Ominous Flame

Chapter 7

Author Notes: We are back...and this time we're doing a little bit of a different perspective. Last chappy Takuya and Koji were following some suspicious snails, and it's time to see what they were up to. I do not own Digimon.

3rd P.O.V

"Let us go!" This was not a good way to wake up as Zoe looked at the predicament her and her friends were in. "You'll be sorry for messing with us!" All tied with strong rope, and hanging on the side of a mountain. One wrong move and...well they'd be taking a one way drop to the ground.

Tommy was doing his utmost not to panic, finding it hard as he wasn't one for heights. "Be quiet! You'll be released as soon as your friend returns to us all of the female ShellNumemon that were taken." The group of six were confused, not understanding what the little snail digimon were talking about.

JP growled as he struggled against his constraints. "What does Koji have to do with this?" The elder of the little village scoffs. "You legendary warriors have been nothing but trouble for our people. Kidnapping our women-so we'll make a deal with your allies. When they're returned to us, we'll let you go."

Their odds weren't looking good. "What? But we don't know anything about your missing ShellNumemon!" Koichi locked his gaze downwards, finding his brother and another boy there watching them with honest concern.

The stranger pressed his finger to his lips, hoping the warrior of darkness would keep them from being found out. So immediately he looked away, shocked to find the elder slug right in front of him. "A likely story! But he's attacked us! And soon he will come." As if perfectly timing it, the ground started to rumble.

"Wahhh!" The children weren't sure what to expect when a short digimon shot out like a mole from the mountain. "Hm? Me see ShellNumemon having fun." Some of them shy away, losing what little confidence they have.

But the elder, despite feeling a spike of fear in his digicode climbed. "Grumblemon! We have your allies hostage. If you wish for them to be returned safely-you will return us our daughters, wives and sisters!"

The little troll tilted his head as he got out of the hole he dug. "Allies? They not allies. So I crush you~" With a malicious grin the earth gremlin swings his hammer. Scaring away the ShellNumemon.

"Hey-don't just leave us here!" Screams of fear echoed as both human and digimon were sitting ducks. "Spirit-evolution!" A familiar voice rang out as a circle of light and digicode shot towards the tied hostages.

Grumblemon moved away as Lobomon suddenly appeared, his light sword already in hand and ready to strike. "Ohh you have spirit? You give me now!" Koji growls as he leaps forward. "Get away from them! Lobo Kendo!"

It was difficult for them to keep track of the battling digimon from their positions. "Let him have it Koji!" But more importantly, it was difficult for them to watch. Tied and unable to access the d-tectors in their possession.

"You too slow doggy~" Suddenly Tommy found himself slowly rising from his spot. "Huh?" His eyes squint as he tries lifting his head, but the sun was blinding his view. "Hang on buddy. I gotcha." However he didn't need to see, he knew that voice. "Hey its you!" Within a few moments, Tommy is on a ledge.

With Takuya using his flames to carefully burn away the ropes. "Thanks!" A small smile graces Shagumon's lips as the younger boy rises to his feet. "Consider this payback for last time. Go help your friend." At that Tommy hesitated.

Biting his lip. "But what about the others?" The goggle wearing teen simply gave him a wink and thumbs up. "Leave it to me. Grumblemon's tougher then he looks, your pal there is going to need all the help he can get."

Takuya grinned as Tommy swiftly pulled out his own d-tector. "Right!" It was incredible to see a digivolution up close- but there wasn't much time for him to stare on in awe. Quickly Takuya made it to the next rope. This time grabbing for Koichi.

"Whoever you are-thank you!" Glad to see that this twin had manners. "Don't thank me yet-there's still trouble." It was a rinse and repeat pattern. One by one, the legendary warrior of fire pulled each member towards the upper ledge of the mountain. "Grazie!" Burning away their binds so they could go out and fight.

Though JP was the hardest to lift. "Whoa you're strong." He would've been stronger had he digivollved but he couldn't risk it with Grumblemon nearby. Despite his lack of proper speech, he wasn't dumb enough to not tell Cherubimon and the others that he had been opposed.

Let alone that it was Shagumon who was helping the legendary warriors that Ophanimon summoned. "And you gotta knock off the burgers dude." So he had to remain human. "Hey-I haven't had a single hamburger since coming to this world!"

To look like a normal kid that wanted to try and help. "You might want to do that spirit thingy everyone else is doing." Blinking JP followed his gaze. "Oh right! Let's do this. Spirit-evolution." Takuya couldn't help rolling his eyes before getting out of there.

"He-hey where do you think you're going young man!?" Carefully he climbed a bit aways from the battle. Ignoring Bokomon's shouts...at least up until the bookworm digimon grabs onto his hand. There was technically nothing stopping him...

But it was clear that he wouldn't be released until he answered. "If Grumblemon's been kidnapping those ShellNumemon then they shouldn't be too far." If he knew the big oaf like he thought he did, then Grumblemon would underestimate those kids.

He wouldn't use his beast spirit just yet. And that meant he had time to find and get those female ShellNumemon out of whatever prison they're in. As soon as he was out of sight, he pulled out the black and red digivice.

"Alright-let's go! Spirit-evolution~ Shagumon!" Just like every other time, there's a deep burning sensation that over takes him. Something raw and powerful, ready to be released like a volcano. Making the demonic digimon growl as he tried stabilizing himself.

One of his hands reached for his head, tightly gripping his hair. His limbs were quivering as his mind was immediately overcome with dark, twisted voices. Some familiar, others not so much. But all vicious and cruel as the fog started returning to him. Trying its utmost to desensitize him back to a mindless slave.

"You are a monster made for the destruction of the digital world."

"Obey your master!"

"It's impossible to fight your destiny!"

"Forget about the human world!"

With a grunt Shagumon continued onwards. "My name is Takuya Kanbara." Quietly he mumbled to himself, trying to keep those wicked words at bay. He had to move fast. Carefully the legendary warrior moved by the mountains, hearing something in the wind. Faint cries.

"Where?" Glancing around him with narrowed eyes he pinpoints the sounds. "Guess i'm going up." There, a good sixty feet up the mountain, several miles away from the ShellNumemon village. A small opening hidden in plain sight. "Eeek who's there!"

Bingo. "Hold on. I'm getting you out of here." At first the girls scuttled away from him, pushing themselves to the farthest corner. At least up until he busted the lock, opening the door for them. "Come on!" They were afraid of this being a trick.

There were fates worse than being turned to digicode. "Hurry before Grumblemon gets back." But they eventually decided to put their faith in this digimon, making their way out of the cave. "Pick it up ladies, we don't have much time!" With a grunt Shagumon gripped his chest, wincing as a sharp pain hits him.

He leaps away, returning to his human form within a matter of minutes. "Damn!" He should've been able to last longer in his digimon form than that...why? "Me crush you!" Just as he rushes back a throbbing sensation overtook him, leading him to rest against one of the smaller stone pillars.

Only to curse when he finds Grumblemon still fighting with the kids. "Uh oh." Despite it being a five on one fight, it was obvious the annoying gremlin was decimating them. "Oh no you don't you stupid troll..."

His flames igniting at the tips of his fingertips as he saw Grumblemon bring out his hammer. "Thunder fist!" The blue beetle digimon was trying to help Tommy who was struggling against their enemy, but he wasn't fast enough. Missing the earth digimon to hit the mountain instead.

"Haha! Miss me~" But before he could strike Tommy, Takuya shot at him with a small fire blast. "What? Gahhh!" He made sure to stay out of sight as soon as he hit his mark. Giving the others the chance they needed to strike back. "Who did that!?" Lobomon wasted no time in attacking.

Leaping for the enemy in one swift motion. "Lobo Kendo!" Still despite getting hit on all sides...he was still standing. "Take this! Hurricane Wave!" He didn't go down. "Grr me no think so!" With wide eyes Takuya paled as Grumblemon laughed. The mountain was taking hits during the fight. "No..."

The digicode was revealed, ripe for the taking. "Hee hee. No more playing! Slide-evolution! Gigasmon." Much to everyone's shock but Shagumon's, Grumblemon digivolved-using his beast spirit. Striking with twice the speed and strength he usually had.

What little advantage the others had was easily overturned. "Damn." There was nothing anyone could do as the fractal code keeping the area intact got engulfed by the evil minion. Everyone watched in horror as the mountain and the good chunk of the area disappeared just like that.

"Ahhhh!" Before all of them were swallowed into the depths of darkness.

to be continued

Author Notes: Well wasn't that a dramatic ending. Now for those confused with my work, I like taking the canonicity of stuff and twist it. So no matter what the story is not going to follow the show episode by episode and even if it does it's not going to match.

So we'll see if the gang survive the fall next chapter or if I end it prematurely, big fun. But that is it for now. Thank you all so much for reading this story guys. If you like it please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a crap ton. Tchao for now!
