Chapter 15

Remy's POV

I'm loving summer - it's da bomb. Mom's Man keeps telling Mom that she's working too many hours. She says that she's on salary - look at what a bargain he's getting from all the hours she works and that he works 70 hours a week, so how is that any different. He says that it's not the same thing at all. Btw, in discussions with Mom, the score is Mom 122 - Mom's Man 0.

So, here's their compromise - it's Friday and Mom, Dad Diesel and I are enjoying an art festival in the park. There are lots of trees and grass so I can walk since it's not on hot pavement. Rangeman is providing security so my guys are on duty - Hal, Slick, Ghost, Bones, and Vince is rotating through to give the guys a break. Raphael is our resident artist so he is undercover doing his sketching thing.

Mom's Man wanted to give Mom cash to spend at the Fair. Mom said that she and Dad Diesel had already decided that my Dad D would pay for everything today since he's responsible for me being in Trenton and Mom pays for all my daily expenses like food, collars and leashes, toys, and my visits to Dr. Tammy. Score Mom 123 - Mom's Man 0.

We had a great time - Mom and Dad D had gyros and I got a cup of vanilla ice cream. There were so many things to see and smell. Mom got a sign to hang on her cubicle wall that says "Life is Better with a Border Collie". Truth. And I got to ride on a merry-go-round with Mom.

On Saturday, I discovered an awesome thing. Mom and Lester took me to Mary Lou's house. Her boys are really busy with baseball and soccer this summer so, instead of taking a vacation, they bought a trampoline! My little fluff-butt was a blur as I launched myself onto it. The youngest Stankovic boy was already on it - he bounced really high when I landed! Sweet. Their neighbors have a kid-sized above ground pool with a water slide. I may or may not have sneaked into their yard, climbed the ladder and cannonballed myself into the pool. I guess I did bc I found Lester afterwards and shook water all over him.

On Sunday night I let myself into the yard around midnight and did just what Mom's Man thought that I'd do. Hehehe. I won't tell you what I found and herded inside but I will say that she will fit right in at Tank's house. Hector will use the scanner on her tomorrow but I don't think she has a home ... yet. We don't have cat food in the breakroom cabinets but Binkie gave her a can of tuna fish from his apartment to get through the night. I can take her outside if she needs to potty. Mom's Man and Tank had an early meeting out of the building this morning. By the time they got back, my new little friend was asleep in my Mom's inbox. Mom's Man looked shocked, but not surprised, and Tank had hearts in his eyes! Mom told them that she wasn't accepting search requests today bc her inbox was already full. Hector didn't find a microchip nor any cats that matched her description on the Lost Pets page in our area. She and Uncle Tank are already on their way to see Dr. Tammy. Yes!
