Nick hummed to himself as he made his way down the steps, another spectacular morning welcoming him as he saw the sunlight peeking in through the front door. Just from the amount of cheeriness he could see in the skies from the windows nearby, he already had the feeling that today was going to be another spectacular one before he even got ready to take on whatever came about. Straightening his tie and adjusting it to be a bit tighter than it was at the moment, he became eager to see what would come about throughout the morning once he and his bunny got down to the precinct later.

The fox smiled merrily as he walked around to the dining room to see where she was at the moment. In a sing-songy voice, he started to say, "Such a nice-"

Commotion arose from the nearby kitchen, loud clanging and sighs made by the bunny being what his ears were greeted with just then. "Sweet cheese and crackers," she muttered in a seemingly disgruntled tone.

With the peacefulness stirred in that moment, Nick's face changed to the concerned kind and he went on over to see what was going on. He quickly stepped in to see that the doe currently had her paws full. The stove had a skillet sizzling loudly as an egg fried inside of it, and to the side of it a teakettle whistled hoarsely and informed her that the water inside of it had come to its boil. With the quickest instincts that came natural to her species, she reached for the kettle and placed it aside on an unheated burner, keeping an eye on the egg to the side to see how it was cooking.

"How did I let this happen?" she was continuing to mutter to herself rapidly, speedily heading to the cupboard on the other side of the kitchen and grabbing two coffee mugs.

It was for a brief second that Judy looked back at him with worried eyes before her attention returned to everything. She poured the hot water into the two matching mugs before grabbing a measuring spoon and placing a teeny amount of coffee granules in each, stirring it quickly like she was on one of those cooking shows they watched where food had to be prepared and plated within a short period of time. The sizzling grew louder in the skillet that she had almost forgotten about, and her ears drooped before she ran back over to it.

"Shoot, shoot, shoot," she said. She reached for the spatula and carefully tried to flip the fried egg on its other side, only for the perfect yellow yolk to break upon her doing so. A sigh arose from her once again as she continued to cook, placing the egg on a plate to her side.

The vulpine was quite confused by her being in such a distressed mood and wasn't exactly sure what had come about for this feeling to come over her, considering she never let anything get to her even during a tribulation like he did. "Judy?" he inquired with concern. "What's wrong?"

"Well," she started to explain hurriedly, "I quickly realized what time was on the clock when I woke up this morning and that put a wrinkle in everything. We were supposed to both be getting ready to get down to the ZPD an hour ago, so now I gotta-"

"Uh, Carrots?" Nick said as she carried on, raising an eyebrow once he realized what she was pertaining to.

"Never have I let the time go by like this since I joined the force, and now I'm gonna make us both late," Judy continued frustratedly.

"Carrots?"

"And you know Chief Bogo's going to be really upset when we're both late for roll-"

"Carrots," he interrupted as he held a paw up, getting her attention. "The time's wrong."

Judy looked back at him as she walked up holding the plate with egg she had made for him on it. "What?" she asked in a softer, less hurried voice.

"Yeah, the time change, Fluff," Nick replied. "We just didn't turn some of the clocks out here back an hour. We're not late at all."

"So, I just saw the wrong time," the gray rabbit said to herself, breaking out into relieved smile. She sighed with contentment and held a paw up to her chest, starting to laugh at her own unnecessary worry from a short moment ago. "Gosh, I am very happy that's the case. For a second there, I was already anticipating Bogo's response for us being extremely late for duty."

"Yeah, that wouldn't have been fun if that were the case," the fox chuckled in reply.

"Go have a seat at the table," Judy replied as she went over to the dining room with the plate and set it down there. "I'll bring us some coffee I made."

With that, Nick made his way over and sat down, digging into the fried egg and taking a bite. Judy came back over with a cup of coffee that was made just the way the two of them liked it, setting her own cup down and taking a seat next to him. For a short moment, the room was still as she reached for her mug, took a long sip from the roast, and looked back at her fox.

"We're gonna have to turn some of these clocks back an hour," Judy said informatively, setting the coffee mug back down on the table. "Maybe later in the day."

"That's for sure," agreed the fox with a nod of his head.

"I could've sworn I changed the time on that alarm clock before bed. I guess I was just so tired last night that I forgot to do it." The rabbit looked over to her side and saw the view out the window, the sunshine smiling down on the houses around the neighborhood within her view from where she sat. "So, now that we have another whole hour 'til we have to get down to the precinct, what should we do now?"

Nick finished the last bite of the fried egg, setting his fork down on the plate and turning to look over at Judy. "Why don't we head on out to the back porch and go have the rest of our coffee out there?" he suggested. "It's such a nice day out."

"Yeah." Judy nodded in agreement. "I needed to water the plants outside anyhow."

"Then that's what we'll do. Oh, and I'll be sure to grab that paper in the driveway before we head out for the day as well." A few seconds later, the tod arose from his seat and pushed his chair back in. He outstretched a paw invitingly like a gentlemammal and looked back over at Judy with tender eyes. "Shall I lead the way, miss?" he remarked in a jokingly chivalrous-sounding voice.

"I know the way," Judy laughed softly at his banter. She reached forward and placed her paw on top of his, slowly getting up from her seat with her cup of coffee in the grasp of her other paw. "But I would very much love to walk with me and lead me there."

"Then we shall take a little stroll, Fluff," replied Nick with a grin.

It was cheerful laughter that came from both mammals in the room as they stepped away from the dining room. They leisurely ambled towards the door that led to the back porch of their home and stepped outside. The breeze that was blowing in with the changing seasons was both pleasant and welcoming, and a flock of small birds could be seen flying up from the ground and onto the fence in between their house and the neighbor's.

The confusion from earlier about the time might have been an embarrassing thing in her mind, but Judy had already placed it behind her and was grateful for the opportunity to spend another peaceful hour with Nick before their job started for the day. As she listened to the wind blow and the birds chirping back and forth in their own language, she sat back in the chair only a few inches away from his and felt completely relaxed.

Getting to spend a beautiful morning with my fox, she thought, smiling wider as the two reached for each other's paws and intertwined them. What could be better?
