Ominous Flame

Chapter 5

Author Notes: Alright boys and girls, we are back and ready to roll with another new chapter. Last time Tommy and Takuya met for the first time, with our fiery hero desperate for answers. Time to see if he gets them. I do not own Digimon.

3rd P.O.V

"I was wondering when you were going to show up." It took a few hours, but his patience paid off as he rested against a tree trunk. His hand holding a strange black and red device. His fatigue long gone as he stared ahead. There she was, just as she looked before when they first met.

A translucent masked angel in green armor. "I see you've returned to your human form. That is good." Instead of feeling joy, an anger deep within his being bloomed. Flames came from his breath as he glared fiercely at her transparent frame.

He should be glad that he was making progress, but it felt like it only made matters worse. What was a couple questions just multiplied tenfold. "I wanna know who you are-and why do I look like i'm dead in a hospital bed in the world I came from." That was what truly troubled him.

After parting ways with Tommy, he furthered deeper into the forest. Finding the trees project screens of various places in the human world. The majority showing every day things going on. Traffic on this random highway, some kids playing at a park-nothing really interesting or helpful.

But then he saw it. An image so astonishing it took Shagumon a few moments to even realize what it was he was looking at. One that questioned his entire existence. His hat, goggles and gloves were removed, replaced with red and white bandages covering his flesh as he laid on a plain, stiff mattress.

His face hidden due to an oxygen mask and other machines wired into him. Doctors surrounding him on all sides. Who he saw there couldn't be him here-it just wasn't possible! Still...it was far too unsettling and confusing for him to ignore.

"I am not your enemy Takuya. I will do my utmost to answer your questions but I fear my time is short. I cannot use my powers for long." Crossing his arms he kept up his scowl, but toned down his frustration.

She didn't deserve to be snapped at-but she did need to explain things more properly. Whatever happened to him wasn't normal-it shouldn't have happened. "My name is Ophanimon, one of the three Celestial Digimon and a protector of the ancient elemental spirits."

It was nice that Shagumon finally had a name for her. But he was completely lost on why she was so important. And she could see it just by taking note of the confusion of his face. As much as she would love to give the full story of her origins, and why the digital world was in such turmoil, she didn't have long.

It was already such a strain being here. "If you go to the Forest Terminal-you will find an ally of mine. One who could fully explain the circumstances of this world." Immediately the legendary warrior shakes his head, his temper rising. "Hell no!" He was done already.

So what if he was acting like a child. He could see where this annoying pattern was going. And he was in no mood for bullshit. Especially when these little journeys seemed to do nothing to help him make sense of things.

"I'm not going on another little quest when you're right here! Why were you so apologetic when you first met me!? Why were my only starting memories of being Cherubimon's slave? At least honestly answer that before doing your little disappearing act."

His mental state was a royal wreck as his memories clashed against Cherubimon's dark magic. She owed him that much for all this confusion. And it seemed she agreed as she sighs. Turning her gaze towards the sky.

"I am the guardian of the elemental spirits of fire, ice and lightning. My fellow celestials had the other elements. Seraphimon had light, darkness and wind, while Cherubimon had wood, water, metal and earth. You being the chosen warrior of fire were under my blessing and protection-but I had failed you."

Her hand is flung out, revealing the elements of ice and thunder, circling one another as if juggled without aid. Immediately Shagumon noticed his missing. "When the digiworld fell into war, I had sent out a signal to contact the chosen legendary warriors who could help in our time of crises. Asking something that would catch each one's particular interest." It was the random email.

Ophanimon had been the one to contact him. "If you had answered 'yes' to my message I would have instantly been able to properly bless you from any harm. Cherubimon had tried to kill all chosen warriors-including you. But you had clicked no, and when you were hit by the vehicle, Cherubimon had managed to steal your element from me." His eyes widened at that.

Do you want to live?

A voice echoed in his mind. Despite trying his best he couldn't pin point who it was. It didn't sound familiar to him at all. Whoever it was though had a deep voice, and held a rough undertone. As if the person hasn't spoken in awhile. They start talking again, asking the same question again. Knowing time was of the essence.

Yes or no. Do you want to live?

It was a stupid question. Of course he wanted to. He didn't even get a chance to buy the present he wanted to for his brother. There was so much he wanted-no-so much he NEEDED to do. He couldn't die now. But there was a tense silence.

Suddenly it hit him, they were waiting for him to verbally respond. "Yes. I want to live."

Shagumon was enraged. Of course he knew Cherubimon had something to do with him being like this. "He used the spirits' power as well as his own to destroy your humanity and reform you into a digimon loyal to him." But to think that he had been responsible for him getting run over in the first place.

He could've easily blamed himself for being an idiot and not paying attention to his surroundings. When excited or running high on adrenaline it was easy for him to lose focus. It would've made absolute sense if the demonic looking clown simply took advantage of his dying state to manipulate him.

However as he thinks about it, it was odd how the truck came out of nowhere-with no opportunity for the driver to even attempt stopping. The warrior of flame felt the need to smash something-anything. To engulf his surroundings in a never ending sea of flames. What happened...was NO accident.

"Cherubimon even now has me enchained-I am weak and unable to stop him. The best I could do to make up for my failure was guide you. Give you the opportunity needed to see what truly happened. However nothing I could do or say could ever make up for what happened."

Her figure was starting to dim. Time was almost up. "Takuya...I beg of you-for your sake and the sake of the innocent digimon here. Please save this world. Go to Forest Terminal-gather your strength and stop Cherubimon."

For the first time since arriving into the digital world, his eyes and mind were completely clear. Full of fierce passion and determination. There were still much he needed to think about, especially now that he was human.

His body was much more frail than when he was a digimon. Hell-he didn't even know if he could digivolve. Or what the consequences for doing such could mean. There was always a risk of him once more falling under his influence. Still it didn't matter.

"It's the least I can do. He won't get away with this." Right now though he had a goal. The wicked angel was going to pay for what he's done. He had made up his mind. "Thank you-may you be safe Takuya." He was still getting used to being called that name. He only Did just rediscover his identity after all.

However, he found himself smiling as his-ironically-guardian angel disappeared. Her presence completely gone to return to wherever Cherubimon has her imprisoned. "Lobo Kendo!" Shagumon grunts as he shield his eyes from a blinding bright light off in the distance. "What the-?"

The ground started to shake, with the warrior of flame barely able to keep his balance while holding onto the tree he was resting against. "Shadow Lance!" Explosions of white and black could be seen through the trees along with shouts.

Before even realizing what it was he was doing Shagumon began running in that direction. A sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach as he remembers that was where Tommy's group was camping for the night.

If there's digimon over there-it could only mean there was a battle happening. And first and foremost-he wasn't going stand by and let whatever danger befall them when there was something he could do about it.

to be continued

Author Notes: And wasn't that a chilling chapter. And honestly when compared to the original anime...I was way crueler to Takuya...sure both him and Koichi are hospitalized. But Koichi fell down stairs. I let Cherubimon run Takuya over and then take advantage of him

Am I evil? I'll let you people tell me in the reviews lol. But that is it for now. If you like this series so far please feel free to fav/follow/review as it makes my day to see people enjoying my stories~ Tchao for now.
