Chapter 3

The first thing I noticed when I woke up was that my side no longer hurt, which was nice.

The second thing I noticed was my torso, stripped bare, which was a bit weird, but understandable.

The third thing I noticed was the woman sitting by my bedside, with her face very close to mine. Veeery close. Which was creepy.

"Aaaaah!"

Creepy enough that I tried to get away as fast as possible, almost hitting my head on the tree behind me while doing so, but thankfully the creepy lady caught me before I hurt myself, and pulled me back to the improvised bedding effortlessly.

She's fast.

Best not to mess with her.

"Sorry! I shouldn't have been so close! I was just checking to see if you were still breathing, and I wasn't expecting you to wake up so soon, my bad! Hehe…" she said sheepishly, while scratching the back of her neck.

"It's fine, don't worry about it. " I reply sighing to my pink haired savior "My name is Jacob Stone, thanks for saving me."

"Don't worry about it, it's kind of my fault that you ended up meeting that Demonic Beast anyway. Oh, where are my manners! I'm Shinmen Musashi-no-Kami Fujiwara no Harunobu! But since that's too long, you can call me Musashi!" she said smiling brightly.

"…It's a pleasure to meet you, miss Musashi. And if you don't mind me asking, what do you mean by saying it was your fault?"

"None of that formal stuff, just call me Musashi! And about that other thing, well…" She started scratching her now slightly red cheek, clearly embarrassed by something "You see, that thing had been harassing a village nearby together with it's pack, and while I was dealing with the other 8 beasts, one managed to escape and ended up meeting you before I finished dealing with the others." Musashi finished her tale shyly pressing her fingertips together, looking very chastised.

I could only look at her flabbergasted.

She dealt with 8 of those things by herself? At once?

What the hell?

She's not even a Servant!

"That's very impressive."

"Thanks! By the way, what were you doing so deep in the forest?"

"I'm lost."

"Really? Need some help to find your way back?" She asked wide eyed.

"…I don't think I can go back." I said looking down.

After a few moments of silence, I looked up to see her looking at me with understanding in her eyes, before it was replaced with a glint as her lips started to form a smile.

"Do you want to follow me to the village then?" She asked, now beaming at me.

"…Sure, why not. Although I've got to ask first…what happened to my clothes?"

"Wow, you weren't kidding! The view from up here is amazing!" I exclaimed, looking at the quaint village from the top of a hill.

"I know right! Come on, it should be just about time for lunch, and they promised me free food so long as I left no Pseudo-Komodo Dragons alive" Her eyes got a bit glazed when she started fantasizing about food, and she started salivating a lot as well.

"I still can't believe that thing is named after a Komodo dragon, it looks nothing like one!" I mumbled to myself.

"Really? I've never seen one, so I'll have to take your word for it." She briefly looked back over her shoulder to reply before returning to her foody wet dream.

"Yeah, but it's even harder to believe the fact you've face similar creatures in other Worlds, as well as so many other monster species. Those adventures that you told me about were insane! By the way, are you sure you want me to accompany you Musashi? Wouldn't I just hold you back?" I asked, worried about burdening my only friend in this new life.

"I've already said you shouldn't worry about that." She reassured me with a smile and a playful wink. "While the path of the sword that I've chosen is one that I must thread on my own, that doesn't mean that I should always travel by myself. After all, every journey is a lot more enjoyable with good company. Besides, I never tried teaching anyone about swordplay, so it'll be an interesting experience. And since you accepted me as your teacher of swordsmanship, you should call me Musashi-Sensei now." she smirked at the end, making me blush in embarrassment.

"Didn't you say I shouldn't bother with formalities though?" I asked back at her, desperately trying to avoid looking at her.

It was futile however, as she just invaded my personal space and made me face her.

"That was before you accepted becoming my disciple, and so as your teacher, I demand you to follow proper etiquette and call me Musashi-Sensei from now on!" Her eyes were literally sparkling as she said that.

"If that's what you want, then I will call you that." I agree, defeated.

"Then just say it already!" She was starting to pout.

"Fine…Musashi-Sensei." I said, faking hopelessness, though the twitch of my lips kind of gave me away.

Despite it being a bit embarrassing, I have to admit that the happy expression she made after I said it was worth it.

"Great! Now come on, I'm starving you know!" She said pulling me to increase our pace.

I don't know what awaits me in the future, but as Musashi pulls me towards the gates of the village, I'm struck with the feeling that while many words might describe this new life of mine, dull probably won't ever be one of them.

And with that, there are three.

In case you guys are wondering, the Pseudo-Komodo Dragon Jacob defeated had a paralytic type of magical poison, that had a knock-out curse on the victim, and while enduring it gave Jacob Magic Resistance at a sooner point of his legend, had he avoided being cursed until he was summoned in a World as a Saber Sub-Class Servant, he would have earned the Skill at C rank (Presence Concealment was at B rank because Assassin was his first Sub-Class).

Should he immediately become a Saber now, the rank of his Magic Resistance would only increase to D rank. And that only applies when he is a Saber. To have a Class Skill turned Personal Skill remain at the same rank despite changing Sub-Class, Jacob would need to have it reach rank B+ when on a Sub-Class that would normally lower the rank.

It is also worth mentioning that that is one of the thresholds that must be reached so as to allow a Skill to ascend beyond the ceiling of B+ established by Gaea's blessing.

Hope you guys enjoyed!
