"I'll have your order out 'ere in a minute, guys," Gideon said from behind the counter.

As he went back to another room within the cozy building, Nick and Judy waited at the table. Joining them in another seat was Sharla, one of Judy's long-time friends, who decided to stop by and catch up with then at the bakery.

Judy and the sheep continued their conversation, and Gideon came strolling with a little wooden tray in his paws. On it rested several a large white plate with a pie that was fresh from the oven.

The portly fox set it down on the table the three were seated at, cutting into several thick slices and placing them in to each of them.

Nick looked at the slice of pie quizzically upon seeing that there was tiny numbers made out of pie dough on the crust of it. "What do we have here?" he inquired.

"That 'ere's somethin' new we thought we'd add t' the menu," Gideon replied. "This what ya call a 'Pi Pie.'"

There was a temporary silence between those seated around the table. Sharla look over at Nick and Judy before started to laugh, place her mouth with a hoof to cover up the giggling. "It was an idea I had, so I told him it'd be something he could try," she told the fox and rabbit. "You know, since it's a pie with the number pi placed across it."

"This reminds me of something," Judy said to Sharla. "You remember that kit in middle school that knew pi to, like, the twentieth digit or something like that?"

The black sheep responded with nod of her head. "Abel was his name," she replied as she recollected what her friend was pertaining to. "I remember Bobby always thinking that he was a showoff 'cause he knew that."

Nick was the first to dig into the pie, and the look on his face was one of delight upon tasting it. "And the taste, if I do say so myself, is pretty mathematical," he joked, grinning at the use of his own pun. He looked at Gideon and then over at the two sitting near him. None of them were laughing alongside him at the joke. "What, too soon? Oh well."

"I dunno too much 'bout all that science stuff," the baker standing in front of them said, "but I thought Sharla's idea was purty neat. Gave me a chance t' try out these number-shaped cutters I had back in the kitchen." He let out a hearty chuckle. "Just when Travis was telling' me they weren't gonna be used for anything."

"Hey, I got another math joke for you guys," Nick said as something better came to his mind in that moment. "You ever hear about the guy who did geometry for exercise?"

"It kept him in shape," Judy and Sharla said in unison, finishing the tod's silly quip before he could fully tell it.

Nick snickered at this, wondering if his jokes were becoming that predictable. It was probably best, he thought, that he sharpen his joke-telling skills then.

Author's Note: Hey there, everyone! With today being Pi Day, I decided to come with a short story in the spirit of this observance. I wasn't sure wat I was going to write with the concept in mind, but then I came up with the concept after seeing an image of someone who baked a pie with the symbol of pi on it. No joke, that was what made this story idea fall into my head. XD

I know that this was a pretty short story this time around, but hope it was an enjoyable read. As always, your thoughts, whether good and bad, are always gladly appreciated. I've got some longer stories that I'm going to be sharing with y'all real soon.

'Til next time, everybody! And happy Pi Day! :)
