"All done," said Judy as she walked out of the store, carrying the brown paper bag of produce as she walked out of the store.
As he heard the chiming words of the rabbit, Nick flipped the little magazine he had been reading from, moving over an inch on the bench that sat at the entrance to the shop. "Got all of the veggies we needed?" he inquired.
Judy nodded her head and responded, "Sure did. They had much better produce out today than they did last week."
"That's good," replied the vulpine beside her with a slight smile as she set the bag down in front of her and sat on the bench alongside him. "How about the avocados? They look any good today?"
"Sure did. Matter of fact, I bought a couple of them because of that. Those things are pretty hard to pick, though."
"Yeah, they are," Nick agreed with a slight chuckle. "It's like they're not ready to eat yet, then they're perfect at a certain time, but if you're not quick to make something with it then it'll be too late."
"Couldn't be more truthful than that," Judy laughed, knowing what he was saying firsthand from experience with preparing that particular thing before. "It's just like picking the perfect melon. You do everything right—make sure it's the right size, give it a tap like you're supposed to, inspect it up and down—and you bring it home only for it to be yucky." The gray bunny looked over at her fox for a brief moment and noticed the magazine that he was still holding onto. "Found some reading material while you were waiting, I see?" she asked.
The tod reopened the small issue back on the page he had been scanning across just before she came back outside. He handed it over to Judy for her to see what exactly it was that he was reading about.
"I got this out of that little brochure box over here," Nick said. "It was the last one they had stocked in there so I thought I'd go ahead and read it."
The fox was reading from a magazine that consisted of real estate advertisements, displaying homes and apartments that were for sale or rent that were within the area. Judy glanced at some of the photos that belonged to the listings, she noticed that they were all from homes that seemed large in size and had fancy decorations.
"Gosh," the doe said to herself, "some of those houses look really nice inside."
"Some of 'em are on the expensive side, though," Nick responded. "Those ones are pretty close to the beach. I'm sure it probably takes a fortune to buy property that's only walking distance from tourist attractions."
"Yeah, I agree with you on that," replied Judy. "It don't hurt to just look at them and think about what our dream home would look like, though."
Nick then turned his head over to her and asked, "What's your dream home, Carrots?"
"Well, I guess I'd look for somewhere that was spacious and had a big dining area for when we have friends over for a party or the holidays. And maybe a big yard where I could set up some boxes and make a nice vegetable garden."
Her fox nodded and smiled at the image he got of her dream home. "Nice," he responded. The vulpine thought on the subject they were discussing for a moment. "Huh, guess I'm not exactly sure what my dream home is. I think I would probably just go for somewhere that didn't need a lot of repairs done to it."
"But let's say you didn't have to worry about that or what the price of it was," the bunny said. "If we ended up hitting the lottery for a huge amount of money, what would you do? I know the probability of that scenario isn't exactly the highest, but where do you think you would want to go?"
The fox paused for a moment and shrugged his shoulders. "To be completely honest, Fluff," he answered, "wherever I'm with you is the perfect place. It don't matter where we live or what our house looks like. As long as I have you, Fluff, that's all I need."
His response to the question might have sounded cheesy when he said it, but it was the honest-to-goodness truth. And shortly after he said this, the smile he loved to see the most formed naturally across his bunny's face.
