Ominous Flame

Chapter 15

Author Notes: We have returned. It's the start of a new month and we're going to get a little change in scenery lol. Last time Ophanimon decided to pop in and say hi while Takuya was knocked out. Let's see where this goes.

Oh wait before I forget. In this chapter there will be quite the bit of bold italics. I'm sure those of you who've been reading this story will understand, but just in case-bold italics are( in my stories at least) dialogue from the past.

Examples of this would be someone talking from memory flashbacks or dreams. For this story I also use it for the celestial digimon such as Ophanimon or Cherubimon. Again I figured you guys would know, but a reminder or two doesn't hurt. I do not own Digimon.

3rd P.O.V

It was crazy how magic and the digital world worked. One minute they were in Shamanmon's temple and the next... "We're home!?" They were back in the mortal world as if they never left. "So this is where you lived?"

They would've thought they were just experiencing a strange dream were it not for their digimon companions right there along with them. Bokomon and Neemon had their jaws drop as they take in the scenery around them.

Marveling at how different yet similar the human realm was to theirs. "Oh shoot we need to hide you guys!" Immediately the two are grabbed, picked up as if they were stuffed animals. "Let go of me you-" Zoe covered Bokomon's mouth with her hand.

"We can't let people know you guys are alive. So shh!" Neemon was having no issues as he was picked up by Koichi, loving the fact that he was being carried. "So...where should we go? I don't recognize this area." None of them did.

It was a nice looking neighborhood. Kids were playing and parents were chit chatting away. Of course all of their gawking didn't last for long as Tommy's eyes widened, his finger already pointed in front of him. "Kanbara! That's Takuya's last name!"

Immediately he ran, heading straight for the house, passing by the mailbox with the family name engraved on the side. "H-hey wait Tommy!" The others rushed to catch up, unable to even so much as lecture the kid as he went to open the door.

"What are we even going to say if we walk right in!?" There was no need to panic. "Then we just say we're friends of Takuya's." Tommy reached for the knob, only to gasp. Causing everyone to stop in their little argument. "Huh?" His hand...went right through.

As if he were a ghost. "What!? You're hand it-" The boy disappeared as he walked right into the door, phasing through it with ease. "How!?" Confusing everyone even as they reluctantly followed behind. "What is going on?"

They took note of the modest furniture, the various pictures on the wall. "It's Takuya! And his brother." The two of them were doing various silly poses together. Showing a story as there were various ones with the two of them at different ages.

"I didn't know he had a brother." There was apparently a lot that they didn't know, with the eight year old smiling, a tad smug. "Waaahhh!" Startled with the screaming, they rushed up the stairs.

All of them surprised with what they saw. "Really Takuya!? Take this you jerk!" It was Takuya and his brother Shinya..."That's no way to treat your older brother you brat! And to think I was trying to be nice and NOT douse you in water."

Their banter turned into a scuffle with Shinya pouncing the elder. "Takuya? But he's unconscious!" It took a moment before they finally realized what was going on. They were watching a memory of Takuya's past. Ophanimon used her powers to show them.

"You COULD wake me up like a normal person you big dummy!" It didn't take long for Takuya to pin him to the ground, much to Shinya's annoyance. "Now where's the fun in that? Besides who wants to sleep on their birthday? I heard mom is already working on your special birthday dinner~"

It was no wonder that Tommy took such a liking to the older teen. "Really?" And vice-versa. "Really really~ We got chores to do, but after that I'd say it'd be a good chance to do a little snooping in the kitchen." It was then Takuya FINALLY got off him. Leaping towards the door.

Going right through the group without a hint of hesitation. "See you in a bit squirt." Bokomon hummed, watching in fascination. Not necessarily at the chores but rather the technology being used. As well as how...happy this version of Takuya was.

"Come on Takuya! Let's go see what mom's up to!" No one was able to say a word as Takuya smirked. It was so strange to see him so carefree and relaxed. His eyes were so bright as he teased his sibling. "You just want to see if your birthday cake is done." Shinya pouts as he smacks the annoying hand away.

Though it was clear he was just as amused. "That's not true! I also want to see if mom put out any presents for me yet! Speaking of which-what'd you get me? You promised it was going to be awesome this year!" Sure he seemed like it in the digital world.

But there was always this tension in his muscles. He was always the first one to react to trouble, even more guarded and cautious then Koji. "Not telling~" Together the brother duo sneak into the kitchen.

Tiptoeing their way towards the birthday cake. "No sneaking bites you two!" Both individuals in question flinch as their mother shouts despite her back facing them. "Takuya, Shinya!" A chuckle escapes her while her sons groan in protest.

Like this wasn't their first attempt. "But mom-can't we have just one bite? It looks so good!" Zoe couldn't help blushing at the look the teen gave his mother. "No Takuya. We'll have cake after dinner when your father comes home from work." Shinya snorts as his brother snaps his fingers with a small tsk.

Causing the digidestined to laugh to themselves, for a moment forgetting why they were here in the first place. "There's always your birthday big brother~" They share a grin as plans already begin to form in their minds.

"That's nice boys but I'd suggest you focus on your chores if you want any cake at all tonight." With that threat hanging in the air Shinya squeaks before rushing into his room. Leaving Takuya to approach his struggling mother, grabbing all the veggies that were about ready to fall out of her hands.

With a single movement the produce was laid onto the counter. "Mom..." There was a knowing look in her gaze as the boy fidgets in place. Fidgeting from impatience as he checked his phone. His brows furrowing when a question was suddenly sent to him.

One that left him both mystified and puzzled as he had no idea who the sender was. And for once it wasn't any sort of spam nonsense that he usually gets. "Hey look! He got a message!" Neemon hops up and down, reading the message out loud for everyone there to hear.

'Do you wish to go on an adventure? And fulfill your destiny?'

Yes. No.

"Ahem..." The preteen blushes, startled as his finger pressed a button. His mother huffs at him, exasperated but smiling, still holding the money out for him to take. "Here's a twenty. Get him something nice." Takuya gave a toothy grin as he gave her a swift hug.

None of them understood. "You got it~" Why did Ophanimon want all of them to see this? "Thanks mom." Obviously this was the day all of them were sent to the digital world. They all knew what happened next.

Takuya got to the train station and came to the digital world. Anything else they see after would simply be what he did up until he reached Dream Forest and met Tommy. "Be back soon~ No goofing off now." At least that's what they thought.

Determination burned in his eyes as he made a mad dash on the sidewalk. It was a struggle for all of them keeping up. Even before coming to the digital world he was fit. It was safe to say at this point that him telling them he was part of the soccer team was true.

"Almost there!" His friends were a good couple yards away from him. "Hey look out!" Able to see first hand as a truck suddenly collided into him. "Oh no!" Eyes widened in terror as Takuya tumbled multiple feet before he laid limp on the ground. "Somebody call for help!"

Barely aware of his surroundings as people shouted in horror. "Hang in there!" The ground around him turned crimson. And suddenly all around the boy was darkness. All the people that had been hovering over his injured frame was gone. "Did...did that really happen!?"

As was everything else. "Wh-what is this!?" It was just Takuya who was still there on the ground. Dying, and their ghostly figures forced to watch his breath come out in pained gasps. All of them shivered, feeling a shift in temperature as a voice echoed out.

"Do you want to live?"

It didn't sound familiar to any of them at all. Whoever it was though had a deep voice, and held a rough undertone. As if the person hasn't spoken in awhile. Meanwhile Takuya remained silent, in a daze until the individual asks the question again.

"Yes or no. Do you want to live?"

This time the dying teen responded. Weak, only moments away from falling unconscious. "Yes. I want to live." Suddenly a large, ominous figure with yellow eyes laughed over his injured frame. "Very well. I shall help you." Silhouettes of hands started slowly covering Takuya one by one...swallowing him whole.

"Welcome my precious warrior."

Then all of sudden there was fire.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!"

It was too much.

"Yessss scream my warrior. Release your anguish and pain."

From the inside out he felt flames lick at his form.

"Bring forth your passion. Your power!"

He couldn't think.

"Forget about the realm of humans!"

But he could feel.

"Serve me as my soldier of flame!"

And that feeling was...anger.

"Protect your master-"

With a gasp everyone found the shadows around them disappear. "The hell was that thing!?" Bringing them back to the present. Back in Shamanmon's temple as if they never left. "We-we all saw that right?" There were nods all around at Zoe's question.

Leaving all of them breathless with how terrified they were. Koichi still had his D-tector clutched tightly in his grip, still producing that static sound. Ophanimon was still there, trying to communicate with them.

"That was how Takuya was introduced to the Digital World. Like you he is a legendary warrior chosen to help save our world but his time is running out. Evil despite his efforts still try to cling to his soul. Just like the world-he must be saved."

At that her voice along with the static disappears. The angelic digimon having said what she needed to. Leaving all of them stunned. Unsure as to how to react to everything they just saw. Takuya...didn't go to the train station. He was a warrior to Cherubimon...

He...was the enemy?

to be continued

Author Notes: Taaaa daaaaa~ I've brought forth some serious drama~ We'll see how that goes as there will most definitely be some tension to come! But that will be for next time. Everyone thank you for reading this story.

Please feel free to fav/follow/review if you like this series so far as it would mean a lot to me. This story's been a lot of fun to write(is it sad I like to make characters I like to suffer?) so it makes my day knowing others like it too. Tchao for now guys!
