Chapter 2
A lot of information entered my head at once: Grail Wars, Servants, and so on. Apparently, I'm some kind of magical ghost now, and unlike normal ones that are a part of something called the Throne of Heroes, or Counter Guardians that work for some entity named Alaya, I now serve under Gaea's Order.
Which normally wouldn't happen, as She usually has Elementals on her faction while Alaya and the Throne take on humans to act as guardians of the World, mostly Alaya since She represented humanity's subconsciousness or something like that. And for a while, things were fine.
Until they weren't.
Or won't be, since the great threat that Gaea felt has yet to come, but that's beside the point.
The point being, now that Gaea felt the need for some extra insurance, and since already existing heroes were not an option (and she needed a human Servant this time for some reason), she decided to make her own hero from scratch, by kidnapping some poor bloke and turning him into a Servant.
Me.
Yay.
But since throwing me directly to the action would be a bad idea, as I've no experience fighting, nor a legend of my own to be able to form a Noble Phantasm, She decided to throw me into many Lost Worlds (whatever those are) to train, and when I reach a level of power that won't be, as She put, completely inconsequential in the fights to come, only then will I be sent to fight side by side with some Chosen One for the sake of the World.
So yeah, that's about it I guess.
At least I got some neat weapons and an inventory of sorts for my troubles, so I can protect myself now.
…
I'm doomed.
After having a small break down again, and equipping myself with a sword and some hidden blades, plus covering my face with the hood to protect myself from the sun, I started trekking down the river, to see if I can find signs of civilization.
After a while, just when I was starting to get bored, I heard steps coming from the forest, and as silently and fast as possible, I hid myself behind a bolder nearby, and activated one of the very few skills I had.
Presence Concealment.
As I waited, a strange figure came from the woods, looking like a weird mix of crocodile, scorpion and goblin shark. My hair stood on end at the sight of such a terrifying creature, and my mind was screaming at me to bolt from there and hide in my cave until the day I died.
But I didn't run.
My instincts were telling me that, if I ran now, I would never be able to fight.
I would never be able to leave this place.
And I would never see my family again.
So with my sword in my hand, I charged.
The good news is that, since I had my Presence Concealment activated, despite the fact that it's effectiveness dropped when attacking someone, I managed to get a direct hit on the thing's back, as it noticed my presence a bit too late.
The bad news is that, while I certainly hurt it, the thing still managed to throw me away with it's scorpion tail.
I should probably have gone for the neck, but then again hindsight is 20/20.
Focusing on the beast, I saw it take a charging position, and braced myself for the attack. It seemed like it was going to run at me, so I was very surprised when it jumped right in front of me. It feinted a downward head slash, but it's true intentions were very clear.
I dodged the tail attack, having been paying attention to that after my first blunder during the battle, and took the opportunity to cut the poisonous tip out.
This caused the beast to scream in pain and start trashing around, attempting to hit me with it's head for real this time, but I kept dodging it's attacks and slashing it when possible.
When it started getting tired, I found the opportunity to end the fight and so, with a final slash in the neck, I beheaded my first monster.
I didn't get much time to celebrate though, as with the fight over, I had nothing to distract myself from the pain I was feeling on my side where I had been hit.
"Damn it, that thing managed to cut me with it's stinger. Aaand now I'm poisoned. Great."
I sighed and walked to the rock that hid me before. I sat down, and looked up, feeling defeated. I was applying pressure to the wound, but I could feel the blood leaving and my body growing numb.
"So this is how it ends huh. After my first victory in this world, I die of poisoning. Damn it."
My vision was starting to get blurry, and I could feel my tears start falling.
Just as I had lost faith on my chances, a rustle came from the same bushes the beast had come from.
"It should have gone this way…Oh, come on! Someone already killed it? Just when I decided to do something good for once as well-huh! Hey, are you okay?"
"Please…help…"
The last thing I saw before losing consciousness was a pink blur moving in my direction.
And this is it for the second chapter. I hope you guys enjoyed it.
Now Jacob's current stat sheet after the fight:
True Name: Jacob Stone
Class: Type-Earth (Assassin)
Origin: Modern Age (Age of Humanity), Ancient Greek Mythology, ?
Alignment: Neutral-Good
Gender: Male
Parameters
STR: C | END C
AGL: C | MP: E
LUK: B | NP: N/A
Class Skills
Sub-Class System (C): Allows a servant to take on the attributes of 4 different Classes among the main 7. In Jacob's case, the available classes are Assassin, Saber, Archer and Lancer.
Personal Skills
Gaea's Blessing (EX): For the purpose of aiding the World, Jacob was chosen by Gaea to become Her avatar on the fight to come. This Skill is the Grace She bestowed upon him to help him grow. All sorts of Skills can be acquired and grow up to B+ so long as Jacob trains them enough. All Parameters aside from LUK can be trained to B+ so long as Jacob trains them enough. To achieve a higher rank on both Skills and Parameters, a notable feat worthy of a legend must be accomplished.
Presence Concealment (B): Hides one's presence as a Servant. Suitable for spying. It is possible to disappear and become extremely difficult to be detected. The rank of Presence Concealment drops considerably when preparing to attack. Due to being summoned at least once as an Assassin for his sub-Class, this Skill has been granted to Jacob, though should his sub-Class change, the rank of the Skill will be dropped by one.
[NEW] Magic Resistance (E): Cannot cancel spells, but magic damage is reduced somewhat. Originally, Jacob had no Magical Resistance due to being a modern Heroic Spirit, but because of his Skill Gaea's Blessing, he was bestowed with the lowest level of Magic Resistance after being cursed by a Phantasmal.
