Ominous Flame
Chapter 12
Author Notes: Ok, time to talk people. Now for those of you wondering why the last couple chapters had "Dark Flame" instead of Ominous Flame...well Dark flame was the original title of my story.
I've gotten into the habit of typing up a crap ton of chapters ahead of time for all of my stories which is how i'm able to upload every week. When I first started posting I got an AHA moment and was like "Ominous Flame sounds way cooler than dark flame" and changed it last minute.
Well, scatterbrained me didn't realize when I went to uploading the last few chapters-I literally had like 20 chapters ready to go and had to change every. Single. One... So there's the explanation for any confused.
Honestly this was more or so to make me feel better. I know it's not a really dramatic thing, but it bothered me. Ergo I rant and ramble. So I with that really long message, let's get on to the good stuff. I do not own Digimon.
3rd P.O.V
To say the children needed guidance was a huge understatement. Especially now as they hit an all time low. The good news was they had survived another encounter with Grumblemon, but...the bad news was he had succeeded in taking Zoe's spirit, making her just an everyday human.
And she did not react well when she awoke. Not even a moment after she opened her eyes she felt like there was something wrong with her. Her spirit of wind, a piece of her that she's held onto and relied on for so long was gone. She felt depressed, insecure and useless. "Don't worry Zoe-I'll get your spirit back!"
Even more, she felt bad that there was now conflict over what to do now because of her. "Nice sentiment JP but we have no idea where Grumblemon is. Besides we need to get to the Forest Terminal or did you forget that?" JP and Koji have been clashing all morning.
"What was that!?" Leaving everyone on edge. "Knock it off you two! There's no need to fight." Koichi was trying to wrangle his twin, while Takuya went to block JP. "Please let's all just calm down." It was only a matter of time before things got physical.
And that was the last thing they needed. "There's nothing saying we can't search for Grumblemon on our way to our destination. But arguing is not going to help any of us." Zoe sighed as she brought out her D-tector.
Holding back tears as she saw nothing but static on the little screen. It truly felt like her heart was ripped out as a hollow sensation over took her. "It'll be ok Zoe!" Tommy gave her a side hug, making her give a small smile.
Appreciating the effort. "What's your problem Koji? We both know you'd be devastated if you lost your spirits-don't be a coward!" Both of them winced as JP advanced. Ready to punch the warrior of light right in the face.
However once more a serious brunette stood in his way. "Out of the way Takky-he's asking for it!" It was amazing how for once Takuya was able to stand against the bigger male. "I know he's an ass JP but seriously stop!"
Yet here he was, despite being shorter and thinner, he had no problems standing up against the groups' comedic magician and thunder elemental. His strength actually surprising everyone as he pushed him back. "Koji!" If only Koichi had that much strength and resilience as his brother brushed him aside.
Of course the pyro wielder didn't let him get far as he threw a fire ball right in front of the boy. "What the hell Takuya!?" At this point his patience was reaching its limits. "You both are being absolute idiots right now." It was a miracle it took this long for him to even bring out his flames. Should be lucky he purposely missed.
"Look I get what the both of you are saying, but we got bigger issues then you guys having a pissing match. Bokomon said there's a town close by where we can find some help. And frankly I wanna head there instead of listening to you two ramble back and forth. So unless you guys want to become barbeque I'd suggest we drop it."
The two arguing parties gave each other one final glare before turning away with a huff. "About time sheesh. Alright Bokomon, lead the way." The others couldn't help sighing in relief as they were finally able to get back on the road. Everyone taking their usual positions, with Takuya in the way back.
Lagging behind as he grips the front of his shirt.

"Yesss! This is it. Fortuneteller Village." Like the name suggests the little town was full of fortune tellers and mystic digimon. "Ahhhh come to meee children! I can see there's something that clouds your minds. If you buy my special potions-you won't ever have to worry about anything ever again."
Shame that it was full of fakes. Everything from the weird masked monkey thing waving around a stick, to a drunk frog wearing a tuba were disturbing, annoying and persistent. Constantly trying to con some poor human suckers.
Eventually the group had enough, deciding to hide out on the outskirts of town for a short break. "Why are we here again Bokomon?" It was JP who asked, frustrated as he crossed his arms. Annoyed that he nearly fell for one particular digimon who tried taking advantage of his crush on Zoe.
Granted he had no money to pay-but it still annoyed him all the same. "We're here for Shamanmon. Unlike everyone else here, he's the real deal!" None of the humans really believed that. Hell not even Neemon believed him, and he wasn't the brightest star in the sky.
All of them wore skeptical expressions as they followed him all over the village. With no signs of him whatsoever. "At this rate we're going to be here all day." Tommy sighed as he sat down, absolutely drained as he rested against Takuya's back.
All of them found themselves with sore feet, and frustrated as they watched the intellectual digimon pace back and forth. "I don't understand why we can't find him! He should be here somewhere." He hums in thought.
Ignoring how his digi-counterpart mimics him, pissing him off all the more. "Well why don't we split up and meet back here later? Surely we'll have a better chance if we spread out." Everyone nodded at Zoe's idea, figuring it couldn't hurt.
The problem was...who should be paired up with whom? JP obviously wanted Zoe, though would settle with anyone but Koji, Koji was more than fine going solo or with his brother. Tommy, Zoe and Neemon all wanted to go with Takuya...showing just who was the popular boy in the group.
And of course Takuya didn't care who he was with. The same with Koichi. Meaning that unless something was done, they'd be arguing and debating who to go with all day. So immediately the dark elemental got to work.
Koichi after doing a quick count and realized there was an even number to do four pairs, he rushes back to one of the food stands, getting eight sticks and four different colored markers. Taking each marker, he colors two straws three-fourths down before mixing them up in his palm.
"Here we go..." Returning to his friends he holds his clenched palm out, telling each of them to take one. Doing this was probably the fairest way to make people pair up. Though he wouldn't be surprised to hear complaints should certain duos pop up.
However everyone agreed to this and they were stuck with whoever they got no ifs ands or buts. And...as expected not everyone was happy with the arrangements. Tommy with Neemon. Koji with Zoe. JP had Bokomon. And lastly Koichi was partnered with Takuya. Honestly though...it wasn't the worst case scenario.
So everyone more or less grudgingly accepted the pairs and set out. Takuya rests his hands behind his head as he and his fellow warrior start the long trek. "Good thinking back there. Way things were going we were going to be stuck arguing for ages." Koichi gave a small smile as he blushed.
Not expecting the compliment, but appreciating it all the same. "I'm just glad everyone was ok with the pair we got. It seems you're quite popular though. Looked like everyone but Koji was ok to have you as a partner." A snort escaped the goggle wearing teen, amused beyond all believe.
"Honestly didn't see it coming. I'm actually amazed you all accepted me so quickly." It felt so weird having people to rely on and work with after being isolated for so long. Sure he was a team player back in the human world since he played soccer but...what was happening wasn't the same.
Not by a long shot. "You're a good person Takuya. After you joined us, Tommy had mentioned to me how he met you. And we still owe you for helping us with Grumblemon all that time you strayed behind us." Now it was his turn to blush.
Though his fingers twitched, guilt forming a knot in his gut as the screams of all the digimon he killed echoed in his mind. Still he managed to keep his smile. "Don't mention it. Just glad I could be useful." Dark blue eyes glanced his way, immediately zeroed in on his companions' discomfort.
However before he could question it, a shadow loomed over them, making the pair look up to a large, elegantly designed temple. "How did we miss this while walking around?" With a shrug Takuya moved forward, pushing the door open with a grunt.
Both boys narrowed their eyes as dim light greeted their visions. However a few steps in and Koichi's hairs stood up on end. "Goblimon?" The digimon in question tilted his head in confusion before shaking his head.
"No I'm Shamanmon." The ravenette found himself tense, his hand reaching for his D-tector before he felt gloved fingers grip his arm. "Hey chill out a sec. There's no need to fight if we don't have to." Koichi bit his lip as he took a glance at the supposed spiritual being.
He couldn't help his anxiety from spiking. Back during the beginning of his travels with the group they had a bad run in with the green goblins. Though now that he was calming down, he took note of slight differences between the two.
Dark green skin, light green hair instead of red, and blue clothes in place of brown. "Who come seeking me?" Takuya decided to speak up taking a step forward. "We're travelers. We heard from a friend of ours that you could give us guidance."
A hum escaped the digimon as he lifts his club high in the air. But instead of striking like Koichi assumed, he instead starting dancing. A strange aura surrounding him as he moved, only to stop a moment later to point at the two with his club.
"I see a future of chaos, one that will test the two of you far more than the rest of your companions." The flame user cursed silently at that before turning to his friend. "Why don't you go get the others Koichi? I'll stick around and see if I can get more info." He hesitated for a moment.
Not really wanting to leave Takuya alone, knowing that should something go wrong he couldn't digivolve. "Relax, nothing's going to happen." However despite his instincts he stepped out, promising to be back with the others.
Leaving Takuya alone with Shamanmon, who was giving him a pitiful expression. "The darkness within your heart is still strong. Tragedy falls before you as you turn from friend to foe." He was grateful that the mystical medium waited until now to mention his problem.
Though the fact he was confirming his concerns didn't make him feel all that great. "What can I do?" The digimon began dancing again, his face relaxing with each step. "Remember who you are. Trust in yourself and the friends you've made. Don't fear the flame-accept it."
It was easier said than done, but Shagumon nodded his head all the same. Still, he wasn't quite done, the fortune teller moved closer, stopping right in front of Takuya. With a swift motion his hand takes off a beaded necklace with a small red jewel in the center off from his neck.
Extending it out for the boy to take. "Beads repel against evil. Will protect you when you shift forms." If he didn't believe in his divination powers before...he most certainly did now. "Thank you." Because no one knew about his ability to digivolve.
Let alone know that it actually caused him pain. "When your friends arrive I'll tell you more of what I've seen. Just know that no vision is perfect. No future is certain...your fate is proof of that." It was then the ground began to shake.
Causing both of them to collapse onto the floor. "What's happening!?" With a growl Takuya forced himself to stand, stumbling his way outside. Not prepared for another smackdown with Grumblemon...nor for his secrets to be revealed. "Shamanmon!?"
to be continued
Author Notes: Ohooowoooo. Time to get to the real stuff now. Honestly I liked writing Shamonmon, he was the character that had such a minor role in the show, but I saw him was like-ok we can do something with this~
We'll see what happens next chapter as shit goes down. But that's another week away, so stay tuned. Everyone thank you such much for reading. Please fav/follow/review if you like this story as it would mean so much to me. Tchao for now.
