The next morning, everyone had gathered for the first duel of the tournament after breakfast.
"Alright everyone, this duel will be between Yugi and Yusei, and will be a turbo duel," said Millennium as he drew three sticks from three different cups in order to make the match as random as possible.
"May the best duelist win," said Yusei as they faced each other to shake hands. A few minutes later, the two were on the track.
"I'll take the first turn," said Yugi as he drew a card.
"First, I'll set the Pendulum Scale with scale zero, Pendulum Knight Lv.3, and scale twelve, Dark Pendulum Magician," he said.
"He has a scale zero monster?!" asked a surprised Dennis.
"Now I Pendulum Summon, Pendulum Knight Lv.5 along with Red Gadget, and when Red Gadget is Normal or Special Summoned, I can add Yellow Gadget from my deck to the hand," said Yugi.
"That's my Yugi, he got two monsters out in one turn," said Grandpa.
"Don't get too happy, Yugi still has something up his sleeve," said Jaden.
"Now I use Pendulum Knight Lv.5's effect, which allows me to Special Summon, Pendulum Knight Lv.7 by sacrificing himself after he's been Pendulum Summoned!" said Yugi.
"Now that he's out, I'll use his effect to lower his level to three, and now I'll use my two monsters to Synchro Summon, Obelisk the Synchro Tormentor!" he said. A robotic version of the God card then appeared on the field.
"He just summoned a monster with four thousand ATK in one turn?!" asked a worried Yusei.
"And I'm still not finished, because I now activate Obelisk the Synchro Tormentor's effect, allowing me to add a spell from my deck to my hand," said Yugi.
"And the card I chose is Magician Transportation, which I'll use to Special Summon two Dark Magicians from my deck," he said.
"Now he has two Lv. 7 monsters," said Yuma.
"I use both of my Dark Magicians to build the Overlay Network and XYZ Summon, Slifer the XYZ Dragon!" said Yugi as a robotic Slifer appeared with three thousand ATK.
"Whoa, Yugi is not holding back at all," said Tristion.
"He's still not finished," said Yubel as she appeared to Jaden.
"Now that I have these two on the field, I activate Obelisk's effect once again, this time I add the spell, Fusion of the Sun God to my hand," said Yugi.
"Next, I use Slifer's effect, which turns his Overlays back to monsters, but they won't be staying for long," he said. Both Dark Magicians appeared before him but their ATK were down to zero because of Slifer's effect.
"You were right, Yubel, he was going to Fusion Summon," said Jaden.
"Who are you talking to?" asked Flip.
"Long story," said Jaden.
"Now appear, Fusion Dragon of Ra!" said Yugi as a robotic Ra appeared after the two Dark Magicians were fused together. This monster had zero ATK thanks to the fusion material's ATK when used for the summon.
"With this summon, I end my turn," said Yugi.
