After the big entrance from the train Katniss and Peeta go back to their house.
"so want to get married tonight or tomorrow?" Peeta asks smiling "sooner the better" she said leaning in "then we will go to the court house later and have a toasting" he said closing the gap and kissing her mature part beginning
she bites his lip then soothes it with her tongue, "god I love you" he says, he starts kissing under her jaw making her knees weak, she walks backwards to the counter to have some support, he lifts her onto the the counter making her giggle a bit, they continued to make out for about 10 minutes, "Peeta" she says breathless "yeah" "bedroom" he carries her to the bedroom. Mature part over (it wasn't that bad but I still wanted to warn you)
they are laying in bed catching their breath when Peeta says, "so we got to tell your family and Haymitch and gales family if you want to" "what about your family?" Katniss asks "don't want them there" he says and she doesn't push "ok. I'm not sure about gale, you know with how he's acting" "it's your choice love" he kisses her and gets up "I'll get Haymitch you get your mom" Peeta says as he gets dressed, "what time?" Katniss asked "6?" "Sounds good" he comes over and kisses her "meet at the justice building" he says and she nods.
"hey mom" Katniss says when she walks in "hey sweetie!" "Where's prim?" Katniss asks and her mother becomes worried "in the kitchen" they both walk to the kitchen, "so can you keep a secret?" They both nod "me and Peeta are gonna get married today but no one can know since snow wants a big wedding, we are having a toasting at our place at 6" Katniss says and Prim squeals hugging her, "you sure" her mom asked and Katniss glared at her "yes" "ok just making sure" Katniss rolled her eyes but gestured for her mom to join the hug.
Katniss met Peeta on the staircase of the justice building "ready" she holds out her hand and he takes it saying "ready" they walk into the building.
they walk over to the mayor, "how's my favorite victors" "well we need a favor" he gestures for them to continue, "we want to get married without the big whoop, soooo could you secretly marry us?" Katniss asks and the mayor smiles "of course follow me" they walk into his office, "I'm gonna go get the marriage license give me a second" there was an odd noise coming out of the other room (it's apart of his office) the door was slightly ajar so her and Peeta walk over to see what it was, the tv had some special report for the mayor, "oh my god" Peeta said, the footage showed uprisings in district 8, they went to enter when they heard footsteps so they closed the door and sat on the couch acting like they saw nothing. "Ok so you both just need to sign your names, do you want to change your names or?" Peeta immediately says "yes I want to be Peeta Everdeen" "Peeta you don't haft to do that" "no this is me cutting ties with my mother" he says and Katniss smiles and kisses his cheek.
after signing a few things the mayor says "after I send these in you will be officially married, don't worry I know a guy in the capital who won't tell anyone" the mayor says smiling, that weird noise comes again, "oh that's my cue. Congratulations guys" he walks into the the room where the tv is.
on the walk home, "so" Peeta says "yeah I mean it doesn't surprise me when we were on tour that seemed to be the most angry place" they make eye contact silently saying "this is really bad" "you know I haven't invited gale yet. To worried about what he might do if it's just me" she says and Peeta nods understandingly "ok let's stop there. We still have a few hours"
she knocks on gales door. He opens it after a minute, "hey Katniss" he sees Peeta "hello Peeta" he says through gritted teeth "so me and Peeta are having a toasting if you want to come" gale opens and closes his mouth trying to say something "doesn't snow want a big wedding?" "Yeah well this is a secret so" Katniss explains "what time?" Gale asks "6" Peeta answers "Katniss could I talk to you alone?" "No anything you haft to say to me you can say to Peeta" gale huffs "I thought you never wanted to get married" Katniss knows she did but the games changed her Peeta changed her. "Well Peeta changed that. Plus the games taught me to live in the moment" she says looking at Peeta smiling, "I'll keep your secret but I'm not going to the toasting" he slams the door on them, "welp" Katniss says as she starts to walk away. "I'm sorry I'm messing with your relationship with Gale" Katniss turns towards him so fast he gets whiplash just watching her, "Peeta you are the best thing to ever happen to me, and if Gale wants to end our friendship because of that then that's his choice" Katniss says holding Peeta's face "plus even if we hadn't got together something would have changed with Gale" Peeta tilts his head in question "I just, the only people who get what I've been through are victors especially you since we were in the same games, that was what made our bond was understanding each other and because of the games we don't anymore. And not that I would wish that on him but he's never gonna understand since he turned 18" she says and Peeta takes her hand "you still understand each other in a way I never could" she smiles, he always knows just what to say, "if he stops being an asshole maybe we can go hunting again" "see that's the spirit!" He says making Katniss laugh.
Time for the toasting.
