I stepped out of Guru's house and even from an incredible distance I could see Nail flying over. Dragon Ball logic was cool and lacked any scientific explanation which only made it much more interesting! Wanting to learn how different things and races worked took a huge chunk of my brain up during the past year.
Nail landed in front of me, his eyes falling to see the large necklace around my neck that almost touched the ground. He said nothing, sighed, and walked into Guru's house.
Such a tsundere.
I took off towards the village that contained the first dragon ball. It wasn't too far, only several hundred miles from Guru's place…
The anime didn't do a good job of showing just how far apart these villages were from one another.
The various villages didn't give me any trouble when I asked for their dragon balls. Half of the reason might be because I'm the youngest of Guru's last batch of Namekians, and the other half would be because of the necklace.
I used magic Guru had taught me to levitate the dragon balls behind me as I flew and eventually, I reached the last village and got their dragon ball as well.
It was time to find a good place and make my wish. I flew about fifty miles from the last village, settling down on a nice little island.
I floated the dragon balls onto the grass, and they all started to glow bright orange. It was time to make my wish. I had a few thoughts on what I wanted, but everything was flexible. Thankfully as a Namekian, I already knew the password as does every other brother of mine.
"Arise Almighty Dragon of Laws and Dreams, grant the will of Namekians of past and future!"
*BOOM*
A blast of incredible power was sent upward. The sky grew dark and the light swirled around within the air above me until it began to take the same of something massive. Within moments the full form of Porunga was floating above me, looking down.
He was huge! No, huge doesn't do him justice, he was a gargantuan lifeform!
"A young one has summoned me?" He asked in his booming voice. His eyes glowed brightly for a moment and I raised an eyebrow, I hadn't even made a wish yet. "I see, so that's how it is. Go on then, youngling, state your wishes."
I'm guessing he contacted Guru, or maybe Guru contacted him? Either way, I'm not gonna complain. I turned around and began to set up one of the plans I had. Picking up a stick I began to write in the dirt. The large dragon waited in silence. Once I was done I turned around and held my hands up to address the majestic beast that dominated the skies.
"Great Porunga, for my first wish, I wish for you to grant every wish written in the dirt."
Porunga just stared at me, thoroughly unamused.
"We both know that is an impossibility, do not waste my time, youngling, state your wishes."
Ah, worth a shot.
Well then, guess I have to choose from the list. I hummed, looking down at the dirt, a contemplative frown dawning on my green face.
I think I got it.
I turned back around and looked up to Porunga. "I wish for the ability of genetic manipulation!"
Porunga's eyes glowed. "Your wish has been granted, next."
I raised my brow. I didn't feel any different. I patted my body a few times, trying to make a change, but nothing took place.
I'll figure it out later.
"Next, I wish for the Namekian Book of Legends lost to time!"
Again, Porunga's eyes glowed. "Your wish has been granted."
A large book, easily bigger than me appeared into existence and floated down to me. It was huge; just by the look, I could tell it had thousands of pages! I reached forward, content on diving into-
"Come, state your final wish."
Yeah, I should probably handle that first.
I returned my attention to the dragon. "Lastly, I wish for absolute ki mastery, the ability to truly shape my ki and direct it perfectly with no flaws."
Porunga paused for a moment as if checking something. This lasted for a few moments and I started to grow worried. Would it not be accepted?
Thankfully I was worried for nothing as Porunga's eyes glowed one final time. "Your wishes have been granted, the fate of Namek rests in your small hands, youngling. I shall take my leave."
Porunga started to fade, the dragon balls rising and scattering as the sky regained its light.
I stared at the spot Porunga had been for a while before smiling like a kid in a candy shop and opening the Namekian Book of Legends.
The language was old. It was in Namekian, but it had a sort of…holy kind of Namekian feel to it. I believe the best English comparison would be like reading Shakespeare, or the bible.
'{Thou who dreams of knowledge, read thy text and attain enlightenment. For thy world lives, thy stone pulls, thy wind breathes, thy fires burn brightly, thy waters shimmer.}'
That's one hell of an introduction, is it describing the foundations of a planet? That's at least what makes the most sense to me. Stone pulling together at a core to eventually create spherical mass, then next would be fire? Magma I guess forming, winds emerge, and water in the form of rain that scatters to cool it down?
I don't think I got that right, but I'm sure I would have years to figure it out.
…If I lived that long.
I closed the book, using magic to float it behind me. I needed to get off this planet, which meant I needed a spaceship.
Wait, was I supposed to wish for one?!
I blasted off towards Guru's place, please make me be wrong!
— Later —
I landed at Guru's house, giving a nod to Nail who raised a brow and followed me in.
"Lord Guru." I bowed.
"Lyre, I assume you have made your wishes?" The giant Namekian asked with a peaceful smile on his face.
"I have." I floated the book I had wished for in front of me.
"Oh, what is that now?" Guru questioned with unconcealed interest.
"The Book of Namekian Legends." I smiled, enjoying the shock on Nail's face.
"The legendary book of our ancestors lost to time?!" He asked, reaching for the book only to earn a slap on his hand from me.
"It's mine." I grinned, enjoying the snarl on his face.
"I had not anticipated for you to make such a wish, Lyre, but I am glad to hear that you have. This…this means a great deal to our race. The contents of the legend were even lost to me, but now that we have this sacred book once more, fate smiles upon us."
My smile warmed and my cheeks blushed a dark purple. I considered their feelings when I made this wish, but it was mainly for myself. I knew that this book included the legend of the super saiyan god ritual, so I assumed it had to include much more and I was right. Arts and traditions lost to time, magic, and abilities that our forefathers used to shape their world, and it probably mentioned the creation of dragon balls on a deeper level.
That last part is the main reason I wished for the book.
"I know you wish to leave soon, would it be too much to have one of your brothers copy the text into another book?" Guru asked, and I couldn't bring myself to turn him down. It wouldn't take more than a few days after all.
"I don't mind." I hummed, leaning against the wall. "Just let me know when they're finished."
"Of course, my youngest." Guru nodded and smiled warmly. His head turned to Nail who was still flabbergasted. "Nail, take the book to the village of Moori, have him and his chosen split the book into four parts, and copy them down."
"Y-Yes, Lord Guru." Nail breathed out, taking one last moment to look at me. I blushed once more when I saw the sheer amount of pride in his eyes. Using the dragon balls as a Namekian for selfish purposes was taboo, but using them to bring such history back to our planet…it was something else.
I watched as Nail left the house and flew away.
"I will not ask what else you wished for," Guru admitted, and my shoulders relaxed. If he wanted to know, I would have told him, but I really didn't want to go into a deep explanation of my wishes. "I assume you still need a ship though?"
"Yes, I do."
"There is one leftover, buried deep underground two hundred miles west of Takao's village."
I had never heard of such a thing, but if Guru says it, then it's true.
"Are there any landmarks I should look for?" I didn't want to spend forever searching in a broad area.
"There should be a hole the size of a mountain leading down. You can't miss it." He helpfully informed and I found myself smirking as I made my way out.
"Thanks, Lord Guru."
"Until you return, my child."
— Chapter End —
Author's Note: The Namekians get a book with wondrous power and culture stacked in one, and Lyre gets a manual to godhood, or something similar.
