped girl and her mother. She called Piper to tell Prue to NOT let that bracelet go on auction. Piper didn't understand, but trusted Phoebe's judgment. So Prue made it look that it disappeared when she sent it to be 'cleaned.' Long story short, they both found the missing girl and reunited her with her mother.
"I already told them, plus paid for it myself." Wasn't that expensive, it was engraved. "I really need to get back to work. Was there anything else?" She said with icy professionalism.
They still worked together, but barely held a professional relationship since both were always at each other's throats. Neither wanted to leave their positions, since both was vying for the job of head curator at the auction house they both worked at.
The night Phoebe came home is when everything changed.
"Home sweet home." Phoebe had fun in the Big Apple, but she was homesick. Plus she was broke. Good thing she had enough bus fare for the bus ride home. She didn't bother telling either sister she was coming home, she didn't want to admit that she dropped out of college. 'Why is the house so dark?' She smiled charmingly at the taxi driver. "Here you go." She was embarrassed she couldn't give him a tip.
"Thanks."
"Next time I call you, I'll make it up. I swear."
Why was it raining so hard? Phoebe picks up her suitcase and runs up the steps. Luckily she knew where the spare key was at.
"This weather, I swear!" Prue walked up with her flashlight. "I checked the fuse box, the stupid lights never came back on!"
"And I have to cook for my interview tomorrow!" Piper applied at the new restaurant that just opened. "I need the extra practice." Her audition was at ten am. "Jeremy sent me my port." That brand of wine was very hard to find, plus was very expensive.
"How is Jeremy?" Jeremy was Piper's boyfriend, they been dating a few months. Prue had no opinion on him, but something about him rubbed her the wrong way.
"Busy. His job as a crime reporter keeps him busy." The news these days were talking about a serial killer. Jeremy was always there first thing, he dreamed about working at CNN. Piper hoped that the power went on soon, she needed all the practice she can get.
"Mmm hmm."
"What?"
"The wine, the rare ingredients. Is there something you like to tell me?"
Piper was glad the power was out, her face was beet red.
"It's for my interview. Jeremy knows how important this is for me." Piper was wondering if Jeremy was about to propose. She recognized all the signs.
"Uh huh. Is that why he wants to take you to the rooftop of his apartment building tomorrow night?"
"Uh." Hearing the door slam, both sisters run to the door. 'Saved by the slam.'
"Piper! Prue! Hello?!" When she saw two flashlights, she asked what the hell was going on.
"We have a blackout." Prue said coolly.
"Pheebs?" Piper hugs her sister. "Welcome home."
Prue seeing Phoebe standing there was annoyed at her for scaring her, but was glad to see her.
"Welcome home." She had to force herself not to get annoyed at her, Phoebe just came home.
"Want to order in?"
Later that evening, all three had a long talk. Phoebe, once she found out Roger was cheating on Prue, never said I told you so. Instead, she asked how Prue was doing.
She apologized for doubting her sister this whole time and Phoebe had accepted her apology.
"I always thought you were too good for Roger."
"What do you mean?" All three were wearing their night clothes.
"He tries too hard to look rich. You on the the other hand could wear a burlap sack and still have more class."
Piper was glad her sisters were talking again.
Neither her or Phoebe cared for Roger. He always seemed so shady and untrustworthy, and after Piper found out what he did to Phoebe, refused his attempts at friendship, even when him and Prue were still together. Plus always was uncomfortable that he always tried flirting with her whenever Prue wasn't around.
"So what brings you back?" Piper asked. She missed her bratty sister.
"Money. Or lack of it. But that's not the only reason."
Phoebe had come home claiming she heard a Voice telling her to come home. It said all three needed to be home to open a trunk. The trunk in the attic that no one was able to open, not even a professional locksmith. They were skeptical, but trusted her judgment, since Phoebe had a knack for being right about her instincts. Like that bracelet incident.
"Can't this wait till morning?" Piper hated the dark.
"No we can't. Don't ask me why." That Voice. Phoebe never knew why she trusted It.
"Lets just get this over with." Prue just wanted to go to bed.
"I never realized how creepy it is up here." The storm outside wasn't making it any easier. Piper shivered.
They entered the attic, then realized the storm ended. There was even moonlight.
"That was fast." It was raining hard five minutes ago. Piper was glad she could see at least.
All three thought the weather clearing up was very odd, but chalked it up to the season. They approached the truck in trepidation and had brought a screwdriver just in case, but it wasn't needed when the trunk suddenly opened. Spooked, they were hesitant. But curiosity overrode their nervousness. When they peeked inside, they saw a picture of a woman that was depicted of burning at the stake, with the phrases Timing, Feeling, and The Phases of the Moon written on the scroll.
"Melinda Warren. Why does that name sound so familiar?" Phoebe puts the scroll aside and picks up a large book.
"She was the first Warren Woman. Our great, great, great, great, great, grandma. I think Grams mentioned her once." Prue heard she was accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake.
Piper picks up the scroll.
"Weird."
There was also words written in smaller letters, Telekinesis, Freezing Time, and Premonition.
"What do you think this means?" She looked at Phoebe who was reading the thick book.
"Guys, listen to this." Ahem.
"Hear Now The Words of the Witches.
The Secrets We Hid in the Night.
The Oldest of Gods are Invoked Here.
The Great Work of Magic is Sought.
In This Night and in This Hour.
We Call Upon the Ancient Power.
Bring Your Powers to We Sisters Three!
We Want the Power.
Give Us the Power."
Phoebe had insisted that all three chant the phrase together, and both Piper and Prue had complied, humouring Phoebe.
"Before we do, what is so important about this chant?" Hearing a dong from the grandfather clock downstairs, Prue knew it was midnight.
"It says here the incantation is the most powerful when there is a full moon, after a storm, and during the new equinox."
"Incantation? Phoebe, what are you talking about?" Piper was starting to regret coming up here.
"To be witches."
"Huh?"
"Prue. Piper. Didn't any of you have some strange events these last few months?"
"Not really. I got a interview at that new restaurant. Plus Jeremy and I are getting more serious."
"Roger and I are each other's throats, but that's nothing new. Wait. I just got over a cold."
"Never mind. Lets chant together. Please?"
"What the hell." Prue stands beside Phoebe.
"Let's just this over with." Piper needed to try the circuit breaker again.
When they finished the chant something happened.
Nothing.
"Well?" Piper was disappointed, she expected thunder, or a flash of light for some reason.
"I'm going to bed." Prue yawned. "Night!"
Phoebe read the words out loud again, hoping for a sign. When nothing happened, she sighed.
"Guess I'll just watch TV or something." She wasn't sleepy.
All three went downstairs, it was getting late.
"I'm going to bed." Piper had her interview tomorrow.
"Same here. Night." Before they left, all three heard a Voice.
'he Power of Three Will Set You Free.
'Remember that when you are all in danger.'
They all just stared at each other.
"You guys heard that right?" Phoebe always thought she going crazy these last few days.
"Is it just me, or did that sound like Grams?" Piper knew that voice anywhere.
"Yeah." Prue was spooked.
None of them had known what that meant, not until the next day when their powers were awakened.
What none of them knew that a figure in a raincoat was watching the house.
Piper was the first one to discover her new powers, she accidentally triggered them by freezing time when she was in the middle of her audition.
"Chef Moore? Helloo?" She panicked when he picked up her dish before she had a chance to place her sauce on it. When he didn't move, Piper used a baster to put her port on the fork. Just in time, he unfroze.
"Mmmmm. This dish." His face was in bliss. "It is exquisite."
She thanked the powers when she was hired later that week.
Prue was working at the gallery, Roger, her slimy ex fiance and boss was there trying to get a raise out her. His ego was hurt that Prue dumped him, and told everyone that he dumped her because SHE was the one that cheated. Prue was annoyed and almost quit, but decided messing with him would be more fun. She used her new magical powers to destroy his eight hundred dollar shirt and two thousand dollar jacket by causing his pen to explode in his pocket.
"Witches huh?" She and Phoebe had a talk earlier that day, Phoebe said that Book gave them their magic. She had the Power of Premonition, she guessed it was because of her visions. She told Prue she may have the Power of Telekinesis. "If you are psychic, then what am I?"
"I'm guessing telekinesis. You told me about objects that happened to fly across the room whenever you're stressed out."
"Hmm." Prue wasn't too happy to be a witch, but if it was her destiny, she wasn't going to fight it.
"It was because of ME that you are where you are. The only reason why you're not fired because you are a valuable asset to this company. Now if you may, go do your womanly duties."
Prue found herself getting angry. Then remembering Phoebe's words, she then 'accidentally' chocked him with his tie, nearly suffocating him again.
Once Roger cut off his tie, Prue recommended he stop buying fake ties from the local flea markets. She then excused herself to do her "womanly duties."
Phoebe was taking a walk later that day when she had her first full premonition.
She saw two kids playing with a skateboard. One of them was on the road and was hit by a car when the skateboard rolled to the road and he ran to the road to retrieve it. The smack of his body on the pavement horrified every onlooker watching.
When she "woke up" she was shaken. At that moment, she saw that same car coming with those same kids playing with that same skateboard. She literally sprinted to the road and managed to save the child seconds before he was hit. The asshole driver didn't even stop. The mother came running out and thanked Phoebe profusely while crying and holding her son. Phoebe was very glad she took the scenic route that day.
None of them knew what those powers meant, not till later that night.
Both Prue and Phoebe were talking about the days events. Prue was still wondering what to do now, her life wouldn't be the same ever again.
"Go to the attic, you said. It will be okay you said!" Prue forced herself to keep her emotions in check, her powers were tied to them. She gestured to the waitress for more drinks, they were having drinks at the new restaurant Quake.
"Would you quit complaining? It was Fate." Phoebe was excited. "All my life I was a screw up, now I have these cool new powers. I saved two lives!"
"And I'll be hearing that the rest of my life." Prue was so glad her sister was there, those were kids. "Where's Piper?"
"Out with Jeremy."
Prue and Phoebe sit in silence for a minute.
"How long have they been dating?" Phoebe asked.
"After Grams died. They met at the hospital cafeteria. Why?"
"Has he been pushing Piper for marriage?" Phoebe didn't know why, Jeremy made her skin crawl. And they never met.
"Piper never said a word. Why?"
"No reason."
Prue's thoughts were interrupted by Andy.
"What's Andy doing around here?" He and Prue had a on off relationship. Prue sat up.
"Prue. Thank god I found you."
"How's it going Andy." Phoebe always liked Andy, he was like her older brother. Shame he and Prue broke up. He was way better than Roger.
"I'm looking for a man."
"Really? Me too." Phoebe teased.
"What's going on Andy?"
"I'm looking for this man." He holds up Jeremy's picture.
"That's Piper's boyfriend. Andy. What's this about?"
"I need him to answer a few questions. If you see him, give him my card."
"What was that about?" After Andy left the bar.
"I don't know. But I'm going to find out." Prue gestures Phoebe to leave with her.
Across town, Piper was riding in a elevator with Jeremy.
"So what is this view you want to show me?"
"It's a surprise. Soon I'll be on top of the world." He hid his evil smile, he had to wait till they were away from prying ears.
What Piper didn't know that Jeremy was a evil warlock who wanted her powers. Like all warlocks he was watching the Halliwell Family. However, he wasn't dumb enough to near the Halliwell Matriarch and waited till her granddaughters were alone.
After Penny died, he made his move.
A Few Months Ago
Piper wiped away her tears.
"I'll be okay." They were at the coroners, all three were saying goodbye to their grandma.
"What do we do now?" Piper was devastated, she was the closest to their Grams.
"I don't know." Phoebe felt numb. She had to return to New York.
"If you guys are not up to it, I can arrange the funeral." Prue was going to put her wedding aside for now.
"Bye Grams." Piper blew her nose. "I'm gonna get something to eat. You want to join me?"
"I have to go back to work. Roger and I have a large estate sale to comb through." Working will keep Prue distracted through her grief.
"And I have to...um."
"Have fun." Phoebe always took off whenever times got rough. Piper waves goodbye as her sisters leave.
"Here you go. One bagel and a black coffee."
"Thanks." Piper takes a seat far away from everyone, she needed to be alone. Ignoring her bagel, she sips her coffee.
Bitter. It matched her mood. She saw a cute guy sitting down next to her, but she wasn't paying any attention. She was minding her own business when she saw a little girl hugging a older woman. When she called her "Granny" Piper burst into tears.
"Hey. You okay?"
"I'm fine. Just allergies." Piper felt embarrassed. "I hate hospitals." All those visits taking Penny to the heart specialists. Plus seeing her body in the morgue.
"Yeah, I don't like hospitals either. I'm Jeremy."
"Piper." Piper used her napkins to wipe her eyes. "Visiting?" Small talk, Piper hoped it distracted her.
"Kind of." He takes out his newspaper work badge. "I'm a crime reporter."
"Sounds exciting." Piper didn't care much about the news, so much violence.
"It can be." Hearing his pager go off, he hands her a napkin. "Here. Just in case." He gave her a small smile seeing her balled up napkins. "Be seeing you."
Piper waved goodbye. Pushing her bagel away, she finished up her coffee. Just when she was about to wipe her mouth, she saw a phone number with his name written on the napkin.
A few months later, she and Jeremy were driving back from another romantic dinner.
'So her powers finally awakened.' Finally. Jeremy was sick of low level witches.
He was planning on killing her with his athame, he already killed a few witches, every one crying at his betrayal. When he showed Piper his true face, she screamed and hit him with a 2x4 after she froze him by accident.
"Jeremy! Jeremy is a warlock! And he's trying to kill me!" Piper ran home, luckily she was high on adrenaline.
"A warlock?" Prue was confused.
"The Attic." Phoebe takes her sisters upstairs. "Here." She showed them a page on warlocks.
"So they get their powers by killing witches? Typical." Prue was getting a headache.
"How do we kill him?" Piper was hurt, but terrified he'll kill her sisters.
"The chant. Power of Three." It was their only shot.
"But we need to draw him here!"
"Voodoo. We'll make a doll in Jeremy's image, once he falls for the bait, we do the incantation." Phoebe read the Book of Shadows cover to cover that afternoon.
"Might as well." Prue wasn't happy about their new destiny, but she had no choice.
Once they cursed the doll, they all knew he was on his way, vengeance and hatred only existed in his heart.
It was a very tough fight, and both Piper and Prue were putting up a fair fight but were weak compared to him. He was strong since he had other powers that he siphoned from other witches he murdered. Phoebe felt worthless. She didn't have the power that they had. Then she remembered that Voice. She had yelled to chant that spell that was whispered to them before she stood with her sisters holding hands. All three chanted "The Power of Three Will Set Us Free."
They chanted that phrase three times. The Evil Warlock exploded. They were shaken but alive. They read the book, including the back of the Spirit Board of their mom's, which had a note scratched on it. They had also read the letter that their grandmother left them. The letter stated that they were known as the Charmed Ones. They were chosen to be the guardians of the innocent and the destroyer of evil and never use their powers for selfish gain, since magic was a privilege, not a right. The letter also instructed that to use the Power of Three as needed. There was another letter that stated there will be a new source of help, but won't be revealed until a later date. That was revealed to be Paige. But they didn't meet her till much later.
Then their father. There was a reason he left. Twenty years passed before they saw Victor again.
All three were in shock when he randomly showed up back in their lives.
"May I help you?" Piper didn't know who the man was at the door. She felt weird when he smiled at her. Especially the way he looked at her.
"You grown so much."
"Excuse me?"
"I'm actually looking for Prudence Halliwell. Is she here?"
"Prue is at work. Is there anything else I can help you with?" His face. Piper swore she seen him before.
"Not at the moment. I'll be seeing you Piper. Tell Phoebe to take care."
Piper was too stunned to say a word. That man. It couldn't be.
"Bucklands, Prue Halliwell speaking." Prue loved her new job and position, she managed to get away from Roger's thumb. "Okay. I doubt it, he's dead. Yea." When she saw a man knocking, she told Piper she had to go. "I have a client. Bye." She smiled pleasantly at the middle aged man. "Can I help you?"
"I hope so. You see, I have this ring. It's been in the family for years."
"There's a house curator downstairs that can help you." Prue usually worked with high end antiques and valuable accounts.
"Already checked, secretary says he's on vacation." He took off his ring. "Mind checking out my ring, it's a family heirloom."
"Let me see. Hmm." The ring was gold, twin snakes intertwined with emerald eyes. "Looks like it's from the late 1700s, but that's just a educated guess." This ring. Prue swore she seen it before. "Where did you get this?" That ring, it was given to mortals by witches when they bonded in marriage for magical protection.
"I think you know...Prudence."
Prue glared at Victor Bennett.
"Get out before I call security." She throws the ring on the table.
"I'm here on business. The Ballmark." Naming a pricey hotel. "If you three like to join me for dinner tomorrow, I'll love to see you."
"A dinner won't bring back twenty years." Phoebe and Piper were too young, but Prue remembered when Victor left for a 'pack of smokes.'
The timing was coincidental. The Sisters got their new powers, one week later, Daddy shows up? Prue was understandably suspicious.
"He's our dad!" Phoebe was overjoyed. "What did he say about us. Did he mention me?" She was only a baby when she left, but she fantasized everyday for his return.
"Don't get your hopes up. Grams always said he left for reasons. Mom died, and he took off leaving us behind a year later." Piper barely remembered him, but remembered his cologne. "Why didn't he tell me who he was?" If Piper knew, would she leap in his arms, or yell at him for abandoning them.
"I wouldn't trust him Phoebe. He never wrote, never called, never visited. Hell I don't remember Grams getting child support." Prue was still shaken by the visit.
"There has to be a reason he came back. And Prue, call him Dad." Prue kept calling him by his first name.
"He lost that privilege when he walked out all those years ago."
None of them been able to figure it out. When they confronted him later that week, Victor explained why he came back into their lives.
"You all deserve the truth." They were sitting in the Manor living room.
"You had all that time."
"Prue please." Piper needed to hear this.
Prue scoffs.
"I wanted to see you. I always had. I was just afraid that you'll always be in danger. Evil, it killed your mom, and I was afraid it'll kill you too."
"And you left to protect us? Great logic." Prue sounded angry, but was listening to his words.
"I knew you were witches. Your mom never hid that from me." Victor sighs. "You see, your grandma never liked me. She hated that I was mortal instead of a witch. She thought I would betray your mom by selling her out."
"But you didn't." Phoebe wished she remembered more.
"Of course not. I know more about magic than any other ordinary person. I never dabbled in it, but I respected it. That's probably why your mom fell in love with me." Victor remembered the first time they met. "Long story short, we got married and had you three."
"Then why did you leave if you loved mom so much." Piper couldn't help but cry.
"It's complicated." He didnt want to mention Patty's affair with her whitelighter. "After your mother died, your grandma and I fought. I wanted your powers bounded, your grandma wanted you to embrace your powers. In the end, I had no choice but to leave."
"Why didn't you fight? You have money." The Ballmark wasn't cheap.
"Not back then. I was just a salesman. When I was forced to leave, I worked my butt off to support you three."
"Then how come Grams never got it?" Prue remembered Grams applying for food stamps several times, sometimes working odd jobs to pay the bills. Plus kept getting in bad relationships to make sure they all had a father figure in their life.
"She told me she put it all in your college funds."
Their colleges were not cheap, both Prue and Piper graduated with no debt.
"What about me?" Phoebe dropped out of NYU after a year, she couldn't afford the day to day expenses.
"Remember, you didn't want to live on campus. You begged Grams you needed your own space." Prue knew first hand how expensive New York was.
"Yeah. Yeah." Phoebe never explained she didn't want to live in the dorms because of all the emotions she felt. She wasn't a full empath yet, but felt the energy.
"Then why didn't you ever write. Or visit. When we turned eighteen, you could have called." Piper was still hurt he never came to her sweet sixteen.
"I have no excuse for that. I understand if you don't want to forgive me."
Just then they were attacked by monsters. Immediately Victor was thrown across the room by the leader.
"Daddy!" Phoebe tried to run to him, but Victor screamed at her to run. "The Book!" When they transformed to the Charmed Ones, he yelled for his other two to run as well.
"I won't leave you Dad!" Prue wouldn't lose him again. "Phoebe! What is the spell to vanquish shapeshifters!"
Phoebe ran back down with the Book.
"Dad, put on your ring." This spell, it wasn't worded properly to prevent innocents from getting caught in the crossfire.
"In The Circle That Is Home
Safety's Gone and Evil Roams,
Rid All Beings From These Walls
Save Sisters Three
Heed Our Calls.''
The shapeshifters disguises melted as they performed that chant. After the third chant, all three exploded.
"EWWW." Their living room was covered in slime and blood. Phoebe hated blood.
"Dad, are you okay?" When Prue saw him on the floor. Without that ring, he'll be dead too.
"Your mother gave me this ring when we got engaged. She was always afraid I'll be caught in the crossfires."
The day he disappeared again, he left a note.
'I'm sorry to leave again. But if I stayed, you'll never reach your full potential as witches. Take care of one another, you three will change the world. Dad.'
"He left us this." Phoebe put the VHS tape in the VCR.
There was a younger Victor opening Christmas presents with his daughters.
"I remember this." This was the last Christmas before Victor and Patty split up.
"You like that Prue?" Prue got a antique statue. She always was interested in fine arts.
"Thanks Daddy. I love it." Little Prue hugs her dad.
"That explains your love of art." Piper smiled at her own present. Her parents gave her a toy cooking set.
"You always liked watching Gram's cooking show." Whenever Penny came back to town, she always watched The Julia Child Cooking Show with Piper.
"I miss that doll." Phoebe just learned to walk, but loved that doll she got. She always pretended she was her travel companion.
"Smile Victor. Girls. Sit by Daddy." Patty instructed.
"You look so much like mom." A young Patty looked exactly like Phoebe.
It was two years later that they saw Victor again.
"He has some nerve!" Prue was still hurt that he took off again.
"He apologized! He left a note!"
Victor wrote he didn't want to leave, but he had no choice. He just said to take care of one another.
Piper and Phoebe were hurt, but Prue was furious.
"Once a deadbeat, always a deadbeat."
What none of them knew that Phoebe was tracking him down. Once she did, they started their relationship once again.
"How could you keep this away from us!" Piper was hurt that Phoebe managed to keep this a secret.
"He had his reasons." Victor said he had to, otherwise they couldn't get stronger as witches. His presence would have affected their sisterly bound.
Prue just scoffed. But when she thought about it, she realized Phoebe was right.
Later that year, they were reunited for good when they were kidnapped by demons. Victor saved their lives by saving all three by risking his own.
"Daddy!" Phoebe was in trouble. Both Prue and Piper managed to escape, but Phoebe was still trapped inside.
"I'm coming sweetheart!" Never again will Victor leave his children behind. "Prue! Piper! Run!"
Victor had saved their lives when a demon had tricked them into helping into what they thought was an innocent, but was a trap. They wanted to save the children that were stuck in a void, but when they stepped through they realized they couldn't get out. There was no children. Victor had followed Phoebe by chance, and seeing that his daughters were in trouble offered the demon the knowledge of the Charmed Ones. But only if he can share the magic powers with it. The demon wasn't dumb, but it was no fool. It can see Victor was a blood relative. When he opened the door, the Charmed Ones escaped and vanquished the demon. Afterwards all four had went home and slowly repaired their fragile relationship.
Meeting Paige was another story. None of them expected to have any other relatives, other than their father's non magical bloodline. There could have been possible distant relatives from their mom's side, but both Penny and Patty were only children. Phoebe had come running in after her shift ended claiming she was contacted by a possible half sister.
"A sister? You sure it isn't a con?" They were well known to the Underworld. Plus Prue was very successful in her new career once Roger left to pursue a new job in Philadelphia.
Piper was unconvinced. It sounded way too shady.
"We been tricked before." The memories of Jeremy still haunted her.
"What makes you so sure she is real?" Prue asked.
"She displayed her powers to me. Plus she knew about Melinda."
"Warlocks can fake their magic." Piper knew that all too well.
"Not whitelighter magic."
"Whitelighter? A witch that's half whitlighter? How?" The Book always said whitelighters and their charges were forbidden to date, never mind procreating.
It was a few days later when Phoebe informed them she was absolutely convinced that the woman she was talking to was telling the truth, since she demonstrated magic that was similar to Prue's. If that wasn't crazy enough, Phoebe invited her to stay with them. They ended up arguing all night.
The next evening both Prue and Piper insisted on being with Phoebe at a neutral location instead of the manor. They agreed to meet at a local park that was sort of private, just in case something went wrong. All three brought a spells, magic bags and had a location tracker for their father just in case.
When Paige arrived, none of them knew what to expect. A pretty girl with dark hair had stepped out of the car they had hired. After the car left, no one knew what to say. Unfortunately, at the moment they were attacked by demons. It was bad timing. They were there to kidnap women for some kind of sacrificial sacrifice, maybe because of the time Lucifer was about to be freed.
None of them were prepared for the sudden ambush. Especially when there was an innocent there. It was not an easy fight. Fortunately they had come prepared and fought back. Then the unexpected happened. Paige orbed. The demons were caught of guard, and they destroyed them. After that all of them were ordered back to the manor by their Grams.
After the ghosts of Patty and Penny explained about Paige, and why she was away this whole time.
"We had no choice to send Paige away. Believe me, I fought hard with mom." Patty and Penny exchange looks. "As you and Leo know, it was forbidden for whitelighters to be romantically involved with their charges. We didn't want anything to happen to our daughter, and Sam and I had no choice."
Leo's and Piper's story was similar to theirs. The Elders frowned at Whitelighters and their charges romantic relationships, why, no one knew. Paige was understandably upset, but thinking about her adoptive parents, she never would have changed a thing.
After a emotional chat with everyone they accepted Paige in their family.
It was not an easy transition. The manor had always seemed big, but when Paige moved in it got smaller. Her stuff was everywhere. She was even more messier than Phoebe. It was a headache for all of them. But eventually they managed to adjust. They even took Paige to the attic to chant the spell with all of them. Since then all of them fought together. Leo, their Whitelighter was pleased.
Leo. He was the first man Piper really truly loved. He showed up at the Halliwells as a handyman. All of them had no idea who he really was. Piper thought he was just another guy her sister Phoebe had a crush on, but after time ended up liking him herself. No one knew his secret, he was actually a Whitelighter sent to watch over the Charmed Ones.
Leo was caught when Phoebe caught him fixing the chandelier while floating in mid air. She demanded a answer and he had no choice to explain who he really was. He explained to them what he was, their guardian and Whitelighter.
He was assigned to them to watch over them since they were children. He showed himself after their powers were awakened. Since then he guided them on what's was right and wrong. He made sure they only used their powers were good and not evil. They followed those rules, hence they lose their magic.
After awhile, Piper found herself following in love with Leo. They end up kissing after the sisters saved his life. Ever since then Leo had stepped in occasionally to help the sisters, even helping them with very hard decisions, like the possibly of losing each other.
Piper and Leo were happy, and were even discussing their future, including marriage and children. But Fate was a cruel mistress. The Charmed Ones found themselves fighting the most strongest beings ever encountered. Those beings were tough. They were nothing like any enemy they ever fought. Those beings ended up going above slaughtering the Elders in the heavens, most were murdered, except a few lucky ones that managed to escape.
Leo ended up taking a forbidden spell out of a scared locked vault. That vault was usually sealed, their most powerful spells and weapons were locked inside. The Box, a container filled with forbidden essence was inside. But when the Titans attacked, Leo had no choice but to take the essence out.
It was a powerful spell that gave them equal power to those beings and after a long fight and tons of luck they won. Then Leo found himself getting taken away to the heavens. The surviving Elders there had offered him the chance to join their ranks. Their numbers were low and they wanted Leo to be one of them. But they told him he needed to make a decision. Stay on Earth but lose his Whitelighters powers and become completely mortal. Or become a Elder and help revamp their outdated rules, train new Whitelighters, future witches and help protect the innocent. But that meant he wouldn't be able to return to Earth.
Piper and Leo were devastated. The Elders gave him a week to decide. Leo was torn. He was committed to his duties and felt like he was needed. But becoming mortal would mean spending the rest of his life with the woman he loved, starting a family, but it was no guaranteed Piper and her sisters would be safe. Not to mention, any children the Charmed Ones had will have no guardians or heavenly teachers. In the end, Piper tearfully broke things off. They cried hard, neither wanted to be apart.
"I hate this." Piper was teary. She was still a goddess, she wanted to talk to Leo alone.
"You don't think I want this?! I didn't ask for any of this!" Leo hated his new position.
"Then come home." Piper was holding out her hand, but knew it was fruitless. Both knew the answer. Piper gave up her goddess powers, her tears brought back her humanity.
They knew that they couldn't be selfish. Leo and her said their last goodbyes and Leo went to perform his new duties.
Since the day that Paige told them that there was a new enemy, none of their lives were the same after that. God was their Enemy. Not just them, all of them, The Heavens, The Underworld. None were safe. Even with their new upgrades; all four were much stronger, faster and smarter than ever before, but now they wonder if any of it was good enough. Not to mention, they were down one witch.
Phoebe was in a hospital. She saw God's Face. That sent her over the edge. All of them including their father took care of her care costs. At the moment they were hoping she'll snap out of it soon. But before that, Piper remembered meeting Sam.
Sam and Dean Winchester. Piper didn't think much of it when Phoebe had her vision. She figured they could just call 911 if they came around. The next few events changed all of their lives. They got a tip from some gossip at a Starbucks where Prue was getting a coffee. A group of college students were gushing about some "hotties" they rolled into town in a black '67 Impala. One of them claimed to be federal agents that were looking for a group of women. The girls went on on how gorgeous they were, but Prue left the shop and called all her sisters home to tell them about Phoebe's vision coming true.
Everyone of them changed their plans, and instead of just calling the police, they could perform a trapping spell. There was something off about those guys. They figured that they can erase their short term memory using magic. But what Piper felt when she answered the door made her heart flutter.
The doorbell rang. All of them were ready. Paige had put down some crystals for a magical cage, Prue was ready to use her powers to "accidentally" make them trip into the circle, and Phoebe had her cell to call 911. Piper volunteered to answer the door. When she saw Sam, she forgot to talk.
"Is everything in place?" Paige put down the crystals.
"Yep. We'll get our answers, then we'll give them the memory dust." Phoebe was ready. "Shame, they are so cute." She blushed thinking about Dean.
"Think with your brains instead of...!" Prue scolded.
"I know!"
Hearing the doorbell ringing, all four jumped.
"Is everything in place?" Piper was the one to answer the door, she could freeze time.
"Act natural." Other than Piper, the other three hid in their positions.
DING DONG!
"Okay. Wish me luck." Piper goes to the door. Instantly her voice disappeared.
Dean, the shorter one was handsome enough, but Sam was something else. Tall, handsome, and had that puppy dog innocent look. It was love at first sight.
"Hi. I uh...Um." Piper had no words. "Hi!" She squeaked. The tall one, now she truly understood what love at first sight was.
Sam was holding up his FBI Badge, but when the door opened, he dropped it.
Who was this goddess? Sam had no words.
Dean was looking back and forth between the two lovebirds. That look, he knew that moony look anywhere.
'Sam. We're on a case!' But he knew Sam was long gone.
"The hell is Piper doing?" Phoebe hissed.
"I think cupid just struck." Prue saw how they couldn't stop looking at one another.
It was Dean who broke the ice. He introduced himself as Agent Rose and Sam as Agent Hudson. He asked to come in to ask a few questions.
"Huh? Oh sure." Piper opened the door. She tried not to look, but she couldn't stop staring at that shaggy hair and cute smile. "I'm Piper."
"She must be under a spell." Prue doubted it, she knew a crush when she saw it. She waited for Piper to give her signal. When she couldn't, Prue made a decision.
"NOW!"
She waited for both to walk in the circle. As soon as they did, Paige activated the spell. A shield surrounded them, and both Sam and Dean were confused and angry. Both had pulled out their guns that contained witch killing bullets.
Piper blinked. What was going on?
"Piper! Wake up!" Phoebe yelled.
Sam was holding up his gun, but he knew he wouldn't fire a single shot. The goddess, Sam swore to never hurt her.
"Sam!" Dean yelled. Screw this. He cocked the chamber.
Before either could fire, both Paige and Prue took away their guns.
"Dammit!" Dean yelled. "Castiel!"
The witches were startled when they saw a man wearing a trench coat appear in the manor.
Paige, she stood still in shock. She saw the man's wings.
"Medusa has nothing on me!" Convinced the trench coat man was a demon, Prue tried turning him into stone. "Wha?" How?
The trench coat man looked blankly at Prue.
"Your spells won't work on me." He then freed the two men in the cage.
"What the hell is going on around here? Who are you?" Phoebe asked. She could sense none of them were demons.
"I'm Dean. My brother Sam, and this is Cas."
"We're hunters." He smiled shyly at Piper who was smiling shyly back.
"And I'm an angel of the Lord."
The next few hours were weird. Sam and Dean were hunters, that fought everything bad the world threw at them. Including demons, monsters, angels, etc.
"And you?" Paige. She couldn't stop looking at his wings. "Did we meet somewhere before?"
"And you are witches." Sam couldn't believe it. "That fights evil."
"Not all witches are bad. Unlike hunters, we keep a low profile." Piper couldn't help herself, she kept checking out Sam.
"Then what do you want with us?" Prue was suspicious of them.
"My visions. It isn't just you three. The boy. Why isn't he here?" He was important.
No one wanted to answer that. All Sam said that he was away on a case.
Sam and Dean stayed for a few days in the city. Castiel went back to do his heavenly duties.
"Well?"
"Well what?" Piper knew what Phoebe was hinting at.
"Sam Winchester. He's cute."
"I guess so. If you like the tall, moose type." Piper said dryly.
"A moose?" Ha! She knew it. Piper's face was beet red.
"He reminds me of one." Piper blushed.
"Why not ask him out?"
"Because."
"Because what?"
"Just because." Piper didn't want to tell her she was waiting for him to ask.
Piper and Sam liked each other but both were too shy to say anything. They spent so much time together, hunting, having dinner together daily, including breakfast and lunch, but neither wanted to make the first move. It was the Archangel Gabriel that pushed Sam to make the first move.
"The hell do you want?" Sam never cared for Gabriel. Especially his pranks on the brothers. He was packing his duffle, both were getting ready to hit the road. Although Sam wanted to make a excuse he wanted to stay for 'research.'
"Taking off so soon?"
"There's a case in Iowa. Dean and I have to leave tomorrow." Sam already called some hunters, he was planning on sending Dean alone.
"You're taking off, leaving a beautiful woman by herself?!" Gabriel was incredulous. "Are you as stupid as your dad?"
"Shut it Gabriel." John Winchester was no saint, but Sam always suspected he had a girlfriend somewhere. His long trips to Minnesota, the late phone calls to someone named Kate. Sam wouldn't have minded having a stepmom, unlike Dean, he wanted to have a normal life.
"Fine. But I'm warning you. You better show up at her doors with flowers and a nice suit. Otherwise I'll be sending a certain DVD overnight express."
Sam went pale.
"You're bluffing."
"Pick up the phone."
Their first date they went to the movies. The movie was bad, but talking about the movie broke the ice. When Sam dropped her off, they had their first kiss. Since then they never spent one day not talking to each other. The long distance was hard, but both made it work.
Piper and Sam took it slow. They didn't want to rush things. Piper never thought she would find love again. She thought Leo was the only chance she ever have. But being with Sam brought out new feelings. More powerful than Leo. She felt like he can be the one she'll probably marry. He was such a gentleman, opening doors, cooking for her, including potions, apparently he had a knack for magic.
"Magic. Huh. You're good. What do you call this?" Sam was showing her a spell written in Latin.
"It's a spell to exorcise demons from a vessel. Most hunters use this to get rid of demons possessing a human."
"Really?" How many people could they have saved? Sam must have read her mind, he kissed her.
"The demons that came for you have their own visages. But that may change in the future." The Underworld will start using humans soon. "Write this in your Book. Plus have your sisters memorize this."
"Is that why you came back?" Piper was glad to have Sam around, they been dating for a few weeks now.
"I need to protect you. I know someone, she can teach me everything she knows." Rowena owned a penthouse here, plus several others all over the world. She came to town to enjoy the weather.
"Be careful. She's in The Book." Hearing a cat meowing, she scolds her. "Kit! It's not time for supper yet!''
Kit gave a dismissive meow as she walks out of the kitchen.
"That cat I swear."
"Just keep her away from Dean. He's allergic."
Piper was weary, but Sam had assured her he knew what he was doing. Being a hunter didn't bother her at all. She was a hunter in a way, just she stayed in San Francisco, and Sam travelled all over the country. Their long distance relationship was hard, but thanks to Prue and Paige, they saw each other a lot. Yes their travel would be normally be considered selfish, but the powers upstairs didn't care. Maybe because they know The End could happen anytime.
Right now Sam and Dean were visiting their angelic friend Castiel. They say he found something interesting. But wanted Dean and Sam there.
A door opened downstairs. Piper got up eager to hear about Prue's date.
