Grell had a hard time carrying a very weak Katia out of the maze. After some time, he finally gained consciousness from the explosion, only to witness her fighting with the deranged Lilliana. Even though Katia was landing hits on her, Lilliana was completely oblivious and kept fighting with all her might even with large amounts of blood spilling out of her body. However, Katia's injuries were catching up to her and she could feel weakness take over her, but she had to keep fighting if she wanted to survive. Grell swore he saw red in Katia's eyes, but he thought it was just his eyes playing tricks on him. Luckily for Katia, Lilliana decided to end their fight prematurely and suddenly headed up the bell tower. Not long after that, Katia fainted and Grell quickly helped her out as best as he could.
He finally managed to reach the entrance of the maze and leaned her against a tree, hoping she would recover soon. He then sat beside her to catch his breath. "My delicate body can't take any more abuse," he said in a breathy tone. "But as long as you're safe, I guess it will all be worth it."
"Aww, did our precious little demon huntress get hurt?" a condescending voice said from out of nowhere. Grell looked around with alarm and grabbed his chainsaw before he saw Lucille and Bastille slowly approach them.
Grell was visibly excited as he practically screamed, "Are my eyes deceiving me? Bastille, my darling! In the flesh! Is it really you? I thought you were dead!" He would have tried to latch onto Bastille, but he was too exhausted from both his injuries and dragging Katia to do anything strenuous.
"I told you it would be like that," he said to Lucille, who only chuckled. "You're enjoying my misery, aren't you?"
"Only a little bit," she teased, much to Bastille's dismay. "Besides, I'm surprised you would know this interesting specimen."
"I wouldn't have if I wasn't desperate to see my sister again," he said regretfully.
"I'm still waiting for you to fulfill your end of the bargain," Grell said as he slowly got up to his feet.
"What are you talking about? You didn't fulfill anything. If Lilliana was by my side, I would have considered rewarding you, but that offer has long passed."
"Aw, no fair. I worked so hard to get that tantalizing reward~."
"Can we move on from this?!" he yelled. As he said this, Katia slowly started to stir and Grell's attention immediately shifted to her.
"Keep resting. I'll take care of these two," he said as he positioned his chainsaw, ready for a fight.
"Oh, that's not why we're here, dearie," Lucille said with a smile that was far from innocent. "We wanted to just watch the show."
"The show . . . This is all entertainment to you?" Grell said angrily. "As much as I don't care for Lilliana, I still don't like seeing my dear Bassy or Katia get hurt."
"Seems like we have the opposite wishes," Bastille said under his breath.
However, Katia finally got up and noticed the other two people with them, followed by shock. "B-Bastille? Lucy?"
"Wait, you know this woman?" Grell asked as he looked at the blue demon. She only smiled.
"Yes, at a costume party. But if you're on high alert, that must mean she's . . . ," Katia said with concern. She tried to get up, but her wounds were too much and would have fallen back down if Grell wasn't there to help her.
"I'm surprised you weren't able to figure it out sooner. I guess you were distracted," she said as she started walking closer. Out of habit, Bastille tried to pull out his demon sword, but he didn't have it. He didn't know where it could be, but he vowed to find it since it had deep sentimental value for him. "You should be more careful about who you trust, especially those you just met," Lucille said with a smirk before extending her hand out to her. "Though, I'm in a generous mood and might want to help heal those nasty wounds."
However, she heard Grell's chainsaw go off and quickly backed away before the blade could do any damage. "You're insane if you think that I'll let you lay a hand on her," he threatened.
"I only offered to heal her. What's the harm in that?" she said with feigned innocence, confident that even if he did fight her, she would win.
"Your kind is known for performing 'favors' at a cost," he said angrily, looking for any excuse to strike this demon down.
"And what would I have to gain? Her soul? I don't think that's possible, but then again, I would love to try," Lucille said with a sadistic grin.
"But you would ask for a favor," Katia said, using her katana as a cane to help her up. "And it would be something that I couldn't say no to."
"It would depend on how severe your injuries were, dearie. If you were close to death, then yes, but it seems you still have some strength in you. Perhaps we should inflict some life-threatening wounds," she said as she conjured flames in her hands.
"A Reaper hospital can work just as well as your empty promises," Katia said as she held her katana in a fighting stance.
Everyone stayed silent for a while as they tried to anticipate who would start the fight. After a while, Lucille finally broke the silence. "Very well. I can't be wasting time on you two. I have more urgent business to attend to, like seeing how this little game turns out."
"Why would you be interested in this?" Grell asked.
"It's not often that you get to see two demons fight over the same soul. Besides, I have my reasons that I'd rather not tell Reapers like you."
"If it concerns hurting my dear Bassy, I won't let you get away with this," Grell said before revving his chainsaw and dashing towards the blue demon, but Bastille got between them and deflected the attack with his a defensive block. "Maybe you should try not aggravating the Reapers?" he said to Lucille. "I don't have my demon sword to protect you."
"Who said I needed protecting?" she said before throwing a fireball at the redheaded Reaper, but Katia used her remaining strength to get in between him and the fireball. Lucille noticed and instantly snuffed it out before it could hit anyone. While she was relieved, Grell was far from calm.
"ARE YOU CRAZY?! She could have killed you! You are in no position to harm yourself like that!" he said as he grabbed her shoulders and shook her violently, causing her more pain than he realized.
"At least one of us has to take the other a Reaper hospital and I think Lily might be too preoccupied with what she's doing," Katia said sweetly.
"Speaking of which," Lucille said as she watched the ensemble above exit the bell tower and begin their descent. "The real show is about to begin."
It was agonizing for the butlers to watch Hannah cradle Ciel as if he was her master. Well, technically Jim Macken was, but he trapped the very soul they were after. The contract between them stated that the two butlers must fight to the death for Ciel's soul and Hannah would hand it over freely since it was Alois's soul she was truly after. However, she admitted there was more to the contract, but refused to tell the butlers as ordered. She warned that if they tried to kill her, Alois would never release Ciel's soul. She also claimed that Lilliana will also suffer due to unsound mind that cannot determine who she really was, apparent by her changing eye colors and her behavior differing depending on the eye color. Due to her unpredictability, Hannah forced her to go to sleep until they reached the demon's island, where the final battle would commence.
Once they reached their destination, they noticed the disarray Sebastian left the last time he was here and Claude had to comment, "This island of death is a sanctuary for demons. It seems that your rage has left it in a rather pitiable state. You should learn to control your temper—,"
"This is an ideal location for a duel. It is unfamiliar terrain for both of you," Hannah commented as she placed a sleeping Ciel on a stone bench. "Now then, time to awaken my protector until it all ends," she said as her eye glowed. Soon, Lilliana stirred as the two butlers watched intently. "I wouldn't advise getting close to her. Who knows who'll she'll be when she wakes."
Sure enough, as she woke, her eyes were green and she looked relieved to see Sebastian, so much so that she tried walking to him, but before she reached him, her eyes turned red. Sebastian pulled out his knives and forks to defend himself, but Hannah put a hand on her shoulder to stop her. Lilliana's eyes turned blue as she said, "You're really making my revenge a lot more difficult, you know that?"
"I understand, but you will get your wish soon," she said as she guided her away from the demons. "Follow me." The butlers had no choice, but to follow as she led them to a cave full of cursed emeralds. Hannah took the higher ground and watched as Lilliana threw the demon sword toward the ceiling between the demons so it would be out of their reach momentarily.
With an angry glare at both of them, she said, "There is no hope for a soul pierced by a demon's sword. A wound caused by one never heals and the damage will be permanent."
"A demon duel with a single sword?" Claude questioned, but was silenced by a Scythe blade aimed for his neck.
"A Death Scythe can do the same damage, but I need it in case any of you are foolish enough to cheat and go after my master," she said with red in her eyes. She then jumped to the higher ledge with Hannah and Ciel and, with a raised arm in the air, Hannah signaled that the duel had officially begun. The butlers circled around the sword, waiting to see who would be the first to try and take it. Although Sebastian was the first to jump for it, Claude used his threads to swipe it away from him.
"When this is over, I'll sink my teeth into the young master's soul. The soul is mine!" Claude taunted as he repeatedly jabbed the demon sword at Sebastian's face, who carefully dodged each attack. Despite limited mobility in this small space, he couldn't be careless or he would risk his chances to not only obtain Ciel's soul, but also live. He managed to kick the sword out of Claude's hand and grab it before he could recapture it.
"Let's widen this place up a bit," Sebastian said as he firmly planted the sword in the ground, causing the area around him to crack. The cave began to rumble and debris fell from the ceiling, forcing Hannah to find a safer place for her and her master.
"Keep an eye on those two," she ordered Lilliana as she swiftly took the boy in her arms and jumped to safety. Although her eyes were green, she did as she was told and watched carefully, fearing for Sebastian no matter the outcome of the duel. However, more and more debris fell, so much that a hole emerged from the ceiling and everyone retreated outside the cave. Though, Sebastian lost grip of the sword, forcing it to fall in a nearby trench. They both dived for it as Lilliana watched from up above, but her mind was elsewhere.
In her mind, there were three versions of Lilliana sitting while facing each other, each having something to say about what she has witnessed. "How much longer is this going to last? At least one of them should have died by now," the blonde, blue-eyed version said with crossed arms.
"They're both excellent fighters that are equally matched. One of them has to miscalculate a step before the other has the advantage and that mistake could cost his life," the red-eyed, black-haired version said.
"Hannah promised me revenge on both of the demons who used me, but I wanted to be the one who gets to kill them. It's rare that a human is able to obtain the ability to slay a demon."
"But you're not exactly human, aren't you?"
"And you're not a demon, either," Blue mocked.
Red sighed. "No, but there's not a moment that I didn't wish to be one. Life would have been so much easier if I was."
"Who would want to be a demon? True, you'll be powerful, but you'll be hated by the world."
"I don't need to be loved by the world. Just by a few."
"Sure, Bastille would have been there for you no matter what, but what happens when you lose favor with Lucifer and other demons? You've been a Reaper for so long that people might have thought you betrayed them."
"Let them think what they want. They know fully well just what I'm capable of if provoked. They taught me well."
"They couldn't have taught you everything. I doubt you devoured a soul."
"Technically I have," Red said with a somber smile, shocking Blue. "It's a basic for demons to know how to devour souls, but as a Reaper, my body cannot allow me to truly devour one. I would keep it down for as long as I could, but behind closed doors, I would have to regurgitate it. It used to bring me shame, especially since Bastille had to devour those souls since no soul should go to waste."
"That's . . . disgusting, but if anyone would do that kind of thing, it would be him. For as long as I remember, he vowed to never leave my side, even if he failed to keep that promise multiple times. It's not his fault, of course; many deities got in the way of that. That's why I vowed to never be controlled by one every again."
"And yet, you're doing Hannah's bidding. Seems hypocritical, don't you think?"
"I'm not contracted with her for life. Once this is all over, the contract will be finished: service for freedom. It's not a bad deal."
"Sure, until she decides to betray you and ask for your continued servitude. Humans are always gullible."
"Demons don't break contracts and you know that." Red and Blue noticed that the green-eyed Lilliana wasn't contributing to the conservation, but hugged her legs and kept a sullen look. "You're awfully quiet."
"She's been quiet every since they dipped her in that liquid."
"They have no idea what they're fighting for," Green said quietly.
"Serves them right after they've been controlling us with their marks. They both treated us like pawns just so they can get Ciel Phantomhive's soul," Blue said as she got up and walked to Green, making sure she was towering over her.
"And, of course, you have a favorite that I know you'll be devastated by either result," Red said as she did the same.
"Regardless of the outcome, everything's gonna change. I wish I could have prevented this, but I was useless," Green said, burying her face in her knees.
"But you're used to tragedy at this point," Blue said.
"What's the harm in adding another—," Red said, but was cut off.
Lilliana blinked a few times before returning back to reality. She looked back at the fight and noticed that the demon sword managed to pierce a demon's soul. Since the butlers looked similar, she had to get a closer look to see who it was. She landed on a ledge close by the scene and saw clearly that Sebastian had managed to stab Claude in the chest. It was finally over; Sebastian had won and Claude would never know the delectable taste of Ciel's cultivated soul. The two conversed for a while before Claude finally released his last breath, ending his almost immortal life as a demon. At that moment, Lilliana felt a feeling of relief on her chest, meaning that Claude's mark was no longer on her chest. This may have brought her great joy, but not this time.
Sebastian noticed her and jumped up to the ledge she was standing on. He was still reluctant to approach her, but when he saw tears flowing from her green eyes, he pulled her close to hug her. Even if she did turn on him suddenly, he would be able to hold her tightly enough to subdue her. "It's not over," she whispered through the tears. "You still need to retrieve our young master."
"And to free you from this torment. I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you from all of this," he said sincerely.
"I'm sorry too for what's to come," she said ominously, making Sebastian suspicious. "Hannah is waiting for us."
He nodded and the two of them jumped their way to Hannah's location, which was near the edge of a cliff. She held Ciel's body close to her, facing away from the deities approaching her, but when she sensed their presence, she said to them, "The terms of the contract I made with my master and Lilliana have been suitably met. All you have to do now is kill me and your young master will have his body back and my mark will leave her." Soon, the ground began to rumble again and they could hear the cliff cracking, ready for it to collapse at any moment. "However, even with his body returned, you'll will find that Ciel Phantomhive is as good as a dead person to you." Sebastian gasped at what she had to say, but Lilliana only looked away out of guilt since she knew the terms from the start. "Ciel Phantomhive—," she said before the ground collapsed, causing her to fall, but she left him with the last remaining piece of information she held from him.
In disbelief, Sebastian hurriedly chased after his master, who fell into the watery depths along with her, hoping what she said wasn't true. However, instead of helping him, Lilliana had something else she wanted to do; she noticed that Hannah had emerged from the sea and was walking to where Claude's body was. Despite all the hatred everyone exhibited toward each other, Jim Macken, Luka, Claude, and Hannah were united as a pseudo-family.
Lilliana felt a great sadness wash over her as she watched Hannah huddle close to his body, waiting for the falling debris to crush them both. She thought about the pseudo-family she created with the Phantomhive servants, how they all respected each other despite their pasts, even if they were unaware of all the details. They treated her like an equal even though she was their superior in skills and title. Even small things, like remembering the day she started working for the Phantomhives so they could celebrate her anniversary meant much more to her than she initially thought. She was never an outcast and she wanted to stay with them for as long as possible, but after today, that won't be possible. As a Grim Reaper, she wasn't supposed to develop relationships with humans, especially knowing that one day, they'll die, but they were special. All of them, including Ciel and Sebastian. She couldn't lose them, but after tonight, she will no longer have a reason to stay.
Soon, she felt the mark on her eye disappear, meaning that the debris finally killed Hannah and freed her from her control. Her hair turned black again and she was finally back to her old self completely. Though, the sadness only intensified and she fell onto her knees and sobbed. Everything was going to change and she couldn't do anything about it. In fact, she was forced to make this all happen by force. Would she have been able to stop all this if she was in control? Maybe, maybe not.
Though, she was feeling very weak as all the injuries she had accumulated throughout this night finally overcame her. Somehow, she pulled up any remaining strength she had and headed back to the shore where the boat was waiting for them. When she arrived, she noticed that Sebastian and a now-awaken Ciel were in the boat. "It's about time you showed up."
"I'm sorry, young master. I had to make sure that no loose ends were left," she said as she practically collapsed in the boat, making it rock a bit.
"Ms. Kiliamo, please be careful," Sebastian said in his usual stern voice, but a twinge of sadness creeped out.
"I'm sorry," she said in a weak voice, but her eyes were heavy and she immediately passed out. At last, she could rest. The last thing she saw was two pairs of demon eyes staring at her.
Lilliana went back to work and tried to explain her situation to avoid any scolding from William for missing so much work. Luckily, Grell and Katia were there to verify her story, but it still resulted in requiring her to visit the Reaper hospital for a while to make sure she had fully recovered, causing her to miss work at the manor with no explanation. With some treatment, she was physically all recovered, but had some temporary scarring since her wounds were inflicted by a demon sword and a Death Scythe. Katia apologized for the fight, but Lilliana assured her that she did the right thing and apologized for afflicting pain on her. However, her colleagues feared she would not recover mentally since everyone close to her noticed her depressed demeanor and exhaustion after everything she went through. She didn't talk back to her superiors and did her job efficiently and quickly, which was the most surprising thing since her return. Although William seemed to appreciate this, he knew something was wrong and gave her the rest of the week off.
Since then, Lilliana performed her tasks at the manor just as efficiently, but whenever she had to interact with either Ciel and/or Sebastian, she kept conversations short. Ciel didn't seem to be bothered by this, but Sebastian was and has tried to confront her about it. Luckily for her, though, the other servants proved to be great distractions and thwarted his questioning. She'd let him deal with the servants on his own and in the meantime, she would try to hide herself until she was needed again. She pretended she was going to work during the night, but instead stayed at a nearby inn that she used to stay in before she stayed at the Phantomhive manor. It was nice to see that the old innkeeper was still alive and doing well. Though, despite this being the best time for her to catch up on the years of sleep she had missed, she had a hard time doing so. Guilt filled her nightmares, forcing her awake with heavy breaths and a cold sweat. She unexpectedly wished that she was never given the time off; at least that would have distracted her temporarily.
On this day, Lilliana was asked to prepare Ciel's evening tea and deliver it to his study. Despite Ciel initially asking Sebastian to do it, he delegated it to her in hopes that he would be able to confront her before she disappeared again. While they waited, Ciel wanted to discuss some things with him about being a newborn demon. Of course, Sebastian couldn't provide him all the answers he wanted since never before in demon history has a contracted soul become a demon. However, Ciel's order for Sebastian to serve him until his soul was devoured was still in effect, forcing Sebastian to remain in Ciel's servitude for eternity, a fate worse than death for a demon. "Would I even need you as my butler if I gain the same abilities as you?"
"I'm afraid so, my lord, at least until you've learned to master them as I have. Though, that could take centuries, considering you can't even tie your own shoelaces without my help," Sebastian said, though despite the teasing words, his tone seemed serious.
"Quiet, you," Ciel said with annoyance, but it soon diminished. "I assume that you would help teach me these skills?"
"Yes, my lord."
"And I suppose I would also have to learn to fight against angels and Grim Reapers."
"Yes and their weapons can still cause physical harm to you since they were made to slay deities. Human weapons, on the other hand, are useless against you, so you should learn to no longer fear them. In fact, you should demonstrate this ability in front of them; fear and despair make great seasonings for souls."
"Speaking of which, I will have to devour souls as well. I'll be honest, I'm not looking forward to that, but if human food won't satiate me, then I have no choice."
"Right you are, my lord, which is also why we need to increase your combat abilities in case you encounter a Grim Reaper that will try to steal the soul away from you."
"We can no longer rely on Lilliana for her assistance. She can't fight against her own kind or else she would be targeted as an enemy."
"And besides, the Reaper Association forbids her from leaving the London area. I doubt she can afford to break the rules to follow us wherever we go," Sebastian said, but continued in a somber tone, "Are you sure that you want to leave your life behind here?"
"I see no reason why not. The Ciel Phantomhive that the world once knew no longer exists. I became the Queen's Guard Dog to exact my revenge, but I achieved it. Why would I want to continue living this facade?"
"And what about those you have grown close to? I'm sure Lady Elizabeth would be most saddened by your disappearance."
Ciel sighed. "Why should I care about humans and their grief? If it pleases you, I can invite her over here so she can say her goodbyes, but I have no interest in seeing anyone else."
"I can arrange such an event. Everyone will know that Earl Phantomhive is dead."
"Good, and once that has all been arranged, we will begin our journey far away from here." However, as he finished his sentence, they heard a loud crashing sound outside the door. "What did the servants break this time?" he said in an annoyed voice.
"I don't think that was one of them. I heard porcelain breaking," Sebastian said as he rushed to open the door, hoping to catch the culprit. However, all he found was a tray with a broken teapot, cups, and saucers, all soaked with tea. Sebastian sighed, but returned to the room and said, "I'm afraid your evening tea has been delayed further. My apologies."
"Don't bother. I've grown a distaste for human food already," Ciel said as he got up from his chair and headed out the door. "Clean this up and punish the one responsible for this."
"Yes, my lord," he said as he picked up any remaining shards that were outside the tray. He knew very well who broke them, but the tricky thing was to find her.
He didn't have to look far as he sensed a presence outside the manor amongst the forest that protected them. He was careful not to travel too fast in case his movement would give away his location as he searched the forest throughly. Her presence was getting stronger, but she knew how to hide after many years of avoiding the watchful gaze of the Reaper Association. After a while, he stopped in his tracks when he felt the strongest sense of her presence and looked around. "You heard us, didn't you?" Sebastian seemingly asked no one and received no response. "It is beyond my control. The young master's orders must be fulfilled whether I wish for them to or not. You must understand that, correct?"
Suddenly, he heard the sound of a weapon quickly heading his way and got out of the way immediately. The weapon landed with a crash that planted it into the ground, giving him enough time to see what tried to strike him: her Death Scythe. "Do you think I don't know that already?" Lilliana said as she descended from the trees to retrieve her weapon. Surprising to him, she was still wearing her maid outfit, which meant she came straight here after breaking the tea set with no intent on going to work to avoid him. "I was well aware that one day, we would have to fight for that soul to please the Association. Of course, I'd let you have the soul because you worked too hard to get it, but I needed to look like I tried. What am I supposed to tell them: a contracted soul became a demon thanks to me?" she said with tears streaming down her face as she tried striking Sebastian with her Death Scythe. He dodged, but not without a slight tear in his suit.
"What happened wasn't your fault. It's no one's fault but Jim Macken, Hannah Annafellows, and Claude Faustus."
"As the witness of the contract, I must have been more diligent about what was happening, but instead, I became a tool for them to use to get in your way," she said as she kept swinging her Death Scythe to strike him. He wasn't sure why she was doing this, but all he knew was that he needed to dodge.
"Listen to yourself: you were used and yet you blame yourself for what happened?" he said as she swung her Death Scythe almost erratically. Sometimes he'd use silverware to protect himself, but he wondered if she was actually trying to harm him.
"Would you ever forgive me if you lost Ciel's soul to Claude Faustus?" she asked as she used all her strength to swing her Death Scythe horizontally, slicing a nearby tree in half and making it fall. She jumped out of the way, but Sebastian used that as a window of opportunity to grab her by her biceps to stop her from moving her arms. She tried wiggling out of his grasp, but he held on tight. When they landed on the ground, he tightened his grip enough to force her to drop her weapon. Despite not having a weapon, he knew she was still dangerous and quickly grabbed her forearms to put them behind her back and push her against a tree.
"Normally, I'd kill any lackey of an enemy if they got in my way, but not you. You've proven yourself to be a worthy ally even when we bound to be bitter enemies. You've stood by my side protecting our young master and honestly, I wish I could continue your services, but that is an impossible wish."
"You could kill me now," she said with defeat in her voice. "The Association expects me to fight for that soul. A fight to the death would be an acceptable result for my failure. I'm not even guaranteed my life if I came back empty-handed, so just kill me now."
Surprise filled Sebastian's face at her words. The wording wasn't the same, but he remembered the last time she expressed this sentiment to him. The day they first met, she was caught by the other servants, who thought she was a possible assassin and brought her to Ciel and Sebastian to deal with. Ciel had "let her go", but it was actually a ploy for Sebastian to kill her. To his surprise, when she proved that she could defend herself against him and brandished her weapon, he knew she wasn't human, which caused him to fight harder to kill her under the impression that she was trying to reap Ciel's soul. Though, the truth was that she was just curious about the child of the two souls she had reaped a couple months ago. When blood was spilled on her side and her eyes turned red, he finally learned that she was the infamous Rogue Reaper that was raised by Lucifer for a period of time and knew an opportunity like this shouldn't go to waste. Eventually, he managed to defeat her by getting ahold of her Death Scythe and positioning himself to land the final blow, but he was taken aback when he didn't hear her pleading for her life.
Instead, she begged him to end her life, claiming that if the Reaper Association learned she was in any contact with a demon, regardless if they were fighting, they might terminate her. She expressed her disdain for the Association, but had to follow the rules to keep her and her brother alive. Knowing this, he let her live, both because of her words and the simple fact that killing one Reaper would bring dire consequences for him. True, some demons could fight off a branch of Reapers, but he was limited by a contract and a bunch of Reapers around could make things complicated with keeping the soul. Unexpectedly for her, he offered her a job as a Phantomhive servant, saying her abilities were better suited here. She was confused and denied immediately, but after she reported the incident to her superiors, she overheard them talking about the possibility of termination. This caused her to panic and break the rules that weren't protecting her and would later accept his offer. He didn't know the exact details on how she managed to keep both jobs with little consequence, but he was grateful she did.
But now, hearing those same words, he could tell that she no longer had a fighting spirit. She was truly broken; no brother to protect by submitting to the rules, no soul to claim to fight for so she could have a taste of freedom, no more protection that her life was worth having around in danger of a relapse. She had given up and he did not like that at all. He turned her around so that she was facing him, but pinned her against the tree to keep her immobile. "The young lord had ordered me to punish you for breaking the tea set."
"And you must obey," she said weakly, but he lifted her chin so that he could look in her eyes. He could see tears forming, waiting for permission to be released, but knowing her, she would do her best to deny it.
"Precisely," he said as he brandished a knife. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, expecting a sweet relief to rush over her. However, she heard a thud above her head and opened her eyes, noticing that the knife was nowhere near her chest, but rather, stabbed directly above her head. "An efficient punishment for you would be to deny you of what you want."
Tears filled her eyes out of frustration. "You bastard. What are the servants to do without you two? Obviously, if there is no soul for me to reap, then I have no reason to stay. We all would be abandoning them."
"We have worked with each of them long enough for them to survive in their new world. Knowing them, they would stick together until the very end, ready to inconvenience the next master they serve."
"But why do you have to leave?" she said as tears streamed down her face. She no longer had the capacity to hold them back.
He sighed. "It's the young lord's will, not mine. He finds it idiotic for us to stay in one place just for a Reaper."
"He really has fallen into his demonic nature," she tried to joke, but her laugh was choked out with tears. "Though, he has been thinking like that ever since he met you."
"Indeed," he said. They stood in silence for a moment before Sebastian took off his tie, making Lilliana curious.
"What are you doing?" she asked before he tied her wrists above her head, only held by the blunt end of the knife.
"We don't know how much time we will have together once we put the young master's plan in action and he wants to distance us from you, fearing you might turn on us before we leave as an act of revenge. I know; it sounds ridiculous, but we know how paranoid the boy can be when it comes to betrayal. So until then . . . ," he said as he leaned in for a kiss. The action surprised her; it was rare for him to actually kiss her. He did the first night they had sex when he marked her with the Mark of Lust on her lower back, but that was seen more as a form of her consent. If she was willing to kiss him, then she allowed him to do much more than that. Besides that, they usually went straight to more intimate actions since neither deities cared for the human emotional attachment of a kiss. Still, this kiss, even without using tongue, had a lot more emotion and passion behind it. She may have finally understood why humans care about this innocent action so much.
However, the innocent kiss would only last for so long as their tongues danced with each other's and he put his hands all over her body. Their breathing became heavier as he started to heighten her skirt and he started to unbutton his pants. "You're sure no one will find us?" she asked innocently.
He chuckled. "The servants should be asleep by now and if someone were to catch us, what is the point of firing you when you're on your way out?" Sebastian said, slowly regaining the usual teasing nature as he inserted himself into her. While she initially moaned loudly, she soon muffled her voice by biting his shoulder as he continued to thrust continually and held her legs up so he could enter deeper. As pleasurable as this was for her, she couldn't help, but to think how cruel it was for Sebastian to do this. He wasn't being the usual sadistic master she had been accustomed to; he was being gentle and even planted kisses on her neck rather than biting to draw blood. He wasn't just fucking her; he was making love to her. Did he have any idea what he was doing? Did he know that by doing this, he was causing more pain than he could ever inflict physically? He truly is a demon; leaving her with a blissful memory she would never be able to recreate.
Eventually, she could feel herself about to climax and as much as she wanted to scratch his back out of pleasure, her wrists were tied. However, Sebastian noticed her squirming and knew she was close, which he was thankful for since he was close as well. Although he liked feeling her teeth sink into his flesh, which would have felt more intense if he wasn't still wearing his shirt and vest, he knew he wanted to try something new with her. He let go of one of her legs so he could gently push her head back so he could see her face before kissing her deeply, making sure to keep his hand on her cheek. This demon, she thought, can make something so sweet seem so sinful. While deep in their kiss, they both came and his seed filled her while her body spasmed uncontrollably.
Their bodies soon relaxed and they breathed heavily as they tried to catch their breath. Sebastian untied her wrists so she could be free and they straightened their clothing, though Lilliana had a bit of a hard time standing. However, as he was about to head back to the manor, expecting her to follow, he felt her hug him from behind. "How could you be so cruel? Don't you realize what this will do to me? Reapers aren't supposed to grow any attachments to others, and yet, here I am, falling in love with a demon."
Sebastian was shocked to hear those words as he turned toward her. "But you're not exactly like other Reapers, are you?" She shook her head, holding back the few tears she had left, but she felt him hold her tightly as he embraced her. "Then again, I'm not like other demons either," he said before whispering something in her ear, forcing her to tear up again. He was truly punishing her.
What did Sebastian whisper to her? Where will Ciel and Sebastian go? How will Lilliana be able to cope with their farewell? Reviews are appreciated!
