Eddie seemed to scarf down her meal. Jamie could only shake his head at her.

"When are you not hungry?"

Eddie glared at Jamie but since they were in public she used his undercover name.

"Really Ben? When am I not hungry? Well maybe you've forgotten about this baby you put in me. I'm eating for two if you haven't noticed!"

Jamie could feel several sets of eyes staring at the angry tirade Eddie was instigating for show. Taking her hand in his, he squeezed it.

"Sweetheart, I'm sorry. That was very insensitive of me. I'll get you anything you want on the menu. What would you like?"

For good measure, Eddie sniffled and let a couple of tears fall.

"A full stack of buttermilk pancakes."

He was hesitant at first.

"Are you sure you want those? If you do, at least go for the sugar free syrup."

Eddie nodded and then smiled. For the sake of the audience that was giving them concerned looks, Eddie pulled Jamie in for a brief kiss. He felt something as they kissed and he pulled away.
"Thanks babe."

He smirked and then squeezed her hand. He flagged down a waiter. The waiter came over hurriedly.

"Yes sir. What else can I get for the two of you?"

Smiling he gestured over at Eddie.

"Could I get a stack of buttermilk pancakes for my wife with some sugar free syrup please?"

The waiter smiled and scurried away to give the cook Eddie's order. Eddie shifted uncomfortably in her chair, and Jamie noticed squeezing her hand more.

"He's kicking me again. Feelings like he's doing summersaults."

Jamie pushed the chair out he was sitting in and came around and knelt in front of her. Placing a hand gingerly over the fake belly.

"Wow. He's really moving around in there. I think I feel a foot here on your right side. You would think he's banging on a drum set in there."

Eddie ate her pancakes in blissful silence. Enjoying every bite. She was grateful for the tiny feet had stopped its rhythmic drumming against her fake belly. Jamie got the check and they left the diner hand in hand, making it through the throng of crowds two blocks back to their apartment building. Little did they know, Rolanil himself was watching them six blocks away from a darkly tinted Escalade. He smirked to himself. He had plans for the wife.

Jamie and Eddie entered the building and were soon in their apartment. Eddie had taken her coat off and placed it on the coat rack next to the door. She had a flowy just above the knee yellow skirt on. As she lowered herself to the couch, she looked at the inside of her left leg. She got worried and called for Jamie. His back was turned to her as he put his own coat on the rack.

"Jamie…"

He heard the worry in her voice and got to her in two large strides.

"Hey. What's wrong?"

Eddie moved her skirt a little so Jamie could see her leg. Remaining calm, Jamie removed Eddie's shoes and put her legs up on the couch, propping two pillows behind her back and placing a blanket over her.

"Take a breath and relax. Put your knees up. I'll text Doctor Lancaster and let her know what's going on."

It was a couple of minutes before Doctor Lancaster arrived inside their apartment.

"Hey Eddie. Take a deep breath and relax. What happened?"

Eddie shook her head.

"I don't know. This suit is working correctly isn't it? You said it was timed, and last time I checked its only been a day not 60. It's better if I just showed you."

But Eddie didn't have to. Jamie pointed to the blanket. I couple of minutes later, Doctor Lancaster moved the blanket from over the fake belly and lifted the bottom of Eddie's short sleeved shirt. Eddie winced as she felt a quick flurry of kicks thanks to the three sensors on her abdomen. Doctor Lancaster spoke to Eddie in a soothing voice. Keeping in character was important for all three of him. For her it was more out of habit, she was speaking to Eddie like she would any new expectant mother experiencing issues with a pregnancy.

"Remember to breathe Eddie. I need you to relax. Down to business. Excuse my reach. I think I've found the problem."

Jamie spoke up softly as Doctor Lancaster moved her hand from over the bottom of the fake belly.

"What is it?"

Doctor Lancaster showed him her gloved hand.

"Some leaking 'amniotic' fluid. This is the equivalent of her being 3 centimeters dilated if she were carrying a real baby. She'll need to rest for a couple of days. I designed this suit to seal off the leak. On another note, I'm not liking the look of this bruise. It's gotten quite a bit bigger than yesterday and some of the small veins look broken. Let's keep an eye on the bruising. It may resolve itself. I want you to stay off your feet. Jamie can help you back and forth to the bathroom, but other than that, you need to stay absolutely still. Is that clear?"

Eddie nodded.

"Understood."

Jamie didn't understand why he was nervous. But he was taking his role very seriously. He shook hands with Doctor Lancaster, and he showed her out. Blowing out a breath to calm himself, he took a seat on the edge of the couch, pushing a strand of blond hair from her face. Taking his hand away he quickly apologized.

"Sorry. That was completely inappropriate. We're supposed to keep things professional."

Eddie tipped her head up so she could get a reading on what his look was telling.

"Jamie. We're playing a happily married couple with a baby on the way. We have to stay in character."

Nodding Jamie explained his fears to Eddie.

"I don't know why I'm so nervous. I know this whole thing isn't real. I just, when you said my name and you were worried, and then Doctor Lancaster said the suit was leaking what amounted to what is supposed to be amniotic fluid, I saw the two of us down the road, married, with our own baby on the way. Same problem. Only you being on bed rest for real."

Eddie reached a hand up and brushed a hand against his cheek.

"I'm glad you care for me so much. But for now we're partners. Unless when we're done with this assignment you want to give us a try?"

Sighing, Jamie reached for her hand and squeezed it.

"Let's focus on the assignment and we'll see where it goes from there."

Jamie's heart swelled with hope. He'd been denying the feelings he had towards Eddie, but liked the fact that she would be willing to give them a shot.
