Ominous Flame
Chapter 13
Author Notes: Well ladies and gents, I am back and here we are with unlucky 13. Which is going to fit very well considering the dip down into grim case scenarios. Remember my friends this is rated T and I am the writer behind it.
So last time we had Takuya and Shamanmon have a little chit chat before a bright light cliffhanger showed up. It's time to see what everyone else was doing in the meantime. I do not own Digimon.
3rd P.O.V
In the end JP had gotten his wish for a rematch. "Peekaboo! Me see you~" And of course it was when he and his companions were least expecting it. With him was more Golemon, six of them to be exact. Making things look even more grim than before.
They could barely handle one enchanted earth digimon with the annoying troll smacking them into the ground before. Now though? With Zoe completely out of commission and Takuya wasn't aware of the fight, let alone here to help...
It was up to Tommy, JP and the twins to pick up the slack. "Me no think so doggy!" With a wicked grin the earth legendary warrior threw a potion at Koji. "What the?" His body felt heavy, forcing him to his hands and knees as a red signal illuminated underneath him.
"Until me say so you're stuck!" Koichi's eyes widened in horror at the realization as his opponent laughed. "Why you!" It was now three against seven, with the strongest of them being loweemon. "Shadow Lance!" Still he couldn't back down.
Not when he had his friends and brother to protect. He had to fight. "Shadow Meteor!" JP and Tommy seeing his resolve join in. "Thunder Fist!" Even if their odds were slim-they had to try. "Crystal Breathe!" Grumblemon's mouth twitched as he watched their valiant attempts.
Actually growing annoyed that they were actually holding their own even With the disadvantage. "Grrr...Grumblemon slide evolution-Gigasmon!" If he had any hopes of saving face he had to take these kids out and get their spirits.
So he struck, not even using his powers to knock the trio of warriors down. "No Tommy!" Watching with glee as Kumamon's body fades to black, his fractal code ripe for the taking. "Come on Tommy wake up!" Zoe was shouting from the top of her lungs.
It was bad enough her spirit was gone-she couldn't stand the thought of anyone else losing theirs. "Not on my watch! Lightning Blitz!" Immediately the earth warrior is pushed away, allowing time for Tommy to collapse back into his human form.
But his advantage was short lived as he's thrown right into Koichi. "Ahh!" Both fell to the ground, their bodies trembling despite their desire to get up. Grunting with frustration as their limbs refuse to cooperate.
"Hehe this ends now. I take spirits!" Suddenly a loud roar echoed through the wind and a bright light envelopes the temple where Takuya and Shamanmon were. "RAHHHHHHHH!" Everyone found themselves startled as a black flash zoomed by, destroying all the Golemmon in its wake.
Bokomon and Neemon were holding each other, terrified as they took note of the sheer power this new digimon had. "Look out!" It was a black lion encased in metal. Growling as it pounced towards JP, Koichi and Gigasmon.
A chill went through the evil warrior's spine as he immediately dug his way out of there. "Bye bye!" Fleeing the battle entirely just before sharpened claws pierced his flesh. "Uh...is he a good guy?" Koichi rose to his feet, hauling JP along with him as the beast turned towards them.
Low rumbles were vibrating through the metallic creature as he circled the pair. "Get out of there you guys!" If there was one good thing about this thing's arrival, it was the fact that Koji was free from whatever magical spell Grumblemon casted on him. He could move again.
However even as he grabbed ahold of his D-tector ready to digivolve, he was too late in preventing JP from going down, those sharp talons slashing through his body and making him revert back to a human form. "JP!" With narrowed eyes loweemon spun his spear before leaping.
Making sure to keep his body in front of JP as Zoe ran to get him out of there. At least Tommy was a bit of a distance away as he held his shoulder with a wince. "Shadow Lance!" The digimon roared as it dived away. Avoiding every single hit.
"Not so fast!" Kendogarurumon had finally arrived, pouncing onto his dark feline counterpart. "Koji!" The two of them rolled, giving Koichi the opportunity to help Zoe and JP reach Tommy, Bokomon and Neemon. "Guys!" Only for his eyes to widen in shock as a bleeding, staggering Takuya finally arrived.
Collapsing onto his knees just a few feet away from Tommy. "Takuya what happened!?" The others wasted no time reaching him, barely taking note of the necklace around his neck as he panted, absolutely exhausted.
JP groaned as he came to, blinking with a wince of his own. "Where've you been man!?" The goggle wearing teen shook his head. "We need to stop Shamanmon." Koichi's eyes wide as he follows the brunette's gaze.
Finding his brother still wrestling with the new enemy. "Th-that's Shamanmon?" Takuya grimaced as he placed a gloved hand over his stomach. "Yeah. After we felt the ground shake we were heading out to investigate when a light came from a little storage cabinet Shamanmon had."
He paused, hissing as he felt blood soaking his glove. "Suddenly there was a spirit, the beast spirit of darkness. It took Shamanmon over-possessing him." It was no wonder their newest threat was so powerful.
It was an uncontrolled beast spirit. That had no problems attacking Takuya before searching for new prey. "Koichi...it's up to you." The dark elemental in question looked on in concern as Takuya gritted his teeth, the pain and blood overflowing.
"Go help your brother!" There was an instant of hesitance as they lock gazes before Loweemon shot off. Holding out his spear he tries to pierce the lion spirit. Cursing as he dodged the last minute. "Koichi!" He offers a small smile to his brother. "Sorry it took me so long." Koji snorts, rising to his feet.
Growling in warning as the possessed Shamanmon circles them once more. "Got any plans?" The two siblings were back to back, watching. Waiting. "No. But no matter what I need to free Shamanmon." The light wolf didn't hear Takuya try to explain what happened, but he didn't bother asking questions.
Time was of the essence. "Do what you gotta do. I got your back!" With a small nod the younger twin leaps. Allowing Kendogarurumon to fire at a distance. "Lupin laser!" The beams of light distracted the black lion long enough for Loweemon to get in close range.
Piercing through his body with his spear. "Shadow Meteor!" Before covering him from head to toe with his dark energy. A pained ferocious cry echoed from the beast as his silhouette turned black and his fractal code appeared.
"Here we go! Time to free you Shamanmon!" Immediately Koichi brought out his D-tector, holding it out in front of the defeated digimon. "Fractal code-digitize!" Slowly everyone watched on with relieved breaths as the spirit medium collapsed onto the ground with a groan.
But that relief morphed into horror as Takuya saw the spirit move. "No Koichi!" He was forced to sit there, fear coursing through his veins as Koichi found himself overwhelmed with the newfound power. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Getting possessed just like Shamanmon. "GRAAAAAAA JagerLoweemon!"
They were right back at the beginning. "Koichi!" Only this time the only person who could stop him was Koji. "This isn't good!" Were the situation wasn't so dangerous Takuya would've snorted with a snarky reply.
But he couldn't "Ebony Blast!" Not when his two friends were fighting for their lives as their beast spirit forms clashed. "Lupin Laser!" They snarled and slashed at each other, destroying the area around them.
"I don't want to hurt you Koichi. Stop it!" Koji's words fell on deaf ears as his brother let out another wild roar. "Dark Master!" His voice garbled as he released another attack. Affectively knocking his already tired sibling to the ground.
Zoe covered her ears. Unable to take the ferocious sounds anymore, only to look up as Takuya rose to his feet. "T-Takuya?" Everyone watched as his stainless glove grabbed at his necklace. His gaze meeting the now awake Shamanmon's.
Repeating the words he told Takuya earlier. "Remember who you are. Don't fear the flame-accept it." With a small sigh he brings out his D-tector. "Let's go!" It's been ages since he's transformed, several weeks at least.
Yet, it still felt so familiar as he was enveloped in an inferno. "Takuya?!" He ignored his friends' voices as he felt his body shift, however it wasn't into Shagumon. The shape was the same, but the dark purple flames were replaced with a blinding blend of red, yellow, orange and white.
His armor, his hair, all of it shifted colors with a new name. "Agunimon!" Bokomon from the moment he heard his name and saw his image went for his book. "So I WAS right. He is a legendary warrior! Specifically the warrior of flame!" There were so many questions that filtered through everyone's mind.
But that would have to wait. "Listen to me Koichi! You have to control your spirit. Don't let it consume you!" Much to the group's surprise, instead of attacking Jagerloweemon like they had expected, he stood in front of Koji with his arms out.
His blue eyes pleading but determined. "I know how it feels to be overwhelmed from powers you don't understand. But don't let your fears take over your actions." He took a small step forward, making the beast spirit retaliate. "Ebony Blast!" Sending a powerful attack Agunimon's way.
And he took it straight on. Not even attempting to dodge as he was pushed back. "Stop before it's too late Koichi! Before someone gets badly hurt. Think of your friends and your brother!" Again and again, the warrior tried talking sense to him, only to be hit with a barrage of dark energy.
"Enough! Howling Star!" It was agony to sit still. "No Koji don't!" The light elemental loved his brother, but he wasn't going to lay on the ground and keep watching him hurt Takuya. If there was no talking sense into his sibling, he'd beat him down. "Pyro Darts!"
Only for him to shift into a different direction to avoid the fire. "The hell are you doing Takuya!?" Agunimon shakes his head. "Fighting isn't going to fix this. All its going to do is feed into his fear and revert him further into his instincts!" He may've shifted into a digimon, but that wasn't to fight.
It was so he could take more hits, and if need be get the others to safety should things go south. He wasn't going to let the twins hurt each other this way. Out of everyone there Takuya knew how Koichi was feeling right now the best.
He was a servant to Cherubimon, and every day since he was free of his control he found himself immensely guilty for the destruction he caused. There was no way he was going to allow anyone else to fall like he did.
If it meant he take a few hits, he would do it. If for nothing then to prevent Koichi to go through what he's been enduring the last several months. None of them understood what it meant to lose yourself, blind to the suffering of those around you.
"Move it Takuya!" Not even Koji who even when unable to control his spirit the first time, was only attacking Grumblemon, just destroying large boulders with his powers. Jagerloweemon leaped, pinning Agunimon painfully to the ground. "Ebony Blast!"
That was the attack that broke the camel's back as Takuya returned to his human form. Even more broken and battered than when he arrive. Especially as large, heavy paws still pushed roughly down onto his flesh.
It was there, the two's eyes met. "Don't be like me Koichi...Don't lose yourself." Suddenly the necklace around Takuya's neck began to glow. The jewel engulfing the two of them in a red light. "Ah!" Blinding everyone for a few moments.
When their vision clears, Takuya is unconscious, unable to handle the wounds he gained any longer. "No...no! I-I'm sorry!" And Koichi back to normal, holding his face in his hands as he sobs his heart out. "Takuya!"

Author Notes: Takuya's official debut as a legendary hero and he gets his ass kicked. Aren't I awful as I get a double bonus of traumatizing Koichi as well~ Well everyone that is it for now.
