Ominous Flame
Chapter 18
Author Notes: Okie dokes time to get the ball rolling on this story. Break time is up for our heroes so I do not own Digimon.

"Are you doing ok Takuya?" Though it was a long drawn out battle, in the end, it was a victory for the fire elemental as he carefully makes his way forward. Tommy supporting him as the group finally gets the show on the road and head to Forest Terminal.
Of course the others were worried, some of the more vocal individuals downright protesting. "I'm fine Tommy sheesh. You'd think I was made of glass with how much you're worrying. Relax a little." Saying that he should still take it easy and rest. Which he very well needed to do.
Let himself recover fully, Forest Terminal wasn't going anywhere and so on and so forth. However despite the clear, rational protests...Takuya's argument about the world's safety and priority won out allowing the group to continue on their merry way.
Or at least merry for the pyro wielder who was taking it with gentle, slow steps. Though whatever smooth sailing on their journey took a sudden shift as they found themselves in a deep fog. "Stay close everyone." Immediately everyone found themselves alert as their vision clouds.
Falling into a two person line up. Koji took the lead with Zoe, their fingers brushing up against the pockets holding their D-tectors. Takuya remained in the middle with Tommy, using his flames to light their way, with Kouichi and JP taking up the rear.
This didn't feel natural in the slightest. "Man I wish I could see." Goosebumps easily began to prickle their skin when suddenly a sharp shrilling sound came from Zoe's pocket. "Huh?" Immediately she pulled the device out.
The machine was still screeching, but now was flashing in an array of colors. For a moment her brows furrowed as she lifted it up, her expression blank. As if she wasn't even aware of her actions. But it worked.
Her D-tector light show glows brighter, summoning a harsh gust, practically blowing it away. "Nice going Z." Smiles formed as they were finally seeing where they were going. "Whoa!" As well as what they were walking on. Thick tree limbs interwoven into braids with carved steps.
Together they slowly continue forward. One by one, each of their D-tectors aid them in reaching their destination. Their path reveals a crystalized palace that towered ten times over the chosen heroes.
"How beautiful." Koji narrows his eyes. "Keep on guard, this could be a trap." Always the cautious one. Even when his D-tector is the one that open the castle gates. "You think everything's a trap." Takuya snorts at Tommy's comeback.
Completely amused as Zoe rolled her eyes. "What's the worst that can happen? Sleeping Beauty used to live in a castle." These people never failed to make him smile. "Yeah well so did the wicked witch." Even when things were tense, it was nice to hear their playful banter.
Shaking his head the pyro raises his digivice. "Come on guys, we're not going to get anywhere like this." With a couple beeps and a flash of red, the doors open. "Halt intruders!" Though this was where Ophanimon wanted them to be, she could've warned them about the hostile welcome.
"Crystal barrage!" Out of nowhere a color palate twin of Wizardmon raises his staff, blasting a wave of ice their way. "Takuya! Tommy look out!" Those two were the only ones unable to move away. "Hah!" But at the last minute, Takuya was able to protect him and his helper.
Throwing his hand up he summons his fire. "Takuya, be careful Sorcerermons magic-" Bokomon cut himself off as the two boys were surrounded by black flames. It was able to protect them, melting away the attack. "We're not here to cause trouble!"
However he wouldn't be able to keep it up with how powerful this guy was. "So you say-yet I can detect Cherubimon's influence on you. Don't think you can fool me." That statement made Takuya flinch, shattering what confidence and focus he has.
Something both Tommy and their latest enemy took notice of, making him all the more convinced in staying on alert. "We're not a threat to you!" Fortunately though the rest of his companions had regained their standing.
Each of them shouting their desire to settle this peacefully. Zoe specifically taking a step forward, holding up her D-tector. "Please-we were sent here by Ophanimon! We came to find answers." The protective magician narrows his eyes in suspicion.
Though hearing them mention the celestial warrior made him immediately stop his onslaught of spells, he still didn't lower his guard. Switching his gaze between the blond girl and brunette boy with the dark aura surrounding him.
"How can I trust you?" He wanted to believe these children weren't a threat. However he's been fighting so long. Too long. He's been forced to raise his staff against many of his fellow digimon for the sake of protecting this castle and what dwells within in.
Clutching the necklace tightly in his gloved grasp Takuya takes a small step forward. Or rather a small hobble, with his younger friend helping him. Both he and Tommy wearing expressions of determination. "...You're right that at one point I worked under Cherubimon. There's no denying that."
He pauses, giving a small smile as he receives a reassuring hug. Given a silent reminder that he had support through thick and thin. But he keeps his gaze on the wand wielding digimon. Knowing that he had to stand up for himself.
"Ophanimon gave me the chance to break free from his control. I wish to pay her kindness back. And that is by escorting those with me here. She said we would get answers and help." He couldn't back down. Not now.
Not when they've all come so far. "You have every right to be wary of me...but make no mistake. Like you I have a duty to fulfill. Should you attack them anymore, I will not hold back." To emphasize his point Takuya summons his dark flames once more. Only holding it in his raised palm.
A simple threat, one that gets scoffed at. "You barely look capable of fighting. What threat could you be?" At that the fire wielder could only grin. "I don't know-you're the one attacking us. I don't care if I have to break every bone in my body-I WILL stop you."
It was then Koichi marched forward, placing a gentle hand on his friend's shoulder. "None of us wish to. But we will not allow you to try and harm us either." One by one, each of them instinctively moved, standing side by side in defiance.
"Yeah! We wouldn't be here unless we had to be." There was nothing but tense silence for a few moments. Both parties refusing to back down, only for Bokomon to wave his paws in the air. Completely done with this.
Of course though he waited until it was safe before intervening. "Enough of this Sorcerermon! Surely you remember the prophecy! These humans are the Legendary Warriors! Here to restore peace to the Digital World." It was those sentences that something clicked within the white mage's eyes.
A sense of clarity that made him immediately drop his stance. "Is that true?" His question was a faint whisper, so faint it was barely heard. Still he glanced to each one of their faces, as if looking at them for the first time.
The last one he kept staring at was Takuya, which was no surprise. But now that he was more focused-more attentive, he took note of the necklace around the tan boy's neck. Specifically the powerful magic coming from it.
Combating the dark aura surrounding him. "It seems I owe all of you an apology. Especially you." He gives all of them a bow, showing his sincerity. Something that stunned all of them for a few moments before Koji frowned.
"Any reason why you're so on guard? Doesn't look like you get many visitors here." Why were they even told to come here in the first place? There was much for them to discuss. And unfortunately so little time.
Still Sorcerermon turns to the castle. "My master is an enemy of Cherubimon, and many times his minions have come in the hopes of claiming our heads. One can never be too careful. But with all the constant fighting I had left behind my sense of rationality...as well as my manners."
With that he snaps his fingers. Opening the doors behind him to allow them entry. "You've all mentioned Lady Ophanimon, please tell me all you can about her. And I will do my utmost to answer any questions you may have." With that Sorcerermon moves to the side, encouraging them in.
An invitation that though had some hesitance, was accepted. The answers they sought were just a few rooms away.
