The Hard World
The only sounds were beeping. The young woman's chest was rising up and down. Ugly white bandages were wrapped around her head, a oxygen ventilator was attached helping her breathe since she couldn't do it alone. The heartbeat was steady, but very weak. The doctors put her in a deep coma, chances were she'll never wake up.
Phoebe was watching with a grim expression. She never moved from her spot for over an hour. She came here everyday to see her sister, she abandoned her quest to find the Holy Grail, her sister was more important. Phoebe prayed everyday for a miracle, but nothing was ever answered. She sighed and adjusted in her seat. Her arm was in a sling, the bullet hit her left shoulder, luckily it missed her artery.
She was lucky. The medical team that operated on her told her she lost a ton of blood. So much that she needed several blood transfusions from three different hospitals. She was just released a week ago. But Paige, she was dying. Even more than Sam after the Trails.
Phoebe was hit on the shoulder, but Paige, she was shot directly on the head. No one knows how Paige survived, she should have been dead. Ty, Jared, they saved her life when they held down that guy. Why? Why would he do this? Phoebe wondered. She wondered if he was Alyssa's and Rose's stalker. She read the stories. Many psychos out there, a few celebrities were murdered by unstable people. No wonder so many celebrities had bodyguards.
She looked up hoping to see movement. Nothing. Phoebe wanted to cry.
"Paige. Please wake up. You are stronger than this. You died before, you can escape this." Nothing. Phoebe knew it was pointless, but she tried. At least the ICU unit was private. Their section was far from regular patients, this was obviously meant for special cases. So many flowers. The actors from "Supernatural" sent them so many gifts, Jared and his wife Genevieve sent them a fruit basket with a small teddy bear, Jensen and Danneel sent them a huge bouquet of orchids, Misha and Alex sent them flowers, same with gift cards from various stores. The other actors gave them nearly identical gifts, including a huge get well card signed from the entire cast and crew including Eric Kripe, Sara Gamble and Andrew Dabb. The actresses from "Charmed" sent them well wishes on their social medias, plus many random people that donated to their GoFundMe from The CW network. Phoebe was grateful for their donations, even with the Canadian Health Care, they weren't insured. At least she had a place to live, the CW Network and the Con organizers were afraid of being sued, so they gifted Phoebe a small apartment for a year. A year? Cheapskates. They should have given five years. Fuck that. Neither one was staying.
She should have told Michael off. He's a archangel, he could have easily grabbed that stupid Rock. Instead he was sending Paige to her death. Phoebe tried to ignore the hospital announcement that visiting hours were over. She kissed Paige on the head.
"I'll be back tomorrow. Don't you dare go anywhere. Love you." She hugs her baby sister. She walked out and grabbed an Uber to go home.
She wasn't hungry but she needed to keep her strength up. After she ate her dinner, she went to watch TV. The same old stories, every news station trying to one up one another with "breaking news." Of course when it is reported, it's nothing new. Phoebe changed the channel. Oh look a celebrity said something wrong or out of context? Gone. They get vilified all over social media and are forced to give a apology. She watched an episode of "Charmed." Where is Prue? She changed it. Bored, she shuts it off. No wonder people stopped watching TV. Even new shows and movies are remakes. Like "Charmed." No wonder the original actresses hated it. It was an insult to the old show. She wouldn't be surprised to see "Supernatural" in five years. But who would be the next Big Bad? Sam and Dean? She got up to watch YouTube.
She smiled at Jenna's channel. She was so sweet and funny. Phoebe and her fans hoped she came back, she quit with a tearful video for a parody video she did, it was tasteless, but she did apologize for it. Poor girl disappeared completely, hopefully she was okay.
She watched Instagram for a bit. Many people there including Alyssa, Holly, Shannon and Rose, same with Jared, Jensen, Misha and Alex. She didn't watch all their stories, she wasn't interested. Although she followed Alyssa on social media. She had a morbid curiosity about her. That sickness she had, she and her family were incredibly lucky. Glad she is okay. She clicked off the computer and went to wash the dishes.
She went to bed and was immediately texted by Ty.
'Are you alright?'
'Just getting ready for bed.'
'How's Lana?'
'Still in a coma'
'Poor girl. How r u doing?' Poor Ty felt so guilty about Paige, he said he should have gone to the police sooner. Vince was currently in jail, he was charged with multiple charges.
'Just getting by'
'Whenever you need a ear, I'll listen. Miss you'
'Me too. Good night'
'Night.' He sends her a heart emoji. Still early, but already acting like a caring boyfriend. She sends him a kiss emoji back. She puts down her phone and shuts off the lamp. As usual she prayed for Paige. She closes her eyes and tries to sleep, careful not to sleep on her shoulder.
So dark. Phoebe was hiding with everyone she was assigned to guard. Poor children were crying, their parents were either missing or fighting. Piper was halfway across the world, she was looking for the fifth Nexus. Zankou was killed by Sam, he used his dark powers to kill him when he tried to steal the Nexus' powers for himself at the Halliwell Manor. She had no idea where Sam was now, but even evil, he swore to protect his family. Paige was somewhere, she was tracking down Lilith who mysteriously disappeared. She held a crying baby when she heard an explosion. She knew this was it. She gestured for her fellow witch to take the children away, she didn't want them hurt. She was staring at her sister who just blinked in. Prue's eyes were blank. She was a slave to nothing. Phoebe knew it was too late for Prue, she already gave birth to her child. She and her sisters. They should have killed Prue years ago.
Phoebe woke up to her phone ringing. She always kept it on, she was hoping there was news about Paige.
"Hello?"
"Uh hi. Is this Chandra Lier?" Phoebe didn't recognize the voice.
"Yes. Is this about my sister?" Phoebe was planning to see Paige again. She knew she had to get back to work, that stupid Rock was still out there. But how the hell was she going to get It? Or even track It down?
"My condolences. Actually I am a reporter for the Vancouver Sun, I like to ask for a interview..." Click
If it wasn't for Paige, Phoebe would have thrown out her phone. She blocked most of the calls from the media, how they got her number is a mystery. It was too early for visitors, so she went to have a shower.
Ignoring the cheerful hosts of Good Morning America, she browsed her phone. She watched YouTube for a bit, god her and Paige getting shot was trending for days. All over Twitter she and Paige were being compared to Alyssa and Rose. Many fans were speculating they were shot by a obsessed fan, which maybe was close to the truth. But when she talked to Ty, he said he was working for Creation Entertainment and the CW for a few years. Always polite, he was well liked by his fellow employees and most of the cast and crew. He even was an extra on episode of Supernatural. He was a background extra on one episode.
As Phoebe scrolled through the comments, one fan pointed out he was a dead ringer for Carlos Sanz, who funnily enough played "Virgil." That made Phoebe think. Was "Vince" an angel? Good thing she downloaded "The French Mistake" from season six.
"Oh my god." The parallels from the show and real life were nearly identical. The angel Virgil shot and killed many people to get the key from Sam and Dean. Ruthless, cunning, he wasn't afraid to achieve his goal. The Holy Grail, he must have found out about It. Phoebe needed to see him. She quickly got dressed.
She wore her disguise, she didn't want to be followed by obsessed fans. Once she reached the Vancouver jail where Vince was being contained, she showed her ID to the guard. She was terrified to see the guy, he almost killed her. She truly hoped he was powerless like she was. Once she sat down, she waited for the guy.
She swallowed in fear when she saw him coming. He was staring ahead in a cold expression, clearly he didn't care where he was. He showed no emotion when he sat in front of Phoebe. Thank goodness a armed guard was standing behind him. Phoebe wasn't sure what was worse, his blank expression, or knowing he knew what Phoebe was looking for. She picked up the phone. Expecting him to ignore her, she was surprised to see him pick up his phone as well.
Phoebe was frozen solid in fear. But if she doesn't ask, Paige will die.
"Why?"
"Why what?" Cold, emotionless.
"You know damn well what I'm talking about."
"I am the Weapon Keeper of Heaven. That is my job."
"Shooting me and Paige? We have nothing to do with you." Vince's/Virgil's expression didn't change.
"Your right, you don't. But the Holy Grail is not meant for human hands. Read your history books."
"That has nothing to do with us."
"Really? The Salem Witch Trails, Wars, you humans kill for the smallest thing."
"Why try to kill us?"
"I have my job." He gets up and walks away with the police officer, presumably to return to his cell. Phoebe was pissed. This was a waste of time. An angel, how he got here Phoebe had no idea. She went home.
She watched that episode again. If she was real, then what if "Sam" and "Dean" were real as well? That symbol "Balthazar" made looked different than when she and Paige crossed over. It was made with different ingredients, but it allowed the spell to work. She watched season 13, archangel grace was used. However, no angel grace was in that bowl. She recalled Michael saying the door opens every one thousand years. How long it stayed open, she had no clue. She called Ty.
"So Vince, (no way in hell was Phoebe telling Ty his real identity, he wouldn't believe her anyways) how long has he been working for you guys?" Visiting hours were long over, when Ty called for a date, Phoebe said yes. She needed info.
"I hadn't worked in the show for years. I worked for one day on the set as a favour for Jensen, but other than that, I have no clue how long he has been around."
"What about security?"
"I been busy with my other projects. I try to make as many cons as I could, but other than Jensen, Jared and Misha, I'm not required to attend every event. I met Vince a few times, he seemed alright. He never bothered anyone and mostly kept to himself. I don't know why he snapped." He wraps his arm around Phoebe and kisses her on the forehead. "I'm just glad you are okay."
"My sister is still in the hospital." Phoebe closes her eyes. There was no change when she visited her earlier. She tuned out the doctors that told her she may never wake up. What did doctors know? Paige and her went through worse scrapes than this. Paige has to wake up. A bullet won't stop her.
"I'm sorry. If I wasn't too busy yapping, I'll could have stopped Vince."
"Stop that. No one knows why he did it. I'm alive, the bastard is in jail, and Paige will definitely wake up." She gotta, Phoebe refused to think anything but.
"My poor girl. Is there anything I could do?"
"Pray." She doubted Jack was God. Who was Chuck anyways? They were watching the series finale. Dean was killed by a rusty nail. After all the crap they went through. Poor Sam. What kind of ending was that? "What happened to their plans to retire as old men wasted on a sunny beach? Talk about lazy writing."
Ty chuckled.
"You weren't the only one. Everyone is divided." They watched Jared's new show, 'Walker.' It was alright, but Phoebe couldn't get into it. She did watch Holly's 'Pretty Little Liars.' It was a teen drama show, but Phoebe enjoyed it. Holly can act. Too bad her counterpart didn't act much in long term television, but looking at her latest projects, she looks like she was doing alright. Shannon and Rose were raising awareness for their charities, what they were doing clearly affected them on personal levels, Phoebe supported them 100% and made small donations to the charities they supported. As for Jensen, Misha and everyone else, she did make a Instagram to follow all of them. Hopefully one of them had what she was looking for.
"So tell me something." Ty asks.
"Hmm?" Damn. Jensen's beard. Yum. She couldn't help herself, she liked his picture. Ty must have noticed, he laughed.
"Another Jensen fan? You aren't the first. Anyways, tell me about yourself. I told you lots about me, but not much about you."
Uh. Now what. No way in hell he'll ever believe her story.
"I was born and raised in San Francisco most of my life, I have a college degree in Psychology, I have three sisters, my parents are divorced and I'm single." What else could she say?
"You sound like Phoebe Halliwell from that show." He teased. Phoebe gave him a weak smile. It was mostly true, although Phoebe refused to watch 'Charmed.' It was way too creepy for her. Cole, Prue's death, what the hell was that show about? Paige was curious, but she agreed not to watch it. Although she laughed about 'Paige's' wardrobe. She said she would be sent home if she wore half the outfits in the show when working as a counsellor.
"A lot of single women live down there. I don't mind it, I miss it." Phoebe watched a lot of San Francisco's YouTube content channels to feel like she was home. She did continue her search, a few leads, but nothing that stood out.
"My poor girl. Come here." They kissed for a few minutes, as much as Phoebe's body responded, she was too worried about Paige. She pulled away.
"I have a headache. Raincheck?" She saw the disappointment in Ty's face.
"Sure. Can I take you out to dinner sometime?" Ty asked.
"Nothing too fancy." No way can Phoebe afford it. Even with a 'free' apartment, there were utilities and other expenses, like hydro, heat, laundry, groceries, the list goes on. She had her gift cards, and donations, but she knew they won't last long. If Paige doesn't wake up, Phoebe was staying behind. No way was she going home without her. Piper and Prue will have to understand. They can find another Phoebe to replace her. Maybe she should find a job. But not until her shoulder heals.
Once Ty left, she went online to see if she can find that stupid Thing. When she felt her eyes closing, she brewed a pot of coffee. This was going to be a long night.
A few weeks passed since then. There was no change, Paige was moved to a special section for coma patients. Other than her being transferred, she never moved on her own. She was just laying there. Phoebe's shoulder was healing, although slowly, but she was due to take her sling off in a few days. Phoebe was getting bored. She was tempted to find a part time job to give her something to do. Besides that damn Rock could be anywhere. For all she could know It could be sitting in some rich guy's private collection.
"Listen to this. The Prince of England revoked his Royal Crown for love. Aww. Even Princes want their freedom. Shame that him and his brother don't talk. What is with people and their grudges?" Phoebe shook her head. "Let's see, oh wow. There is plans to plant over a billion trees, and the ozone is healing. There is good in the world. So much for Michael's gloom and doom, eh sis?" Phoebe sighed. She refused to read about bad news. Political unrest, a deadly global pandemic, giant bugs, fires, if the other worlds are ending, then this world will die a slow agonizing death. Maybe not in her lifetime, but eventually. What about her own world? Will it be snuffed out, or burned like Rowena saw? She put away her magazine. Good thing she had WiFi, Misha Collins was live on Instagram.
Phoebe chuckled at his livestream. Man he looked old. All of their counterparts did. This world was harsh, no wonder everyone looked so tired and stressed out. Gish? What was Gish? Hmm. That should keep Phoebe busy for awhile. Wait a minute. That gave her an idea. She met Misha at Jared's party, and herself, Vicky and Ty were alone in Jared's bedroom. She flushed remembering that night, she blamed the liquor. But Misha and Vicky gave her their contact information.
She waited till Misha finished his livestream. Turning off her WiFi, she used her data to send a private email to Misha. She waited awhile, she knew how busy he was. To be sure, she emailed Vicky as well, asking her to tell Misha she needed a favor.
It took him four hours to email her back.
'How's Lana?' Misha asked. Vicky wrote back that she was busy with her kids, but agreed to keep an eye out on anything unusual.
'Still in a coma'
'I'm sorry'
'Thanks. I need a huge favour'
'Shoot'
Phoebe was smiling when Misha agreed to use his social media platform to find a special rock. He gave Phoebe his special email for his treasure hunt, the newest hunt he created called "Quest for The Holy Grail: Holy Rock." Fans, even those not on Gish will send him pictures of their treasures. Nothing man made, but something Rare, preferably from nature or outer space. The winner who submits their winning picture will win a private Zoom call with Misha, Jared and Jensen. He said details were being talked about, but he said he was glad to help. Phoebe thanked him and Vicky for helping.
'Is this Treasure, is it important?'
'Trust me. I need this for my sister. Besides, I'll be helping you by sorting through thousands, if not millions of pictures' Ugh. Phoebe was already getting an eye strain thinking about it. But since she won't leave Paige, she'll bring the Holy Grail to them instead. For the first time she was glad "Supernatural" was a popular television show. Many people will be vying for a chance to win a free Zoom call from the stars.
'Okay. Do me a favour. If you find it, show me what it looks like. You peaked my curiosity'
'Done. Thanks Misha'
'Tell Lana Vicky and I and all of us are praying for her recovery'
'When she wakes up, I promise. Night'
'Night' Misha signs off.
Phoebe turns off her screen. She knew visiting hours was about to end, so she started packing.
"Paige honey. I have to go home. Misha said hello. I promise to come back tomorrow, I downloaded a few shows, like Melrose Place and 90s Jerry Springer. That way you don't have to be bored listening to the hospital noises. Don't go anywhere." She joked. No change. "I promise to be here tomorrow. Love you.'' She squeezes Paige's hand, it was cold as ice. "Don't you dare die." She whispers. Wiping away her tears, she walked out.
For the next few days she spent her time cleaning her apartment and keeping an eye on the Internet. She visited Paige as much as she could, she liked to believe Paige was walking around as a spirit so she watched TV on her tablet with headphones in her and Paige's ears. Phoebe managed to find a YouTube channel that played old reruns of Passions and All My Children.
"I can't believe I was hooked on this show when I was younger. Theresa and Gwen both deserved better than that scumbag Ethan. And Tabitha? Please. Like anything she did would work in real life." Even though Phoebe knew what this show was about, she was intrigued by the story.
She was watching Jerry Springer when a Gish notification came on.
"Finally." She paused the show. It was getting good, the woman's husband was cheating on her with both her mom and dad. It was getting messy, all four were fist fighting.
"Hey it's Misha. I hope you are enjoying the latest Gish hunt. The week is almost over. Before I announce the next Gish hunt, I like to remind everyone to stay safe. Just because we had a rough year, doesn't mean we are out of the woods yet. Keep practising sanitation methods, tidy up after yourselves and try to be nice to one another in these challenging times. Anyways, I have a announcement. The newest Gish hunt is a special one. It will be virtual and free to new entries. Instead of searching for different things, I am looking for a Special Rock. This newest Gish hunt is called Searching for the Holy Grail. No I'm not looking for a cup, just a rock, like something like the tablets from Supernatural. It has to be natural, nothing man made, even if it doesn't have writing, it has to be some born from nature, even something from outer space. Send me your pictures, even if it's from a museum, art gallery, or a private collection. The winner of the winning picture, no Photoshop, will win a private Zoom call with Jensen, Jared and myself. Enter here.''
Phoebe recorded the Instagram post, already she was seeing tons of notifications. She had a job to do. She mentally prepared herself, this will take days. She smiled at Paige who was still sleeping. She gently took off the headphones.
"Hi sweetie. Misha is helping us. I had to ask for outside help, luckily Misha is a generous soul. I won't leave you ever. However, if I find this stupid Thing, I will use that to pray. Maybe no angels exist here. Well except for Virgil, but he doesn't count. But if this Rock is divine like Leon said, then someone out there may help you." Phoebe wasn't sure. But if the Door opens, she was stealing a wheelchair and grabbing Paige and jumping. Maybe here there is no magic. However other worlds may have some. Hopefully one with friendly angels.
God. Phoebe's eyes were strained. Nothing stood out, even there were many intriguing pictures, nothing caught her eye. She should have been more specific, lots of jewels were shown. Some pictures had the Hope Diamond, another had pictures of their parents or grandma's necklaces, another was showing off their meteor collection. Phoebe did take a good long look at that, unfortunately none weren't anything special. So far nada. She needed to take a break. Luckily Ty texted her.
'Hey. How's it going?'
'Other than a huge migraine, nothing much.' Another dick pic? She blocked that guy. Lots of legit fans, but a few perverts out there. Misha mentioned he was sent tons of those, especially to Jensen and his wife on Twitter. All of those were blocked and reported.
'My poor baby.' Phoebe smiled. Their relationship was getting deeper, it was still early, but Phoebe was starting to fall in love. She tried not to think about leaving. She still didn't tell Ty the truth, but of she decides to stay, especially if Paige...No. She was getting better. Colour was returning to her cheeks. She refused to entertain the idea that the heater in the hospital malfunctioned causing everyone to sweat.
'Thanks. I'm just looking over Misha's pictures' Wow. That had to be the biggest diamond she ever saw. She envied the woman wearing it. Wonder what her future engagement ring will look like?
'How's it going?'
'Slow' It only been a few days, but after looking at thousands of pictures, nothing was ''Divine."
'I have news'
'Spill'
'I got a gig. Remember that Sci-fi show I was telling you about? It got signed. You are looking at the newest member of the cast. I got one of the leads!'
'Oh my god. Congrats!' Phoebe knew how important this role was to him. Since "Supernatural" ended, most of the cast were finding it hard to find roles. Especially long term gigs. Jared and Jensen were doing alright, same with Richard. He was a good actor, but a phenomenal director. Misha wasn't doing much these days, he was recovering from major surgery, Alexander was attending college, as for everyone else, they were doing smaller acting roles. She hoped this thing worked out with Ty, he totally deserved it.
They texted for awhile and when Ty invited her to his place to meet his family, Phoebe hesitated. He was a father, Phoebe knew that. She never dated a dad before. She wanted to be a mom, but a stepmom? She shook her head about being a snob. She had friends who were single parents who had a hard time finding dates. But what about her? If her and Ty gets serious, she had to wonder about her own future. Plus telling Ty the truth. She wrote back that she needed a day. Ty, being his sweet self, understood. He promised to make a vegetarian dinner for everyone. He was a great cook, Phoebe took lessons from him on their dates. They left their conversation with heart emojis.
"My god." It was close. But thanks to Prue, she could spot a fake. It was good, but it didn't make Phoebe sit up and take notice.
It was another week till a new email popped out. Phoebe didn't want to open it, she was sick of judging. Usually Gish contests lasted a week or a few weeks. This was the longest contest, it lasted over a month now. So far Phoebe seen everything under the sun, including pics from Yellowstone, Mount Everest, Alaska, rare artifacts from practically every site on Earth, beautiful jewels, meteor collections, even body modifications. She calculated she seen over a million already, and counting. But when she opened her latest email, her eyes went big.
She was having dinner with Ty and his family later that night. His children looked surprised seeing Phoebe, they asked if she was Alyssa Milano. Phoebe just said she was just a lookalike, but was flattered when they asked for autographs anyways. Ty dated many actresses, but most didn't last long.
Later after they were cuddling on the couch, and after game night, they were drinking the wine Ty bought for their date. Phoebe was giggling in his arms, especially when he started necking her.
"So you're ticklish in your neck. Growl." Phoebe was trying to be quiet, but she was giggling too hard. "I was watching you and Misha. Vicky and I were taking bets, which one would last longer." He nuzzled her neck, kissing it.
"We were playing Candy Crush on our phones." Phoebe protested. "Besides, Misha and I didn't have that much to drink." She sighed as Ty hit her sweet spot.
"For a half hour, I recall everyone playing strip poker afterwards. Vicky won, you lasted till your underwear, Misha and I lost everything. Then it all went downhill from there."
Phoebe's face went hot. She had wild parties in NYU, some things she refused to remember, that night phew. She read Vicky's book. Her and her husband sure know how to show a good time. Ty didn't mind, thank god Jared didn't walk in, Ty and Misha payed Jensen and Danneel to keep him distracted. Knowing him, he would have videotaped it.
"You were a perfect gentlemen." They made out for awhile. Ty gently pushed her away and asked if she would like to go in the bedroom. That moment, Phoebe knew she was in love.
She was floating in air, she made her homemade pancakes for Ty and his kids. All three raved about the recipe and begged for seconds. When Ty asked what her secret was, she said she used real vanilla extract and used a thermometer to get the right temperature for her pancakes to make them extra fluffy. She gave him the recipe, she said her mom showed her before she died, she gave her the recipe in a birthday card. Before she left, she told Ty that she had to see her sister. She had news. Ty gentleman that he is, drove her to the hospital. Before he drove away he had to tell her something.
"Thanks for the ride." She kisses his cheek and takes off her seatbelt. Before she gets out, Ty takes her hand and gives her a serious look. Phoebe, seeing his face asked if everything is okay. "Is something wrong?"
"What? No no. No. Chandra. Um. How long are you staying in Vancouver?" Ty asked.
"Honestly, I don't know." Phoebe had no clue. Paige was still sick, and that damn Rock was still out there. "Why do you ask?"
"My new job films in Vancouver, and that apartment is rented. Chandra I, have to tell you something."
Phoebe, she was waiting for this. She had to blurt out her feelings, but her policy was the guy had to say it first. She was smiling big. She was saying yes to moving in. Her apartment was far from the hospital.
"Chandra..."
"Yes..." Phoebe's heart was racing. She was staying behind. This was it.
"I'm married. My wife, we were separated, and she called while you were cooking."
Phoebe wasn't listening. Married? The bastard is married? She yanked her hand away.
"Lose my number." She opened his car door, a little too hard, and slammed it. She ignored his weak calls. Married? She should have known better. At least Misha was honest, him and Vicky were open about their relationship. She walked as fast as she could to the elevators, seeing him coming in, she rushed down to the back stairs. She hid in the linen room till he left and blocked his number. Asshole. She went to see Paige.
She tried not to think about it, but what happened in Ty's car made her break down. She started crying. She was the other woman. Maybe not intentionally, but still. She was glad Paige was in a private area, Phoebe needed to be alone. She sobbed quietly, she was ashamed. She should have known better. She cried for an hour till no more tears came out.
"Hope you enjoy those pancakes." She muttered bitterly. She wiped her tears away. "Not crying over a cheater. I am a witch, a sister, and a Charmed One." Ty can go to hell. She swore never to date again. "I'm sorry Paige. I didn't know he was married. I checked all his social media, all of them said he was single. He was divorced, so he claims. I don't care if that was his first or eighth wife. I'm never seeing him ever again. Bastard. He did save our lives, guess we even now. Just wished I didn't sleep with him or gave him mom's pancake recipe. Hope he lost it. If not, those pancakes are tainted. Hope he chokes." She wiped away her tears. "Anyways, he is gone from my life for good. About that email. I think we have a lead on the Holy Grail."
Phoebe was interrupted by a doctor.
"Are you related to Lana Lier?" The doctor asks looking at Paige's chart.
"I'm her sister. How is she?" She was holding Paige's hand, hopefully her face wasn't puffy from crying.
"I have bad news. Miss Lier..."
"Chandra." Oh please no.
"Chandra. I'm afraid there is nothing more we can do. Your sister, she has very little brain activity. We are keeping her alive with machines, but it looks like she is never getting any better. I hate to say it, but..."
"No." Ty instantly forgotten. "You are not getting her off these machines. You don't know my sister, she is stronger than this. She been in worse situations before." Paige died before, so did her sisters. Prue was in a coma, Phoebe accidentally got vanquished by her sisters, and Piper was stabbed. That was scratching the surface. Sam and Dean, they died themselves. She tuned out the doctor talking about organ donation and funeral arrangements. When he realized she wasn't listening, he walked away. What does he know? Paige was not getting harvested for spare parts. She knew if Paige dies, that was it. No Heaven, no Hell, just a spot in the ground rotting away. She needed to take Paige home. Unfortunately she couldn't. Those machines were keeping her alive. Phoebe was stuck. She only had one hope, find that damn Holy Grail. She went and opened her email and reread it.
'Hi Misha! My name is Violet, I am sending you a picture of my family's heirloom. Its been in my family for generations. It was passed down from Europe since the middle ages. It is my family's most sacred treasure. Hope this is it!"
Phoebe stared at that picture for a long time. That was It. She knew it. Even through a picture she recognized divinity. The Holy Grail. The one piece of magic on Earth. She quickly called Misha.
Hours later she made arrangements for someone to keep an eye on Paige. She lived in Vancouver for weeks and made friends with the old lady down the hall. Poor woman's husband was dying from bone cancer. She agreed to keep an eye on Paige, lying that was her great grand niece. Phoebe told her she had to check out a lead to help her family.
Misha, kind soul that he was paid for her plane ticket and accommodations to fly across country. Phoebe got permission from Violet's stepmom to verify the picture. While she sat in the plane terminal, she was reading Buzzfeed. It was a crappy website, but she was bored. She wasn't paying any attention to the breaking news story that was playing on the television in the terminal.
"Breaking News from the Vancouver Police. There is a Canada Wide Warrant for the arrest of Vincent Heaven. He is wanted in connection for the murders of four people, two were armed guards, and two police officers while escaping from the Vancouver Prison, and was charged with attempted murder of two women. He is believed to be wanted for stalking, aggressive assault, murder, and grand theft. He is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Do not approach him, instead call 911 or Crime Stoppers immediately."
Phoebe never looked up once. She was too distracted by that picture. That Thing, It can cure Paige, she knew it. She knew she was taking It, that Piece, she knew she wasn't giving It to Michael. It wasn't meant for him. She knew who Its proper guardian was. She followed the passengers to her plane, she was heading to central Canada.
Virgil was following Misha on social media. He knew Misha was friends with those witches. He never revealed what those pictures were, except famous ones. But when he said a finalist was chosen, Virgil killed two guards while transporting to another prison. Then he stole one of their uniforms and flagged down a RCMP cruiser and murdered the two cops who stopped to help. Once he killed and stole their weapons, he burned both the vehicles and the bodies. His lover was waiting, a ex guard he had affair with who was grimacing at the senseless murders. Virgil didn't give a rats ass about her, he had his mission. He smiled at the trembling woman.
"Darling, they would have stopped us. Two of the guards, your ex employees, sexually harassed and raped both men and women in both prisons, you included. He blackmailed you to keep your mouth shut and forced you into doing sexual work with them for money. Money you never saw. As for those two cops, they abused their positions of power. How many innocents did they hurt. Ten, a hundred? You read the news. It's scum like them that cause innocent people to be killed. The world is better off without them. Come on. Help me dump your car in the river. I just need to change my clothes." They were headed across the country by car. Virgil was smart, it was way too easy to fool humans, he had to get to the Grail before the witch. Then he was going home. Luckily he had a lead, he seen every contest entry, one stood out, a young teenager was showing off her room. Something in the background stood out to Virgil. He stalked her profile, that is where he saw It. He was taking It and killing everyone in that household. No witness shall live to tell that story about that Rock.

"Just give me another chance! I'm good for it!" The broke businessman pleads. The bouncer didn't care and threw him out.
"Your outta luck." He goes back inside.
Leonard Bruno sighs and picks up his coin. He was only trying to get his luck back. He was laid off, his girlfriend dumped him, and he lost his dog. He just needed a streak of luck. Just his luck his glasses were broken. Too bad there was no guardian angels to help him. He didn't see that semi.
