"Why did you bring me?"
"Cause they might need help. Even though I could do it all myself…"
"I ask again, why me?!"
Zoro growled angrily as he carried bags beside Sanji, who was in a similar predicament, not that he mined of course.
"You'd rather we put it all on poor Sanji? He's already so much for us, he deserves a break from the work we put him through."
Nami explains with a cheeky grin.
"For you Nami, Robin, I'll go through hell for you~"
Sanji swooned making Zoro reel away from the chef disturbed.
"Would it make you feel better if we treated you to drinks afterword?"
Robin asked with a knowing smile. Zoro sweated anxiously before seething.
"Fine…"
"Oh to drink with such beautiful ladies~ What an honor~"
"Is this how you always are with them?"
Zoro glared at the lovestruck cook who turned to him with a snarky face.
"Maybe if you appreciated women more you'd be just as excited as I am."
Zoro fumed back.
"What you call appreciation is just you being a creep… maybe even a desperate creep…"
"What? Dumbass they are treasures! Queens who deserved to be worshipped! No wonder you never get any bitches."
"I have a goal, and would rather work toward that then waste my time trying to get in some chicks pants!"
"You moss for brains its not all about sex!"
"Says you pervert!"
Zoro grins confidently as Sanji is now the one fuming.
"Come here!"
"I'm right in front of you dumbass!"
The two start a scuffle in the middle of the street. Nami watches from the sidelines exhausted while Robin finds the bonding between them to be quite humorous.
"Maybe Usopp was the better choice…"
"But then we would've have such good drama~"
Robin chuckles, Nami groans rubbing her forehead.
"You have fun then, just make sure they bring everything we bought back."
Nami waved as she walked away from the scene. Walking off she glances through front store windows, seeing fabulous jewelry, rich coats, delectable cakes and pies. She licks her lips finding herself a bit hungry.
"I don't think they'll mind if I eat first…"
She said with a snicker as she walked into the store, more accurately a small cozy restaurant. But what should've been cozy was filled with loud munching and chewing. She found the place practically empty besides a few staff who kept bringing in cakes and pies. She growled furiously and stormed toward the table covered in dishes and deserts. The one going through the food like breathing air, ate away. The manager stood beside him with a cheeky grin watching the man scarf it down without a second to lose. She approached the man first and glared at her Captain, who has yet to see her.
"Excuse me! How much is this costing?"
The manager turned to her with a raised brow.
"Are you with him?"
"Yes, now… price!"
She glared startling the man to speak.
"Currently…."
He counted with his fingers nonchalantly.
"1,000,0-"
Before he could finish the woman sluggled him in the jaw knocking him out in a single blow. Luffy froze as he watched the man fall unconsciously. Nami looked to him with a guilty look before glaring down at her Captain who begun to sweat bullets.
"We're leaving."
He nodded without a word. She then grabbed his wrist and ran out the door with him behind her. She kept running and running, he followed close behind. Stopping to breath, she noticed they ended up in a forest, the sound of a town no longer heard.
"Wow! You just sprinted out the door! After punching him!"
Luffy replicated her sucker punch with sound effects, clearly amazed by her act. She inhaled deeply.
"You idiot!"
She replicated the punch on Luffys face prompting him to fly straight into a tree.
"I can't fucking believe you! What have I told you about money! We can't just buy whatever we want! We need to use it sparingly! Like buying food for the journey, medical supplies, new clothes to replace our torn ones!"
He rubbed his face as he sat up with a whimper.
"Sorry…"
She groaned exhaustively.
"I just punched a man…"
"Yea! It was super cool!"
He laughed boisterously, his warm and careless attitude making her furious again.
"Do you not care that much?"
She growled. He stopped laughing and looked to her blankly.
"What?"
"About our money! You seem to think we have an innumerable amount! Yea we're pirates! But we're also better than that! Why do you spend our money on waste you scarf down!?"
He stood up with a annoyed sigh.
"Money is too complicated… besides I'm sure I would've paid him back somehow."
He chuckled, his lack of care only made her angrier.
"Some people don't give a shit about working it off! Money is the way of the world! Maybe if you cared more, we would have more to splurge on things you want."
"It's just a little piece paper…"
He mumbled irritatingly.
"Is it? Really?"
She snapped.
"This piece of paper! Bought your clothes! Your food! This piece of paper, bought materials to repair our ship! This piece of paper paid for all of our medical supplies to keep us alive!"
She began to yell. But seeing the uneasy look on him she reeled back. Sighing painfully.
"It's more than just a piece of paper…"
She glared before walking back the way they came. He scratched his head with a whimper and crouched.
She sniffles walking out from the forest. She walked toward the direction of their boat and happen to catch the ending of Zoro and Sanjis scuffle. Both huffing and scuffed from their fight.
"Did you have fun?"
Robin giggled. Zoro looked away with a sigh.
"Whatever…"
"Sorry for that unsightly display Robin."
Sanji coughed fixing himself up.
"Nami! Did you see me win~"
Sanji waved before getting shoved by Zoro.
"Like hell you won!"
"God your such a sore loser!"
As the two started shoving each other Robin turned to Nami, who noticed her sorrow demeanor.
"Did something happen?"
Sanji and Zoros fight paused as Sanji looked at the two. Nami saw the worried on her friends faces and sighed with a small smile.
"Yea, I'm fine. But we should probably head back. Got into a little trouble."
Robin nodded understandably, but Sanji got between the two anxiously.
"What happened Nami?! Did someone try something?"
Sanji furrowed his brows angrily. Nami sighed feeling tired but only gave a shallow smile as she waved him off.
"I'm fine. It's stupid. You know how some guys can be."
Sanji was about to make a stupid claim but Zoro shoved his hand over the cooks face.
"Great, let's get the fuck out of here."
Zoro pulled Sanji away by the collar, leaving Nami and Robin to follow behind the two.
"It doesn't seem like nothing."
Robin spoke up. Nami planning to just dodge her claim felt the woman's finger just graze under her eye. She turned to her friend seeing her hold a tear on her finger.
"What really happened?"
Nami groaned, having fully realized she couldn't evade her friends worries anymore.
"It's… our stupid Captain! He went trying to spend our money again on pies and cakes! I've told him countless times before he can't do that! But nope! There he goes being a idiot and trying to make us broke!"
Nami huffed furiously, hearing Robin chuckle at her captains antics.
"As much as I believe your claim, I don't think you'd be near crying if he just went and spent more money."
Nami really didn't want to elaborate so she just turned to look ahead.
"You know him… he doesn't give two shits about money."
Making it back to the ship the four are greeted by Chopper and Franky. Jimbe comes out to assist with the bags and Brook starts playing a ditty he had been practicing all day. Nami looked around and couldn't help but notice the lack of an idiot.
"Where's Luffy?"
The one who asked was Robin getting an anxious glance from Nami.
"He left a few hours ago. Usopp offered to go find the dork. So me and Chopper were waiting on deck for him to come back."
Robin hummed curiously before taking a brief look at Nami who just happen to notice and growl back.
"We aren't leaving. If he wants to go camping who are we to stop him? It's not he cares about time either…"
She fumed walking off deck to her bedroom.
Luffy groaned as he paced back and fourth, ruffling his black hair.
"I'm sorry?"
"Forgive… me?"
"Apolo… ugh…"
He groaned rubbing his face.
"Why did she have to say that!"
He shouted kicking a small rock. He huffed and crouched, covering his face.
"Your not just a piece of paper…"
He mumbled lifting his head to look at the sky, noticing the sun setting he stood up.
"I should go back…"
He started walking before hearing this weird warpy noise. Like space and time getting sucked down a drain but in reverse. He didn't even know that could sound like anything but then came the sound of a grunt and a thud come from some bushes behind him. He turned around seeing a bush rustle, small pained groans coming from it. He cautiously put up his fists and waited. The sounds of pained grunts made him a little less anxious. But a figure suddenly stood from the bush. He paused momentarily, tilting his head as he looked over the tall man.
"Whew, thank god I still have all my clothes."
The figure groaned and stepped out of the bushes. The two stared at one another and the figure groaned.
"How could I forget…"
"Who are you?"
The figure blinked and groaned ruffling his black hair.
"Crap. You seriously don't know who I am?"
"What's that suppose to mean?"
"Just look at me?!"
Luffy gave the man another once over and shrugged.
"You look an awful like someone I know…"
"You dumbass! I'm you!"
"What? You aren't me! I'm me!"
"No! I- I'm you! From the future!"
"Me.. from the future…? But you look nothing like me."
The older Luffy turned away and clutched his face.
"I don't remember being this stupid…"
"Well if your me! Then why are you calling us stupid?"
The older Luffy turned back.
"Well… aren't we?"
Luffy paused and sighed.
"I guess you really are me."
"That's what it took? No… whatever."
The older Luffy turned to him with a grin.
"I've come from the future…"
The two stared at each other before totally gasping in amazement.
"You came here from the future?!?"
"I actually came from the future! To me my younger self!?!?"
"AWESOME!"
The two rubber men bounced around excitedly.
"Whoop whoop!"
"This is the coolest thing ever!"
"Right!!"
The two stopped and took a deep breath to calm down. The older Luffy coughed.
"Anyway… I came from the future to save us!"
Luffy frowned worriedly.
"Save us?"
"Yes."
"From what?"
"Ourselves…"
Luffy stared disappointingly. Older Luffy also looked a bit disappointed, then promptly slapped Luffy in the face.
"Ow?! Wha-?"
Before Luffy could exclaim Older Luffy then slapped himself, wincing in pain.
"What the heck was that?!"
"For being such an idiot!"
Luffy pouted and lowered his head.
"I think you know why I'm here."
Luffy nodded at Older Luffys claim.
"At first I was gonna help from the shadows, cause, believe it or not, it took us a while to fix this mess."
"How long?"
"Too long for me to count. So I just came to fix it, so we can get to some of our wondrous years early."
Luffy rubbed his arm nervously. Older Luffy grinned at his younger self.
"Hey, I know how you feel. You love her, you obvious didn't mean to say she was useless. And to be honest, how were we suppose to know at first."
Luffy nodded sorrowfully.
"But with me here, I promise we'll fix this. After all the only person who knows you better is yourself. And two heads are better than one."
Luffy stared at him starry eyed before shaking his head and nodding confidently.
"Ok, so how do we fix this?"
"So the key thing is to get her to open up to you. Right now, we're blocked by a pretty thick wall, we need to bust it down."
"Ok. How?"
He asked again.
"You need to act like her for a bit."
"Act? Like her?"
"Be kinder, consider how other people would feel. And most importantly, make good choices."
Luffy nodded like he understood, having got the gist he stuck out his chest proudly.
"I see it now."
"We'll talk about what to do after she starts talking to you again."
"How long are you gonna be here."
"Hopefully until you can get her back."
"Hopefully?"
"Well… I'm sure someone will be coming to bring me back eventually."
"So I gotta do this fast?"
"You unfortunately don't have a set speed. Certain choices may affect her differently."
He pouted.
"Cmon, you'd do anything to get her back won't you?"
Luffy nodded.
"Then deal. She might cling to Sanji a bit, and don't make it obvious your changing yourself just for her."
"Y-Yea…"
"Start off rocky and get better overtime."
"O-Ok…"
"And make sure she can hear and see your good deeds."
Older Luffy head a plop and looked down seeing Luffy looking all dizzy.
"Luffy? Me?"
He gently poked his younger self getting no response.
"Was I always this dense?"
While Luffy was passed out he quietly carried his younger self back to the streets of the town and, after hearing Usopp calling for Luffy, he tossed Luffy out in front of him and quickly hid on top of a roof. Usopp picking up Luffy, worried for his health, carried him back to the ship.
"Remember Luffy… what we talked about."
The next morning the crew stared in shock and awe as Luffy tried desperately to calm down his eating, using a fork and knife. The Strawhat sweated furiously as if he was walking a tightrope.
"L-Luffy? D-Did you hit your head?"
Usopp asked anxiously sitting beside him. Luffy turned to Usopp with a serious face and cheeks full of food. Usopp squealed at the scary face his Captain had.
"I'm just fine!"
Luffy claimed as he continued to eat. Stabbing his food with a fork before putting it in his mouth, chewing slow. Zoro shivered and walked out the room. Robin turned to glance at Nami who ignored the captains weird behavior.
"Chopper, maybe give him a check up after he's done."
Franky suggests getting a worried nod from Chopper.
Later Nami and Sanji were walking through town and had him carrying a big bag.
"So that dolt ate food and didn't pay?!"
Sanji exclaimed angrily. She rolled her eyes just being reminded of it, being somewhat embarrassed about have punched the man as well, but she didn't want to tell Sanji that.
"Don't even remind me. Let's just get this over with."
"Do you think his little stunt this morning was because he felt bad?"
She didn't know, in fact she cared so little she didn't even realize what the big deal was, he was eating with utensils, so what?
"Hell if I know what he's thinking."
But as they walked up to the restaurant she looks through the window seeing Luffy mopping the floors and getting yelled at by a man holding an ice pack to his face.
"Luffy?"
She narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
"This is so unlike him, and he's not even mopping right! That idiot-"
He was about to walk in but she stopped him, pulling out of sight from the window. His sudden chance made it all too obvious what he was doing, he was trying to apologize.
"Nami?"
She looked at Sanji who looked down at her worriedly.
"Just leave him be. He's working it off, no need to give them anything."
She sighed walking back, he followed behind her. Pouting quietly as she glared toward the ground.
"You dork…"
Nami walked onto the deck after a shower, planning to just relax and drink she walked toward her seat. Noticing her friend wasn't in her usual spot she looked around before finding Robin and Jimbe staring off the deck. She walked up beside them and look down at the dock to find Luffy helping an old man get his supplies on his boat, even assisting some of the dockworkers with loading the fish he had brought back.
"Nami, I don't know what you did. But this is some development."
Robin smiles glancing at her friend. Nami narrowed her brows.
"He just wants something, why else."
She muttered, knowing it was an obvious lie.
"I think he wants your attention."
Jimbe spoke.
"Drama~"
Robin teases nudging Nami's shoulder.
"First he went fishing with him, then brought back much more than they had before. Then helps unload it and even goes back out with him."
"Maybe he's taking your virtues to heart."
Nami sighed and rubbed her face.
"Did I go to far…?"
She asked herself, rubbing her wrist.
Later she sat waiting for him to come back to the ship, but he didn't show. Sanji came out and glanced at Nami who was curled up like a ball and stared at the stairs to the ship.
"Nami?"
He called out seeing her eyes look to him.
"Dinners just about done…"
He spoke calmly.
"Ok."
She murmured turning to look back at the stairs. He sighed and sat on the end of her chair.
"Maybe… this is good?"
She looked back at him. He gulped, blushing.
"He's always been a bit selfish… some humility would… be good? Don't you think?"
She groaned and looked back at the stairs. She knows it isn't about that, he's trying to get her attention, trying to show he's sorry. Trying to show he cares. She just wanted him to realize how integral money was… how integral she was. It like he never cared for her advice on money and how to use it, him having to be reminded every time they went to a new island made that clear.
"He's an idiot…"
She growled.
Before he could speak the sound of space time going down the drain could be heard from the hallway. Both stood and found the light completely disappeared. A lone figure was kneeling in the hallway. They stood and patted themselves down, sighing relived.
"Who are you?"
Sanji stood in front Nami, shielding her. Nami could only stare absolutely astonished.
"Wow, I'm hurt. To think you would say that to me."
Sanji rose a brow confused but was soon gently pushed aside by Nami.
"Nami? What are-"
Nami gulped and stared at the figure who looked back with a smile.
"Well don't I look beautiful~"
From the shady hallway came an Older Nami, who gave a once over her younger counterpart who could only stare in awe.
"How are… how is…"
"I know you have questions but you'll find out in… 20 years or so."
Sanji was absolutely flabbergasted.
"T-T-Two?!! Nami's?!?!"
He muttered before falling backward. His bloody nose running.
"So why are you here… m-me?"
"Yes I'm you from the future, blah blah time travel. I'm just here to correct something."
Nami's eyes widened.
"I'm sure you've seen that dork being all sweet?"
Luffy huffed as he leaned against the wall of an ally. Older Luffy dropping in front of him with a cloak.
"Its the first day! Your looking real suspicious."
"What?"
"She knows! The whole point was to make it seem like a natural transition!"
"Listen! I didn't pay attention to everything! I heard be nicer, help, and mind those around me! I did all that. It felt pretty good though."
Older Luffy sighed.
"Well, you rushed it, but I think she's willing to talk."
"Ok, so… what do I say?"
"You tell her she was right and how sorry you are."
"So… just apologize."
"Don't forget saying how she right."
"Why?"
"Cause saying that usually makes them more susceptible to listen… especially her."
Luffy scratched his head and groaned.
"Maybe I should've just apologized…"
"As much as I wanna believe you. We tend to let our actions speak for us."
Luffy looked up at him and older Luffy grinned.
"We can't talk for shit. But… we can show her how much we care. I'm sure she'll understand. But right now, after all that show, now you tell her your sorry. I'm sure she'd feel better knowing you went this far for her."
Luffy nodded and took a deep breath.
"You got this man!"
Older Luffy held out his knuckles, Luffy smiled and gave him a fist bump.
Luffy ran back to the ship, he could hear his older counterpart hopping from roof to roof. He stops at the bottom of the stairs and takes a deep breath. He wipes away his sweat and walks up the stairs. Making it too the deck he paused. Two strangely similar looking women sat chatting together. He blinked and was about to walk backward before he rammed his heel into the railing.
The two women turned their gaze to him. And he reconfirmed that both of them look extremely similar.
"Luffy…"
Nami groaned. Older Nami turned to him with a smirk.
"Well look at you~"
Nami and Luffy watched confused as she stood. The older Nami approached Luffy and leaned down to meet the boy face to face.
"Look at you, your so innocent~"
She pinched Luffys cheek.
"A-Are you…?"
"Nami?!"
A loud voice of shock ran out as a loud thud landed in the deck of the ship. Nami braced herself on her chair as older Nami sighed and stood up.
"I knew it."
Older Luffy groaned.
"I knew someone was coming but… you?!"
"Of course it's me you idiot. Besides playing rock paper scissors to see who's come after you, i decided to take it upon myself to come stop you."
"Stop me? I'm just trying to help!"
"Help? Really? And your plan was to have him do a bunch of acts of kindness?"
"That's what I had to do!"
"And it took you how long?"
Older Luffy growled, starting another tangent with Older Nami. Luffy stood behind the two not listening in the slightest. But from his thoughts he was brought back by a hand on his wrist. He looked at Nami, who pulled him away from their older counterparts.
"So he was the one who told you…."
"Yea…"
Luffy sighed. Looking at Nami with a pouty face.
"Nami?"
She looked to him with a small smile.
"I'm sorry. I know you like money… and… it's apart of you. But, your more than just our… money holder?"
He coughed.
"Your my friend, and… I care about you."
He lowered his head, groaning as he ran his fingers though his hair as he tried to come up with a good sentence. He rose his head and stared at her.
"Your not just paper. Unlike… those beri… your a block of gold."
He let out an exhausted sigh. She sniffles, getting a little teary eyed.
"I… just wanted an apology…"
He scratched his head with a pouty face.
"I guess he made it way too complicated…"
"Ya think?"
Nami hugged him tightly. Luffy felt his heart calm instantly, and gently returned the gesture.
"See! That's all!"
They both turned seeing Older Nami smack Older Luffy on the back of his head.
"Your all so complicated…"
"No your just a mess around us."
Older Nami chuckles, putting her arm around Older Luffy.
Nami and Luffy pulled themselves apart.
"Uh… thanks?"
Luffy questioned wether he should say that or not.
"Word of advise."
Older Nami leaned in by Luffys ear.
"Listen to your gut from now on… and for the future…"
She looked at Older Luffy and Nami to make sure they weren't listening.
"Make sure when you two are in bed, really massage the bulb, it's small but you'll feel it, rub it real good ok?"
Older Nami gives him a thumbs up and Luffy, not fully sure what she meant does the same.
"It'll come in handy, in a few years, maybe a few months, or even tonight. Just… remember ok?"
Luffy nodded affirmative.
"Perfect! We'll be leaving then! Farewell!"
Nami gulped before rushing over to them as they glow.
"Uh… w-will we-!"
"Yep!"
Older Nami answered confidently with a wink. Nami sighed backing up next to Luffy as they waved them both goodbye. Seeing them disappear, Luffy sighs staring up at the sky.
"That was too much…"
He felt fingers intertwine with his and looked down seeing Nami hold his hand.
"Luffy?"
He looked back up at her. Seeing her stare at the stars.
"In the future, will we have to come back to… save each other again?"
He took a deep breath and looked up again.
"Nah! I'm sure younger me can take care of himself. Especially if he had you around."
Luffy chuckled and Nami groaned.
"Go easy on me."
"I'll try."
Hiya, sorry if it's all messy. It's currently 1 where I live and I'm so fucking tired. I've wanted to make a story like this for a while. Where younger Luffy meets older Luffy and stupid shenanigans ensue. I know this story isn't good but I just wanted to write something that wasn't sex. I mean, if this gets enough likes then I'll write them having sex. But right now, I'm content with this. Sorry it's all over the place, Goodnight.
